Opinion: Kasumba is putting the cart before the horse in regards to Lord Mayor Lukwago…

I am yet to see what the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has done to improve Kampala given all the time he has had. I am not saying it is not there. It may be, but someone needs to educate me on what that is, whatever it is. I have even held this conversation with him asking him to dedicate some of his time to the finding and doing of something in Kampala from which it shall be recalled in 200 years later that that was the handiwork of Erias Lukwago as Lord Major” (Samson Kasumba – ‘OPINION: But what has Erias Lukwago really done for Kampala?’ 10.11.2023).

A politicians should be scrutinied and questioned. It is nice to see a text like this NilePost, but they are most about the opposition or opposition leaders. There isn’t the same due diligence or concern about the Ministers or the high ranking officials of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). You could wonder why, right?

However, we already know why, but let me digress. The article’s premiss is flawed, because it gives the apparent idea that the Lord Mayor has power and ability in his office. As if the Lord Mayor of Kampala can make a difference and change. The article acts like Lukwago is a powerful governor or Prince of the City, but his just a figure-head and publicist for the city at this point. That’s by default, by law and by design. It is as if the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) wasn’t made for a purpose and the appointment of a Minister of Kampala didn’t have an effect. An effect that has shielded and made it nearly impossible for the Lord Mayor to succeed or even get wiggle-room in his office. Secondly, speaking of time. In the last term he was impeached unjustifiably so and later had to return. Thirdly, the Lord Mayor has been arrested and house-arrested plenty of times too. That also take away the ability to achieve anything.

Nevertheless, let us go to the basics for a minute…

11. Functions of Lord Mayor.

(1) The functions of the Lord Mayor are to—

(a) be the political head of the Capital City;

(b) preside over all meetings of the Authority;

(c) perform ceremonial functions and civic functions;

(d) host foreign and local dignitaries;

(e) head the Authority in developing strategies and programmes for the development of the Capital City;

(f) monitor the administration of the Capital City;

(g) provide guidance to the division administrations; and

(h) represent the Capital City on the Metropolitan Authority.

(2) The Lord Mayor shall in the performance of his or her functions, be answerable to the Authority and the Minister.

(3) The Deputy Lord Mayor shall assist the Lord Mayor in the performance of his or her functions and shall otherwise deputise for the Lord Mayor in his or her absence” (KCCA Act, 2010).

When you read these things. It doesn’t make the Lord Mayor powerful or prestigious does it? Well, in my regards, it make him a glorified councillor, but not a man with a mandate to make a difference. That is more for the appointed leadership within the KCCA and especially the KCCA Executive Director,

Just read this one here:

19. Functions of executive director.

The functions of the executive director shall include the following—

(a) to be the head of the public service in the Authority and to head the administration of the Authority, including divisions and wards;

(b) to be the accounting officer of the Authority;

(c) to be responsible for the management of all public funds of the Authority and accountable to Parliament;

(d) be responsible for coordination and implementation of national and council policies, laws, regulations, byelaws, programmes and projects;

(e) advise the mayor and Authority on Government policy;

(f) present the annual budget to the Authority;

(g) advise the Authority on technical, administrative and legal matters pertaining to the management of the Authority;

(h) implement lawful decisions taken by the Authority;

(i) oversee the delivery of quality services to the population within the Capital City and take remedial action where service delivery standards are below the expected minimum standards;

(j) ensure proper physical planning and development control in the urban councils;

(k) monitor and coordinate the activities of the directorates of the Authority and of the lower Authority;

(l) be the custodian of all the assets and records of the Authority;

(m) attend meetings of the metropolitan Authority;

(n) supervise and evaluate staff performance;

(o) liaise with the central Government and other institutions on behalf of the Authority;

(p) conduct the public relations of the Authority;

(q) promote trade order;

(r) mobilise the urban community for development and sustainability of infrastructure and services;

(s) be responsible for the enforcement of ordinances and byelaws made by the Authority and its lower council units;

(t) be responsible to the Authority, subject to the general directions of the Minister;

(u) on day-to-day operations, be responsible to the Authority; and

(v) make reports to the council and the Minister on the state of affairs of the Capital City at least once a year or as the Minister or the Authority may determine;

(w) to perform any other duties assigned by the Authority or the Minister” (KCCA Act, 2010).

This here sounds like the person should address and the ones with real power. That’s the intension of the creation of the KCCA to clip the wings of the Lord Mayor and it has done so too. That’s why the most prominent leader in the hierarchy of Kampala is sort of the Executive Director of the KCCA. Just read the functions of the Executive versus the Mayor and you get the gist.

That’s why it’s rich to read a paragraph like this in the article…

Erias Lukwago run for that office to serve us residents of the capital. If you knew that it is near impossible to deliver services under this NRM government, why did you run for an office from which we expect services? There seems to be a line of dishonesty here. I am not sure that the primary task of a Lord Major is to effect change of Government. His job is to deliver services to the city dwellers. Has he done that? If he has not, must we not bring him to task? If and when we don’t bring him to task. then have we taken our citizen responsibility seriously?” (Kasumba, 10.11. 2023).

The KCCA Act didn’t eradicate or take away the role or office of Lord Mayor, but it did take away it’s mandate and partly its reason for existing. It is a duplication and done so because the NRM cannot get their flag-bearers to win an election. They know this and the President too. That’s why they have made this law and amended it too. Just to ensure that the NRM get to have oversight and have some sort of control of the city. Even if the City elects the opposition and leaders in defiance of the NRM.

Yes, Lukwago should be able to bring services to the people, but in this case. The calls should be at the Executive Director and her “council” or “authority”, as they are bearing the blunt of the mandate and the Lord Mayor is there for the festivities.

So please, get a grip and until laws are either amended or removed. Until that happens and the law is still active. That sets the boundaries, the mandate and options, which the Lord Mayor has in his office. Therefore, let us adjourn and get some chai, aye? Peace.

Opinion: Besigye needs a new home

Today it was finalized, the leadership of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) split itself from the People’s Government and the Katonga branch. This means Dr. Kizza Besigye and his allies needs to find a new home. The people of defiance and resilience against oppression has to start up fresh.

There been speculations that the Besigye fraction would do like Bobi Wine did and “buy-out” a defunct party. Nevertheless, there has no proof of it. The other side has said it should just become a part of the National Unity Platform, as it is already working with and coordinating with the NUP. Because, Bobi Wine and Besigye have a cordial relationship as politicians.

Today’s resolution from the FDC is just crystal-clear. There is no way to return now. No steps for dialogue or talk between Besigye or his former fellows in the FDC Najjanankumbi. These folks has detached themselves from him and called him an imposter. They are saying his wrongly using the FDC logos and posturing as a part of the party. That together with the rest of his allies. Therefore, there is no more between him and them.

This is why the people of the People’s Government and FDC Katonga Fraction has to decide what to do. They will not be taken care off or be favoured in the leadership from within the FDC. That ship has sailed and they have been evicted. Bluntly thrown out of their own party and if they don’t… then well… a disciplinary committee will come and will enforce sanctions on them.

With that in mind… we know there is no return and why should they?

The betrayal was in the city and they took advantage. They ate and has enjoyed the spoils. Now they are running the show and “legitimized” their own existence. While vilifying one of the founders and one of the reasons why the party was as big in the first place.

It is amazing that the party of Besigye has thrown Besigye out. That what happened today. In reality his own party has made him an outcast. That is the truth. Someone who fought for the party and helped building it from scratch. That person is one of them you throw out like garbage. It is just showing what the FDC leadership has become and who they are… when they act like this.

There is no returning back. Amuriat and Mafabi has sold it all and they are willing to do this. They are proud of it and announced it like nothing. Just a formality….

That shows that they are not considering the implications and what it signify. The signal they are sending is clear. The FDC they run are not aligned with the principals and ideals of Besigye. Which means they are more easily corruptible and easy access then ever before. Because, we know that Besigey will fight hard and take the punishment with ease. That’s something he has done for years and paid the price for the cause. Alas, that doesn’t matter to the FDC leadership.

This current FDC leadership doesn’t value Besigye or his kind. That is compelling and is a warning… We now know… and the ones proud party and resilient one is now mediocre and like so many others. Because, it betrayed its own for personal glory.

That’s why one of the founders and his allies has to find a new home. Either make their own or join another one. Since there is nothing left for them to return too….

A Luta Continua. Peace.

The FDC-Crisis Continues: Najjanankumbi detach itself from Katonga completely…

““FDC NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE RECALLED THE RESOLUTION THAT CREATED THE PEOPLES GOVERNMENT. After a period of reflection and thorough internal discussions, the FDC National Executive Committee reached a consensus to recall the resolution that established the Peoples Government. With immediate effect, therefore the FDC will no longer participate in any activities associated with the Peoples Government. This may only resume when the conflict between the two is resolved. This severing of relations comes after a series of challenges that the FDC has faced managing two centers of power which have conflicted since 2018 leading to a total misunderstanding immediately before, during and after the 2021 general elections” (FDC, 30.10.2023).

Today was the final day for the current leadership of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and their allegiance to some of their founders and leaders. They have now decided to leave them behind and finalized a break-up. While promising much more.

The leaders from within and who conspired to do this is Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Nathan Nandala-Mafabi, as well as others who has complied and accepted to partake in this quagmire. The FDC as we know it is now gone. The principals and the ideals of the party has been sold on a altar and these gentlemen danced at the wake.

The FDC leadership continues:

Our party has experienced internal conflicts, accompanied by allegations and counter-accusations that have contributed to considerable turmoil within our ranks with resultant negative publicity in the media. Regrettably, some members of the FDC have chosen to adopt a hostile stance against their own party in complete contravention of Article 12 of the party constitution. They have for example continued to posture as the legitimate leaders of the party which matter was settled at the 6th October National Delegates Conference with the election of new leaders. They continue to issue illegal notices using FDC headed paper, use party symbols, slogans and colors and continue to brand themselves as such; and have also abused party documents during unauthorized meetings. The Party is now prepared to take disciplinary action through a well constituted Committee on Discipline against these errant members and we strongly urge them to cease presenting themselves as FDC leaders. We also call on our members to shun these individuals who chose to masquerade as ‘interim’ or factional leaders in order to cause a split in the party for their own selfish interests” (FDC, 30.10.2023).

We can see how POA and the FDC Najjanankumbi fraction is spinning it. It is so obvious, as they are acting supreme and the legitimate ones. While they never took any accountability and only threw stones at the other fraction. The FDC never resolved the matter and the ones in-charge now has practically hijacked it on their own accord. So, it is rich reading this text and knowing how it transpired. These men don’t lack courage to boldly say it and publish it. Because, they don’t mind the outcome or what they have become by doing it.

To further it’s case…

We want to emphasize that there are no factions within the FDC, contrary to how it has been portrayed in the media. Claims of a “Katonga faction” or a “Najjanankumbi faction” are entirely unfounded. There is only one FDC, and it is crucial that the media immediately cease perpetuating these misrepresentations. However, in keeping with the Guiding Principle in the party constitution Chapter 8(e) that relates to peaceful resolution of conflict we continue to extend an olive branch to the FDC members “out there”. This however applies to only those holding corporate or life membership cards and those who are up to date with their membership. For those whose membership expires every year and have not renewed it by registering in their village registers they can only be supporters and sympathizers and not members and accordingly are at liberty to decide whether they want to regain membership of the party or not. For now, we implore all of them to stop masquerading as FDC leaders” (FDC, 30.10.2023).

If they are thinking this is wise… well… it is not and this is a strategic blunder. As they are no disfranchising plenty of members and the ones who sought “shelter” at Katonga or People’s Government. They are the ones that even brought POA into power and he betrayed them. Now he has finalized it and now he speaks ill of them. Trying to downplay them and making it illegitimate. While he sits on a throne of lies… maybe bare-naked, but most likely bare-foot like he was during his campaign in 2021.

This part ends with:

We wish to clarify that during the Delegates Conference held on October 6th, 2023, a new National Executive Committee was democratically elected and sworn in. The conference also took a number of key decisions including extending the life of the Electoral Commission by six months and replacing the Hon. Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda with Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi whom we congratulate, as the FDC whip in Parliament. The FDC remains committed to its mission and values, and we believe that these decisions are essential to restore unity and cohesion within our party” (FDC, 30.10.2023).

When you want to talk rubbish. This part is over the moon. The stars are aligned and the whole picture is just blossoming. The colours are all there and the flavours of heaven is at your fingertips. However, the reality is much more grim and dark. These aren’t fact or real. If it where… there wouldn’t be this stand-off, which the current leadership never wanted to resolve. They rather wanted it to die out and be forgotten about. However, by their recent action. These people are just proving how they are in the wrong. That’s why they have targeted Besigye and his associates, because they know what they did…

That was just one part of the FDC Press Release today, but I want to end with this one, which was particularly interesting considering everything:

As you are aware the FDC has a new leadership and the new leadership has a big task ahead to give the party a face lift and to enable us to regain our glory in the political landscape of this country. As the new team, we mean business from the very start of our 5 year tenure and we will soon be heading out to the field We urge all our members to prepare for an extensive plan aimed at strengthening the party’s infrastructure nationwide, which includes the redevelopment of the ‘Blue House’ which remains pending from the previous term” (FDC, 30.10.2023).

I hate to be that guy, but by detaching yourself from Besigye and his associates, you are practicality never able to regain old glory. He is one of the reasons why the party had any glory and was built up the way it is. It is his character and message that brought people under the banner. He and others who has also left like Muntu. However, POA and Mafabi can try… but they have burnt plenty of bridges and there will be less goodwill now. Especially, we now know how they operate from within. So who wants to trust them from the outside looking in?

This FDC is broken and in self-destruction mode. It isn’t one you can trust and the leaders are to blame. They should have known better, but apparently the shillings was to juicy to say “no”. Peace.

Opinion: Nandala Mafabi we know who you are…

Let them sign their wills before they come. Nobody is going to play with FDC, and I want to tell Lukwago, let him be at the forefront, and I will show him who I am.”— Nathan Nandala Mafabi (06.10.2023).

Today, the Najjanankumbi faction party held their election and the culprits of recent actions retained their offices. This being Nandala Mafabi as Party Secretary General and Patrick Oboi Amuriat who is in his second term as Party President. The others I don’t care to mention, because that is just loyalist of these two or people who has traded positions to get there by this point. It isn’t funny or entertaining, just depressing actually.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is official deceased. It is over… the party of defiance and staunch resilience against the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is history. The ones that has inherited the offices and the party are disgraceful who spits on the sacrifices and the ones who built the party from the ground up. They continue to embark on a futile mission and seriously continue to harm the party.

The party is now becoming irrelevant by these actions. The FDC Katonga Faction better just start a new party. They are better off that way and they can continue the legacy of the old FDC. Because, the new one is a mockery of the old. They know the gist and these are the ones that fought for the party. The others are the ones that takes and expects others just to follow command. That’s how Nandala Mafabi and Amuriat is acting these days. There is no mediation or possibility to reconcile at this time. Because, there is nowhere to go and nothing to gain. It isn’t like the FDC Najjanankumbi will give way or even entertain the others. They are just busy maligning and putting despicable spin against the ones there. Therefore, we know their game and it’s just damaging.

The FDC isn’t bruised, it was on it’s deathbed and a little hope of revival, but now it is without a pulse. It doesn’t have the character or the factors that made it unique. They are just people hungry for offices and positions. The party is now a place of seeking relevance and leveraging the remaining assets. It isn’t about building or trying to be an answer. No, just a common place to be politicking and trying to forge a future for your own self. That wasn’t the ideal or the mission of the party, but that’s what it has become.

We know who Nandala Mafabi is… he don’t have to threaten or act arrogant about it. His a hallow vessel of a man. A mockery of an opposition leader and an attempting to strongman people. While his vile and utterances only shows how naked he is. As the narratives are spinning everyone and anyone who opposed his reign is maligned. While his supposed to be a Saint and Saviour. He won’t even carry his own cross. So, why should we believe the man is without sin? Aye?

He should clean the dirt of his shoulders, but we know he cannot do it. That hurts his pride and his fellow peers will destroy him. Surely there is something beneath this demeanour. What that is? I don’t know, but it isn’t godly. No, it is common greed and prestige. The things that leaves men astray. His only losing lust to a total jackpot.

Nandala Mafabi, you have acted insincere and a fool. Your words aren’t of a man of your station. However, you still act this way and if this gives you power. Well, be it then, but don’t expect outsiders to be on the ride. We see you and it’s not a good look. The energy your possessing creaes only more turmoil and chaos. The party deserves better, much better, but you have betrayed that party for personal gains. That’s why you don’t care and everyone watching can see that. Peace.

Opinion: Lukwago is ceremonial, blame others for the chaos of Kampala please…

The Bill shifts power from Lord Mayor’s office to an executive director who will be appointed by the President. This means Kampala’s next mayor will be a ceremonial figurehead and the person actually wielding power will be the executive director” (Martin Olupot – ‘Kampala gets executive director’ 14.03.2011, New Vision).

In 2023, Erias Lukwago is on his third term as Lord Mayor of Kampala. The potholes and other issues aren’t getting any better. The exhibitions of government works isn’t doing the Lord Mayor any wonders. However, his not the one to blame for all of this and certainly there are other factors at play.

The whole KCCA act was made as a blunt instrument to take away power from the elected officials of the City. While it did make the former Town Clerk more powerful and ensured a Council of Technocrats. It certainly haven’t developed the city or made significant progress.

The Executive Director of the KCCA was supposed to take charge. The ED was the head and the Lord Mayor was a Master of Ceremonies. That’s how the President wanted it and he appointed Minister(s) to have an oversight of the Executive Director too. Just to add more weight and pressure on the Lord Mayor.

If you think the three terms of Lukwago has been easy. You are terribly wrong. The whole game has been rigged against him. Not only has he been house-arrested and impeached. No, the Executive Director has gone after him and the Minister of Kampala too. They have all turned on him and made temporarily loose everything. When that happens to someone… you know there was other outside actors put into play. That doesn’t happen by a coincidence. No, that happens because someone wants it to happen.

Lukwago’s steady victories and local councillors being represented by the opposition has caused issues for the President. He don’t want the Opposition to have power or influence. That’s why he created the KCCA. It is made in writing for a better structure and better governance, but the reality it is a play for Museveni to get his whims implemented. That’s all he wants and he fears an opposition Lord Mayor will destroy just that.

There is easy reasons to pin Lukwago or the Opposition Councillors or heck the Division Mayors. However, the technocrats and the appointed leadership at the helm of the KCCA are the ones who you should look closely at. The ones that are bestowed and anointed to be there by the President. These are the ones that has the power and the abilities. They are the ones who can and decide the final decisions. The same people are monitored and followed up another appointee of the President, the Minister or State Minister of Kampala. They are all there to ensure the government vision and policies are implemented on the behalf of the President. Therefore, looking at the Lord Mayor or Deputy Lord Mayor in this instance is futile. Unless, you want to blame Vice President Ssekandi for all the ills of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the recent years… you wouldn’t, would you? No, you know he visited burials and ceremonies, but had no power. The same can be said about Lukwago and Nyanjura too.

I have no trouble to have a debate, discuss or even pound on things. However, the KCCA Act and the implementation of it. Makes it clear and obvious where to look. Yes, Lukwago is an easy scapegoat and what Museveni would like you to believe to be at fault. He wants him blamed and get Ragga Dee or another pawn in his stead. That’s what he really wants and he hates that the Opposition has such support in Kampala. It is why he does what he can to undermine and ensure the city lacks proper function or even a workable solution to deliver anything substantial. We can all see that he has sufficiently achieved that over the years. It is evident that was something he wanted to achieve and he got the results he wanted. We can all see it and its depressing. Peace.

The FDC-Crisis Continues: The Party is Officially split in half…

Amuriat, Mafabi dismissed from FDC!

“I have been directed by the chairperson to read for you proposals that have been made in writing. These include: extension of the FDC leadership term of office and organs by six months from October 8th; putting in place an interim electoral commission to organise transparent, free, and fair elections,” he said. Ssemujju added, “Suspend the following from the leadership of the party: Patrick Amuriat, Nandala Mafabi, and Geofrey Ekanyi. During their suspension, their deputies, Erias Lukwago, Francis Mwijukye and Harold Kaija, will perform the duties of these offices.”” (The Kampala Journal, 19.09.2023).

Today, the National Extraordinary National Delegates Conference settled some grievances within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). Though it most likely is creating two separate entities, which will weaken the party further. The ideals of the FDC Katonga faction is sincere and honest. However, the ramifications will be felt for a long time.

The FDC of old is ceasing to exist. That is shown by how the authorities has intervened and helped the FDC Najjanankumbi faction. The ones run by Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Nathan Nandala-Mafabi. These are more guided and getting help from the state. That is shown by every single move and the only one stopping them has been the Speaker, which didn’t accept the changes of party Chief Whip. Therefore, little resistance from the resistance party in their regard.

However, the same one has challenged the National Extraordinary National Delegates Conference, which was held today. The authorities claimed it was a danger and they couldn’t vouch for its safety. Regardless of that, it still went on and there was movement within the party.

There isn’t any grounds between the Katonga or Najjanankumbi now. All the tears and suffering is now in the river. These two could be to entities or parties for matters or purposes. Because, the ideals and the way forward is completely different. That’s why the Najjanankumbi is continuing to malign Besigye and whoever is his ally. While Katonga is now doing their “rescue mission”.

It would be better to start a “third force” or a “new formation” which was Maj. Gen. (rtd) Mugisha Muntu’s gig after being ousted as the Party President. That’s how he ended up with the formation of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT). It haven’t become a powerhouse, but a respected party it has become.

While the FDC-Katonga will suffer from the same now. The Najjanankumbi can still cling on the headquarters and whatever assets that remains. They will do so, but the legitimacy of either is questionable at best. Don’t expect Lukwago to be allowed to enter Najjanankumbi now. Neither anyone else who partook in the events today. No, these will face party disciplinary hearings or possible cease to be members. Alas, that is the scenario here. Because, the FDC-Katonga can suspend the ones of the other fraction, but it won’t matter much. It is only damaging the party further and sinking it further a drift.

The FDC-Katonga is better to form its own entity and challenge the FDC-Najjanankumbi heads on. They have the leverage and the idealistic backbone. These have the history and the founders on their team. That’s why these are more level-headed. The FDC which was in the past is now sold and belongs in the graveyard. That’s where Mafabi and Amuriat let the casket drop and they didn’t even get a last dance before it died. They killed it off and they didn’t even mind. As long as they got their cut and salvaged of the hurt.

Now others will say the FDC-Katonga did a coup. Well, the FDC Najjanankumbi doing just that by not being transparent, accountable or sincere in its action. While acting in disregard to the NEC and Delegates Conference of late. The FDC Najjanankumbi fraction isn’t listening or concerned about the internal elections. They are trying to fortify the positions and elevate themselves even further. Without consulting the rest of the party. That’s why we are here and Mafabi has said it himself. He believes his Presidential. When his not even fit to be the Secretary General of the FDC. There is nothing in recent history proving his value or worth as a leader. When you see what the FDC-Najjanankumbi has become…

That’s why the FDC-Katonga has reacted the way it does. However, I don’t expect it too succeed. It will be a fringe and an outside entity. The national bodies or anything else won’t accept it. Expect the courts to dismiss it and call it fraudulent or something. That’s what it does, because they are ordered to benefit the FDC-Najjanankumbi faction… and this is how things goes.

The crisis isn’t over and it’s far from averted. It has only gotten to the next stage and we have to see how the tides are turning. Peace.

Opinion: Mafabi isn’t fit to hawk even…

“I am not like him (Besigye) who has no support even. For me, first of all, I have the home support and so I have where to begin. From there (eastern region). I will go to the north, west and then central. I am a presidential material” – Nathan Nandala-Mafabi (New Vision, 17.09.2023).

Whatever Patrick Oboi Amuriat or Nathan Nandala-Mafabi are currently selling – I am not buying any of it. Certainly I am not alone. These two gentlemen are responsible and in-charge of the fall of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). They are the ones who are burning the party to the ground and all for personal interests.

Now the truth is coming out and the blind ambition is clear. The FDC Secretary General wants to be crowned King. He thinks he got it in him. I don’t doubt his honesty, but this man isn’t that clever. Neither is he bright enough to pull it off.

Nandala-Mafabi would be better as a wallflower than an actual figurehead. His the sort of man who looks good in proximity of power. However, when he has some or the ability to use some. Well, his a Kingpin and a dictator in the making. That’s what the recent fights and internal battles within the FDC has shown us. Instead of settling or even trying to come to sort of accord between two rising fractions. The Secretary General has chosen the part of barricading himself and his fellow peers. These are now blocking procedures and possibility of return to grace.

He as a man has shown that he gets high on power. As a Secretary General he acts with blunt force and without any concern of the consequences. Only maligning others and pinning blame on them. That’s what his even doing as his supposed to aim for the highest office of the land. His targeting one of the founders and former comrade Besigye.

Nandala-Mafabi will never be as respected or beloved as Besigye. It isn’t in him and he cannot carry himself like Besigye. There is a vast difference in style and substance. Besigye has a message and story to tell. While Nandala-Mafabi is just trading insults and sny comments about others. Instead of manning up to his own short-comings and being a man about it.

No, there is no future where Nandala-Mafabi would be suitable for the Presidency. It would be to much for him to become the Party President even. His no Muntu or Besigye for that matter. No, his a lonely prince waiting for his Kingdom. That’s what he is and his failing at it.

When you have to malign and destroy the legacy of another one. That’s when you know you have little to nothing to offer. The Secretary General could have come correct and dropped the bombshell with some finesse, but that’s too much to ask. He couldn’t have carried that or been responsible if he did just that.

In the manner of which he ran the party for the 2021 General Elections and how he has been determined to undermine the ones who questions him. It just shows that the Secretary General of the FDC isn’t fit for Office. He shouldn’t even be in the one his occupying right now. His not even able to do that correctly. So, how would he fare as President… I cannot even phantom it or imagine anything good coming out it. Nandala-Mafabi is just another tyrant in the making…

That’s because of how his handled the pressure and the choices he has made as a Secretary General. This is why I have no faith in the man. He has made his own bed and now he has to sleep in it. No one believes in him or his cause. That is to far gone… the man isn’t redeemable and neither is his career. He got a hot minute, but neither would do him any good. Peace.

The FDC-Crisis Continues: The FDC Extra Ordinary Delegates Conference been blocked by the Authorities…

Since August 15th 2023 the Chairman of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) had notified and called for a an Extra Ordinary Delegates Conference, which had 9 minutes and was scheduled for the 19th September 2023 in Kampala.

The Notice was sent out on the 15th August 2023 and most likely the FDC Chairman notified the authorities early to adhere to the laws of gatherings and such in the Public Order and Management Act (POMA). So, that the conference could go on and the FDC could finalize the matters, which are still left unresolved. That’s why the Chairman called for this conference and the party needs it.

However, now on the 12th September 2023 just a week ahead of the conference the Police Force is saying they cannot hold it. The UPF is blocking the conference and says it cannot ensure the safety of the attendance. The authorities and everyone else knew that this was scheduled and bound to happen.

The leadership of the FDC knew as well. They are tearing each other apart and now the inner-circle is getting help from the authorities. We know the Secretary General Nathan Nandala-Mafabi and Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat doesn’t want the show to go on. They want it shut down and stopped. Therefore, it is convenient for them that the UPF is blocking it from happening.

Even if the Chairman is bound by the Party Constitution and should be allowed to hold this conference at Nature’s Green Beach Resort at Busaabala. Regardless of that… they are apparently not allowed and the Police even states the obvious.

It is amazing that they actually wrote this about the matter: “Police will therefore not be ready to provide the required security for the event until the party position is harmonized” (UPF, 12.09.2023).

The idea of the Extra Ordinary Delegate’s Conference is to harmonize and ensure a unified party position. That’s why the Chairman is calling for it in the first place. It is amusing that the UPF directs the party to the courts to settle internal squabble. Wonder if the NRM would have accepted this. The UPF and the authorities is politicking here and not allowing the FDC to function. It is blocking it from working internally and finding measures, which it needs.

This is only serving Nandala-Mafabi and Oboi Amuriat. These two are the victors here. This is done on their behalf and most likely are they giddy too. They already blocked funding for the conference earlier this month. So, now the authorities just blocked it and now stops the chairman from doing his duty.

That’s really telling of what is going on. The FDC is in shambles and soon the inner-circle is dancing on its grave. They aren’t making the party better, but instead destroying it from within with the help from outside forces. Now, the FDC is continuing to burn and the authorities are putting more wood on the flames. This isn’t a hot potato, no it is a burning potato.

We can see where this is going and that’s nowhere good. Peace.
