Dear Sir, His Excellency (H.E.) President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli of the United Republic of Tanzania.
I am writing to you again, it strange how it comes to this. I wonder why it has turned to this. There was so much hope for you. You we’re a breath of fresh air, acted differently and seemed decent. Instead, the power has eaten your soul and you cannot handle critics or possible dossiers.
It seems like you have a little-man complex or power fatigue, as you expected to get showers of confetti and not get rainy days. I know it is weird, but life is usually what you serve it. If there are issues and corruption in the Mining Industry, it isn’t the tabloid paper Mawio, but it is the Mineral Extraction companies and civil servants who are corrupted. You should not have issues with the tabloid journalists in Mawio, they are just telling stories from Tanzania and from the different people that lives there. You should know this better than me, you are the Executive and running the Republic. Let’s take a brief look!
“The Information minister Dr Harrison Mwakyembe imposed the 24-month ban through a statement released to the media by the Director of Information services Dr Hassan Abbasi on Thursday evening” (…) “I have been left with no other option than to use powers conferred to me by the Information Services Act to impose a ban on Mawio from publication for the next 24 months,” read part of the letter from the minister to Mawio editor” (…) “Mawio was accused of ignoring a government directive on reporting of the former presidents. On Wednesday, President John Magufuli warned the media against linking Mkapa and Kikwete to the government minerals dispute with mining giant Acacia” (The Citizen, 2017).
I know you must feel hurt… feel the pain and the sorrow of maybe being involved in possible mineral dispute like your previous peers. I know that the precious heart of yours must be shattered. That this Mawio tabloid paper wrote such a hideous story exposing the current president, you Magufuli are compered with them. It seems like you have lost your heart…
That your heart was shattered, that the deep sorrow are coming over you. Magufuli you need love and passion, as you have so little compassion. As a president your expected to get support and praise, but this is opposite. What Mawio wrote was maybe distasteful of your wished reputation, but if your connected and letting the government do similar as your predecessors. Shouldn’t that be informed by the media?
Seemingly, you are the President and your precious feelings are getting hurt so often. That the press are writing stories and revealing the government matters, which they shouldn’t in your opinion. Well, many would be to differ, especially when try to dig deep, like even a weekly tabloid Mavio did on Wednesday.
Someone needs to give you love, make it compassionate and be a caregiver to you. Since you cannot handle criticism and critic of any kind. As President and as Executive, you should have the heart, have the understanding and handle the media, as they are there to be part of the checks and balances of your work, President!
Your government are weak and pathetic if it cannot handle that a tabloid write stories about it. President Magufuli, I know you need love, lots of it. You need it so much, that if someone now writes against you and your government you hurt them. The Ministry of Information are suspending them on your accord.
Your usually gets what your hearts seeks. Your emotions seems to run a bit hot lately, as over the last few months… you have been hard on the media and journalists for so, so long!
Can someone please… for the love of god and everything holy, give the President some love. So that he can act like fellow brother and not as heinous totalitarian leader, not as the leader people expected you to be!

Dear Mr. President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli!
I think you need some love, some special sort of love, but let me explain!
“Some politicians have been lying that nobody shall die of hunger, promising to provide relief food, these are liars….in my leadership, frankly speaking, I will not provide food to lazy people. Let me assure you that if don’t work, you will surely die of hunger” – John Pombe Magufuli (Daily News, Friday, March 3, 2017).
This is weird as you seemed like a likable character, a man with flair and with the wish of just behavior. Still, there are reports that not to good. It is okay that you work against corruption, blast ministers who doesn’t listen to your orders. That you order no export of specialized sand and the week after the government export of sand gets found on the port at Dar Es Salaam.
Well, there are other things that are worrying, that you have in recent months detained a fellow politician for calling you a dictator. You have recently detained a musician for his lyrics. Sent armed guards to a TV Station and fired the Minister of Information Nape Nnauye after the media aired questionable press about him.
“Magufuli made the remarks during the swearing in of new Information Minister Harrison Mwakyembe, who was appointed in a reshuffle. Critics said Mwakyembe’s predecessor Nape Nnauye was sacked as retribution for ordering a probe into an alleged raid on a private television station by a senior government official. “I would like to tell media owners – be careful, watch it. If you think you have that kind of freedom, (it is) not to that extent,” Magufuli said. He ordered Mwakyembe to clamp down on media organisations that publish or broadcast material deemed to incite unrest, saying his government would not allow a few individuals to destabilise east Africa’s second-biggest economy, which is home to 50 million people” (CPJ Africa – Committee to Protect Journalists, 24.03.2017).
So with all of this and his harsh words against anyone and anybody. Time for the you as the President, to take a chill pill and enjoy a mango lassi or even a chapati. Not stress, take it easy and open your ear-holes Mr. President!
John Pombe! You need some love, maybe even an escort or a side-dish? Since your anger towards the ones that speaks up against you and your regime, gets tiring, it destroys your image as the screaming bulldozer who stops containers with questionable content, who blames Indian contractors and whisks off foreign lazy workers in the United Republic of Tanzania. Instead we will remember you for detaining an opposition MP for his words, a rapper for his song and TV Station for their reporting.
President Magufuli, it isn’t easy being in the spotlight and expected being the Noble creature of East Africa. Surely, among strongmen and big-men you have to flex. Still, your ways of late are not of the men who will be remembered as democratic leaders.
Mr. President, when you don’t believe in free-press, free-speech or freedom of expression. That people, the media and others not allowed to express their view, than your creating a dictatorship under your bulldozer rule. Is that what you want? Is that why you direct orders are coming instead of consensus in Parliament?
So can somebody please give Mr. President some love, so he can show some love and be more gentle to him. Maybe that can make him into a gentleman, instead of a bulldozer that soon deconstruction dissenters and the ones who doesn’t directly obey the President. So please show him some love and take care of the little man. If you talk against him, you can lose your job at the Radio Station, TV Station or the Newspaper. If you are musician watch your language and be more soft-spoken. If your a opposition MP, beware that the President might take you to court. And to the citizens, praise your man and love him, he cannot bare people questioning his powers and intellect.
Mr. President needs love and only love. The sort of love the songs of Diamond Platnumz can bring, that sort of bongo flavor. With verses of sweet caring love and offering to spend all your monies on Mr. President, take him away from corrupt politicians and lazy workers. If the world can do so, maybe he will allow a free press and true liberty, until then, the bitter old Mr. President will have a hizzy-fit! Peace.
President John Pombe Magufuli, the Tanzanian President and Executive, the Chama-Cha Mapinudzi leader, the one who is running the succession of the ruling regime that has ruled since independence in the East African nation. He was hailed for his stern controlling and stopping of corrupt behaviour, as he cut wages and cleared state organizations. His smiles and grins on the inauguration was a proof of a peaceful democratic nation, even as MCC of USA had suspended aid-projects in Tanzania as they we’re not impressed by the last election on Zanzibar. So the year of 2016 has been a roller-coaster in Tanzania and it continues where it left of.
The Tanzanian President has with stern hand, detained journalists, and opposition figures and also used the police force to stop opposition rallies around nation. This has been done in silence as he has been hailed with #WhatWouldMagufuliDo? Since his works has extended and showed that their hope of good governance and possible accountability from the Tanzanian authorities. Instead, he now turns into a man who cannot manage that people questions his actions and planned legislature. Like he only want to be hailed and not become a villain. Though with his threats and wishes to silence the local media, he will only give the nation state propaganda fitted to his views and belief, instead of growing balls and actually see the misgivings that a government can have, as the media will display and reason with the citizens. Their trying to find and see at the imperfections of government and their regulatory state, can give the citizens a fair balanced experience of the leadership. That is apparently something that isn’t in high regard from President Magufuli. He wants lies, deceit and deception of the Tanzanian citizens.
As he said himself:
“Dr Magufuli warned the media against writing or airing inflammatory stories that may endanger peace at it happen in Rwanda where radio and other reports instigated the 1994 genocide. “The government, which specializing in ‘lancing boils’, cannot let such newspapers to continue operating. It cannot leave Tanzania to be a dumpsite of seditious news. This will not be allowed under my rule, never”, said Magufuli. “And its only two newspapers. Whenever you read them they always incite people… when you say this they turn it into something else. I want them to hear me. Their days are numbers” (Mwalimu & Ibengwe, 2017).
So clearly the President cannot handle the pressure and the temperature certain newspapers put out. Not that I now directly what they said, but saying that criticism of his reign will bring genocide is harsh and disrespectful for those who died in the genocide. Misunderstood and forged news are by all means a problematic field, as sources and credited writers has to pick their sources and verify the reports before publishing it. With the easy extent of information and the many outlets, there are more possibility to get information and therefore spread it to the public. A President cannot contain or control it the way they could do just a generation back in time. They are open online, on the telly, on air on the radio and also still in the papers.
By all means, with the extent of population of the United Republic of Tanzanian, there will detractors and people of opposite political base that reasons for tarnishing President Magufuli. They will do and should do it they feel like it, even if it is true or not. Still, the President can address them and undress them if their wrong in their assessment and understanding of the legislation or budgets post. But say that he will sanction and stop their press, proves that Magufuli is coward, a man who cannot handle the pressure of his throne, of his office and his station. He has to silence the media who looks critically into his acts and his motions. Like he expect fanfare and processions of glee journalists to bow their knees when they are entering the gates of the National Assembly or the State House, as the President is the most Nobel and grandest man in the Republic.
President Magufuli is the executive and the one who reins the United Republic, but that doesn’t mean everybody going to cheer and enjoy all of his decisions. Some going to scrutinize and question the reasons for the work he does as the Executive. There will be people who cheers and are proud who wouldn’t dare to question the President, but they would never say their honest opinion or control their words when addressing the ruler and the regime. So, the need for a strong and various outlet for news and discussion of what the President is important.
I thought Magufuli we’re stronger, smarter and had audacity to handle pressure, but I was so damn wrong. He cannot manage pressure or questions to his rule, he cannot manage newspapers and radio. Like he did during 2016 he arrested MP Singida Tindu Lissu for calling him a dictator.
The Opposition Member of Parliament Tindu Lissu saw something many others didn’t, Magufuli, the good doctor cannot handle opposite opinions and cannot accept that people are assessing his acts. They are supposed to eat it out of the hand of the President without questions and with a grin on their faces. Nothing else is acceptable. The President speak, the President act and the people bow their knees to the almighty. Peace.

“Prominent Lawyer from Dar and member of Parliament for Singida Tindu Lissu was arrested today for calling President Magufuli a Dictator or Dictator Uchwara” (Tanzania Human right Watch, 29.06.2016).
Is it Yay? Or Nay?
The audio of what got him arrested:
I never thought that President Magufuli would sink so low that he starting to act a fool, instead of being the cool President in Tanzania. Magufuli have been seen as a game-changer and also reformer in East African Community, but now he is acting like a royal king and baboon. If I was in Tanzania writing this and acting like a opposition, I might be behind bars. Recently another man got detained for writing ruthlessly on WhatsApp Group in Tanzania. So the reality of ‘Free Speech’ is dying in Tanzania. The central control and power toward Magufuli is certainly there now. With this second action, he proves his will to use power to silence critics! Peace.
