South Sudan: Humanitarian Coordinator condemns killing of aid worker, calls for the release of seven others held by armed group (10.04.2018)

“A mirage is a sort of optical illusion, a reflection of light that can trick the mind into interpreting the sight as an apparently solid thing. It makes sense, therefore, that the word mirage has its roots in the concept of vision. Mirage was borrowed into English at the dawn of the 19th century from the French verb mirer (“to look at”), which also gave us the word mirror. Mirer in turn derives from Latin mirari (“to wonder at”). Mirari is also the ancestor of the English words admire, miracle, and marvel, as well as the rare adjective mirific (meaning “marvelous”)” (Merriam-Webster – ‘Mirage’ 02.04.2018)
The Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission (IEBC) announced today, that CEO Ezra Chiloba would be put on temporary leave after an internal review and report. This was a decision made by the Commissions Plenary Meeting on the 6th April 2018. Still, what is striking the reluctant attitude towards delivering any substance of reasons. This isn’t the first time the CEO Chiloba was put on this sort of leave, then he was chilling at a Hotel, while the Fresh Presidential Elections was on-going.
Not like the IEBC can be trusted, as the breaches, the server connected to Cambridge Analytica, the death of the ICT Manager Chris Msando, the tenders to OT Morpho for the fraud of BVR Equipment, combined with Safaricom and the ones already printing the ballots. The whole 2017 in the eyes of IEBC should be how to shatter all public trust in one institution. There was two rounds of Presidential Elections and none of them was trustworthy, because of all lacking performance of the IEBC. I don’t care if the Carter Center, American Ambassador or the IGAD/AU Mission praise the events.
The lack of respect for voter registration, the bounds of how many who could actually vote differed with times. The voter turnouts was extreme and abnormal, the evidence of corrupt forms and the lack of oversight was evident. As even parts of the political players gave-up following the IEBC and their inner-works, it was a shoddy display and lack of character. The display of ignorance and cooking the books was the mission of the IEBC. They worked so hard to make things official, but in the end. Only the naive or the ones paid to, would believe the numbers and the calculations. The 26th October 2017 and the 8th August Election 2017. Are two strikes of injustice done to the Kenyan people in favor of the Jubilee Party.
They can try to say, we are putting him on leave, so Chiloba can learn his lesson. But they have used that trick and it was all in vain. That because the system is made for rigging, because the political powers to be, want it rigged. Kenyatta and Ruto wanted it rigged and secured in their favor. They couldn’t care less about the will of the people. They are useful props in the Harris Media/Cambridge Analytica/PSCU messages and press releases. Rest of the time, they are just a hassle that comes with the job.
The IEBC cannot use the same mirage, the same trick twice, they did the same to him in October 2017. Now they are pulling the same plug in April 2018. Like we don’t know the IEBC is lying to us yet again. Because someone wants to push the agenda and make a forgery look real. It looks like Monet, but the brushes is not. It is a make believe, a copy and a fraud.
The IEBC has to work harder to be taken serious. We know they are a machinery to deliver the wanted results the Jubilee wants. To say something different would be taken as a fool. I prefer not to be, especially with knowledge of how these people rig the game. The end-game in favor of the rulers and policy makers.
The Chickengate brought down one part of the IEBC, but the not the part of the rigging, neither the part of suspect tenders and corporations ready to cook the books. So the IEBC got a lot of work to do and that does not involve playing tricks with society. Unless, that was the brightest idea Cambridge Analytica could come-up with. Peace.

Today, seems like a small victory for Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire and the silent President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo. The Victory is that after weeks and nearly a month of political stand-off between the gentlemen, the Lower House Speaker Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari. What is suspicious, is that it is resolved after millions of dollars coming from a Private Plane from United Arab Emirates landed in Mogadishu yesterday. It seems so fitting, that the ones behind the most controversial army base in Somaliland, and also the DP Port in Berbera, Somaliland. Suddenly, comes like Santa Clause to Mogadishu.
24 hours later, a stand-off between two parties are settled, while “investigations” into the money transaction continues. I am not saying people are bought-off, but it is seemingly so. To the RFI English Radio, Minister for Constitutional Affairs Abdurahman Hosh Jibril has said after law, the new Speaker has to be elected within 15 days. This would a sign of change or more control by the President and Prime Minister. It has already been reported that Farmaajo had tried to get Jawari to resign.
The Prime Minister has on the other hand, ordered a full lock-down of Mogadishu, sent Danab Force to the Parliament and also used Bancroft Mercenaries there. Therefore, the ones in the Executive Branch and highest positions has used fear to install the ones they want to have. While we can question the money of UAE yesterday, the UAE themselves saying it was money for salaries of the Somali National Army. Also coming out, is that the Military Base in Puntland from the UAE will be used as a launching pad for military activity in Yemen. Clearly, the internal in-fighting, has external consequences.
This clear interfering in Somali national is clear and they are trying to pay it off and in this instance, it has worked. Since the Speaker Jawari had to resign after long days of stand-offs and misfires. We now know that the Executive Branch is trying to steer the whole Parliament. They not guiding, but trying to steer the wheels directly. This is the initial part of this activity, they don’t want someone whose thinking for themselves as Speaker. They want a loyal puppet for the PM and the President. Why else go this far to get rid of him?
The PM Kheire and President Farmaajo, wouldn’t have this much time and come with such retaliations against a man, if there wasn’t something in it for them. To think otherwise is a bit naive, you don’t send the Danab Force to the Parliament, because you love or care about Parliamentary Procedures. You do it to send a signal and show your power. You don’t use American Mercenaries on the streets around to show grace and mercy, but install even more fear. That is what the PM has done and to think otherwise, is still naive.
That there are more than what reflects in the water, that is clear. What we do know is that there are reasons for this. If it is Soma Oil and their dealings, if it is UAE and their dealings. If it is that the Speaker wouldn’t follow the directions of the PM. That might be true, but what this has shown is how weak the President is and how powerful the PM is. The PM is the power actor behind it all, he was the one who raised the stakes. Also, because the Speaker and his group of MPs put a “no confidence” on the PM as well. Certainly, that will not be tabled. Neither the motion on Jawari.
But, even as this is a small victory for Khaire and Farmaajo, it isn’t really winning anything. They have lost face, their transgression has been proved and their lack of process is proven. Their missions and their acts are now in the open. There aren’t enough American drones to get rid of enemies of the ones who wants power. That should the PM and President know, but seemingly, they don’t.
Jawari is now out, but the struggle for supremacy is far from over. The Lower House still needs someone to lead it and stand behind the protocol and rules of the Parliament. That cannot be swept under the rug, but the PM and President want their man there.
This is not a real victory, it is a loss and that is evident. What is next is inevitable, that someone who can follow orders from the PM and President will become the Speaker. But if that will make the situation better, I doubt it. It will just get more tense and more of the ones who was behind Jawari will feel disfranchised. Unless, the PM tried to buy them-off too. Time will tell. Peace.

Just as anticipated, but the Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi is saying goodbye to Raila Odinga and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). This is happening the day after FORD-K leader Moses Wetang’ula said the same yesterday. They are both sounding like Raila’s Ex-Girlfriends. Instead of looking into their own failures, like career politicians they are blaming Odinga for his pact with Kenyatta.
While Mudavadi is a conning politician, he was riding the popularity and the shining sun in 2017. This while the National Super Alliance (NASA) was relevant and the ideas of political was worth it. Now, that the Canaan project is suspended and dead, the alliance is falling to pieces too. This not only because of the Kenyatta-Odinga pact, which Mudavadi ridiculed today. He should have a little more ice, because Odinga outsmarted the NASA Co-Principals after they betrayed him. That is all known, but still Mudavadi and Wetangula has acted with disrespect, while Odinga hasn’t retaliated.
I struggle to sympathy for someone says this sort of things in Church on a Sunday. Using his platform and space to attack Odinga, now that he isn’t a Co-Principal and saying “goodbye”.
Mudavadi is really following Wetang’ula, but it is not grown. Neither unexpected, since this was in cards. That Mudavadi would retaliate was to be expected, even if he feels sour about the pact. He should look into his own inaction, when Odinga needed it the most, when he was swearing-in on the 30th January 2018. When Mudavadi was busy scheming and finding ways of being opposition without any cost. That I don’t like the pact either by Odinga and Kenyatta, is another thing, but Mudavadi wish he was a part of it. Therefore, the dream of Canaan is super-dead today, even as Jesus has risen from the dead. But, that will not revive the dream of another Kenya right now. Unless, something changes and the elites not continue to eat.
The political class and dynasties has taken control again, left everyone else behind. That is why this is so infuriating. That the Odinga-Kenyatta families continues to control the politics and everyone else follow suit. That Wetang’ula and Mudavadi is now breaking from NASA. Is something that could be anticipated since the Swearing-In. They already showed lack of loyalty. That Odinga found a way out for himself and his party, also could be expected. Even if it would more of a legacy, if he had followed the course. Fought and continue to fight the system, instead of offering it legitimacy.
That Odinga lost Mudavadi and Wetang’ula, isn’t a direct big-loss now, since he has more to do with the Jubilee, than with them. He is more inclined to deliver within the parameters of the dialogue. Not be specific and save the disloyal Co-Principals. That is also understandable, even if the whole project of dialogue and talks is flawed. Because, it is only going skin-deep and not fixing the issues that gave the rigged government all powers.
That is why the opposition of Odinga-Kenyatta pact could now galvanize the public. But not that I believe these Co-Principals has it in them. There is need for fresh blood and not more of the old political scheming elite, whose only ways to eat. Not to deliver policies or direct changes of governance or respecting institutions. Mudavadi belongs in that bracket and always been fishing for someone to hook him up with some power. Now, Odinga has left him behind. Therefore, he can break-way, but not directly see his new path.
Mudavadi has to reinvent himself, he just looks like a fisherman trying to catch a fish, either by nets or by hooks. Certainly, not a good look. He looked for the long-con by ditching the Swearing-In and now has to find the short-con to find a way. That will not be Canaan, but something else. What that will be is most likely a way to fill his plate and have a fancy stake on the state reserves. Peace.

Today, it is official, the National Super Alliance is officially scrapped and the project is doomed. That has been known for a while, but be exact, the cracks was there. When the likes of Moses Wetangula, Musalia Mudavadi and Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. All of them was not to be seen at the Swearing-In of Raila Odinga as the President on the 30th January 2018. Therefore, the words of Wetangula today cannot be seen as sincere.
It is okay to see Wetangula is hurt, he has lost the post within the Senate to Orange Democratic Movement James Orengo. That must hurt his pride, but he himself bailed on the NASA project, when not showing up at Uhuru Park. The reason why Wetangula feels betrayed is that Odinga was able to outsmart him and make a deal with Kenyatta on the 9th March 2018. While leaving all the Co-Principals behind. I don’t blame, I don’t, but he shouldn’t talk about urination and feel to tricked.
Wetangula was part of trio under Odinga, who bailed him when he needed them the most. They didn’t stand behind in or even tried to show support. The ones that did that, ended either with loss of weapons license, deported or even detained while the NASA was seen as illegal group by the Ministry of Interior and CS Fred Matiangi. However, that is totally lost on the former Co-Principal.
Just as the talks of union between the parties of Mudavadi and Wetangula, the third one is busy re-branding his party. Therefore, the trio is trying to find their post-NASA now. They are seeking relevance. The way Wetangula is doing it, is by trying to tarnish Odinga. Yes, Odinga bought himself freedom and sold the cause. However, by the actions of the Co-Principals, they didn’t really believe in either. If they did, they would have reacted when the People’s Assemblies was suspended. When the deal was made and tried to find solutions. Instead, they have been following when it seemed profitable, but today, Wetangula seems determined to walk away from it all.
I don’t blame Wetangula, that he wasn’t part of the deal with Kenyatta, that none of the trio was a part of it. But Odinga didn’t really have these men support. When didn’t show up in need or really showing direct support. As the ODM are the biggest party in the coalition and the ones with the most to loose. Not, that Wetangula see that figure out in the coalition agreement. It seeming all about him and his post. That is why people are throwing shade his way. The humiliation of losing the position in the senate. Instead of wondering himself, if his own inaction shouldn’t cost for him too?
Not that I like that Odinga gave up Canaan for own self interests. But I don’t like hypocrites either. This is that, when Wetangula attacks Odinga and put the blame directly only on him. Without looking into the ones cracking the bottle, showing the true intent and gave way for Odinga to walk on his own. If the Co-Principals had been by him on the Swearing-In, while the bridges was burning and the risks was all time high. The coalition would have made sense, but after that. There was for each one of them to find their own. Since the sincerity of it all. Went down the drain with train with the lack of courage.
So now that the storm of the Swearing-In has gone, there is a months time since the handshake, the reality is that knives are now out. The lack of loyalty to cause is the reason. Many has given it up and the pipe-dream it all was. The Political Dynasties took again control and left the ones believing in good governance behind. Not that is Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka or Wetangula, because they didn’t have heart to stay in the storm. They didn’t leave harbor to find the angry sea to hard to cross.
Certainly, I could have been more apologetic, but in this case, its not worth it. They are trying to find ways to eat, without caring how well-rigged the recent elections was and how many who got hurt by the 26th October 2017 elections, neither how much interference by Cambridge Analytica, Harris Media and other companies hired by the Jubilee. To alter and fix the needed results the President needed. If the opposition leaders had worked on that and tried to find the truth. It would have made sense, but they are scheming to find the new path to a thicker pocket. It isn’t cute, it disgusting.
Now, the Co-Principals are putting the blame-game on Odinga. But first they should look into themeselves. Not because it is about Odinga, but because their own in-actions matters too. Peace.

“I would like to assure you that Museveni is here to stay. He has the power, the money and other resources that are necessary to push this country to greatness,” Nankabirwa said” (…) “Those who opposed the move to amend the presidential age limit are now living cowardly. They feel ashamed of the fact that their efforts proved them wrong at the end of the day. For us in NRM we proudly say that our stand was the best for Uganda,” she said” (Namanya, 2018).
Ruth Nankabirwa, the government chief whip continues her praise and being a loyal subject of the President. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni must be giddy to have someone praising him in this manner. She is now a useful mouthpiece, she is praising him and heavier, than Beti Kamya, which in itself is special. In the championship of praising Museveni in the current day, Nankabirwa is in the pole position, even in front of Lewis Hamilton.
She is now praising him and allying herself with him, in a way, where her fate is bound by what happens with Museveni. There isn’t anything of policies or political belief. It is just bound by her alliance with Museveni.
This here is just an act to solidify her position and show that she is loyal to the President. That is why she is even proud of the abolishing the Age Limit in the Constitution. Just to give more time and ability for the President to continue to rule. When the NRM speaks for the best, it is the best for the President and then the Republic. Because the President always comes first. Last mentioned was Uganda. That is because, Uganda has been blessed with Museveni in their eyes. He can do nothing wrong and if he does it you too blame.
That is why the President is quick to blame his cronies and his own people, there is never his fault. But he expects that people like Nankabirwa praises him and gives him the fountain of honor. Not that a man of his stature do wrong or doesn’t listen to advice. Even fellow peers at the time of the makings of the Constitution, warned him about term limits. That he didn’t want to hear, but had to revise when he had spent that time in office and didn’t want leave. The same appeared again, as his age was closing in on him.
Now, the President needs his fellow MPs and Cronies to praise him, even if it is wrong. The people who was against abolishing the age limit isn’t cowards, but they have just seen the Republic and the Parliament, mostly sold to the President. They are not representatives anymore of the people, but of the President. There are few who are real and who try within the system to represent the people. However, there is very few and those who does, like even within the NRM would be fined and sanctioned by the Party. The NRM Rebel MPs was even talks of sanctioning them.
Nankabirwa, we know your loyal, but your words are still not true. Museveni isn’t a visionary anymore, and your just trying to catch your next paycheck. We understand, we do and we are not blind sheep following without thinking straight. It is hard to believe that Museveni will bring the republic to greatness now.
Museveni has had 32 years and there is still very little progress made and the achievements of the past is now getting tarnished with time. Also, the lack taxation, the added debt and the cronyism that is destroying the state. If that is greatness in Nankabirwa eyes, than I am sorry, but I beg to differ. It isn’t greatness, its self-inflicted destruction of the state in favor of one man and his cronies. That is not development, but using the state as a racket. It has been done now for over 30 years. However, that is just me. Peace.

“IGAD Member States must hold an emergency meeting to resolve the protracted political crisis between Legislature and The Executive branches of Somalia Government in order to protect the gains made in security and stability under President Faramaajo. UAE should not undermine the sovereign of the Somali people and its legitimate institutions to function” (Hon. Aden Duale, 06.04.2018).
This is ironic, very ironic, that Intergovenmental Authority on Development (IGAD) should intervene in Somalia after the President and Prime Minister has worked hard to get rid-off the Speaker of the Lower House in Parliament. Where the two leaders has done whatever in their power to get him to resign and stop having a role in the National Assembly. However, the AMISOM, Danab Forces and all the other defensive organizations has been involved. As the motions hasn’t been put or been able to do so. Because of the political stalemate and stand-off, where the President and Prime Minister has lost face.
That is why it is ironic, that a political stand-off between the parties, which has already been involved with foreign forces, that the IGAD has an issue with the UAE in one of their member states. However, for the IGAD it must be a pickle, because to destroy the deal will also cost Ethiopia, which is also a member state. Somaliland government might end on the chopping board, but it will not do things to hurt Ethiopia. That will just not happen, IGAD will not seal the deal. They are not capable.
To call on IGAD, would be more for a PR Stunt, the AMISOM and Somali National Army has to take more cover and secure the manners as it is. Even if the supposed crisis is supposed to be solved on their own. But with the foreign brigades, the mercenaries from both United States and elsewhere, you can wonder if this will go away. That the foreign interests and the possible profits of ports and oil, will become more dire. As the politicians are trying to get their pay-offs. To say something else, is at this stage to be naive and hopeful.
That the Kenyan Majority Leader Duale calls on IGAD. Shows that Somalia needs more foreign involvement to solve self-made political crisis. That is not a sign of strength or protocol. Neither, is a good look, that someone whose army is part of the peacekeeping, but also directly on the border. Is planning to use Multi-National Organization to solve the issue. Instead, of this coming from internally and part of the Parliament itself.
As the self-inflicted problems created by the President and Prime Minister has to be solved. They have to look into themselves, as they have violated the Parliament, misused security organization to insight fear and even lock-down the capital in advance of pushing their motion against the speaker. This sort of activity cannot appear and it only shows lack of parliamentary progress. As the leaders of it is creating this.
IGAD, AMISOM and UNSOM shouldn’t be in the midst of the hornets nest waiting to sting. They will only patch the hurt, but will not fix the underlining issue. The second part of the irony of Hon. Duale. Is that he has issues with UAE, but he as Kenyan has no problem with interfering in Somalia. Which is interesting in itself and should be discussed. Because it shows the mentality and the reasoning behind the KDF involvement, not only for self-defense, but also even supremacy. That cannot be undermined, when he plays the position of IGAD to interfere on his behalf.
It is weird and ironic, but IGAD will not directly solve this matter. That has to be done by both fractions, if they care about their own safety and also the sanctity of the National Assembly. Also, how the Parliamentarians are planning to be bought by the PM or President, even if they are following procedure and listening to the Speaker. You can wonder what and how this will end. But this will not end with an Extra-Ordinary Session of IGAD. If things ended with that, the IGAD wouldn’t need dozens of them on South Sudan. I’m just saying and it has to be said. They can meet in Addis Ababa and speak of peace, but they cannot reasoning with the parties, unless they invite them too.
If not they are just like the American drones bombing as they like and after their collected intelligence of where the militants are. The same can be done by the IGAD, but with documents and meetings, but that will not solve the underlining issues. That will be there. No matter if Duale and the partners of IGAD interfere on his behalf.
It is ironic, that IGAD should interfere here, as the AMISOM tried to back-peddle what they have done in regards to the matter. The Americans hasn’t answered on the possible mercenaries who participated in the stand-off. However, the world has seen this and take notice of it.
Nevertheless, the stand-off, the stakeholders and the ones that in the midst of this, should do themselves a favor and have some fresh air. Because this is all up to the President and Prime Minister, if they want to reconcile their differences with the Speaker. That is if they have any sense at all and not are corporate stooges to outside forces already. If they are not planning to misuse the army and security organization to continue to insight fear in the elected officials in Mogadishu. But as “if they” and not “supposed to” or even “plans to change”, because if things will change, it has to be the ones that push for the orders and sends the soldiers, who has to act and enlighten the world for the reasons behind the matter. Peace.
