Besigye to ‘defy’ justice Steven Kavuma decision on defiance campaign (Youtube-Clip)

Former Presidential Candidate of Forum For Democratic Change Party Dr. Kizza Besigye has said that Justice Steven Kavuma’s ruling is unjust and lopsided. Addressing a news conference at his home in Kasangati, Besigye said the the Constitutional Court order blocking all defiance campaigns is one of the things he will defy. This came after Justice Steven Kavuma on Friday evening ordered the stay of all defiance activities including talk-shows on TV and Radio. Dr. Besigye says that Article 43 of the constitution only limits one from enjoying his rights if it is in public interest” (NTV Uganda, 2016).

“Police in Mbarara has today engaged in running battles with Dr.Kizza Besigye supporters as they held processions in town.  Business came to a standstill as the joyful FDC loyalists welcomed their former presidential candidate who was on his way to Kabale, where he is to appear in court tomorrow. This was Dr. Besigye’s first time in the area since being confined to house arrest for over 40 days” (NBS TV Uganda, 2016)

“Police has resorted to rounding up and arresting journalists who are covering ‘‘Free My Vote Campaign” where people are chaining themselves on poles in different places in Kampala city centre. Some journalists have been led to Central police station others are right now held at New tax park police both” (Francis Tumwekwasize, 2016). 

The Works of the newly appointed Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Andrew Felix Kaweesi as he promised to the men and woman who appeared around Dr. Kizza Besigye home would vanish, especially journalists. The same is happening now in the Kampala City Centre, jus as a demonstrator chained himself to lightpole with a sign of freeing Dr. Kizza Besigye. The man who chained himself also got detained by the Police. The Same happen to a Journalist Ronald Muhinda who is now detained at Kampala Central Police Station.

And now also the men reporting it getting detained to not spread the message and show the open and also peaceful demonstration against the Preventative Arrest of Dr. Kizza Besigye. Peace.
