Ethiopia: PM Abiy wants a Palace fitted for a King

“The Office of the Prime Minister is under preparations to construct a new national palace to the tune of 49 billion birr, becoming the second biggest public project next to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which has consumed over 130 billion birr thus far. Situated on a sprawling 503 hectares of land at Yeka Hill, in Yeka Sub-city, the construction touches five woredas, which will harbor the construction of halls, lakes, housing units and road infrastructures, among other facilities. Part of the government’s 10 year perspective plan, the project will see the evacuation of thousands of people. However, the residents will be given a chance to develop their own property on their land, if it fits the standard of the area, where the palace will be built. Sources told The Reporter the UAE government will contribute a portion of the budget needed to construct the palace” (The Ethiopian Reporter – ‘Government inches to build palace for over 49 billion birr’ 21.05.2022).

It seems to be official that the ruler of Addis Ababa and beyond, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali is planning to change his estate and his residence. As there are now plans to spend about a $1 billion United States Dollar on building a new Palace. That will be instead of residing in the Menelik Palace and the Grand Jubilee, which will become a museums.

The OPM and the ruling regime is prioritizing building a lavish Palace for their ruler. Instead of spending money on food security, agriculture or anything that can help the citizens. Because, the state has created a famine in Northern parts of the Republic. While it is having severe droughts in the Ogaden and surrounding areas. It is also possible hurt and suffering in the Afar region and parts of the Amhara region after warfare last year. Also, we have no estimation or idea of the damage, the pain or suffering in the Oromia region as well. Therefore, the state isn’t creating sustainable mechanisms or programs. Instead they are choosing to build a magnificent building for the Prime Minister to reside in.

The state who just received $300 million USD to “rebuild” and “retool” parts of the war-torn regions of the Republic. As the Republic is having a rising inflation hitting around the 40% rise. While also lacking foreign exchange. Meanwhile the Federal Government has also invested and imported more weaponry, tanks and other equipment to further their internal conflicts. Therefore, there is no shadow of doubt. That things will only get worse… before they get better.

As the famines, droughts and steady arrival of conflicts. The use of war to silence to silence dissent and opposition. While spending fortunes on prestige projects like the Palace of the PM. That just shows what sort of mismatched priorities the PM has and he has no ideal of how it is wrecking the economy.

In the last budget the state used 12 billion birrs on food security, 17 billion birrs on job creation, 33 billion birrs on health care and 16 billion birrs on education. So, you can easily see how the Federal Government is prioritizing the Palace over all the other necessities. Yes, some funds will come from the UAE Government, but that’s still a waste of government spending. This is not for developing the Republic or helping the citizens in need. No, this is just to boost the ego of man and his lofty ambitions.

Abiy wants so badly to be seen as a King and be a monarch. Now, his building a grand palace in his name and during his tenure. That just shows his intentions and he has no scruples either. As his government is waging war, been blocking humanitarian aid and been vicious against any critics within his realm.

Now… his starting to build a Palace and soon his trying to figure out who can make him a crown. Peace.

Ethiopia: Prosperity Party plans to either assimilate or punish former cadres of the TPLF

Re: Concerning sending new PP members and ex-TPLF members — As stated in the title, we want to notify you to provide all necessary assistance to the members of our Prosperity Party and their assistants that we are sending to establish the foundations for our party. The second agenda concerns recruiting all ex-TPLF members to be PP members and to do all necessary surveillance lest they have any kind of communication with TPLF. In case there are any cadres that look suspicious to our party, all necessary measures must be taken against them as stated in the letter dated Nov 14, 2013. This is news is coming as the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) have cancelled the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). The NEBE have rescinded the political party license of the TPLF. Meaning the TPLF isn’t a party in their registrars anymore.

However, just as the Law Enforcement Operation in the Tigray region continues. The Prosperity Party have an Interim Government appointed by Addis Ababa. The PP plans to further their powers in the region. Not only crush the armed paramilitary group affiliated with the TPLF. They are also planning to takeover the masses of members too.

The Prosperity Party is planning to take the members, the cadres and the ones who are participating in the party. In the party that it has deemed as “terrorist”. This means the PP seem to be into the idea of boosting its membership by taking away the members of TPLF. That is clearly in ambition to ensure the PP have grounds and popularity in Mekelle.

The PP needs the public on its side. Even if they have been doing warfare since 3^rd November 2020 in the region. They still need support and friendly faces. That is now a mission to convert TPLF cadres to the PP: From the same government that has killed former Ministers and civilians for 3 months in the area.

The PP has a hard cause. The ones who does switch allegiance now is betraying the Tigray and their cause. That is just what happens. They are either traitors at home or heroes in Addis. In a conflict like this. The ones switching will be marked and be moles. This is why the initial drive to do is will only cause more damage to the TPLF. Which in the end is a victory for PP:

However, the PP seems to be ideologically bankrupt, if they are willing to convert and let TPLF cadres become members. This means the ones who is the sole reason for this Operation Law Enforce is apparently good enough to get assimiliated into the party. Which means they couldn’t be as evil or dangerous as they said. Even though the PP will by this order use all neccessary means. What does that mean? Does that mean arrest, detention or execution? So does that mean, that if they are vetted and suddenly not following the orders. Then they are fair game and practically get hurt. Hurt in manner, which isn’t stated directly in the letter.  

That shows the sinister side of the PP. They have already come out last year with a selective recruitment process. This is a continuation of that, but on in the Tigray region. Where they are accepting the TPLF cadres are either “welcome” or possibly “Dead Men Walking”. Seems like a horrific method of adding new members to a political party. Especially, if this party is supposed to reform and come in peace. Peace.

Ethiopia: Will the World Bank accept the blocking of the funding of the Safety Net Program in Tigray?

The World Bank together with development partners has supported a Safety Net Development projects since the financial year of 2018 and it’s supposed to end by 31^st December 2020. It is called by them Productive Safety Net Program (PSNP). This is supposed to support farmers and secure food security across the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE).

Clearly, the fallout between the Tigray and Addis Ababa. The result of the political stalemate between Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) and the Prosperity Party (PP) has yet another financial implication. The PP have already blocked Federal Support of the Regional Government of Tigray. Also, collaboration between the House of Federation (HoF) and Regional Government of Tigray has ceased.

Today, the news that the Federal Government are now blocking the funds and support through the World Bank Program of PSNP. A program made for farmers, secure livelihood and give the farmers social accountability. Latest support from the World Bank was in September 2020. The Federal Government got $66m USD allocated to PSNP. The funds now blocked has to be from this.

This means the state is deliberately blocking one region from accessing funds given to the whole Republic. It wasn’t given to just Amhara or Oromia. No, it was given to the government representing the whole Republic. That means, the altering of the funding, which was intended to them all.

The funders of the PSNP should react to this. Especially, if they care for the livelihood of the farmers in Tigray. If the state had blocked farmers in Ogaden or in Oromia. There would be the same reason to cry havoc. This is wrong on all basis and only done because the PP is punishing the Tigray for not following the “orders” from Addis.

The Federal Government is punishing the farmers of Tigray. That is the reality of this. The foreign donors are blocked from giving needed aid to Tigray. Just because the PP and Federal Government isn’t friendly with Mekelle at the moment.

This is tragic that foreign aid can be used like this and be suspended, because of the Napoleon Complex of the Prime Minister. Peace.

Ethiopia: PM Abiy removes his Oromo backers

The rise of Prime Minister Abiy Ali Ahmed are continuing his consolidation of power, which he started with the creation of Prosperity Party (PP) out of the Party Coalition Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Defence Force (EPRDF). Now, his continuing it with taking out the people who supported him and backed him while he rose to power.

Now he gone after his side-kick and backer from the Oromo People’s Democratic Organization (OPDO) to Oromo Democratic Party (ODP) and all the way to PP. He has already politically arrested all main opposition in Oromia. They are all charged and in prison. While others who defy the PP and the Central Government will be forced to silence or detained. Just like the recent arrests of leaders from Wolayata Zone.

Today, there are reports that these are dismissed and removed from the PP:

– Lemma Megersa, Minister of Defence

– Tayiba Hassen, Deputy president of the Oromia regional state,

– Dr Milkesa Mideksa, Representative of Oromia regional state

This is all a clear sign of that there are only one man to listen too and the others has to keep their traps shut. Because, the man on the top, the Prime Minister will demote or get rid of the ones who are in his way. There is no other way to see it now. His making political prisoners out of the opposition, making fake-coups towards the ones who doesn’t support him and appoint leaders who are his allies. He get rid of the ones who are facing him and wants glory for all his work.

The Prime Minister is playing a dangerous game here. The consolidation of power can only take you so far. At one point, paranoia and despair will be on his mind. The PM will cause conflict and warn people. He will talk of danger, but when he is the one who orders the guns.

Now, he went for the ones who was behind his rise to become PM. The ones who was close and supported him. When he can do this to them. What can he do to a real opposition? People who are fighting for liberty, freedom and justice? They will suffer, these people lost their titles and been removed. However, this only shows what sort of fella the PM is.

We can wonder what he does next, but he does not run on reforms anymore. The PM runs on control and by any means. He doesn’t care of the costs, as long as his supreme. Peace.

Ethiopia: The Prosperity Party plans a selective recruitment process…

The Prosperity Party have launched their strategies ahead. It is an insightful prospect in the months ahead. As the ruling regime have a three month scope ahead, which was released the Finfinne Intercept.

The PP are intending to invite the ministers, state ministers, commissioners and directors. Who are yet to become members of the party. They are also planning recruitment of scholars and those who are primly qualified for senior management. The party plans to have people from all zones, districts (woreda) and wards (kebele).

They are not planning to get the visionaries, but only the people who will follow the future and realize the national prosperity. Where the party is avoiding getting the resilient ones who want to change the world order. That follows the party program and constitution, but not the ones whose willing to chance to change it.

The PP continues that they don’t want to recruit people from the primly ideologically biased from the 60 generations of the oppressed. Where there will be an independent training of the recruits and paper, which will be developed by the Office of Prosperity.

This shows that the PP plans to have the ones that are only working for their cause and not the voices of dissident. The PP doesn’t want the ones whose oppressed. The party doesn’t want the writers and scholars who stand for the oppressed.

The PP is afraid of the educated and the scholars, who becomes members and would expose their misdeeds. For the oppressed and the ones who will tell. The PP just want members who are blind followers and who follows protocol.

This is all clearly another method of the party to ensure they have no dissent. Another step showing the rebranding of PP and the whole government of Prime Minister Ahmed Ali Abiy.

We can take that as a sign of the leadership, as the PP has a significant plan for their recruitment. If this is how its going forward. It is a clear warning of how they will behave and as a one-party state. It is evident that dissidents will suffer and the party will shield the oppression.

That is the sort of behaviour, which is clearly a thing now. I’m just awaiting the time for the PP to denounce this report and say its isn’t what they meant. Because, this is really showing their true character and it’s not looking good. Peace.
