Opinion: Bobi Wine have a long way to victory

It is a reason why 4 times candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye is a Plan B ahead of the 2021 elections. That is because Besigye knows, Museveni knows and everyone else  knows the score. The cards of the deck is already stacked against Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. Whatever way through the polls will not work. It is just going through the motions and doing what everyone before he has done.

Bobi Wine does what Ssessemogerere have done, what Besigye have done, what Otunnu have done and what Mao did once. They have all gone through this, but they will enter this game empty handed. Bobi Wine has similar swagger and popularity as Besigye had ahead of 2016 and in 2011. However, that didn’t amount to much. Why?

The President and his team will rig the living hell out of it. The nomination as Presidential Flag-Bearer of NUP was a formality. Another milestone, but not a victory march. The incumbent will become the winner again. Not because of his popularity, his policies or his track-record. No, because the whole system is built to let him win by all means. Have the majority everywhere it means something. Ensure his people get appointed and the self-serving regime continues.

That is why a speech and message like this from Bobi Wine is sort of pointless:

Today, I feel very humbled for having been successfully nominated to carry the flag for the National Unity Platform for the position of President of Uganda in the upcoming election. Since nominations closed without another candidate expressing interest, I am delighted by the confidence placed in me by all of you distinguished Members of NUP. As I did pledge, I am confident that I will not disappoint you. We shall bring the crown of victory, by the grace of God. While today is a day to celebrate, it places before us all a challenge to renew our commitment to the struggle and begin working tooth and nail to conclude this mission. We know that the challenges that lie ahead of us are enormous. The regime is getting more vicious and desperate. They are determined to do anything and everything to keep themselves in power against the will of the people. But we must be stronger and more determined to overcome any challenges and redeem our country. Victory is in sight ladies and gentlemen. Let’s get to work” (Robert Kyagulanyi, 21.08.2020).

It is nice he shows humility, but this was expected and was the only natural position. This wasn’t for Zaake or anyone else. The Presidential Flag-Bearer was for him and him only. The crown of victory will not come through the polls.

Bobi Wine has a strong spirit and has a vision for the future. Wants to be a symbol and a liberator from the dictatorship. That is all fine, but his just going through the motions like everyone has done since 1996. There is no difference here and every 5 years, there been someone promising to beat the NRM.

It has been someone who has come up and shown some flex. Been able to gain some supporters and risen to the occasion, but hasn’t stopped the regime from using force or excessive rigging. They have come on top by using all means and ensured the state continues the status quo.

With that in mind, Bobi Wine better configure something else. Especially if he want to win. He will not win in the polls. The results are already in the negative. He will loose. It is just a matter of how much and the NRM apologists will claim he doesn’t have the organization, the support in rural districts of Karamoja and Acholi. That he doesn’t have support of the people in Rwenzori. Also, that they don’t know about him around Mount Elgon. There will always be something.

Therefore, the ideals of Bobi Wine is good and his determination is positive. However, if he runs like everyone before him. Then he will go nowhere. Yes, he has built a party and a movement. But that alone isn’t enough and Bobi Wine should know that.

Unless, he just want to continue this election cycle and become the leader of the opposition in the 11th Parliament. Peace.

Opinion: Besigye’s noble approach to 2021

We are at the crossroads when the junta is organising elections to legitimize themselves. In 2016, I was engaging two gears, one for elections and another for defiance/fighting. That is not very efficient. Election gears are our Plan A, the fighting gears are our plan B. And Plan B is quite wide and involving. It’s my humble decision that I have intensively discussed with my colleagues that we get some body to lead Plan A and you leave Plan B for me. Never ever imagine that I can leave the struggle. Never” – Dr. Kizza Besigye (19.08.2020).

No one can ever say that Dr. Kizza Besigye is predictable or a typical politician. The main opposition candidate in 4 campaigns. A man who has been in the trenches. A man who has a record of amount of arrests, charges and a few treason charges as well.

This man has seen plenty of prisons, days in house-arrest and know the price of standing up against the government. The man who has used all his time since the fall-out. Been principal about the peaceful transition and battling to end the National Resistance Movement and the reign of Museveni.

Today is not different there, but his vouching for two of the candidates for the Presidency in the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). This being Birigwa and Oboi Amuriat. These two are the two official candidates, but Byamugisha should also be counted in. Even as the former Presidential Candidate didn’t mention him today.

Besigye is doing the right thing. His proving his character and his stature. He still wants to achieve them same goal, but not having himself as a price. The freedom fighter and resilient opposition will continue to battle it head-on.

But the ghost of his fifth candidacy vanished today. The ones saying he would copy the President for Life is proven again. He has done that with stepping down as Party President and now not taking the mantle again as the Presidential Flag-Bearer. Now, the party have decide what goals and what it wants to achieve. The character in play is very different and who knows what path they will choose.

Besigye did the right thing. Another honourable act by the man. A man who has fought so tirelessly for this cause. His like Moses going in the desert and never getting the ability to reach Canaan’s land. He just get to see into it, but never live in it. The same seems to be happening with Besigye.

At this point, Besigye is not ending. He will still have influence and his voice will matter. His maybe not on the campaign trail as a Flag-Bearer. However, his will and determination in combination with his coordinated plans to undermine the government. Who knows what sort of plans to usher in. Now, that he doesn’t have to beg venues, travel across the republic and give speeches in every district across the Republic.

Besigye has shown his wise ways by backing down. However, his not giving up, but tooling up another way. Don’t underestimate this, but his proving this again. That the cause isn’t about Besigye, but its about the cause. That is the sort of man Besigye is and that why he deserves credit.

If he wasn’t a threat and wasn’t someone the government feared. Then they wouldn’t limit this man’s movement and this man’s opportunity to do his party works. That’s the proof of how far reaching this man is. Peace.

A look into three of the Presidential Nominees from the FDC…

Wasswa Birigwa, Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Moses Byamugisha is people within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) who are vying for the highest position in the Republic. They are picking nomination forms and running for the Presidency.

Ambassador Wasswa Birigwa, the Party Chairman only turned to the FDC in 2015. So, its not like the man his been a long term ally of the party. He has been close to the President and his team. That’s why his appointed and had roles in the National Resistance Movement (NRM). It is not like the man has a been there long to show his credentials as a man for the FDC.

Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) has been the Party President since late 2017. Before that been the MP between 2001 to 2016. Been the part of the National Campaign Team in 2016 and believed in the Defiance campaign. A man of loyalty to Besigye and the cause of FDC.

Moses Byamugisha have been a Besigye aide and youth mobilizers in the party. His been consistent with his views and perspectives. The one that aimed first of the three. The others have waited to the last minute. Moses is clear about his vision and is using his youth teams to build a campaign ahead. It seems like his thinking ahead, as he is even going after the signatures to stand as “independent”.

We can also wonder if Nathan Nandala-Mafabi would stand as well? He would also be a man for the job. The experience in Parliament and knows how to express his vision to the public. Mafabi has it in him, but wonder if the party would take a man like that.

The FDC men of these are POA, Byamugisha and Mafabi. Birigwa haven’t been there that logn and should rest with his role as a Chairman. Harold Kaija would have more of a standing in comparison to Birigwa. Therefore, for me his a non-starter and someone who isn’t it in for the cause.

POA could become the Presidential Candidate. However, that will marginalize the party. The man has wishes and outbursts, that isn’t always that candid or calculated. He knows how to gain attention, but not always in the positive manner.

Byamugisha have another sort of way. His more of a young Muntu. Still, his defiant and a man for the cause. His not a softie, but a slow builder. Very direct and knows how to push. His the man whose been on the front-line and taken care of the ones arrested. Been a voice for the youths and the activists. A man who knows the party and support party objectives. That is why his a hopeful and a man who shouldn’t be neglected.

Mafabi haven’t taken the nomination forms. He hasn’t even said he wants it. Even as there been voices for him and his candidacy. His a man of the party. Mafabi is vocal and can conduct his affairs. There is really nothing ill to say about him. However, hard to know if he can be easily a man for full front mobilization. As his a sort of moderate, but still shows his capacities with all the years in politics.

The FDC has people who has abilities and capacities to be a Presidential nominee. They have the characters and the ones who knows the cost of doing so. They have also followed on the trial of Beisgye and know how things goes. They have been in the trenches and seen the reality of the battleground ahead of the polls. These people knows this…

I rather want to see Moses than POA. Rather see Mafabi than POA. POA can gain attention, but his personality would be harsh for plenty. POA has the right mind, but his way of expressing it is so unpolished. You need some filters before speaking. That does the other fellas have. Though I don’t trust Birigwa at all. That is however how I look at it. Maybe, someone else would look differently and maybe he would even prove it too me.

Nevertheless, want to wish the all the best. A luta continua. Peac.e

Memo to Museveni: Its not a level playing-field in campaign season..

I would address one subcounty and bring delegates from the other remaining three to address them. So, I would not reach all my people. But you can reach more people on radio when the Electoral Commission (EC) allocates politicians time, especially in the evening when people are at home”Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (Chris Kiwawulo – ‘Museveni speaks out on opening schools’ 16.08.2020).

President for Life, the Eternal Prince and the Don of the Republic, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni can act like its a democratic playing-field, where everyone can act accordingly and have their say. However, that is far from the truth. His people can do whatever and they are allowed to breech presidential directives and campaign guidelines from the Electoral Commission. Heck, himself doesn’t have to abide to it either. It’s all fair game and they will be ensured the victory in the end.

His Excellency can act like its an good idea to be on the radio. The President can say there will be delegated time-slots and opportunity for all candidates to be on-air. However, the issue is that the broadcasters, the editors and the owners are holding control over these. There are stations owned by relics, historicals and backers of the Movement. Will these open up the air for Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine or someone swinging for the FDC ?

Like we are supposed to forget there has been initiated two specialized units, one for media control and one for population control. Where one is part of the army and the other police force. Both will in general be used to disperse and arrest opposition candidates and their supporters. To think otherwise is to foolish at this point.

President Museveni can think we are all stupid. That we are all dumb and don’t know his ways. Not like he have opened the floodgates and given way to the opposition. It is not like they can run on any narrow street and spread their gospel. No, they have to get a nudge from the authorities, they have to secure a venue and then pray to the Gods that the authorities actually let them.

So, when they struggle so hard to do party politics outside their headquarters. You can wonder, if the President would have been able to walk so proud and with high regard. If he had to go through what the opposition does on his watch. The old man with the hat clearly doesn’t see the ills of his ways. The way his destroying the political sphere only for short-sighted personal gains.

The President is winning this election. Just like he has done with all the other elections. Not because of his popularity or his standing in the public. No, his winning because he has the guns and the loyalty among the authorities. The men he feeds and appoints serves him. However, when these rented men betrays him. At that point he will loose it all.

At this very moment. The opposition struggles to have a voice. Within the small space they have. They are trying to reach the public, use the digital means, while the Movement can campaign like usual. Clearly, there is a mixed bag of approach to the guidelines. One for the NRM and another for the rest.

The President knows this as well, but will act differently. That’s why he takes us for fools. That we are so dumb and doesn’t understand his vision. However, his vision is blurred, his foresight isn’t that clever and at one point of time. He will understand his failure, but he will not profess it. Because, that means he has to redeem his soul and his conscience. Two things he sold a long time ago for the golden opportunity to stay in power for life. Peace.

Opinion: Museveni can sleepwalk into the elections [as the opposition only aim at their own]

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) who are not caring about the guidelines or the regulations for COVID-19 or Coronavirus. Who are busy scheduling all activities ahead of the General Elections of 2021. also settling the final flag-bearers of the party. Which sometimes are the same-old, same-old and dozens of sole candidates. The NRM looks solid ahead of the elections.

At this point, as the President Museveni is busy preparing for this 8th Term since 1986. The man, the legend, the dictator and the President for Life. The supposed Fountain of Honour and His Excellency can just sleep. He can be lazy, he can squander around and even have a few scandals on his hands.

The opposition are busy scheming tearing each other apart. The Uganda People’s Congress is the NRM-Light at this point. The big-man Akena and his wife is both in the sphere of the President. They have traded perks and agreement with the NRM .The UPC is only viable in small pockets and doesn’t have the organization nor trust in the public. Because of the trade-off that Akena, Son-of-Obote did in the last election cycle.

Democratic Party have been raided, taken by everyone. Norbert Mao should by crying at home this weekend. The day of betrayal was this week and he lost his MPs. He got none of the big-men and the party is weakened. There is little left and the promise in the months ahead can’t be much. Not like they can muster such voices and cadres over night. To take the space, which these MPs left.

Forum for Democratic Change are also weakened, also many questions about where they are turning. The ghost of Besigye. While Lukwago only created questions of protocol and validity of the nomination process. No matter what it does, it has lost plenty of the faction belonging to Muntu. The pragmatic part of the FDC has left and the defiance of Besigye lingers on. We can wonder what it will do and how it will become the biggest opposition party again. It needs to show flex and muscle ahead. Needs to drop heavy hitters of flag-bearers and show it isn’t just a punchline.

One of the newcomers, who has shown new strength is Muntu and his Alliance of National Transformation (ANT). Most of this has come by weakening the FDC. The ones who was supporters and allies of Muntu is the ones that left the FDC. There are very few independents who has come, except for Kassiano Wadri. Who is also a former FDC, but had left the party already. Muntu got some good people around him, but he seems like his trying to do the same thing he always does. Saying the right things, but not really challenging status quo.

The second newcomer is the People Power Movement and the National Unity Platform. Where Bobi Wine have really scored big and creating headlines. A man who is getting support from all parties and independents. He raided the DP party and gotten several of MPs standing for the NUP. Right now the momentum of the opposition is in his hands. He even got the nudge of the DP Block and the Justice forum for the Presidency. However, JEEMA will field own MPs and not do that under the NUP flag. Showing, there are a balance of sorts and there will be honest competition.

The DP is losing big, FDC is weakened and creating uncertainty, as the biggest party and the one historically challenging the President. Museveni must be giddy that the FDC is lingering like this. Instead of having a steady line and showing resilience. The up-hill battle that persist must be tiring and that’s why its showing some fatigue.

ANT and NUP are revitalized, but they are still not that big or organized like the FDC. Bobi Wine has momentum, but he needs support from everywhere to get the final push. He got friends all around, but with purges like recently in the DP: There might be fear that does happen elsewhere too.

The NRM should be joyful that the opposition looks like this. The message is distorted and the opposition is busy seeing whose deflecting and whose staying. Not to talk about finding out who is the flag-bearer and who gets the nominations. There are so much in-fighting.

There is more talk about what’s happening between the parties. The new and the old. If the old parties have the push or if they are out of steam. We can wonder ourselves. If this is all meal-ticket politics or actual battle for change.

Museveni is lucky with this. They are not pin-point at his failures, at him tanking the economy, taking up more loans and continuing his impunity in power. He can walk free of that. Only touched a small amount of time. Instead of being the target, the one people are aiming for and proving his recklessness. That is what they should do. Expose and show the intolerant and the state sponsored brutality, which is the image of this state.

Except he gets away with that. As he visits factories, radio stations and hold speeches on the regular. He walks and travels at ease like a bird. While the others are in cages and they are not even allowed to sing. Peace.

FDC made itself look like fool by nominating Lukwago… [and blocking Sempala MP a month earlier]

On the 15th July 2020, Woman MP for Kampala Nabilah Naggayi Sempala went to Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Headquarters to deliver her nomination form to seek the flag-bearer stance for the Lord Mayor of Kampala. This after two terms as Woman MP for Kampala since 2011.

She was told by her party that she was too late and couldn’t deliver. Nabilah wasn’t allowed to that in the middle of July, which was right as the FDC said it was a day after the deadline.

Now, we have seen Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago have joined the FDC on the 28th July 2020. That is two weeks after the deadline, which Sempala was blocked from. Continuing that, another two weeks, the FDC accepted the nomination of Lukwago on the 13th August 2020 at the same headquarters.

When, the FDC disregarded and blocked the MP, they said they had an agreement with the Platform Truth and Justice for a supply and demand agreement. That is surely still alive, even as he went from his own T&J and before that his demise in the Democratic Party (DP), which he has drifted from over the year. That was not surprising as he has been part of Besigye People’s Government and been a side-kick over the years.

So within a months time, there was a supposed deadline. Which blocked Nabilah, but they later accepted and partied when Lukwago was nominated as the Lord Mayor Flag-Bearer. This is seeming unreasonable and unfair.

That’s making the FDC looking like fool. They are looking like they had a deal behind closed doors. A deal that blocked others from nominating and making it possible to Lord Mayor on the FDC ticket.

I’m not a fan of Nabilah, not at all. She is a meal-ticket politician. The sort who does all games during campaigns and elections, but relaxes through the whole term in office. Only shows up for elections, but is gone in the years in between. I cannot mention anything she written, motion or law she has sponsored. Not even taken a stand worth a headline.

Lord Mayor Lukwago has been squeezed all his career by appointed leadership and the KCCA is taking all control. So, the Lord Mayoral position in Kampala is more ceremonial then powerful. The Executive Director and Secretariat has the control. The City Hall is more for the display then doing something substantial.

Still with that in mind… Lukwago is running for the third time. This time on the FDC ticket instead of the DP. What is striking is how this all went down. It shouldn’t be this hard. The FDC cannot pull this one off without accepting wrongdoing towards one of their own. Not that Sempala is a clean leader or anyone I respect as a politician. However, the way they did this… was just plain wrong.

I understand that they didn’t want to field anyone against the incumbent Lord Mayor. A man who has support and can win for the third time. However, the FDC could have shown more humility, even addressed their plans ahead. Instead of blocking someone a month ahead and looking foolish for it.

This is not a winning streak for the FDC. Yes, they got a big-fish, a man who has been an associate of Besigye and FDC for so long. However, the party should have acted differently. Especially, when they are giving way to Lukwago now. Peace.

Opinion: Just like Mwiru, Kiiza joins the ANTs…

Today, Winne Kiiza finally revealed her split from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). Was I surprised? No, it was anticipated. She rise through the party and shown loyalty towards the ideals of Gen. Mugisha Muntu for so long. That is why she was so happy to be able to become the Leader of Opposition after the last General Election. An election the FDC disputed and claimed was rigged, still they accepted the defeat and took the mantle in Parliament.

That was in dark contrast to what Dr. Kizza Besigye would have wanted, but with Muntu at the helm and Kiiza as the partner that happened anyway. So, that she now follows him isn’t surprising. That was in the cards just like when Paul Mwiru revealed that he changed party too.

These two are both people of Muntu and stands by Muntu. They are not people for Besigye or for POA. That is just a mere fact. Nothing wrong with that, but the truths are still the same.

She stepped down recently as the Woman MP for Kasese, as she said she wouldn’t be in Parliament for too long or overstay her welcome. However, now that she changes party, maybe she changed her mind about that too?

I don’t know, but as she has a standing in Kasese. Is good at politicking and finding ways to manoeuvre to relevance. I wouldn’t be shocked if she found or got a flag-bearer position for the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT). That is in the cards and would be further extension of her political career.

Muntu have praised all of her actions and her role, even into the bitter end. Calling her the best Leader of Opposition the Republic ever had. So, that she would join him is so obvious. Because, POA switched her and let her back to the back-benches. Therefore, this is a move of loyalty and of future hopes.

She said last month she wouldn’t go for another term in Parliament. However, with the latest move. She might change her mind and opt out for another one. Don’t be shocked if the posters or the campaigning begins. It would fit like a glove. She a been a politician this long and would pull this one off too.

Seeing, Kiiza representing Kasese in 2021. Why not? That is what she has done all her career, and another wouldn’t make much of difference. Doubt she will settle with being a member of the secretariat of the new formation, the ANT and not play with the big boys. Peace.

Besigye’s Sole Candidacy haunts the FDC

We shall hold nominations and elections for the presidential flag bearer for FDC. If Dr Kizza Besigye offers himself as a candidate then there will be no election, that’s the position of the party’s top executive. Should he decide that he is not going to run, then there will be candidates for the presidency of the FDC. We will not allow Mr. Museveni to have a free ride to victory in 2021” – Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is in a real pickle. They can either look like National Resistance Movement (NRM) or act similar. There are certain things that they are arguing about the NRM and that shouldn’t emulate themselves. The politics of the parties, the internal party shouldn’t run like the running regime.

Even if Dr. Kizza Besigye isn’t in the FDC National Executive Committee (FDC NEC) or the “chairman” and Party President like the President in his Movement. Still, Besigye have been the Presidential Flag-bearer for the FDC four times already and would run for his fifth time. That is isolating the highest candidacy from others.

That shows why Muntu had to run elsewhere. Why others left too. They couldn’t have the ambition or run in the party. Just like there is no shot for others in the NRM: Yes, the FDC doesn’t have the power, the ability or the titles, which the ruling regime has.

Still, if the party wants to signal difference, change and be a vehicle for difference. Then they cannot send the same person. That is having a sole candidate and not having real internal democracy. As there is in effect one man who is predetermined. That is how this looks.

It is the image. Besigye has fought a just fight, he has over all the years educated and told the narrative of which people should have listened. However, he wasn’t able to get the public to want enough a peaceful transition of power in the Republic. His been able to build a party and being a viable contender, even when the state has done everything it can to ban or dismiss their activity.

Besigye have done the right thing. Yes, he says in public it isn’t about titles, candidacy or his role. However, if he has the big-man role and runs again. At some stages and on some avenues his alike the ones he supposed to challenge. On this one, the image and the act of doing so. Questions if the FDC are able to see anyone else in this position.

This is not Kizza Besigye fault, as the successors of Museveni have never had the possibility to get their or even battle for it. Besigye is the President the Republic never got. However, if he runs again. He looks more like the ones he wants to challenge. By doing so, the FDC is acting more alike the NRM, than it wants too.

POA is by default making the differences between NRM and FDC less. They are by the opening of sole candidacy of Besigye doing what the NRM is doing to Museveni. The only difference is that his not part of the Secretariat or NEC. However, the role as Flag-bearer and Presidential Candidate is only for him. That is carbon-copy of Museveni.

FDC is for Besigye, NRM is for Museveni.

2021 elections is the fifth time Besigye would run against the NRM. That shows his resilience, but also no other could rise up in his shadow. This is the reality in the midst of this. FDC as a opposition party and as a challenger. Shouldn’t copy the regime it works hard to transition from. Because, if it does the same without power. What can it do, when it gets into power? Peace.

Opinion: Andrew Mwenda mocked himself [by running against Bobi Wine]

Today, the Independent Magazine owner and editor Andrew Mwenda in a striking publicity stunt has picked up nomination forms and membership cards for the National Unity Platform (NUP). Where he plans to challenge Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine for Party Presidency in the NUP, the political party of the People Power Movement.

Mwenda who has called the People Power the bastard child of Defiance. Mr. Andrew who has called People a ‘cult’. This man suddenly picking up forms and a membership-card is just ridiculous.

This is mocking both the party and Bobi Wine. Also ridiculing himself as he does it. Not like we can take him serious anymore. Since he predetermines the stakes and what will happen to others. Not just alleging or questioning, but saying these are flawed enterprises. Andrew knows this…

He does this to make a point, as he doesn’t believes in sole-candidates. However, he doesn’t have issues with Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) or the National Resistance Movement (NRM). Andrew is not going after the Chairman position in the ruling party or National Coordinator of ANT. No, he goes for NUP.

That is just so striking, neither is going for Party Presidency in the Democratic Party (DP) or Uganda People’s Congress (UPC). This gives way to Mao and Akena. Two other people who Mwenda admires now and then.

So, Mwenda has no issues with Akena, Mao, Muntu or Museveni. However, his going after Bobi Wine. That is just so striking. He knows he cannot win in the Forum for Democratic Change. As they have changed recently and knows how Patrick Amuriat Oboi got into the reigns.

He just strikes at the newcomer and the rising star. Just because he can and can use his platform to distort the conversation. This is a political scheme at the highest level.

If there ever was a mole. This is the neon-lights of one. A man who has despised the People Power Movement and Bobi Wine. I have never seen anything positive from the “old man of the clan”. The man has only done what he can to distort and destroy it.

Mwenda might think his bloody brilliant, but this a move of fool. He thinks the blind is leading the blind. Andrew just showing his ignorance and intolerance on full display.

What is even more striking is that this time around to cause controversy. He puts himself in the middle of the firing line. Mwenda knows people will not listen to his words of wisdom or subscribe to his Facebook rants. No, that ship has sailed and gotten old.

That is why he put himself in the middle of the game. Trying to prove a point and media houses will go off the chain. However, he is only making himself naked. Showing his true colours and sooner this scheme will fall flat.

Bobi Wine will be the man and is the man in NUP. He can challenge, but its an empty candidacy. A publicity stunt and an elitist trying to prove something. Mwenda isn’t this. Just like Bukenya and Mbabazi wasn’t opposition either. They were just in the wind a minute and went home after the campaigns. The same will happen to Andrew. He has made a deal and is now playing it out. Peace.

Opinion: Vilify the opposition to save face …

We know there is elections on the horizon. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) is busy sending its troops to social media and media houses. They are trying to make People Power Movement – National Unity Platform (PPM-NUP) looking like rising monster. While still continuing to ridicule and mock Dr. Kizza Besigye and his Defiance campaign of 2016.

That they are aiming at Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and his new party and movement. That is to be expected. Just like they went full gong-ho on Besigye and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). The same people doesn’t even mention the UPC; JEEMA, DP, ANT or anyone else from the opposition. That’s because they are not a real threat.

They are going after Bobi Wine and Besigye for a reason. Their supporters are hoodlums, scum and anarchists. That is because of the message and their will to have a peaceful transition from the current status quo. The Modus Operandi is to make them look like a villain. They are the equivalent to Disney villains, who are there to destroy and cause evil. Even when there is no proof of that and to the contrary, the state does the evil towards them.

The Movement and their men are calling them fascists and intolerant. While they are not tolerating their existing in the firs place. Which is ironic, as these two groups of opposition struggles to open party offices and hold party meetings. While the Movement are doing internal party elections and holding rallies. Meanwhile the opposition have to act “scientific” about the same elections. Still, the opposition is the problem.

Do you see what they did there?

With this in mind. The predetermined discussion is really showing the lack of merit they have. They got to paint the opposition as crazy dictators or autocratic leaders. As they are themselves into the same. They are following the Movement and accepting what it does. They are following the sole candidate since 1986. These people are defending the ones who send the army, abduct and arrest the opposition. While calling the opposition bad, despicable and the next path to destruction.

That is why they are calling it cults… the opposition, while not looking into the mirror about the Old Man with the Hat. The man of the mustard seed and the failure of the 10 Point Programme. They will say the man needs time, another term and haven’t neglected his supposed mission.

Because of that, the use of the military, the police and all entities of the state to bend the will of the public. The apologists and defenders need to make a vision, an image of the opposition as dangerous. They will turn into worse and be beasts of men. Because, you see how Museveni and his folks is now. And you don’t want anyone worse then them, right?

However, there is no proof of this and they misuse sketchy words to address them. While not seeing how they are calling civilians derogatory words, because of their affiliation with them. If the same people suddenly turned to the Movement they would be sensitised and be directed to right direction. That shows the cultish behaviour at home, but they are casting that net to trick the world of the opposition.

This is why, there is a need for a conversation, as the People Power and FDC is made villains. While they are doing this to stop looking the deeds of the Movement and how they control the state. Because, we are instead dissecting the ones who are the challengers and the rising stars on the political field. The ones who sounds and wants change to what’s ruling the republic.

It is right to look into them and question them. However, maliciously attacking them and using the words fitting yourself isn’t a good look. When they call the ones Bobi Wine a cult, well, the sole candidate for 34 years have built his own church in his Movement. While Bobi Wine is promising to deliver a change, just like Museveni did in his early age. Therefore, you cannot dismiss him and say he will turn into Museveni. That is a false narrative and cannot be proven until he turns (if he even does).

So, this is a sideshow from the reality, as the Movement and their defenders doesn’t have anything good to prove themselves and needs to make the opposition look ungodly. Because, they are neither saints nor nuns coming with salvation, but instead a gospel filled with hypocrisy. Hoping nobody calls them out for it. Peace.
