Cambodia: Outcome of the Phone Conversation between His Excellency PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, with Senator the Hon Marise Payne, Minister to Foreign Affairs and Minister for Woman of Australia (08.10.2021)

Opinion: A little lesson in pre-colonial history of Algeria [and that’s all thanks to the French disgrace of Mr. Macron]

Was there an Algerian nation before the French colonization? That is the question. There were previous colonizations. I am fascinated to see Turkey’s ability to make people totally forget the role it played in Algeria and the domination it exercised. And to explain that we are the only colonizers, it’s great. Algerians believe in it.” – President Emmanuel Macron

The French President Macron have again showed the world the arrogance of the French. The President should clearly go back to the school bench and learn something from history. Since, he shows the ignorance and arrogance of the Paris elite.

Macron is married to a teacher, but it seems like she has given other types of bed-time stories. The President should know about the Maghrib and the Berber dynasties. However, he thinks all history starts when the French occupies a territory. Not like the Algerian or the North African could have made states or even a viable nation.

The Almoravid movement made it possible to conquer areas from as far east as Algiers, today’s Morocco and up to the Ebro River of Spain. That was done by the time of 1106. After that the Almohads took control of Morocco by 1146 and continued by capturing Algiers around 1151. The Almohads had completed the conquest of central Maghrib. After 1999, the Zayanids founded a dynasty at Tlemcen in Algeria, which they controlled the Maghrib for 300 years and made the Tlemcen the “pearl of the Maghrib”.

This is just to name a few and shows there been people doing vital things in Algeria long before the French arrived and colonized Algeria. Heck, the Romans even took parts of Algeria as they occupied Tunisia and the Charthaginan state. The Punic wars waned the Romans power and the defeat of Carthage by 146 BC, which made Berber leaders influence grow in the hinterlands and with that loosely administered Berber Kingdoms that had emerged. Therefore, even back to this time there was civilization to reckon with, which wasn’t there before French arrived.

I have mentioned all of this without even mentioning military commander Khair ad Din and who became provincial governor of Maghrib in 1518, It was the Ottoman Sultan who gave him this role and Algiers became the centre of the Ottoman authority. This military commander is considered as the founder of modern Algeria. That is not a French man, but a man of their own.

The French started their blockade of Algiers in 1827, which lasted until 1830, but because of that failure. The French used that as an excuse for a military expedition, which later tuned into more expansive and by 1848 the northern parts of Algeria was under the French control. The Second Republic of France declared Algiers, Oran and Constantine as “integral parts” of France.

Franz Fanon wrote in ‘The Wretched of the Earth’ (1967) on page 210 he wrote:

Colonialism is not satisfied merely with holding a people in its grip and emptying the native’s brain of all form and content. By a kind of perverted logic, it turns to the past of the oppressed people, and distorts, disfigures, and destroys it. This work of devaluing pre-colonial history takes on a dialectical significance today” (Fanon, P: 210, 1967).

That’s what Macron is doing and it’s disgusting. He should know better, but maybe French arrogance is this way. Algeria has a rich history before the French colonized it. The French was brutal, killing Algerians and Berbers. The French had a bloody war to stop them from getting independence. Secondly, the French didn’t serve or help Algeria during the famine of 1930s neither. So, the French civilization isn’t that great, unless it unleash death outside of it’s own soil.

Macron should pick up a book and get some knowledge about the previous colonies before he opens up his mouth. Unless, he wants to be neo-colonial brat from the Paris elite. Who doesn’t value the pre-history of Françafrique countries. The French President is clearly not caring or valuing this. He still has the overlord mentality. It is tragic, but isn’t shocking. As this man has said disgraceful things before. Peace.

Malaysia: Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Announcement by Australia, United Kingdom and the United States on Enhanced Trilateral Security Partnership – AUKUS (19.09.2021)

Opinion: Stoltenberg got to prove his worth now

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has a massive hurdle to pass over. As French President Emmanuel Macron and the French government is reacting to a secretive alliance agreement between United States of America, United Kingdom and Australia (AUSUK).

This agreement or alliance is not only shaping the military alignment in Indo-Pacific sphere, but in Europe as well. The Biden Administration has with this thrown more shade and fire on a fickle organization. Which was already bickering and had lot of internal strife’s.

It is not like NATO has been running smoothly in the Trump era. No, it has been raised havoc and Trump has caused diplomatic furore over his actions. However, Biden is causing even more damage by selling sub-marines and making strategic agreements without considering close allies. This is not a wise move. The United Kingdom has been a running mate of Washington D.C. since the time of Tony Blair. So, it isn’t new on that front and post-Brexit this is just showing their own way.

Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has a huge burden on his hands. Not only clean up the mess left behind from Afghanistan and other missions associated with NATO. Now he also has a diplomatic task of epic proportions. He has to sit-down and discuss with all the allies. Stoltenberg has to appease the French, meet with Biden and zoom-call Prime Minister Scott Morrison. Because, this has to be settled.

NATO will pay a price for this. The levels of distrust the French feels might goes to others as well. Just like the Turkish are closing the waters of the Greeks in the Mediterranean. The Turks have blocked a Maltese vessel from doing it’s scientific mission in Greek waters. Therefore, Stoltenberg doesn’t only have Macron and the French to appease.

An alliance like NATO builds it’s structure on trust and protocol. This was not only business of military industries of the French, but of their pride as a sovereign within an alliance. They were promised and this wasn’t kept. While the NATO members haven’t talked or been upfront about things. That hurts the pride of Paris and surely they will feel betrayed by their allies. USA and UK might not care, but do they really want more friends anyway?

Stoltenberg has to be clever. He got to be wise and hopefully he got good council at NATO. Since these troubling times will not be easy on him. He has to stand stall until the end of his office in September 2022. Stoltenberg has had the office in 2014 and he thought the idiotic times Trump would be bad enough. However, this will be his biggest personal challenge.

As the Secretary General he has to be strong, confident and humble meeting these Head of State. Stoltenberg needs to confine and find time to build trust. He needs reassurance and security on behalf of the alliance. While trying to forge relations between Macron, Biden, Johnson and Morrison. These has to appeased and feel the vibe. That will not be easy. Yes, Stoltenberg is a seasoned politician and has touched upon trouble before.

Nevertheless, this will be a huge operation. It cannot be saved by speeches or poetic statements. No, this is mending wounds and healing relations between allies. That will not be easy. Especially, when the French says it could even ditch the whole alliance. This is why Stoltenberg have to show character and do it quick.

If NATO is still going to matter. Stoltenberg have to prove it and he got to show courage. He needs to go to Paris, Washington D.C., London and Canberra. Stoltenberg needs to show his whole skill-set of diplomacy and political game of compromise.

This will not be easy. Stoltenberg has to pass over this mountain with a proper compass or a map. He needs to follow streams, use his gut-feeling and follow the lights on the horizon. There will be no second chances and he got deliver. NATO depends on it….

Stoltenberg has to prove it’s validity and it’s value. While building trust…. that’s huge task and it’s his to bear. He got to carry it and resolve the matter. That is an unforgiving mission, but that’s what he signed up for when he accepted the office. Peace.

Mali: Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) – EFF Calls on France to Stay Away from the Conflict in Mali (05.06.2021)

Tchad: Le C.N.C (Conseil National pour le Changement) – Communique No. 001 (23.04.2021)

Opinion: “Useful Tchad” continues for the French

Since the assassination Idriss Déby Itno, the President for Life in Tchad. Now there is a coup d’etat in favour of the son Gen. Mahamat Kaka Déby Itno. This is initially supported and getting validated by having French President Emmanuel Macron at the funeral of the father today in N’Djamena.

The father like Son both took power with arms. It was the weapons giving them power. It wasn’t popularity or an election. Gen. Kaka is following the same structure and using the trick of a Transition Military Council (TMC). He is doing it, because the West has accepted that in Mali and Sudan too. Stability over proper governance.

The French wants to friendly and have a part of the “useful” part of Tchad. The southern Tchad is a place of which it has interests and can gain control over. The useless northern Tchad is another issue. The French wouldn’t care less. Only that they need to quell rebellion and stop insurgency crossing through the Sahel Region.

That is why its useful to have an armed junta in N’Djamena. It is very valuable. That sort of “stability” is more valuable than coins. They can have a military base and be able to swiftly fight insurgency in the previous colonies of West Africa. Tchad is poor and is even more impoverished with rights and justice. That’s why its perfect to have same family ruling the Republic. They are proper servants for Paris and their accords for peace in the Sahel Region.

Gen Kaka might continue his good relations to the Rapid Support Force (RSF) or Janjaweed in Sudan. Where he can trade goods and training to the government sponsored militia who can cause havoc and tragedies in Darfur. This continues and its relentless. While the French sponsors and legitimize the reign of another Déby Itno.

We know the French wants a finger in the Republic because of the petroleum and uranium of Tchad. They are not there out of solidarity or charity. No, they are there for business. This is why they have no trouble supporting the coup d’etat of this week and ensuring “stability” so their interests are secured. There is nothing else here.

Macron hopes Gen. Kaka can be a token soldier for him and continue to be useful person for him. The French doesn’t value democracy or liberty. They just want their interests covered in the former colonies. That is why the French let family run the former republics. This is just another one where this happens.

It is a reason why the northern are having a rebellion and going against N’Djamena. They want to prove a point and not accept this takeover. The Déby Itno family doesn’t own Tchad. Even if it acts like it does. It is time for proper elections and sincere polls. Not just sham elections in favour of one single candidate who already came into power by the guns. Peace.

Ghana: Declaration by the Government of the Republic of Ghana on the Adoption of the ‘ECO’ by UEMOA (28.12.2019)

Opinion: The ECO seems like halfbaked CFA

By my reckoning, the rebranding of Central African Franc (CFA), which was the relic of the colonial French rule in Western African states. During the last few 48 hours, there is news of a new currency, which has implications, but also imperfections.

The ones praising this move is naive. The reason is simple, Emmanuel Macron or the French is still not giving way to power nor influence. They are still having their hand in the cookie jar. They are still involved with the inner-works of the financial sphere of the former colonies. They are maybe stopping the control directly from the National Bank of the French.

This move is to ease the pain of the past, but still the French and the European Union will have their stakes in it. As the pegged currency will be accordingly traded towards the Euro. A Euro, which the French has influence over in the EU. Therefore, the former colonies and the ones accepting this “ECO” Currency are accepting control from Paris and Brussels still.

They are maybe done with the regulations of CFA and the banking system as known today. But the ECO will be measured after the Euro. This is all a condition, that still benefits the former colonizer. If it wouldn’t, he wouldn’t have accepted it. Not like the French wants to loose influence nor the ability to easy trade with former colonizes. Why do you think most of the cars in Tunisia is French and not a random Skoda?

With that in mind, the ECOWAS was not launching this, but Macron was. Therefore, the whole thing seems like ploy to leave one relic behind, hoping people would be so happy that they don’t look into the mechanisms of the new currency. Not like the French would ever drop influence nor their strong hand over Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger, Senegal & Togo. All of these will still be semi-controlled by Paris.

I have a hard time believing the intent of the French is to give way. No, this is just a shift to extend their power and find new measures to secure it. By remaking the former currency and the monetary union these nations have. Not like they are suddenly creating their own or having 8 separate ones. If they did that, then it might been significant. Where the own national banks, together with Ministry of Finance would make and ensure the safety of own national currency accordingly and necessary for their own Republic.

To remake and rename, only questions the motives behind the move. Other, than trying to clean the dirt of your hands and call it good days work. After years of questioning the currency and the stranglehold of these Republics. By having appointed men in their National Banks and having their gold in Paris.

I lack faith, but I am also very cynical about it. I’m not easily buying into it. I am hopefully wrong. Until the measures, until the mechanisms are all out and the proof of a vital change. It just seems like a small ploy to trigger hope for a difference, when its really just a new name and the same landlord over it. Its still the same farm and the same output, but the master just renamed the land differently. Peace.
