National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi letter to CDF Gen. David Muhoozi – Demand for the Release of Our Missing Supporters who are in the Unlawful Custody of Differnt Units of UPDF (16.03.2021)

The editor and founder of the Independent Magazine Andrew Mwenda wrote an article or a piece called ‘The Besigyezisation of Bobi Wine’ published today on the 16th March 2021. I will take his piece apart and be as frank as possible. Also, show the missteps and the sort of misguided thinking he has. Not that that’s anything new, but someone got to do it. It just happens to be me.
This will be a long piece. Let me warn you. This is not a short read.
However now he states things like this:
“Like Kizza Besigye before him, Bobi Wine seems to have lost faith in the electoral and judicial process. His new call suggests he wants to change government by ultra constitutional means. It is a strategy that will lead him on Besigye’s long trodden path of failure and frustration” (Mwenda, 2021).
The way he says this is really paternalistic. As his saying Besigye have failed, but never understood what he was all about. Now, Bobi Wine is the next generation following in the footsteps of Besigye. They are going into the same grounds, as they are battling the same system and the same overlord. Not like they are working against a vastly different totalitarian government. Therefore, they have to use the same means and the similar fashion to able to fight it.
So, when he says Bobi Wine will follow the failures of Besigye. It is very rich and a poor argument in one way. As his trying to make the peaceful transition of power, which Besigye didn’t succeed in doing. However, Besigye was feared and fought in a manner, which made the State House shake. So, its not like both of them aren’t respected and their popularity is an insult to the Presidency. That is why the state uses its machinery to take away their freedom and liberty to assemble and even use their constitutional rights. Which isn’t ultra, but righteous….
Mwenda continues:
“Bobi Wine’s actions, like those of Besigye, reflect the dilemma Uganda’s opposition has faced since 1996 when the government of President Yoweri Museveni allowed electoral competition. Museveni came to power through a military victory. But rather than rule militarily, he chose to rule politically recognizing that overt military rule would be counterproductive. Thus he put in place a constitution-making process that ushered in electoral competition. Yet the aim of these elections was not to ensure genuine competition for power but to legitimize Museveni’s power” (Mwenda, 2021).
It is really not a dilemma, because participating in the elections are a way to prove the discrepancies and systematic wrongs. If the opposition doesn’t participate in the elections. There will only be pawns and paid “moles” to act as a opposition. Which the authorities and the state doesn’t fear or have to intimidate. The government is as military as it was when they took over power. The importance of the army and security agencies haven’t been weakening, but strengthen over time.
Mwenda also slipped the truth out and brought the true perspective. What is semi-wrong is the allowed electoral competition. As the 1996 elections was a “one-party” elections and the multi-party elections was the real deal before 2006. Someone as smart and TED Talk like Mwenda should have these facts straight. Especially, when he wants to undermine the opposition with his tales. When you cannot even set-the-record straight. What else are you not sincere about in your text too?
Mwenda then says: “Yet the opposition, especially the most effective one led by Besigye, seems to have lost this insight. They began to see elections purely as a means of winning power immediately not of building an alternative policy platform. Power became an end in itself, not a means to an end. When they could not gain it, and knowing the electoral process was flawed, they concluded that elections are meaningless. Besigye convinced himself that the only road to power is through protest” (Mwenda, 2021).
Here is a real fallacy in his argument. As he states earlier in the text that the elections are just a cheap bargain for the President and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to legitimize the Presidency through civil elections. It is not done to have free and fair elections. Still, the man expects the ones going through the rigged proceedings not to protest or react to the efforts done by the state. How foolish are you? Shouldn’t the person being robbed report the theft or punish the thief? Is it okay for the state to steal the election and not get any punitive actions for it?
That is what is striking here. The opposition is supposed to accept the gambit of legitimizing Museveni, but not act when they are wrongly announced losers of the elections. Mwenda expects the losers to go on and continue to build political parties like nothing… while Museveni gets everything. How dumb is that? That is just dense…
However, he says this which is a lie:
“Opposition leaders denounce the judiciary in spite of the fact that Uganda’s judges have continually ruled against Museveni and the state in the vast majority of cases they have taken to court. Our judges have protected the rights of opposition politicians, journalists and activists. I am a beneficiary of this, our judicial independence. And so are Besigye, Bobi Wine and so many others. The blindness of the opposition to this reality only shows that they only see judicial independence in how it can help them get power. In other words, power has become the only thing they seek” (Mwenda, 2021).
It is really rich that he says that. When the judiciary is weaponized as a tool to keep the opposition oppressed and keep cases running for years. Where it is no evidence or any proof of the wrong-doings, but the opposition leaders are still called for cases stemming near a decade ago. That is why its really beneath his station that Mwenda says this.
Also, when has there been any court orders in favour of the opposition on matters, which is hurting the President or his allies? It wasn’t on the Presidential Age Limit. There was nothing on the Academic Papers on the President and neither other. His allies have been able to run away from corruption scandals and others without any proceedings. Heck, Kale Kayihura case got dropped the other day without any fanfare. Who does Mwenda think he his? Does he think the followers of the opposition is that blind and cannot see?
Near the end he wrote this:
“Bobi Wine is under immense pressure from his supporters, most especially the radical ones, to do something, to find a shortcut to power, to express their deep sense of grievance and to nurse their wounds. I suspect he feels duty bound to honor their unrealistic expectations and demands upon him. But while doing so endears him to them, it does not advance his cause of gaining power, or foster democracy leave alone enable the stability of Uganda. Instead, it will lead him, like Besigye, to becoming their supplicant instead of being their leader thereby turning him into a permanent protester” (Mwenda, 2021).
It is like Mwenda is living in a vacuum and above the system that oppresses people. The people are just supposed to suck-it-up and “move-on”. It is just like its cool to live under the suppressive and oppressive self-styled President for Life. That is just a good catch and something anyone wants too. They don’t want to protest or get active to get someone who can truly represent you and be your leader. No, they should just be silent and “hail” the unelected monarch and “patriarch” of the Republic.
It is not about the protests or the activists, neither is it about the role of Besigye or Bobi Wine. They wouldn’t be in their position, if it wasn’t for the prolonged and agonizing reign of Museveni. These folks wouldn’t have grievances and have causes to fight. If the system was free and fair. Alas, the system is built around one man. A man who happens to be the personification of the state.
That is why Mwenda is afraid of the stability of Uganda. Because, the government of Uganda is addicted and only bloodline is pumping through the veins of Kaguta. It is like his the editor for the “I Choose Peace” crowd. Because, there is no reason to demonstrate, riot or civil disobedience. Those sort of effforts are only wasted space in the minds of Mwenda. Since, the building party like Mugisha Muntu is so fruitful… which has less results or proof of changes. Not like Alliance for National Transformation have made any changes. Maybe that’s why you neither voted for him or boosted his cause in the election. Even if Mwenda has said he would do that when Muntu would become a Presidential Candidate. He instead did a political stunt at the National Unity Platform and became a member there. We know what sort of game he plays. It is all to benefit the current regime.
That is the thing about this text too. Mwenda is maybe slipping some truths in there and shows the bitter truths. However, he will do it to undermine the efforts of the opposition he despises. That is why they are “forever” protesters now. Since they don’t do anything good in his eyes. They are just supposed to accept their fate and take the L. That is just the way his master did in 1980 and awaited the next election in 1985. No, he didn’t… he went to the bush and the rest is history.
So, please Mr. Mwenda try a better a argument next time. This is not holding water. It is legit to protest and its constitutional too. A Constitution everyone has praised, even you dear leader has sought legitimacy through it. Peace.

“Therefore, “the disappearances” are a consequence of the essentially, treasonable acts of elements of the opposition. It is dishonest for anybody to talk about the mistakes, if any, of the Security Forces without talking about the origin of the problem: treason, using terrorism by the opposition. Criticize the Army if justified, but also criticize those taking the unconstitutional road of terrorism, intimidation, sectarianism etc” (Yoweri Kaguta Museveni – ‘O You People of Little Faith’ 07.03.2021).
This is just a friendly warning. A stern message. A needed one. It shouldn’t be this way. However, the self-styled President for Life. The tyrant, warlord and dictator is stating it himself. The whole text he dropped is a manifest of what he believes.
That is very simple. If you oppose this man. The state can fabricate cases, reasons and take people away with no charges, court trials or due process. They are guilty by association and by being members or activists in opposition parties. That is enough reason to abduct, kidnap, torture, keep them incommunicado and in the possible murder them. The state is allowed to do all of this, because their act of association is an act of treason.
It is treasonous to oppose the President. It is treachery. It is going against the state and especially the personification of the state. The institutions, the constitution or anything is futile, it is worthless documents and procedures. Any person is not supposed to go against the President or his will. No one is supposed to talk, plan or even conspire to challenge him. No, you are supposed to be a loyal subject and be a patriot after his vision. Everything else is deemed unfit and sectarian.
That is just how things goes. This is the liberation and the freedom fighters of the 1980s is delivering the people of 2021. He is acting as the sole proprietor of liberty, justice and freedom. He is has the answers and his words are final. Everything else is useless and baseless, just mere assumptions and accusations. The uttering and stuttering of himself is more wise than any other mere mortal.
Nobody should ever consider to question him. His the forever ruler and the man is the epitome of the state. There will be nobody like him and no one is above him. Museveni is a man you cannot stand up against. If you do… know the consequences and there will be no redeeming factors. You will be punished, there will be no mercy and know that your a traitor. Because, you dared to challenge the state, the authorities and only man with a vision. You dared to oppose the embodiment of the state, the man of the Republic and the almighty General.
If you don’t know, now you know. Peace.

Today the Ugandan President Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni written article called ‘O You People of Little Faith’. Just the title alone is showing his arrogance and his eager to show entitlement. Using the mannerism of the Bible and the Holy Scripture to defend the actions of the state. While the state is violating key aspects of it. Like not to kill, hurt or treat the neighbour in any way possible that you want yourself to be treated. However, he never looks into those parts of the scripture.
Because, I doubt Mr. President wants to be taken by a drone, detained and tortured in a safe-house and be incommunicado without any acknowledgement or charges. While his family members calling out for him and wonder where he is. As plain-clothed officers took him away at night and into the infamous drone.
Well, let us digest some of the pieces of this article. Where I will address the parts on by one and ends with a final conclusion. We all know the drill, right? Okay then, lets go.
“These thoughts bring me to the events in Uganda where the different elements of the UPDF and Police have been criticized for brutal conduct and use of excessive force. The criticism is good and necessary in a free society like Uganda. However, that criticism should be honest and balanced” (Museveni, 07.03.2021),
The Old Man with the Hat wants a balanced discussion on the matters, but it is not his kin whose in trouble or at an unknown location. If his people or his party was haunted by the Security Organizations of the state. Maybe his tone and his ways would have been different too. So, to ask for a balanced discussion is a bit hard. Knowing how the injustice and impunity his state is running at this moment. Why be fair to the old man and his elite? When his men is doing the devils work on planet earth(!) .
“The reason was that somebody had taught them that good soldiers are like good surgeons. A surgeon uses a knife, just like the butcher does. However, the surgeon’s knife only goes for the tumor, for the cancer. It does not cut anyhow. If you cut anyhow, you are, then, a butcher. Even for the cancer, you do not have to use the knife always. If chemotherapy and radiation can do, you avoid the knife” (Museveni, 07.03.2021).
Here his trying to tell that soldiers are well-trained and is capable of thinking for themselves, as they are like surgeons who knows what tools to use for a given sickness and treat it correctly. However, how does this fit the current use of soldiers against own civilians and using the army to trial civilians? Where is this fitting to use the allegory of a surgeon, when you send soldiers to kill and oppress civilians for demonstrating against you? It doesn’t make sense. Other, than you wants the public to think the soldiers are properly trained. Nevertheless, is the “proper” training, that the soldier are cutting civilians who dares to oppose your ways?
“Indeed, a few years ago, I had to remind, in writing, all the security personnel, the incorrectness and unproductivity of applying beatings on wrong doers or the use of extra-judicial killings. Those actions stopped that time. With the recent allegations, I have already sent out written reminders of our doctrine and why. While it is correct to be concerned when there are arrests and when people are not brought to Court quickly, it is tendentious, dishonest and malicious to compare these mistakes to Amin’s time or present the situation as incurable” (Museveni, 07.03.2021).
It isn’t just allegations and a few wrongdoings in the past. The state have had and continues to have “safe-houses” which the state doesn’t want to be held accountable for. The actions done in them and in the “safe-houses” are just as they were in the “Argentina House” during Amin’s time. The actions done by the state now with the drone’s is no different from the “panda gari’s”. The whole fundamental change of your leadership. Is sadly more of the same, but with you as the head of state instead. Your government is serving similar acts and extra judicial killings, which isn’t allegations, but reported incidents and murders in the general public. If people are participating in rallies, funerals or just being political active. That is enough for your security forces to sometimes end them. That isn’t allegations, but how you operate. You are doing the same “mistakes” of Amin and doing systematically.
“The Opposition and their foreign backers thought that their schemes of hijacking the destiny of the people of Uganda by installing a quisling regime in Uganda, was now water-tight. In this, they were being supported by the parasite elements within Uganda – those who never work, but want wealth and power, including the new comprador (agents of foreign interests) bourgeosie who want our country to remain as a super-market for foreign products and resent our rapid industrialization. In future, we shall say more about these traitors” (Museveni, 07.03.2021).
This is such a “rich” argument by the donor darling and the one who is a key ally to the West. Mr. President, without foreign backers you wouldn’t have a career. Museveni needed Libyans at one point, but wanted help from others to get ammunition and guns in the bush-war. So, he knows the value of foreign backers. That is why he uses this, but he never proves it. Only uses to intimidate and use it as a patriotic feature of his reign. While, he will never speak of his own foreign backers and his own career. Where he has used all sorts of foreign donations, programs and loans to fund his lifestyle.
It is also his elite who runs the Republic. It is his elite who owns the Republic and has “ownership” of the Republic. It is decided by the political high ranking officials and the elite is aligned with him. We are not supposed to know that, but it is. So, this argument is foolish. A man who did the liberalization of the markets for foreign donations and got military support from the US. That is who Museveni is and his reasoning is flawed and just a ploy.
He continues on this path:
“Many arrests were made, but many were released. By the time I made my broadcasts on this and other issues on the 13th of February, 2021, SFC was still “holding” 53 persons. Since that time, 2 persons have been released, one had a problem of TB. The other 51 have been with SFC, helping them to expose the whole criminal scheme of elements of the opposition plus their local parasite and foreign backers. Too bad for the traitors. These poor youth, gave us the whole scheme and they are now our friends. “Omukwano guvwa mungabo”, remember traitors, our proverb. Or you have forgotten our proverbs!! Whatever is done in secrecy, will be proclaimed on the roof tops, it says in the Book of Luke Chapter 12, Verse 3. Therefore, traitors, local parasites and their foreign backers, be informed that the forces that liberated Uganda and have defended it eversince, are there and will always do their duty. When it came to two days before the voting day, about 24,000 soldiers of the UPDF were deployed in most of the 2,184 Sub-counties of Uganda to defeat the scheme of the undemocratic opposition which was not to allow the elections to take place because they knew that they would lose, unless they intimidated the citizens and stopped them from coming to vote as they did in Kampala. How would they, then, account to their foreign funders? That scheme failed and elections were held in total peace. Even after the elections, there was total peace. We were ready to crush any insurrection or disruption by the undemocratic groups” (Museveni, 07.03.2021).
We are seeing his vicious mind, as he calls other people parasites and traitors, but there are no proof of this, but they are deemed so by the President. He can call opposition people this and say they have “foreign backers”. Just look at the previous comments on that. Will not dwell into that twice.
While he is easily stating the numbers of soldiers compared to the massive amount of sub-counties. However, we know the soldiers and brigades was put in strongholds. Where the state went after and arrested, kidnapped and abducted people associated with the opposition. That was reported in the night ahead of the polls. They are the insects who are in bed with foreigners and deserves in his words to be treated as traitors. That without any court charges, warrants or due process as according to the law. He speaks of total peace, but how can you call this peace? When you are doing this to your own?
If you need the army and Special Forces Command to go after civilians active in politics you are undemocratic by action. They are not undemocratic, but you are who are using the army to get your will and silence the opposition. That is far from democratic, as the state went after these folks and didn’t do it according to law. He claims these opposition people was planning an “insurrection” but no proof of that. Just like the often based allegation that someone is planning to burn the gas-stations in Kampala… and it never happens!
He ends it all with this “friendly” message:
“Therefore, “the disappearances” are a consequence of the essentially, treasonable acts of elements of the opposition. It is dishonest for anybody to talk about the mistakes, if any, of the Security Forces without talking about the origin of the problem: treason, using terrorism by the opposition. Criticize the Army if justified, but also criticize those taking the unconstitutional road of terrorism, intimidation, sectarianism etc” (Museveni, 07.03.2021).
By stating it like this… he is saying being in opposition to him is “treasonous”. He calls it certain elements and we know, which he directs that too. Not the ones who acts like opposition, but comes clinging him too in need. However, the ones who dares to oppose him and stand up against him. He claims they are planning terrorism and using an unconstitutional road. Nevertheless, there is no proof of t his and his activity and usage of the security organizations towards his citizens are unconstitutional.
The Constitution is clearly another weapon for him to use against his opponents, but not a guiding laws who everyone have to abide by, as if the opposition would have deserved a fair trial and investigations into its activity before their arrest. Alas, they are deemed as treasonous before any law enforcement have been put into play. It shows that his ideals and his “democratic” values isn’t there.
He is above the law and he can decide who is fit or not. He speaks of intimidation and acts of terrorism. However, the people who is captured, kidnapped and abducted didn’t act in a criminal enterprise, but was political active in a opposition party. In the end that is enough to called “treasonous” by the President. That says it all by his state of mind.
Your doing an act of treason if you dare to challenge, oppose or think of a peaceful transition… there is only one way and that is the way of Museveni. If you go up against him and wants him retired. Your act is treason. That shows that the personification of the state is Museveni and not its institutions. Peace.

“I am very happy to have attended this summit. We discussed some serious issues, including the issue of the disappearance of people. I have information about the disappearance of people. The security forces also have some information on this same and this will be made available in a disciplined way. I will ask the DPP to review the charges and organize a soft landing for some of the suspects in security detention because they have helped us to learn the schemes of their misleaders” – President Yoweri Tibuhurwa Kaguta Museveni at the IPOD Summit on the 5th March 2021
One definition of misleader is: “someone who leads astray (often deliberately)” (misleader – link:https://www.thefreedictionary.com/misleader). The old man with the hat is a man who does this deliberately. He says and acts like he doesn’t know, but everyone knows that he knows. Therefore, the IPOD Summit today and his speech is intentionally deceiving.
President Museveni can speak of peace, but wages war instead. He speaks of democracy, but detains his opposition. Therefore, the biggest misleader is himself.
By all means, he wants to look at Robert Kyagulanyi, Kizza Besigye and elsewhere as the misleaders, but he himself is the biggest one. Like for instance, as the Commander-in-Chief. The old mans knows who has ordered and who has kidnapped, abducted and been in-charge of the atrocities in the Republic.
President Museveni can act a fool, but we know that he knows. He knew who did it and who ordered it. Even if he ordered the arrests, the detentions in “safe-houses” and tortures of civilians participating in the opposition. He also knew if opposition activists and leaders was court martial as civilians in a military court. Also not getting bail or getting evidence of their supposed “criminal offence”. So, the political charges and injustice continues.
That shows hows insincere the old man is. That he thinks people cannot think for themselves. As the President appoints and delegates these roles in the Security Agencies and Organizations. The President has his men who does his bidding. If it is Chieftain of Military Intelligence (CMI), Internal Security Organization (ISO), Uganda Police Force (UPF) or Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF). Any of these are all following his command and his orders. So, if he feels like it and would like to hurt Bobi Wine. He could easily order the murders, the abductions and the kidnappings of it. While his Ministers acting dumb or stalling the truth from being released to the public.
President Museveni knows who is ordering the “drones” or “panda gari’s”. It could be even himself. Museveni could easily order the take down of Boda Boda 2010 and other organizations to connected to former IGP Kale Kayihura. That is why we know, that he wanted the atrocities to stop. He could just say the word and the activity would cease. However, the old man want to spread fear, intimidate and silence the opposition. As he doesn’t want a real challenge to himself. He knows he isn’t popular anymore and needs fear to boost himself in public.
It is really rich that he himself said this: “We are always ready to explain and also listen to the explanation of others. Unfortunately, some people have abandoned dialogue” (Museveni, 05.03.2021). Mr. I didn’t Respect the Nairobi Talks and the Dialogue in 1985. Mr. I rather bury my enemies and consolidate power, than actually have the full popularity as the mighty General. Talks ill of other people leaving a dialogue. When the state is not really showing any remorse or care for the acts its does. That shows the deceiving ways of Museveni and the NRM. When he thinks people are this stupid and eating of his hands.
Not like he will care of fix this. Unless, he feels in control or been able to silence the opposition. The President cannot expect the parties who has been scorned and hurt by the acts made by his men. Will suddenly talk and speak of peace. When there is no action towards all the lost and the ones suffering. Just because they are political active in the opposition. The President only wants to have them there for a publicity stunt. The IPOD didn’t happen today to make a difference, but it would have made more impact if the FDC and NUP had showed up. However, they knew what was up.
That is why the President is unhappy. He wanted them there as token pieces and show his “multi-partyism” but he didn’t care about that during the campaigns, the rallies, the road-blocks and all other activity to stop them from doing their political work ahead of the polls. The President is never accountable for that, but expect the same opposition who is blocked from sleeping in hotels to show up for his PR stunts. That is how insincere he is and he deserves to be rebuked.
If the President believed in dialogue, why did he block the internet and social media? Is that a manner of someone who let people talk? No, his mindset is only for his own selfish gains and not caring about the others. He would never accept the conditions he put on others. If he went through what the FDC has done over the years or what NUP went through this campaign. He would have run to the bush and waged war against himself. That is just a mere fact in all of this.
The biggest misleader is Museveni himself. He may not know it himself, but someone got to tell him that. Right now, it just happens to be me. Peace.

That today, the Inter Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) isn’t that relevant or have the finesse. It hasn’t had that for years. It’s been a waste of time and space. Only relevant for the President to have some “opposition” spectacles and mirage of multi democratic ideals. While we damn know he doesn’t aspire to does or work for it either.
President Museveni gets photo-op with Opposition leaders and write a small useless communique from a Summit. Not like it will amount to anything. Other than a few headlines and moving-on to the next unresolvable issue.
IPOD is as relevant as Apple’s own IPOD. Just like the tape-deck had its time. So did the Ipod too. The IPOD is irrelevant and it has happened, because the state and authorities haven’t cared for it and neither has the President.
The opposition parties in question ditching out is just wise of them. Just to prove a point. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) will name-call and call them useless. No matter what they did. They would call them that and ridicule them. Therefore, the dialogue is a waste of time. When the premise for it isn’t set or have any sort of fruitful agenda. It is just a puff piece and a PR stunt.
The IPOD is the radio-single nobody is asking for but is now overplayed. It has no value. Other than a catchy hook and headlines but will not be remembered for anything in 5 years’ time. Heck, nobody will remember the one-hit- wonder anyways.
President Museveni can show off and be proud that his meeting Mao and Akena. His loyal token opposition. The ones who has allies in his huge cabinet. Men who attacks the staunch opposition and see them leaving the folds. DP has lost so many over the last year and UPC is far from greatness.
IPOD is a useless enterprise with nothing to offer at this point. That is deliberate by the President and his men. His not investing in it or caring about the outcome. He just want to show-off opposition to outsiders and backers. To give it a self-belief of “multi-democracy”. While we are supposed to forget about the horrific actions, arbitrary arrests, abductions and extra judicial killings done to opposition activists, leaders and members.
The President and IPOD cannot overshadow the drones, the massive assault on the opposition and the hardships it is in. Some few kind words and poetic injustice cannot be flattered, but only amplified by the misgivings of the state. Therefore, IPOD at this day and age is totally useless. It got nothing to give and there is no interests in it.
It is insincere and living on a lie. The lie that the President cares and wants dialogue. When we know that he rather bury his enemies, than actually talking with them. Peace.

“He shared a photo of his new bullet-proof car,
Like a poor boy with a new gift on Christmas” – Dr. Stella Nyanzi (23.02.2021)
Since the 23rd February 2021 the exiled academic and activists, and former Kampala Woman MP candidate Dr. Stella Nyanzi have written poems about Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. These haven’t gone by in a fashion that she might have anticipated. She is undermining her efforts and her cause, if it is still her cause now that’s she’s in Nairobi.
Nyanzi have fought and people been by her side. She has not only fought for her academic position, but also an vocal activist on the side of Dr. Kizza Besigye. In the recent campaign and election. Nyanzi went after Bobi Wine, but when the polls was over and he was in house-arrest. She even wanted the public to demonstrate and go to his home in Magere. So, not long ago she had some sense.
Now, it seems all lost. Her attacks on him getting a bullet-proof car, having mansion and withdrawing a petition. While her own party didn’t petition the courts or even try the legal route. Which it haven’t done since 2011. We are just supposed to forget that now.
“The empty sloganeering leaves one hungry.
The vain promises of liberation quench no thirst” (Nyanzi, 23.02.2021).
She goes after Bobi Wine on this point, but how many campaigns and slogans haven’t the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) come with over the year, that haven’t amassed big movements and civil disobedience? She should look into the mirror of her own allies before throwing stones? This is just mockery and buffoonery, as she should work in tandem with NUP. NUP and FDC should join forces, not have activists going after Bobi Wine. That seems so dumb now. Especially, when the NUP activists are coming back dead after abductions. When NUP are seeing their candidates, activists gone missing, abducted and illegally detained, tortured and even killed. On top of that Nyanzi is saying they are just “sloganeering”. How dare she?
“The Demi-God stands tall.
He stands tall under his umbrella.
He will not be questioned.
He will not be criticised.
He will not be made accountable.
He will not be made fun of.
He makes no mistake at all” – Nyanzi (24.02.2021).
When you have lost the plot. A true man does mistakes, Bobi Wine has made mistakes and acted wrong. Even supporters of the NUP have called him out on it. However, you can kneel in front of Besigye, but not take accountability yourself for your own actions. As you are just going after Bobi Wine. You are just targeting him and his party. Though as that is making the cause better. Which I cannot see… what is your objective? What is your goal? Notoriety, maybe?
“And when the die was cast, there was no future of freedom.
He still puffs up his chest and crows like his cock.
I see many with their brand new identity cards.
But we are still bound in our chains of oppression” – Nyanzi (26.02.2021).
All the words she is using against Bobi Wine could have been put on Besigye years. Both men have inspired two generations of freedom fighters and people who wants a peaceful transition from the dictatorship. That is why its weird how she singles out and writes these pieces on Bobi Wine.
Its really striking that he has hit a nerve and damage her calm. His mannerism and words are clearly inciting something in her, which is going into her spine. She isn’t inspiring anything other than disdain. Instead of being vocal and getting people on her side. She’s twisting their hands off and spelling it out.
That its wrong and only hubris to support Bobi Wine. This is how it seems and its not a good look. Especially, how she is such a fanatic about Besigye. A person like that should be careful branding other people…
She needs to leave the internet for a bit. Nyanzi needs to leave it alone. Unless, she has a plan to soil her whole reputation and loose all support within the opposition. Unless, she wants to be fringe writer, who only is mocked and over sexualise politics. She’s a grown person and can do what she likes, but if she wants to be respected and seen a favourable view. Her current route is a road to self-destruction and that’s never a good look. Peace.

Today, Government Spokesperson Ofwono Opondo wrote an Op-ED that got published in Watchdog Uganda called ‘OFWONO OPONDO: Bobi Wine, People Power, NUP and the Poisonous Ends of Politics’. I will dissect his piece. Where I go through the most insincere paragraphs from his piece. As I will not go through it all. I will just show his sentiment and willing to distort the truth. In a manner, which isn’t right. It is not a new thing, but something that is done deliberately before.
So, before my introduction becomes to long. Here we go!
“There is evidently a disturbing sameness between Kyagulanyi and Besigye of old, seeking to exploit other people’s miseries like poverty and want for their poisonous ends. In political speak, Kyagulanyi now also calls President Museveni, ‘dictator’ and ‘corrupt’ which begs the question how toxic ideas and rogue language have found convergence allowing opportunists, demagogues, and potential fascists to gain entry and influence into mainstream politics” (OO, 09.02.2021).
It is very rich of OO calling the “usage” of poverty as an poisonous end. A government who has used poverty and the lack of funds as way of survival over the years. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) have promised to enrich and secure the future since its inception. The NRM and the President have promised to be a fundamental change and secure the peasants, which it never did. So, the possible poison in the water is what the government does. Since, they can never achieve to bring wealth and secure livelihood.
Secondly, the political speak is really easy to debunk. The President call people insects, vermin and leeches. The President and states own actions deems him a dictator. When the state arrests people for their political affiliation. When the state abducts political candidates, activists and supporters. They even return dead. So, the government spokesperson should consider the acts of his peers before he name-calls the opposition. If the government was so holy, why are they targeting the opposition in this manner and what would OO call this?
“Exploiting economic hardships and unemployment especially among the youths, Kyagulangi and NUP has built networks of riff-raff vigilantes around the country mainly in urban and suburban centres to harass citizens with all sorts of malevolent tactics including physical assault, violent robbery, arson and destruction to property. If left to roam unchecked, these groups could even kill” (OO, 09.02.2021).
He continues to push the use of poverty. That is really insincere from this government. Who has used all sort of tricks and schemes to every election. The state is giving and bribing voters around every election. Not like they are not doling out small gifts, but never seen the rest of year. That he call them riff-raff, is name-calling and making his own citizens into dubious characters. However, the NRM is always proud of getting NUP cadres into its fold. Just like they are proud of getting former NUPer becoming Presidential Advisors. That says it all and the state is the ones coming with guns, violence and tear-gas. So, that appears when the state comes in and use its law enforcement. Therefore, this story is old and is a lie. The protesters are burning tires and blocking roads. They are not directly causing violence. It is the state that kills its citizens and blame the protesters.
“Kyagulanyi, initially taking advantage of his music pop stardom built a cult-like following into what the so-called ‘people power’ movement that has now morphed into a political party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), which while has a semblance of countrywide presence, in reality, the just concluded election showed it is a tribal sectarian outfit” (OO, 09.02.2021).
It is really strange when one party who can only have one sole-candidate and everyone have to follow his orders. Is saying another candidate is “cult” like. If there was a party who has built a cult it must be the Movement itself. Nobody can challenge or questions the decrees, orders and speeches of Museveni. So, to call Bobi Wine a cult like character is very dubious at best.
It has been proven that the NUP have a nationwide presence. They have been able to field candidates across all parts of the Republic. Even in the short time of inception. The NUP isn’t a Baganda outfit, even if the state tries to portray that. The NRM should be careful with this, as most of the high ranking official is Western and Ankole based. So, OO should not throw stones in a glass house. The Bizonto elite of NRM should be more silent here. They know perfectly well, that the NUP and FDC is a mixed group and collective of all tribes across the Republic.
“Like Besigye, NUP leaders tell their gullible worshippers that poverty, unemployment and corruption are creations of Museveni, and not widespread global problems including in wealthier and developed countries” (OO, 09.02.2021).
Who is gullible OO? The ones still believing the NRM saving them after 35 years? The NRM have come with the same recycled promises and still haven’t delivered. That isn’t a global problem, but a self-inflicted and self-destructive economic policies. The state is running on deficits and grants, but not on domestic revenue. That is not the poor peasants fault, but the state who haven’t made it possible to get out of it. The state is the one putting policies and financial stimulus to ensure safety for the citizens. It is where the NRM have failed and haven’t delivered.
Calling NUP out like this only shows the fault-lines and where the NRM failed. It is not an indication of wrong-doing of the opposition. That is not taking into account the years of misrule of Museveni.
“The hyped claim that FDC and NUP are the people’s popular choices has been thoroughly disproved by their performance in the just concluded election, and although failure to sell as national brands is evident, FDC and NUP leaders won’t publicly admit, hence them resorting to political slander and smear” (OO, 09.02.2021).
This here is false statement. If rigged elections are indications of NRM popularity. I would say that pre-ticked ballots and ghosts are the greatest constituencies of the Movement. Both in 2016 and 2021 the rise of the opposition was evident. The same was also shown in 2011. So, it is not like the NRM have been as popular as it was in the mid-80s and early 90s.
The NUP and FDC have proven it, but the announced results always turn in favour. Even when the tallies doesn’t make sense and the Electoral Commission have to botch the numbers. The FDC and NUP amount of MPs in comparison shows how big they become. As the state are stopping them from working as parties and get a greater presence in the Republic. It is just like the NRM are never blocked or stopped. However, the NUP and FDC have a hurdle to do basic party works. That is really important to remember. It is just like we supposed to forget the tear-gas, arbitrary arrests and blocking of venues to campaign. If that had happened to the NRM itself, which is so “popular”.
“When reality strikes back as loud noise is not turned into votes, they cry about vote fraud and rigging but will never explain to the public as to why some MPs, LC5 chairpersons and thousands of councilors are returned unopposed on NRM tickets. The presidential election petition is now being used more for publicity stunt, soliciting public empathy and foreign funding than to seek legitimate justice” (OO, 09.02.2021).
The Empire strikes back at every election. Just like previously stated, the pre-ticked ballots and ghosts are always appearing in election time. The NRM couldn’t survive the elections without disqualifying and blocking opposition from attending on a grand scale. The NRM does what the UPC did in 1980s election, every single time. That is why they are fielding candidates everywhere, while the opposition isn’t able, because the state is blocking and ensuring the opposition from getting candidates.
To credit unopposed in the gerrymandering, the vindictive system and use of state machinery to get elected officials. That OO calls it a political stunt shows the disrespect of the opposition. However, his whole piece has been that. The NRM wouldn’t be alive without foreign funding and Museveni was a donor darling. So, the NRM cannot attack the Opposition for foreign funding. When it has been so vital … for the Movement itself.
“Anyone who can see the potential dangers these groups pose to Uganda’s politics ought to take a stand so that resurgent fascists are defeated at their nascent stage, otherwise the overlap between legitimate politics and criminality could engulf the fabric of our public life” (OO, 09.02.2021).
This is the last paragraph of his piece and he has already shown his character here. It is all opposition who is in the wrong. Not that the NRM and Museveni. No, it is Besigye and Bobi Wine. They are the bastards and the villains of the political sphere. It maybe feels like that for the NRM and Museveni, as they want to be praised and loved. However, it is hard to love someone who abduct your loved ones. The ones who Court Martial your campaign team and keep them behind bars without proving evidence. Therefore, if you speak of criminality. To use the state for political prosecutions, that is a violation of their rights to assemble, gather and organize itself. Nevertheless, that is never an issue for the NRM. So, to call out criminal activity, they can never state what it was, but they still behind bars. That is the self-reflection of the wrong-doings of the state, which OO defends on the regular.
This here was a despicable piece and deserve to dishonoured. OO should consider the words his using, as it can be easily mirrored back in his face. Which I did already. Peace.

“How did Mr. Museveni get here? does he think he is the only one with a monopoly over war? But we have been very clear that our plan B is non-violent. And this is not because we fear war. I don’t think there is a gun I can’t manage. But war can’t create democracy” – Dr. Kizza Besigye (04.02.2021)
The 14th January 2021 General Elections happened and today was the first big presser by the Forum for Democratic Change leader and renegade Dr. Kizza Besigye. Besigye is an inspiring fellow and a man who is resilient.
The leader is still as focused as ever. The FDC leader deserves credit for his words. His speeches and relevance is as huge as ever. There is nobody who is so incorporated and decisive. Besigye knows what is needed and told what is needed to topple the regime. However, the regime have been able to control him and stop his work.
Besigye is a big-man and a man on the frontline for freedom fighters and the ones for a peaceful transition of power. Today is no difference. Just these three quotes says it all.
Here is two key one:
“We must not sit back and watch when our young people are being kidnapped and tortured. All of us must be united in saying this must stop. And to stop it means that we must all act” (Besigye, 04.02.2021).
“The money they are using to hunt and torture us has been borrowed on our behalf. We are sending a strong message to the lenders of the regime that what they are doing is giving Uganda an odious debt” (Besigye, 04.02.2021).
Besigye was dropping facts during the Presser. The speech was powerful and is needed. There is a need to inspire for change. Besigye is a man that never let that goes. Bobi Wine has his message and his ways. He is the young generation who inspires as well. They both can use each other and galvanize the public.
Today Besigye proved his statute and his role again. Not that he never let that go. Besigye shows why he matters. Not that he went away, but his words are important. He has the ability to step aside and let others be the person. Because, the cause are bigger then the person. That is the proof of Besigye’s leadership.
Besigye is a man who continues to show his finesse and what he stands for.
Just like he also said: “An Election through the ballot cannot remove the Junta” (Besigye, 04.02.2021). This is something many of us has said and its true. The election that has happened now is evident of that. That is why his message is important.
Nevertheless, people are tired and not caring as much. They maybe got tired after the last failed attempt in 2016. Who knows, but he still is in the game and shows his character, which haven’t missed a beat. That is why his a wiser elder with wisdom and knowledge that people should tap into. Especially, the ones who wants to liberate the Republic and who wants to challenge the President. Peace.
