Burundi: Congres National pour la Liberte (CNL) – Communique de Presse du Parti CNL (10.08.2024)

“The way in which Burundians are developing themselves is very satisfactory. Regarding the level of agriculture and livestock, it is obvious that each Burundian easily has enough to eat with a surplus of his harvest that provides him with money in his pocket” – President Evariste Ndayishimiye (19.06.2024).
The people, the citizens of Burundi should be disappointed in their President. The CNDD-FDD and the regime itself is reckless in its action. Especially, if you take into account the State of the Nation address of President Evariste Ndayishimiye, which was also a celebration of his fourth year as the Head of State.
The CNDD-FDD should celebrate their power and achievements, but it is on a dire note. The lingering fuel shortage, lack of foreign currency and whatnot is hurting the republic. The Burundian people are hurting and suffering as a consequence of it. The financial distress and such are now a big problem of the republic. The leadership of the republic has to react and do something.
Nevertheless, the President seems to be oblivious to the fact and doesn’t want to act upon it. The national address proves that he doesn’t care or isn’t worried about the plights of the commoner. No, he don’t see it and says they have done what they can.
Just read this here…
“From the beginning of our mandate, we have been committed to promoting food self-sufficiency because we knew that you can’t work without having eaten. We also promised that every person should have the money to support themselves. Today, I am delighted to note that the lamentations of some people are limited only to the lack of certain products to be imported, but obviously do not concern the lack of money to obtain them” (Ndayishimiye, 19.06.2024).
“I am proud of the liveliness displayed by Burundians. Some people build beautiful houses, wear beautiful clothes and eat to their satisfaction and this gives us hope for a better future. Some already aspire to be more comfortable, more in their well-being. It is true that I am aware of some lamentations and grumblings, but it is quite normal that there is one or the other thing to covet in life. However, rest assured, food is abundant in Burundi” (Ndayishimiye, 19.06.2024).
We know this story isn’t true and the dire realization will come sooner or later. The CNDD-FDD is maybe living lavish and having a good lifestyle right now. The elites and the militants of the state is living large, but the others are suffering. There is major pain and troubled waters. Where people are hungry and lacking ability to buy commodities. That’s a fact and people are struggling with higher prices as it doesn’t fit their salaries or even the cost of transportation for that matter. Therefore, the President is mocking these people.
The people should be shocked that this is how little the Head of State thinks of them. That he doesn’t see what they are going through and even cares about their daily struggle. He thinks they are able and additional money in their pockets. However, there are so many who goes hands-to-mouth and begs for a better tomorrow. Those the President doesn’t see and is ignorant about. He doesn’t care about their existence.
That’s what I am hearing and it’s sad. The Head of State should be worried and work endlessly to make things better for the citizens. However, in regards to Ndayishimiye he works for himself and his inner-circle. That’s what I am hearing. Peace.

There is reports of lacking of fuel at fuel stations in the Republic. The ones that has are selective in who gets to use the pumps and people are paying a heavy price for transport. The inflation of prices and lack of steady fuel is creating huge costs on the commuters and the ones who has to travel to work.
There are a saying of “dry stations” and stoppage of driving schools. As people cannot travel or buy fuel. The Ministry of Energy and Mines said that they are assessing the situation and are concerned about it. As they working hard to make fuel available and sufficient qualities. However, that is yet to be seen.
So, the passengers and the ones who needs transport are in dire need. It is a distress and it hurts everyone. The economy is becoming stagnate and people are losing valuable time, as they cannot get back-and-forth. People who needs transports to schools, work and whatnot are lost in a tidal-wave.
The CNDD-FDD have failed here. They are misusing their office and not doing their diligence. This could have been foreseen and there should have been a back-up plan. If the state lacks foreign currency or such. They should have ensured the importers and the ones who needs it have it. As this is vital for the Republic itself.
You know its bad when the workers are walking from home and long distances. As if there isn’t anyone who can give them a lift or they can take to get in time. This is hurting the economy and stifling any sort of progress.
The government and state must be broke. It must be bankrupt and lack funds. This isn’t a sign of strength or sustainability. No, this is a sign of weakness and lack of preparation. The regime is coming with all sort of excuses.
It is either lack of foreign currency, international sanctions or even connected to the ones that wants to sell Burundi fuel. This is three different excuses from various parts of the government. Just showing no accountability or transparency on the matter. Moving the goal-post and hoping someone believes them. As if, they couldn’t have resolved it or even find measures to ensure safe imports. The state should have mechanisms, government entities and whatnot to cover this. However, they rather misuse office and rampantly live lavish on the public coffers. That’s why we are here and people are queueing to get fuel at the petrol-station.
Just to put things into context, the 4 seaters taxis are now filled 10 people at the time. Because of scarcity and the costs. They are even nicknamed “VIPs” because of the costs of taking them. That is saying something about the trouble and lack of fuel.
This should send alarm bells in the State House. Gitega and the leaders of Bujumbura should react and fast. It is the sort of thing that brews discontent and revolutions, as people cannot afford daily life and loses all hope. That’s what the CNDD-FDD is serving the public and arrogantly think they can get away with.
The Presidency and the CNDD-FDD needs to do something. They got too. Every day with this is only causing more pain and distress. It will only give more fire to the fury and the lid on the pressure-cooker could brew over. The ones who thought the demonstrations of 2015 was bad. It could be more dire and more heavy this time around. People are hungry and they want to eat. Peace.

“An evening of tears in the city of Bujumbura!
In the evening of 10-05-2024, grenades were thrown in the city of Bujumbura. The information we obtained indicates that two grenades were thrown at 7:30 p.m., where many people were queuing for transport buses, in front of the location of the old main market in Bujumbura. Some of those at the scene reported that 13 people were injured, all were taken to hospital. Another grenade was reportedly thrown near a police camp responsible for institutional security (formerly called API). Here, no details of the damage are yet known” (FOCODE, 11.05.2024).
In Bujumbura and Gitega there is a will to propagandize the tragedy that happened on the 10th May 2024. There are several innocent people who has lost their lives and people scorned who are suffering as a consequence. That is the deep tragedy in this… as lives are taken and people are hurt for life after the grenade attacks in Bujumbura.
There are reports that the authorities has cracked down with arbitrary arrests in the Chiboke neighbourhood of Bujumbura. That’s youths and young people who are rounded up as suspects of the grenade attacks. Even when there are speculations that the CNDD-FDD has used their own Youth Group the “Imbonerakure” or the SNR to spread fear in the metropolitan area.
If the authorities and the security organizations themselves are behind these attacks as a “propaganda” victory or using it for their cause. It is really disturbing that the innocent lives are taken so the CNDD-FDD can blame Rwanda (Kigali) or the Red Tabara rebels for that matter. Therefore, there is a need for an independent investigation. Which is credible and tells the whole story of the culprits and who ordered or initiated the grenade attacks.
Because this story in itself and the usage of a false flag isn’t new. That the Burundian government wants to vilify Kigali makes sense. As the CNDD-FDD are enemies of the Kagame regime in Rwanda. They are not talking and having diplomatic disputes as is at the moment. So, the idea that the authorities would blame Kigali is within the realm of Modus Operandi of the State.
This is why there is a need for proper independent investigation, as it claims the RED TABARA on behalf of Rwanda attacked Burundi on the 10th May 2024. That’s a loud allegation, which needs more meat to the bones. Yes, RPF and Kagame has had proxy-wars and conflicts for personal gain in the region for decades. However, to say so and claim so… you need reports and proof. Not just “hot-air” and “say so”. That’s not enough. Especially not for the victims and the innocent people’s who was hurt by the grenades.
This is just sad, but hopefully some sincere information will come out. Though the authorities rather spin the news than telling the facts. Peace.
