Opinion: Is Kooki “returning” to weaken Buganda?

“The Kingdom of Kooki, also known as the Kooki Kingdom, was a pre-colonial African kingdom located within present-day Rakai District of Uganda that existed from approximately 1740 until 1896. The kingdom ceased to exist as an independent state in 1896 when it merged into the British Protectorate of Buganda. Its royal line still continues to this day as a Subnational Chiefdom, and is currently led by Kamuswaga Apollo Sansa Kabumbuli II. In 27 July, 2015, the Kooki Kingdom declared independence from Buganda but it wasn’t recognized by Buganda” (Dbpedia/Wikipedia – ‘Kooki Kingdom’).

What is happening these days and the movements from Rakai district. It is obvious that National Resistance Movement (NRM) is involved in the rise of Kooki Kingdom. That is done to revive the old chiefdom and recognize it to dampen the power-base of the Kababa Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II. As well, as Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, which is to give less prominence to the whole Lukiiko.

That’s why the establishment and the possible recognition of Kooki would seem to happen. This is to damage and take away the cultural prominence of the Buganda kingdom. If this happens and as it seems to be moving towards that. This is done to humble and show Mengo who is the real boss. That’s the move of the President just to prove a point and that his the man in-charge.

We know that President Museveni has re-launched the cultural kingdoms of the Republic. Though he has never acknowledged or even tried to re-instate the Ankole Kingdom. That’s most likely for personal grievances. Though he did also re-instate Bunyoro and Rwenzururu, though the latter is in exile and haven’t been allowed to be in his own kingdom for years.

Online there is suddenly pictures on the roads with a welcoming sign of entering into “Kooki Kingdom”. A kingdom not yet recognized and breaking away from the Buganda kingdom. That is an act, which isn’t recognizing the old agreements between the chiefdom and the kingdom itself. Has the agreement been revoked or been dissolved?

Yes, in the 1896 agreement it’s a few vital stipulations, which could still be key to this day: “And I recognise that henceforth the sovereign of Kooki is Mwanga king of Uganda [Buganda] and after him, his heirs and successors. And I recognise further that all treaties, international agreements, laws and regulations of every kind, as well as tribute and other obligations of every kind at the time and the future in force or leviable in Uganda are henceforth similarly applicable stand leviable in Kooki which now becomes an integral part of the kingdom of Uganda [Buganda]. And I Mwanga, king of Uganda [Buganda], hereby pledge myself and my government and my heirs and successors to recognise Kamuswaga, hitherto independent king of Kooki, as a Muganda saza of the first class whose province shall be Kooki, which henceforth becomes part and province of the kingdom of Uganda [Buganda]” (The Spear News – ‘The 1896 Buganda Kooki agreement (Verbatim)’, 14.06.2017).

These words are detrimental and very clear. It is written at a different time and for a reasons of such, which was the reason for the agreement in the first place. The times we are living in now is totally different, but the current Kooki is by the agreement an “integral part” of the Buganda kingdom.

This is how the Kooki addressed the old agreements and in a letter in 2015: “In a July 27 letter to Charles Peter Mayiga, the Buganda katikkiro (prime minister), Kooki prime minister Hajji Idi Ahmed Kiwanuka publicly announced its independence from Buganda, complicating an already damaged relationship. Kiwanuka’s letter was also a protest note against Mayiga’s planned visit to Kooki County for a fundraiser for the beautification of the Kabaka’s lake in Ndeeba near Kampala. “Irrespective of individual and/or institutional perspective, Kooki by all laws governing the Republic of Uganda, is a lawful cultural institution with a hereditary leader, governance structures, with due protocol and indeed independence,” the letter partly reads. Historically, Kooki is one of the recognized counties of the wider Buganda kingdom. In the letter, however, the county leaders say the cultural institution will maintain a “deliberate co-existence” with sister cultural institutions. Copies of the letter were sent to State House, ministers of gender, labour and social development; internal affairs and defence” (Uganda News Releases – ‘Kooki Leadership Declares Independence From Buganda (allAfrica.com)’ 05.08.2015).

We have to await and see, but this is a game played from the State House to tussle with Mengo. That is a deliberate act, as we know the fear and the recent openness of love between the President and the Kabaka. There is a reason for it and it could been done in spite. Because, the President wants to end “Mailo Land” for instance. So, this could be done now in an act of revenge and prove to the Lukiiko and Katikkiro that they got nothing to say.

The President can just decree and order. That’s why you shouldn’t be shocked or surprised. This a game of divide and conquer. It is nothing new in the eyes of Museveni. That’s a game his been playing out his whole career. The latest could be this and Mengo should listen. If they act to much out. They might easily be further targeted and loose other “provinces” too. Because, Museveni might favour Bunyoro over Buganda now. Who knows?

But… Museveni is a man of this sort of play and the Kabaka is getting tested. Peace.

Ssegirinya MP is detained at SIU Kireka [and faces treason charges]

“Fred Enanga: “We want to inform the public that Hon Ssegirinya Mohammad has also been rearrested on fresh charges of treason and incitement to violence by the joint security task team of investigators” (…) He has been transferred to the Special Investigations Division, in Kireka for further statement recording and action” (Uganda Police Force, 27.09.2021).

The MP isn’t only facing the charges in the murders of Masaka. Now, the Uganda Police Force is saying his facing treason charges as well. The state is clearly using all means against him. The National Unity Platform (NUP) MP is a target and that is evident. As there is no proof or evidence for it.

The UPF Spokesperson shows that the authorities had it all planned. As he was released on-bail and the first second of “freedom”. They arrested him again and now they are detaining him at the SIU Kireka. This will prolong his agony and lack of freedom.

The state is still not producing any proof, evidence or affidavits in-concern to the MP. Ssegirinya MP will face long time and more trials. The state is really pushing him. They didn’t Court Martial him, but this is evident that the state is making new charges and “treason” is something that keep him behind bars for a long time. In a way, where he is seen as a danger to society and that’s why they keep him without producing anything.

This is tragic, but how they do. A Joint Security Task Team had a plan and this is how they execute it. Instead of finding or investigating real criminals. They are using the authorities as means to politically intervene and make Ssegirinya MP an example of their impunity. Peace.

Ssegirinya MP kidnapped by a “drone” [and kept at a unknown location]

“MP Mohammad Ssegirinya rearrested moments after being released from prison after being granted bail by court. Accused of murder, attempted murder and terrorism in relation to mysterious murders in Masaka. President Museveni on Sat said it is not right to release murder suspects” (Radio 4/103.3 FM, 27.09.2021).

Again and again, the authorities and security organization takes their freedom to obvious levels of impunity and injustice in the republic. This tends to happen to a chosen few and Members of Parliament who happens to big-deal opposition members. Therefore, Kawempe North MP Ssegirinya are now not only charged for murders in Masaka. He will be arraigned elsewhere as well.

That is why he was arrested by yet another security organization. If it is Chieftain of Military Intelligence (CMI) or Internal Security Organization (ISO). Heck, one of the army units could have done this today. Because, this are just preparing the MP to be arraigned before the Court Martial. As an excuse to keep him detained without any need to produce evidence or affidavits to prove his guilt or that he even committed crime in question.

The civilian courts cannot keep the “alleged” criminal forever without production of evidence or proof. The investigation has prove their crimes and not just keep them detained. This just proves how wrongly this is done.

The Police Force and the authorities are catching “criminals” but have no proof or evidence. Heck, their investigations are non-existent. Because, everyone knows these are just political ploys to hit one of their enemies. This is not the mastermind of the murders or behind the murders of Masaka. He was busy getting medical equipment in the Netherlands and upgrade the ambulances there. Therefore, the authorities and law enforcement is blind obedient bureaucrats with no functioning brains. Because, everyone knows what is going on and if their knobs are put together. They might able to pull a trick or two, but this isn’t it.

We have seen this game being played out before. The injustice and injustice is systematic. This was prepared and planned. As the state couldn’t keep him illegally detained in prison. They needed an excuse and the bail made it possible to re-arrest him. Therefore, this vicious means are how the state works.

This is putting the cart before the horse. They are making someone criminal before they have done the crime. By doing that… they are doing something illegal. Simply arresting and taking away someone’s freedom and liberty. Just because they have the authority and ability to do so. Still, that isn’t rule of law or justice. No, this is injustice and nothing else.

The Police and authorities aren’t catching the killers or assassins of Masaka. Instead they are keeping two MPs implicated for existing. This tragedy doesn’t seem to end. The tale for these two will last for months and there will plenty of trials. If not also lots of charges that the state cannot prove. Because it is taken out of thin-air and is as valuable as any of the President’s recent promises during the campaign. Peace.

Mr. Updates aka Ssegirinya MP still behind bars in Kigo Prison

“The absence of Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament Francis Zaake has caused his Kawempe North counterpart Muhammad Ssegirinya to stay in jail. This is because Zaake committed himself to stand surety for Ssegirinya who is facing murder and terrorism charges but today, he was not available to append his signature on the release form such that Ssegirinya can gain temporary freedom. Ssegirinya was jointly arrested together with Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana on September 7th 2021 and taken to Masaka Magistrates Court on charges of murder and terrorism arising from the recent killings of people using machetes in Masaka. They were remanded to Kigo Prison” (97.8 Kazo FM Omushomesa, 23.09.2021).

We should worry that Muhammad Ssegirinya MP has been behind bars for over two weeks. The MP has been behind bars for 16 days. The MP was also allowed bail or temporary freedom in the Courts on the 20^th September 2021. This means he could have produced and freed three days ago.

Who knows why his mate and MP Francis Zaake haven’t showed up today. We could worry that Ssegirinya would have suffered the same fate as Ssewanyana today. As he was picked up by a “drone” and taken to an unknown location.

For now we know where Mr. Updates resides. Yes, this is impunity and injustice at it’s highest order. The state is keeping him detained with no burden of proof of his guilt. There is no strong or credible evidence pinning the MP in the crimes charged against him. That’s why we know this is a political motivated case and not a “criminal” matter. He is just a victim of his allegiance and what he represents, which is differing from the ruling regime.

In some concern it is better to know that Ssegirinya is in Kigo Prison. That knowing he could be picked up by random authorities to unknown locations. He could be taken to ungazetted safe-houses and be tortured. Which is something the MP has suffered from before. Therefore, it is maybe even a sad relief that he is left behind today.

Both MPs will not get a fair trial and neither any serious case against them. This a political hackwork to keep them behind bars. They are falsely charged and the state will prolong the agony of the dissenting MPs. Peace.

Authorities go cuckoo for Chaka Chaka

It is the last day of 2019. Instead of falling asleep to the diversionary speech or New Years Message of the President. The Republic is under fire for its action towards the big South African Artist Chaka Chaka, whose was supposed to headline the ‘Enkuuka’ Concert at Mengo in honour of Kabaka Mutebi II of Baganda Kingdom. However, that was not to happen. As the Authorities wants to spread a message, that the ones showing Bobi Wine love. Will be meet with hostile actions when they arrive in Uganda.

Clearly, the Uganda Police Force and the Immigration Enforcement trying to deflect the reason for it. As we all can easily glean through the substance of the matter. This is not happening to the artists willingly showing up and taking snaps with the President. However, it happens with someone who has mentioned Bobi Wine in favourable fashion. That is why she got into trouble. Everything else is yet another propaganda assault from the authorities.

“This is to inform the public that a security task team in close coordination with immigration officials has this afternoon escorted Ms Mhinga Yvonne, popularly known as Chaka Chaka to Entebbe International Airport, where she boarded her next immediate flight to South Africa, via Kigali” (…) “She was advised together with her promoters to apply for a working visa and avoid the pretence of being an ordinary visitor. The ordinary visa cannot enable her to perform in any income-generating activity within the country” – CP Fred Enanga (31.12.2019).

“Revelers gather in Mengo to usher in 2020. Yvonne Chaka Chaka was meant to be headlining the annual ‘Enkuuka’ concert but unfortunately she was deported earlier due to lack of a working permit, police said” (NBS Television, 31.12.2019).

After all of this, the singer claims everything is well with her in taped video leaked online without saying her location. What we do know is that this has taken away the headliner of a New Years Concert. Most likely because of the fear of her showing Bobi Wine more love. Since that is embarrassing for the authorities. However, with the blocking of her to even be on the stage. They have embarrassed themselves, because the President is naked.

The advisors, the handlers of the President is all going cuckoo over this. They are eating their own insane idea. It is the worst sort of idea for a meal, worse then whatever make-believe meat plate some vegans are eating. This is so disgusting, that they cannot really justify it, but they have to eat it still. If they think it is brilliant. Than, if they have had some wisdom, they would revoke this order and fix it. Even damage the hurt.

Instead, they want to tell the whole continent of Africa. The whole world, how afraid Museveni is of the influence of Bobi Wine. That they are willing to be so stupid…. So stupid, that most toddlers would sound like Einstein in these matters.

If the Ugandan authorities wanted to look Pan-African and non-sectarianism, than they wouldn’t have done this. Alas, they want only praise of their master and everyone else supposed to do so. That’s why Chacka Chaka got deported and ordered so.

Opinion: The Liberation Day can only be celebrated with Mzee and with no one else!

The NRM Day, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) day, the Liberation Day. The day that the National Resistance Army liberated Uganda. Are in the making and being prepared so that the President can hold his speech and be crowded by his soldiers, his Crime Preventers and who ever he has bought out from obscurity in the recent months.

So the news today, was rare or unique. It is more of the same. That other people are not allowed. It is just like when he hold the State of Nation Address, all channels and broadcast on TV and Radio had to send his speech. The same can surely also happen in this instance. Because the only man who is clearly free and can be opinionated is Museveni. The rest have to follow his suit and his orders. The State House commands. So that the President and his men, are now putting orders on how they are celebrating the 32^nd Liberation Day isn’t surprising. It follows a pattern of control from above, from His Excellency, who cannot be that excellent, when he has to micro-manage every detail and get everyone in-line for every event. Every function and every order, has to be rubber-stamped by him. It’s just his despotic mind, who speaks democracy, but orders everyone around and wants everybody to accept his hollow mind. That is just the way it is, so when Daily Monitor says this today:

“The government has cautioned the opposition and any other groups against any plot to hold parallel liberation day celebrations. The caution was sounded by the minister for presidency Esther Mbayo during a press conference at media centre ahead of the celebrations slated for Friday January 26, 2018. She said every time government organizes a national function, there are groups that threaten to organized parallel arrangements. She said this will not be tolerated this time round. “I am just warning whoever is organizing to stage a parallel function to desist from it because the long arm of the law will catchup with him,” minister Mbayo said. She said there will be only one national function accepted that day and it will be held at Boma grounds in Arua Municipality. “So whoever wants to stage parallel arrangements should stand warned,” Mbayo said” (Jumbe, 2018).

This is the memo, the gist and the story. That the Minister Mbayo is warning and coming with stern signals of how to behave. The public can only have one key celebration, nothing in Kololo or on another field. The only one matter at Boma Ground in Arua. The rest has to cease, where the President is, is the only place to be liberated, the others have to follow orders and be under the spell of the President. No freedom, no celebration in Kampala, Jinja or Mbarara, no no, only celebrate in Arua at Boma Ground.

The Liberation Day celebration only matters at the function of the President. If he isn’t there, it doesn’t matter. It is not about liberation, if the supposed liberator isn’t there. The kingpin of the NRA has to be at the function if it supposed to have any value. President Museveni have to show up and be graceful, spill his beans and everyone got to listen to his wisdom. If not, they are not liberated. The liberation was for him and his men, not for the republic. The people was just tools for his liberation. Therefore, a party is only a party, if he started or joined the party. Peace.

Tired of President Museveni’s “1986”!

I know I am born in 1985, but I am tired of the year of 1986 and the year National Resistance Army (NRA). The now National Resistance Movement (NRM) and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The liberation movement that has run the republic since 1986. This war lasted from 1981 to 1986, the NRA went out of the Milton Obote II government after the illegitimate election of 1980s. Which from then on has been used as the scapegoat and the ones to put to blame for ever since.

The 1986 is the magical year that Museveni entered into supremacy. The Supreme kingpin and mastermind of all it. Sowing the mustard seed and creating a newer safer Republic. The one time the peasants was supposed to have their say in government and make the republic a democracy. The Republic of Uganda was going from strong-men and big-men to run the Republic. Instead, it has been now three decades with manufactured democracy in-line with the vision of Museveni.

President Museveni have used all techniques to fix election results, paying villagers and making new government forms to fit his paradigm. Instead of releasing his promises he has built elite around him that is loyal to his brown envelopes or public fearing his security organizations. This is a special coming from the man promises all the possible governance and government structures needed, if he got into power. Instead, he has done the opposite.

It was supposed to get into a middle-Income Country instead of the Less Developed Country, which is the state is in now. The LDC that Uganda now is because of the state of government that President Museveni has created around him. That can be seen with amounts of debt, the massive overspending on the State House and the pledges around the President. Government of Uganda, GoU have been built around Museveni, instead of institutions and procedures. Therefore, the state are following the orders of the President and his Presidential Handshakes.

That is why, every-time in a speech at any sort of occasion the President will mention 1986 and how the state used to be. As of today 1 out of 5 in the Republic or 21% are between 15 to 24 year old. And by 2016 there we’re only 2% who are older than 65 years old. Which means that the President are part of a minority age bracket. President Museveni 30 years old rule are older than many of the youths in the Republic. They should also wonder what is so special about the years they never we’re living and about governments they never lived under. There are big proportions of the population who cannot remember or has been apart of the first years of the NRA or the civil-war during the 1980s.

They would be like me, they would feel the same fatigue of the NRA and Museveni rule, the extension of the liberation from Obote and Amin. The ones that Museveni mention whenever he needs someone or somebody to blame. Certainly mention 1986. The 1986 that are the most important year since independence, therefore, the NRM Day, the 26^th January 1986, liberation day. Instead of the Independence Day 9^th October 1962. That one is not so often mentioned by the President, since he didn’t get them out of the British Empire and not be a British Protectorate anymore.

Still, the 9^th October 1962 doesn’t seem to be important for Museveni, the 26^th January 1986 is the most vital one. The one that sets the standard, the day that changed everything and gave him total access. Therefore, the celebration of 1986 is so key and be levied at any occasion, and at any speech. President Museveni praises his overthrow of Amin, Obote, Okello and Biniasa.

They all just had to be overthrown, he had to make coup d’etat and make folklore out of it. So his name can ring out and be praised. Let it be clear, the President sings 1986… 1986… 1986… like a jingle never stopping. Peace.
