Today on the 3rd Anniversary of the Revolution, which was sparked on the 19th December 2018. The people are on the streets, as they are protesting and continuing the revolution, which the Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok is now working on hijacking too.
As his part of the new transitional sovereign council, which was enacted after the second coup d’etat by the army commanders. He traded all integrity and legitimacy he had. Instead of being the technocrat and the face of the people who are on the streets. He became another sell-out who is believing he can sell his fragile and illegitimate agreement world-wide.
So, yesterday on the 18th December 2021 a statement called: “Prime Minister’s statement on the occasion of the third anniversary of the glorious December revolution”. Where he tried to look like he cares or even concerned about the sentiments in the streets. Alas, he wants the international community to believe these words and sell the newest political agreement.
As he starts: “On the third anniversary of the glorious December revolution, we salute our martyrs throughout history and we salute the martyrs of the December Revolution, who gave their souls cheaply to the ransom of the homeland and its dignity, and in defense of our dear slogan (freedom, peace and justice). Speedy recovery to the wounded and injured in the glorious December revolution, and the immediate return of the lost” (Hamdok, 18.12.2021).
Here his trying to soften the blow, as we know the same leadership and the ones his working with is the henchmen who ordered the demise of the people. Hamdok is working and in-power because he wanted to be the face of government. While the army commanders who ordered the murders, assassinations and the injuries is lingering in the same halls of which Hamdok is residing. This is why now it’s hard to believe the words his written here. It is only flattering words, but they are hallow.
He continues later in the text: “Today we are experiencing a major setback in our revolution, threatening the security of the country, its unity and stability, and warning the beginning of slipping towards an abyss that does not keep us a homeland or a revolution, but I still strongly believe that the revolution can proceed with determination and determination to its goals by walking on the path of dialogue And national harmony, that’s what I kept working on I have submitted it since my initiative (National Crisis and Transition Issues – The Way Forward) in June 2021, the road map I announced in my address on October 15, 2021 and the cell of the crisis (6+1) proposed on October 18, 2021 and until the political agreement last November 21, they were all Here are attempts to urge the parties to sit for a comprehensive dialogue that will be formed A national mass of those who believe in democratic civil transformation, but unfortunately all of these initiatives have stumbled due to the act of diligence behind the different situations and views of the different forces” (Hamdok, 18.12.2021).
Here is the busy-body politicking where he tries to tie the political agreement which he signed with the army commanders into the revolution. That is disingenuous and disgraceful, as the people didn’t ask for this and neither does it addresses the grievances of the people. This is just trying to justify his return to power and creating the illusion that this will follow the ideals of the revolution. Which we all know it doesn’t and the army commanders doesn’t intend to honour it. If they did… they wouldn’t have done the second coup in October 2021.
He continues: “In this regard, I would like to confirm that my signing on the political agreement on November 21, 2021 has not come in response to immature self-assestimations or under pressure from anyone, but it has come from my complete conviction that this agreement at the lowest level will lead to injecting the blood of our youth and young women despite my persuasion With their willingness to give and sacrifice For the sake of their dreams of the homeland, but I do not find it free to say that saving the blood and dignity of these young people remains my duty that I will not give up, what we are looking for in the future is theirs and theirs” (Hamdok, 18.12.2021).
Hamdok can justify himself all he wants, but that doesn’t alter the fact. That he didn’t consult or talk with the other parties, which was out of the picture. He doesn’t have the trust of the Forces of Freedom or Change (FFC) or the Sudanese Professionals Association. The Prime Minister isn’t in favours with the civil society as he used too. Now, his a lone soldier for the cause of his agreement and not part of the revolutionary partners, which ushered him into the office in the first place…
As he continues: “Our generous people who are ready for freedom and democracy.. I would like to renew my invitation to all the forces of the revolution and all those who believe in the democratic civil transformation by the necessity of agreeing to a political appraisal that addresses the shortcomings of the past and achieve the remaining goals of the revolution and democratic transition related to the issues of peace, security, economy and livelihood The people, the completion of the structure of power, and the establishment of the National Constitutional Congress, the reach of free and fair elections” (Hamdok, 18.12.2021).
This here is trying to look legit abroad, as there has been none or real talks with them. The boycott is also very clear by the other organizations. As they feel betrayed and the ones who works with the new sovereign council are directly trusting the same one who tricked the whole world before. Hamdok is now a partner in-crime with Al-Burhan and Hemeti. He might think otherwise, but he is not condemning or working to stop the massacres by the Rapid Support Force (RSF). So, the PM isn’t involved in making a civilian government, but just adhering to their power. He is a pawn and not a major player. The army commanders got a cheap trade and Hamdok cannot return to prominence like he used too. Since, he cannot sell the same stories after giving up and signing that political agreement.
He ends with: “You Rebels and Revolutionaries.. As promised to you, we have learned from you the ability to ignite the roots of the revolution and restore its momentum whenever some think it is disappointed and it is time to be executed, and your processions and different means and tools of peaceful expression that you follow are the only weapon and the temptations in achieving the slogans of the revolution, and victory will be the solution It’s impossible to die as long as we are committed to complete peace” (Hamdok, 18.12.2021).
Here he wants to be part and take it. Just like he wants to commemorate and celebrate the martyrs of the revolution. While his working with the men and the ones that ordered their deaths. Instead of keeping them accountable. The man is working and lingering in office because of them. It is hard to believe the flattering words or even take it as a serious act. Unless, he hopes foreign dignitaries and diplomats believes this buffoonery.
Hamdok tries to be a statesmen, but he failed and his error was to cooperate with the ones who doesn’t want the revolution to succeed. The man could have been more resilient and showed character, but instead he gave way and signed a deal of which is the end of career. Hamdok will not be able to revitalize his position. Yes, his the re-instated Prime Minister … but he is not a part of the revolution. His one of them and that’s why the people in the streets doesn’t associate themselves with him. They know he sold out and it’s evident as his writing texts like these. Peace.
