Opinion: Bobi Wine throws a grenade into the 2021 elections!

For a leader to say a vote can never oust Museveni without offering a solution is disappointing. We believe in democracy and it should not depend on us but on people. What politicians can not solve, the people of Uganda can solve, they should continue to register as voters and be many” (…) “Don’t talk about democracy and stand four times and on the fifth time you say it doesn’t work, we believe it works” (…) “We have spent two years organising our people and we think now there’s strong competence to regain the control of the country. Apart from the ordinary people being organised, we need better organisation as political leaders. We need to be synchronised, coordinated to achieve what’s needed to be achieved, focused on where the problem lies…There has been some uncoordinated movements sometimes. This year is to make sure this is kept in the past and we move as a purposeful pro democratic force” – Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine on 4th April 2019 on the Launch of the Democratic Party Block or the Memorandum of Understanding between Democratic Party and Peoples Development Party and Social Democratic Party.

There are today signs, that Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine are imagine himself in the likes of DP’s Norbert Mao, PDP Abed Bwanika, SDP Michael Mabike, also with the ANT’s leader Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu and also JEEMA’s Asuman Basalirwa. It shows the friends of the rising star on the political spectrum. However, while he is speaking with peace, he is at the same time throwing grenades into the field of Opposition. Targeting directly FDC’s Dr. Kizza Besigye. That is shown today at Hotel Africana.

What Bobi Wine is showing today?

Partly, a bit of political naivety, a bit of ignorance and secondly, also a bit self-righteousness. Which all I will explain. Because, it is fine and dandy, that all these parties want to show an agreement to work together. That is fine for them. They can collectively achieve, what they think they will achieve. As the PDP, SDP, JEEMA and DP haven’t been boasting big of late. That JEEMA got an MP, their own Party President is good, but not a giant victory. Neither is the MPs won by the DP itself. PDP is one-man band cannot be seen as viable organization. Last, ANT of Muntu is just established and registered after a prolonged consultation period and mix of underlying needs, which haven’t been publicly specified.

Alas, if they think DP Block will be powerful and able to topple Museveni. They should look into the Inter-Party Cooperation (IPC) of 2011 and The Democratic Alliance of 2015. Alas, these sort of projects should be gone, because they are not strengthening the Opposition, but weakening it instead. However, I wish them good luck on their endeavours. Surely, Bobi Wine should take pictures of more books to learn from the past. This is the little notice on his political naivety.

On ignorance is on his attack of Besigye. As does he think Kizza Besigye would have run if his party didn’t send delegates to pick him? Does the politician himself, think Besigye would been on the ballot this many times if there was no internal political discourse within the FDC and established his candidacy? Isn’t that, why he believes in Democracy, because the FDC party has elected him to be their Presidential Flag-bearer?

However, in this regard, the man who has not aligned with any party before or been built an organization with a protocol. Shouldn’t he study that first, too? Shouldn’t Bobi Wine understand, why Norbert Mao can run again on his third stint? He couldn’t run last time, but would have if they allowed him. Is that Democratic, then? Secondly is democratic that Bwanika has run for President since 2006 on his own ticket? Again and again, believing that his church and Party would blow the Republic away. But it never did.

So, Bobi Wine should look around his own and what they been doing before throwing grenades at the FDC and Besigye. Surely, the DP Block will be no more than fling. A tiny fire with hope like the TDA for Amama Mbabazi. Because, nothing will topple Museveni at this point. As long as there is elections with Museveni on the ballot. There will be no peaceful transition. The last time he lost, he went to the bush and since taking power. There been no cheap-shot of a peaceful transition happening in the Republic.

Therefore, I don’t believe Bobi Wine, any Opposition Coalition or Joint Candidates can beat Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM). For the simple reason, the President lingers and secures his allies places. While, he will intimidate, rig and do whatever it take to own the Crown. There is no democracy in that sense. He let the Opposition and the others win some bread-crumbs to look like it. But, still, there is like war-zones and planned interference in the By-Elections, that makes them more violent and sinister, than it needs to be.

Nevertheless, the hope for a better future, the hope for a transition is good and needed. But it is a false-flag right now. That a man who at the same moment claiming that he wants UNITY is still throwing grenades at the biggest Opposition Party. That shows that the UNITY isn’t that UNITED. It is just partly united and not in all sense. This is why the leader and the one whose been standing in the battle. Getting thrown under the bus. Because, why not right?

If it had been a democracy, been a righteous and fair elections. Than, the elections of 2015, 2011, 2006, 2001 and 1996 would have looked differently. Even by this time, the President wouldn’t have been the same over that time. It would have shifted. Also, the FDC has changed their Party President. Something, certain other parties that Bobi Wine is aligned to hasn’t done since its inception. The DP have changed, but the rest are Parties of One-Men Bands who are existing because of them and might be gone, when they have left the building too.

So, it is self-righteous of Bobi Wine, that is what is today. Instead of taking the high-road and such. He sounds more like Mao rip-off and its weak tea. Bobi Wine should know better, but apparently he don’t. I don’t know what got into him, but surely his showing his blazing glory. That his message and memo to the rest.

That he has utter faith in the Electoral Commission, that the appointed men of Museveni, the Security Apparatus and everyone else. Will obey the codes of law and pass over to the DP Block, because of their UNITY will be able to Topple Museveni. Sorry brother, but you got to be kidding me.

That is even worse than Kiggundu math. Get back to the drawing board and re-invent magic. Because, that doesn’t add up. Maybe, Bobi Wine has some love-potion or something to beat the Elections his way. Since, it doesn’t seem so to me. Peace.

Kaliro District: FDC Rallies Ambushed by the Police Force, as usual!

Well, this a common trend and its been going on for years. The Police Force shows up with barbed wires, mambas and tear-gas. To ensure that whatever the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) are planning in town and district will not go down.

This being especially around the Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Dr. Kizza Besigye. Who both usually engaged in legal battles, because of the hardships of their political work. Today is not breaking news, it is common to common. Which is just sad knowledge of how much desperation and how much pain, just to do political rallies and campaigns.

Today, it is ACTION2019 Campaign that Besigye and the whole of FDC had planned an event in Lugonyola Landing site in Nawampiti, which later in the day got moved to Bulumba Town Council. In both places the Police Force came with Water-Canons and Tear-Gas to disperse the public gathering around FDC rally.

The Police had put on Road-Blocks and tried to block the roads in the district. Which is also common practice of the force. This is not new either. What was rare, was that the Police Force didn’t arrest them nor do that with any of the local leadership of the Party too.

Therefore, we have seen this all before and the NRM continues their persistent hunt for Besigye and his party fellows. They are not allowed to do party work or even campaign. They are trying to silence the ACTION2019. Just like they have done with everything else the FDC or Besigye have tried to do. That is just what they do.

That saddest thing is not only the stoppage of ordinary party work of an opposition party, but the innocent public of Kaliro District. Which is caught in the cross-fire between the FDC and the state apparatus under orders of the Police Force.

That is just the costs of doing business and the price, everyone has to pay. That is the Multi-Party Democracy, Museveni-Style. Peace.

Opinion: Joint Candidates for the Opposition is a sign a weakness towards Bosco!

Do the Opposition want to look viable?

Does the Opposition leaders want to look serious?

Are they concerned about their credibility before the electorate?

That is what they should ask themselves, as the new IPOD leader and Democratic Party President Norbert Mao is calling out to all Opposition parties to go in for joint candidates for the General Election in 2021. However, that is a false flag, it is weakening the base of the Opposition, instead of strengthening them.

What Mao haven’t learned from is the Inter-Party Coalition (IPC) and The Democratic Alliance (TDA), which have been used as Opposition coalitions to try to challenge President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM). However, they have been futile, as the state apparatus, intimidation and rigging has secured the ruling regime all the fortunes.

Therefore, Mao should know better as we’re in the 3rd Decade of the Museveni era. This is the sinister part of the times under him. Where the gloves are off and he uses all methods to stay in power. There are nothing he doesn’t touch and tries to manipulate in his favour. That is why, Mao and the rest of Opposition should work together, but not in a way, where they are betting on one ticket.

It is easy to see, that the NRM will get the majority, will get the Presidency and get the crown jewels of the Republic. That is what the NRM does and everyone should know this. Therefore, why risk it all on one ticket and one flag-bearer?

This is really not salvaging anything, but trading away what you have. In a system built for Museveni and his kind. Even if it is so, the Opposition shouldn’t give up and throw in their candidates. If the Opposition are only fielding on MP in every district, a Mayoral Flag-Bearer and whatever else role the Opposition want to aspire to get.

The Opposition should use all forces, use all parties and all manifesto’s to prove their difference from the NRM. The Opposition should field people from JEEMA, DP, UPC, FDC, ANT and whatever else existing out there. All parties should try and go up against the NRM. They got nothing to lose, only prove their point and configure their strategies both locally and also nationally. This to prove their difference and their plan, if the public want to see them fit to rule post-Museveni.

Mao doesn’t sound sincere or strong in the path to Presidency, when he doesn’t believe his own people can run as flag-bearers, but thinks he can negotiate and assemble strength by fixing one-by-one flag-bearer or candidate in every district and even Presidential Candidate. Alas, that will just weaken the possible Opposition. That is a gift-card to the President. This can silence the pressure of the People Power Movement, the ones who are still believing in Defiance against the state and all the others who want the Museveni to cease. However, that will not go down. Not even by a National ID-Drive or trying to WIN by the POLLS. That has be insignificant for 2 decades.

Therefore, the Opposition have figure out a way of getting a popular uprising and fight the oppression. Not continue to be under submission of the President and his made system.

Also, don’t show weakness, don’t be fatigued and give way to the President. He already tarmacking it and doesn’t give a rats-ass about you. That is why, the Opposition have to show character and stamina against the old man and his devious tactics.

Because, he would use that as a way of saying the Opposition stands for very little or have lack of principals. Since they can all work together and only seeking meal-tickets. Not that is not throwing stones in a glass-house, as his cronies are all seeking for their meal-tickets. But, the Opposition should look smarter and look like they actually want to govern with good governance and sincerely develop the Republic. Not only eat the plate of the state and see the schools fall-apart a little bit more, or more hospital without medicine or electricity. Because, that is what the state is offering the citizens at the moment. Also some added OTT Tax and using MTN Licenses to pay for Airplanes. That is how life goes on in the Republic.

Therefore, the Opposition has to look different, sound different and not look defeated. That doesn’t mean they cannot stand together in the fight against Museveni. But its the way they do it. Because they have tried the IPC and TDA without any results. So, for the L-O-V-E of God, prove your value and your mandate for the public. Let them see your true character. So, they can see the difference between you and the hungry looters who are residing their currently. Peace.

UPC: Press Statement – UPC Hands Over IPOD Summit/Council/Chair To DP (27.03.2019)

The Judiciary – Uganda: We have not closed any Court – Judiciary (25.03.2019)

Opinion: Mao’s empty run for the President in 2021!

I don’t know if Norbert Mao sees it or not, if he thinks he is so viable and has the ability to garn the masses. He tried in 2011 and got about 150,000 votes. In 2016, he couldn’t even be fielded as an candidate for MP for the Gulu Municipality in Gulu District.

Now in 2019, he plans to run as a Presidential Flag Bearer for the Democratic Party (DP). Which is fine enough, surely he will get support of Abed Bwanika and other ones joining the team. Alas, they are not combined in strength to ever compete with regime of today.

If he would ever think he has the capacity now, to build momentum and challenge Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, he is terribly wrong. No one is, because the system is built either for him to win, as the crook or by the book. There is nowhere in between that gives space for Mao to strive. Neither, does he has the capacity to garn the masses or even sound like a strong opposition figure.

Mao in the last go around supported the The Democratic Alliance and its candidate Amama Mbabazi. Which wasn’t successful either, that is why his been a vocal voice on NBS Frontline, but not a leader with a purpose, as he is more disfranchising the opposition and his own party, then building something strong. As he has let Lord Mayor of Kampala, Erias Lukwago (People’s Government, Betty Nambooze (People’s Government), Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi (Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs ) and Mukasa Mbidde (EALA MP) go along with either with the NRM Camp or whis fellow Opposition Kizza Besigye alternative People’s Government.

Therefore, he has not shown strength as a leader of his own flock, neither his own leaders nor MPs, who has shown character and joined sides. His not sanctioned the ones directly taking part of NRM functions and within the Cabinet. Only shown strong words against the ones who has chosen a defiant side to the current regime. Which is striking in itself. Since, as a supposed viable opposition, he should show finesse in these manners, but instead shown partisanship, by whom he attacks.

Do I believe that Mao has a shot to the throne? No, do I believe anyone has? No. Does Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine or Dr. Kizza Besigye, at this point no. They are candidates that are more viable and has a bigger voice. More reason behind them and more consistent with their supporters. Nevertheless, the system is built for Museveni, so it doesn’t matter who the Opposition fields. Because, the system is made for all the others to loose, and for the incumbent of 1986 to win again.

So, even as Mao is now saying his a candidate for the highest office, he will self-destruct his chances of being an MP. Mao, will by default go against both Bobi Wine and Museveni. Who knows if Muntu will join the team and who the FDC fields for this. JEEMA, UPC and UFA has enough struggle to even get momentum for their MPs, they should focus there.

That is why, the only interesting thing about Mao’s return to the battle for the highest office. How will he explain his ineffectiveness towards his fellow MPs who accept a close relations with the NRM and why he has attacked Besigye and his People’s Government? Because what striking difference is it between a Mao of 2019 versus the ones who called Besigye a serial loser a few years back?

Since I cannot figure out a time or pretext, where I thought of Mao as a winner. He haven’t even had the ability to run for MP last election and before that, been abysmal as a Presidential Candidate in 2011. Therefore, a little humility and grace, would be nice, but maybe his planning a TDA 2.0 with himself, and hopes Muntu can join the team with his ANT(s). Peace.

Uganda: Announcement of the National Dialogue on Compulsory Land Acquistion (20.03.2019)

Opinion: Muntu’s ANT(s) start building!

Even the sharpest ear cannot hear an ant singing. Sudanese Proverb

Today, the New Formation, the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) is unleashed, as the Party Name and certainly a logo/sign will come. Therefore, the awaiting new party of the retired general and former Forum for Democratic Change President, Mugisha Muntu is happening. This has been something in the works and been a slow reform.

However, we have really waited since Gen. Muntu left the FDC after he lost the FDC Presidency to Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) in November 2017. Clearly, he couldn’t manage to be uprooted and be lesser of a person, he wanted to lead himself and not be a part of a party. That is why he has used this time since he held a presser with several MPs in the end of September 2018. We can wonder if these MPs still will leave their parties and their stations to join this ANT.

These being Paul Mwiru, Herbert Ariko, Elijah Okupa, Angeline Osegge, Gaffa Mbwatekamwa, John Baptist Nambashe, Anna Andeke and Gerald Karuhanga. We can wonder if these ones are ready to be under the umbrella of ANT or if they just thought it was a good idea last September.

We can also wonder, if there are more NRM rebels joining or even people from the UPC/DP to go with Muntu. Not only a bunch of FDC MPs whose already been speculated joining him. We are even wondering if the ones close and the ones appointed him in the Shadow Cabinet like Winnie Kiiza and others would also jump ship. That they would do it in time before the General Election of 2021. To all show the strength of ANT.

At least, the ANT would have more force, than the Go-Forward of Amama Mbabazi had in 2016 Election, even as the political pressure group did have the The Democratic Alliance (TDA), but still not as plenty of regional and representatives like the ANT could have. Even before starting to recruit or becoming viable.

Even so, the ANT or the New Formation has to sing, it has to dance and it has to build a party in the climate of nothing accepted, unless the Police Force is knowing it in advance. Therefore, even putting up a Party Office can be a criminal affair. This is something Muntu knows well, that is why he really has to work hard. Since, there is no supporting structures, only himself and his close associates.

That already, by the slow time coming, people has been awaiting the official ANT since 29th November 2017. This is 475 days from losing in Party Presidency to get the Electoral Commission to accept his new party. Clearly, he has ensured funding and enough stakeholders to get a party. Since, he should have that done by now. That is why his been so silent and slowly working.

We are now awaiting more information about this infamous party, this new formation, this new breed into the politics. Even if it is with old faces and we can wonder, what Muntu means with Country Before Self, when he couldn’t even demean himself and be humble after the loss in the biggest opposition party. Alas, he couldn’t manage to be second fiddle, that is why his running around on his own.

Certainly he wants his ends. He wants his paycheck and his respect. Who would deny him of that. He has struggled with the FDC and before that the NRM. Now he has to struggle again with the ANT. Who knows if it will be successful. If not, he can do like Beti Kamya, bail on his own party and ask to be in the good graces again.

Nobody hears the ants sing, we can wonder if we will really hear Muntu scream as well. Peace.

New Formation: Press Statement (19.03.2019)

The Calvary surrounded Besigye’s visit at NBS Radio in Jinja today!

Bullets and teargass have locked Jinja town as police tried to disperse the people’s president Kizza Besigye’s supporters have received as he walked out of NBS Radio studios where he had appeared for about 3 hours. As soon as they saw their President people started singing and shouting slogans in praise of Kizza Besigye. The police swung on action to disperse them” (Uganda Live TV, 16.03.2019).

We have seen this going on before, as the Leader of the Opposition, the People’s President of the People’s Government, the stark alternative to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and its President. Today, the People’s President Dr. Kizza Besigye was scheduled to be a guest at the NBS Radio 89.4 FM on the 10 AM “On Air” there.

We are seeing that the popularity of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leader is still there, as his consistency cannot be understated. The persistence of his work and trying to have a peaceful transition from the NRM to a democratic elected government, which is not rigged in and directly manifested control by all security organization. Which also was in play today.

We are again seeing that the Police Force and Resident District Commissioner Eric Sakwa couldn’t contain the citizens, the supporters of Besigye there. Again, they had to use violent force to stop them and get the meeting to stop.

Surely, this sort of meeting and gathering wasn’t notified or followed the ordinary protocol of the Public Order Management Act. Alas, this was the supporters and the public itself turning up and not planning this. This is what can be called suction and surge of the public towards a popular leader. Not just some random suspect. That is why usually the radios are banned or blocked before the FDC leader comes. Because, the state cannot manage the popularity of Besigye and does whatever it can to contain it. Even break their own laws to stifle his movement or party works.

The people should be allowed to post up somewhere. They should be allowed to gather and show support of a political leader. That is why the Police went all out crazy and made fuzz. Surely, Besigye have been in this before and not the last time either. As long as Museveni rules, this will be the law. Even if it is foolish and making the police look partisan, which it is. Kifeesi at its best. Peace.
