Opinion: Abiy’s recent move is a mandate to burn two regions to the ground

If you thought the Operation Law Enforcement in Tigray and the crackdown in Oromia could be worse. Expect the Federal Government to come with swift force and use more means. There will no reflection and the tyrant is dancing on people’s graves.

The Council of Ministers and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali statement today of classifying Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) and Shene (a made-up unit of Oromo Liberation Front/Army (OLF/A). Will be used to deplete, annihilate and deplete the Tigray and Oromia. These regions are already suffering, but now the state have mechanisms to go after anyone “supporting”, “aiding” and whatnot.

Prime Minister Abiy is showing no remorse or plans to have any credible dialogue with anyone. He is just planning to kill, destroy and make people suffer. There is no supposed peaceful minute or hope in the air. This man is supposed to have people able to make it rain. The man who cannot even silence a weapon or talk to his “enemies”. That sort of man wouldn’t be able to trick the inflation or lacking domestic revenue.

This is the nail in the coffin for any peaceful resolution. The TPLF and their Tigray Defence Force (TDF) is already able to prolong a war that was supposed to end in late November 2020. The TDF is able to fight back against a Tripartite Alliance of the Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF), Eritrean Defence Forces (EDF) and Amhara Para-Military Forces (Fano). These are going after TPLF/TDF. Still, they are not able to conquer them. Not even when the region faces starvation, looting, massacres and constant warfare.

The state will also continue its purge on the Oromia. Where the state has already arrested thousands of people. Where the state are using means of “Command Post” and killing civilians on the regular. The state have been relentless to the region. The use of making “Shene” as a terrorist organisation is clearly targetting the queerro and everyone else. They are just making things up and calling the dead “terrorists” after. Just like the Americans have done after drone strikes all-across Somalia in the recent years. It is the same strategy and everyone they will hunt, detain, torture or kill will be a part of Shene and be a reasonable target by the state.

This is the tyranny of the Prosperity Party and Prime Minister Abiy. The man has no heart. He only see himself as the king. Abiy will be a ‘Mad King’ . A tyrant and a liar. A man who was willing to bury the children of the Republic so he could be crowned king. This man wants to speak of elections and credible ones too. While his going to war in huge regions. Creating conflicts and not silencing the guns. These sorts of moves only entrenches the state and gives it means to an end.

Dan Jones writing about another Mad King: “John also earned a reputation as vindictive and even murderous. It was believed that in 1203 he killed his nephew and rival, Arthur of Brittany. One chronicler heard that John had done the deed himself, “after dinner, when he was drunk and possessed by the devil,” and thrown the body into the Seine. In 1208 John fell out with a close associate named William de Braose and pursued his family to destruction, starving to death William’s wife and eldest son in the dungeons of his castle. (William died in exile in France.) John mistreated hostages given to him as security for agreements: The knight William Marshal said he “kept his prisoners in such a horrible manner and in such abject confinement that it seemed an indignity and a disgrace to all those with him.”” (Dan Jones – ‘The Mad King and Magna Carta’ July 2015, Smithsonian Magazine).

This here will not make Ethiopia better, but worse. This is total destruction. It is ensuring the state has the reason to implicate people as “terrorists” without proof or cause. This is using the powers of the state to burn these regions. If you thought the “state of emergencies” of the EPRDF was bad. This will be much worse. The state of affairs is already horrific and the levels of atrocities is just growing. The massacres of Tigray and other regions is just showing the rivers of blood on the watch of this Prime Minister. His willing to let people die without any proper trial or justification. People are dying because he ordered it and his sleeping without any remorse.

Prime Minister Abiy shows his true character here. The Council of Ministers are just giving him and the state a go ahead to bury anyone who opposes it. Dissidents and activists against the Prosperity Party will not breathe. The ones who stands up to the regime in Finfinne will not get any mercy. There is only death and bloodshed ahead. It has already been so pain and suffering during this term, but he will not enforce things who are worse. That¨s because he has legality to do so. The injustice and impunity, the state can serve that to these regions and the bodies can be claimed to be “terrorists” after the fact.

Abiy has his wish and gotten a “go ahead” for extra judicial killings. Which is already happening at a worrying scale. Now he just have a label and can call them “terrorists”. That is the tragic timeline we are living in.

That people believed this man would create peace was foolish. The ones believing this man would create better dialogue and talks between parties. They were clearly wrong. Abiy will not only kill, destroy and annihilate anyone in his way. This will now happen at a large scale and anyone who they distrust. Will be in legal jeopardy and even silenced indefinitely.

Don’t be shocked if the times of “Command Post” and “State of Emergency” looks like child’s play. Because, this Prime Minister doesn’t value liberty, freedom or justice. No, this Prime Minister only wants to be remembered as a ‘Mad King’. That is who is his and the bloodbath he ordered on his watch. Peace.

Ethiopia: Office of the Prime Minister – Categorizing “Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF)” and “Shene” as Terrorist Organisations (01.05.2021)

Opinion: The up-coming election will not give the legitimacy Abiy seeks …

In Ethiopia, aside from power through elections, there will not be a government created on the basis of negotiations or transitions. Leadership can only be attained through elections” – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali (29.04.2021).

If this was in 2018 and early after he was selected as the new Prince of the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) and appointed as the Head of State. He would have much more given for him and his reign. The Prime Minister was walking on water in the beginning and had all hope ahead of him.

Still, the greed for power and control is endless with this man. Now he seeks to be anointed king and not be little prince. He wants to run and stop walking. Nevertheless, the man has squashed all possible options for a peaceful transition and a credible election.

Abiy wants be inaugurated and be sworn-in. Be in the bash of glory and create tales of grandeur. The Prime Minister wants so badly to elected and be respected. He wants to be seen as the future of leadership and be the de-facto His Excellency. However, he will be selected for this and with the current state of affairs. He will not be properly elected, but selected. As he has made this a selective election and created an atmosphere not only of mistrust, but of top-notch oppression of dissidents.

The Abiy regime is cracking down on anyone who oppose him. They are creating extremists and creating a dangerous sphere. Where if your not part of the click or the ruling elite. You can die in a ditch or be detained forever. As you could be a opponent or activist who is offending the don. The Prime Minister only wants blind loyalty and nobody is supposed to question his reign.

Abiy is either charging, arresting, detaining, burying or getting rid of the ones who are standing in his path. There is no middle ground and a place of moderation. No, there is dialogue or trying to forge a proper relations with the opposition. The opposition are either in jail, in exile or dead. The ones who Abiy fears and knows could hurt his status are challenged by the state or revoked their rights. That is what he does and this is why this whole elections is a sham.

Abiy can talk big about election and democracy. However, when the biggest challengers are behind bars. When their parties and associates are in bracelets. We know the drill and know there is proper election going on. As long as his allies are thriving and he will rule supreme.

I cannot believe this man has the audacity to speak of democracy and leadership received through elections. When he knows perfectly well that he will not have any serious challengers, but pawns on the chess-set. Abiy will only face his own shadow and NEBE is creating a winner circle for his associates as well. There is no reason to not believe Prosperity Party will have a majority and be the big-men in the next term. To think otherwise is naive. Since nobody else have the state apparatus or the possibility to conquer him.

Abiy will win on a walk-over. Heck, he could skate through it all and only do an ollie. That is all he will have to do. Not like he needs to do any serious tricks or show-off. No, he can just breathe on the mic and someone will make a love song out of it.

Prime Minister Abiy will not be legitimized by this. Only consolidate power more and make it seem more real. Since he was just appointed and now his (s)elected again. His not properly elected or even trying to conceal the efforts to win before the game starts. He and his men has already ambushed and destroyed all options for a possible free and fair elections. That’s before the ballots and before the campaigns. He doesn’t even have to try.

He can now run without even trying. There is no reason to do anything really. He will be forced upon the public again and get “validated”. However, not because his loved or respected. No, because every other door is shut and silenced. There is no other choice. That is why this election is insincere and a lie. His just acting like its real, but its fake as it gets.

Abiy is sort of losing at his own game. Because the thing he wants the most he cannot get. This is all his own fault and his own pride. The reason for total control and therefore losing the vital things. The lack of space, liberty, freedom and justice for his fellow peers. That is why we know the game is over and his just another prick with a small dick running a nation. Since he doesn’t have the balls to stand in a credible battle against his opposition. He doesn’t have the stamina or the heart to do so. It is not in him, because he knows he cannot win that game either.

That is why his rigging it and ensuring a smooth ride for himself. While speaking big and hoping the international community is naive. Not seeing it or even hearing about it. So, they can celebrate his “victory” who was just a protocol and a procedure for him to get a valid mandate. Peace.

Opinion: How many have to die for Abiy to be crowned king?

It is now three years since Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali became the Prime Minister of Ethiopia. There was so much promise and he seemed like a legit new leader for the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. However, it was all just a lie and a front.

Abiy was the false messiah, the false prophet and the wolf in sheep’s clothing. He came talking peace and wanting to negotiate it. Nevertheless, him and his allies wanted to consolidate all power and strike down anyone who was in their way. That is evident now and that is the reality of his reign.

The Prime Minister who is running for his election. An election which is a farce even before the ballots is printed. There is no sign of peace and a hegemony of hope. That is buried and the bloodshed is evident. So much pain and suffering. So many people have lost their loved ones and the regime is cracking down on anyone thinking ill of the Prosperity Party. There is no peace and there is no mercy.

The Prime Minister is flexing and want to show strength. Though it is all fake and a fraud. His living on a lie and bashes in it. The propaganda and the deceptions will catch up on him eventually. The graves, the masses who is lost and the humanitarian crisis he has committed in the Republic. It will all haunt his reign and it will for generations to come.

There are so many kids who has their parents behind bars for political reasons. There are so many people who have fled the battlefields of Tigray. There are so many schools who become make-shift prisons in Oromia. There is nowhere to see or hear of prospects of hope. Unless, there is pictures of planting trees and industrial complex being built in Amhara.

The Prime Minister is seeing death in Afar, Ogaden, Oromia and Tigray. He is overseeing a murderous click of the Tripartite Alliance and promising free and fair elections. These elections will be worse rigged than under Meles Zenawi. He will be more brutal and be more insincere. The game is rigged and the Prosperity Party is running like there is no tomorrow.

The publicity stunts and the promises are worthless. As long as the gun-smoke is killing the parents, the nephews and the grandparents of the coming generation. When the incoming generation of leaders are behind bars or banned from acting. When parties are deregistered an-mass and the procedures are made all in favour of one party. There will be nothing free or fair… when the competition is lingering in jail. Who is he kidding?

Abiy is a warlord together with allies in Eritrea and Amhara. He is the bloodthirsty king awaiting to be crowned king. The dream he always had. However, it will not be glorious, it will not be pure or refreshing. It will just be another bloody day and a salute from his closest associates. The ones who knows they are dead if they betray his trust.

The 6th Election will be announced and happen but not on the premises which Abiy speaks off. He says the right words, but the acts of the state is devious. He can lie and cheat as much as he wants, but this election is his bastard child. It is the one he got outside wedlock. You cannot promise free and fair elections, when your political enemies are all behind bars. That is not how it works and why you try to eliminate and annihilate anyone who crosses your path.

That is when you become a king of terror and not a peacemaker. The time of peace is over and the time of conflict is here. Abiy will not generate, because he will always find a new enemy and someone’s ambition who he fears. There will be new names, parties and possible prospects who will taste the sword.

The false messiah is here and his twisted tongue tricked plenty of folks, but his lies will be seen for everyone at one point. Right now the citizens and the dissidents are tasting the blunt force of his reign. The unforgiving measures of a man willing to kill anyone to reign supreme. A man willing to destroy and deplete anyone who blinks twice. He will go after them and they will not see tomorrow.

Still he promise peace and abundant wealth for the ones who follows him. While hoping nobody see the ashes and the destruction that gave him the crown. He hopes nobody will look after or ask questions about his brilliant moves to put everyone else in shackles. They are just pawns who got tricked and thought messiah had arrive.

He came, he saw and he conquered. However, the false prophet will continue to lie and deceive. Long live the king and the blood shall run like rivers in his reign. Peace.

Ethiopia: 80% of the Tigrayan population without food – Bureau of Agriculture letter from March says so

The Law Enforcement Operation as destructible it is. The results from the conflict is now coming out. It is trickling out little by little, as the state and the Tripartite Alliance is holding the information close to their chest.

The newest revelation is a letter sent by the Interim Tigray Regional Government and the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Development who wrote this letter to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Resources. The letter states that the Interim Tigray Regional Government wanted a Emergency Plan and Request of funds.

It is bad when 80% of the region is going without food. When the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Development that the majority farmers doesn’t have food, seed, oxen and farm tools. Because of the warfare and the open conflicts in the region. The farmers has lost their livelihood, the loss of crops, livestock that was either destroyed or looted. This is why this is a self-inflicted crisis by the Tripartite Alliance in Tigray.

The people are suffering and lacking the ability to be self sustainable as the raving conflict is persisting. The state has made the whole region suffer, because it decided to go to war in November 2020. They are not only letting the former Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) comrades behind bars or killed. No, the Tripartite Alliance is making everyone suffer with the complete destruction of the agricultural sector.

This has been done very quickly by the Tripartite Alliance and their warfare in the region. This is the Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF), Eritrean Defence Force (EDF) and Amhara Para-Military Force – Fano. These are the main culprits in Tigray region.

However, this is just one piece of devastation and destruction in Tigray since November. This is not amount of internally displaced people (IDPs) and refugees in Djibouti or Sudan. These are also causing prolonged harm and longer time get back to normal in the Tigray region.

The amount of massacres that has been happening on the regular. The unverified numbers of deceased and killed. The use of rape as a tool of oppression as well. All of the horrific acts done to put the people into submission. The destruction of schools, hospitals and other vital institutions, as well as looting and ravaging factories too. All of this will linger in memory and take decades to fix. The scars, the lives and stories that will be told. As the Tripartite Alliance have to take blame and pay the price of fixing it.

Nevertheless, that is the long time objective that is needed. Now the agricultural sector is broken because of the conflict and as it has been targeted. In Tigray region the Interim Government isn’t the believed rulers or representatives. They are the imposed on the general public and not their elected officials, which was deposed in November 2020.

All of the months have gone since the conflict started and now the effects of the warfare is becoming evident. Even the Interim Government states it too and asks for assistance from the Federal Government. Peace.

Opinion: Special Envoy Feltman is not the right man for the Horn of Africa

A career diplomat and a man who is controversial. Is not the sort of figure you send to fix or amend issues. An outspoken and ideological man like Jeffrey Feltman will only configure the conflicts and the situations at hand for the benefits of American interests. That is what he has done in his position most of his life.

Except for his stint under Ban Ki-Moon in United Nations and prolonged under Antonio Guterres. He has been a career diplomat across the Northern Africa and Middle East. His role in Lebanon and elsewhere is where his most noteworthy from.

Feltman is a person that take sides. When he actively takes sides in divided landscapes as a senior career diplomat. What will he do as Horn of Africa Envoy? I doubt he will wind beneficial middle-ground or emphasis on the common grounds between the parties. He is afraid of the Iranian and possible Turkish involvement in the region. As he also seeks to promote and secure the American interests first.

That means we know that this Special Envoy will be partial and be affected by his allegiance. He will not come with a clean slate or be working accordingly to the problems at hand. This man will not solve the issues or come with clear mediation. No, this man will further U.S. interests. These words are taken from Karim Makdisi who teaches at the American University in Beirut. Who assessed Feltman’s role in the area as an ambassador.

When you are known for things like this and going into the Horn of Africa at his very moment. The person should be less questionable. Joe Biden appointed him since his been a person trusted in the Obama Administration and has a diplomatic record spanning over years. This is a token recognition of that. However, his still a man peculiar fella who suddenly going into a mine-field.

A person who believes in “non-interfering” but interfering to avoid “enemies” interfering. Therefore, that split-personality trait doesn’t make much sense either. Except he lives in a cold-war paradigm with Iran. Which clearly could be shifted to anywhere in the world.

Feltman will pick sides whether it is in Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia or Sudan. This man will also pin-point and look after the U.S. interests. That is why this man isn’t just a random a dude travelling and taking a safari. No, this man will not be the best diplomat. A man who could easily ask for a military government in Lebanon (wikileaks leaked cables proved that). He could easily assess a situation and confess to the sustainability now. Just to buy peace and the comfort of having a U.S. ally on the throne.

As a Special Envoy he is supposed to mediate in Tigray conflict, which has been going on since 4th November 2020. There he will by default have to intervene with the Tripartite Alliance and get vouched by them for talks. However, Abiy haven’t been in favour of any real talks or outsiders looking into it. As that would devastate his image and tarnish his “reformist” mind.

The Special Envoy is also supposed to mediate in the Al-Fashaqa triangle. Where the Sudanese have sent more forces and secured their border points. While the Ethiopian with their Tripartite Alliance have entered in here as an escalation of the Tigray conflict. Abiy have held small talks with Al-Burhan, but nothing sincere. It seems likely that the Special Envoy needs a miracle and I wonder, if he would booster the new ally in Khartoum or try to appease Addis Ababa. Hard to know, but with the likes of Feltman will have to be calm and figure out what matters here.

The last piece of trouble ahead is the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the Nile dialogue between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan. The three has held negotiations and talks, but haven’t landed on a agreement to settle the shared water. This here is both a talk of sovereign use of water sources and how that will affect the up-stream nations. This is why the Special Envoy have to dwindle into colonial agreements and newer ones as well. While being able to play ball with Cairo, Khartoum and Addis Ababa. His career task alone to finalize and be able to please all parties. Someone has to give, but we can wonder who will do that.

The GERD negotiations and talks alone will be more hostile. As the Ethiopian claims in the Al-Fashaqa region/triangle and their skirmishes inside Sudan. The relations has soured over this. That will not help the Special Envoy before even entering. As well, as his intervention or possible mandate hasn’t been granted by any of the parties involved. Who hasn’t a favourable view of American touches here. As the previous administration was taken Egypt’s side and this feeling might linger on.

Therefore, the likes of a Special Envoy in the first place is a noble idea of Biden. Nevertheless, taking a career diplomat should been seen as a positive. However, the history of Feltman and his manners. He can be seen as a spinster for American interests over the needs to salvage peace. This man isn’t the one who should have been sent. Maybe, Biden should have tried to get someone appointed through the African Union or boost IGAD itself. Even though these mechanisms are weak, but joint ventures with United Nations has helped in the past. Therefore, if Biden and UNSC had intervened with a UN-AU prospects into both Tigray, GERD and Ethiopian-Sudan tensions. The possible outcome could have been better and properly monitored by the International community.

However, a Feltman will only serve Washington D.C. and their needs. While being a token American interfering for these interests. He will not be there to be a peacemaker. Just like Abiy isn’t a man of peace either by any stretch of imagination. Al-Burhan and the Sovereign Council is also military men. When there is very civilians and more soldiers on the ground. There is little stopping more conflict. There is a need for mediation and talks between the leaders who orders the battalions.

Nevertheless, Feltman isn’t the man and just by the mere history. It is a flawed enterprise to send him now. Especially, when I cannot see or heard any of the parties have really asked of this of late. The need for local solutions is clear. There is a need for salvaging hope in the midst of the conflict. Feltman isn’t the man to interfere here.

He is getting a false start, as he comes as a forced surprise on all stakeholders and governments. It is not like he has been vetted or accepted by anyone else than Biden and Blinken. They have handpicked him and vouched for him. Now, he has to drop his credentials at all the mentioned capitals and after that pick a leaf for possible talks about the advanced weaponry and silence them as well.

I wouldn’t want to be in Feltman’s shoes at this point in time. First his not the man for the job. No matter about his long career. The reputation he has follows him and makes him questionable at best. Secondly, he has a mandate from Washington D.C. but not from the any of the sovereign nations his supposed to interfere in. Third, the U.S. isn’t that favourable or a “neutral” in these conflicts. Therefore, he has throw a curveball to be able to wing it here.

Feltman is in battles where he cannot win and I cannot see it coming Unless, there is a sudden miracle or a moment of nostalgia … where they changes their stances and gives way. However, that happens in movies, but not in the real world. Peace.

Ethiopia: Statement by the Call to Action on Protection from Gender-based Violence within the Tigray region of Ethiopia (23.04.2021)
