People are steady praising the reforms of Addis Ababa without recognizing that the state and the authorities are still violently oppressing people. The Oromo isn’t in the same regards as before, because of the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Defence Force (EPRDF) have now Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, who is a Oromo himself. That is why the besieged regions of the past isn’t as much. Even as the Amhara and Ogaden, still has it coming.
The Prime Minister have made peace with Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia. Where the troops close to the border with Eritrea is promised to cease to exist or to be redeployed. The Ethiopian troops is steady and active within the Federal Republic of Somalia. Still, the narrative, that everything has turned funky dory in Ethiopia. Isn’t all true.
That the ones who asked for better pay and went to the Prime Minister office in Addis Ababa, the young soldiers doing so is charged with 14 years in prison. That is a proof, that the state still expect respect first and later will retaliate.
The EPRDF is also trying to make peace with opposition groups, that is to show signs of betterment, but still, there should be doubts. Since there are still violent activity and killings going on. There is steady ambushes and killings in the Ogaden Region. It has been going on all of the month of December and November. Not, that it has hit the headlines, because the agreements made with Ginabot 7 (G7), Oromo Liberation Front, (OLF), Afar People’s Liberation Front (APLF), Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) and Tigray People’s Democratic Movement (TPDM).
All of those agreements and movements are good news. But, likewise the sad news is that in Moyale on the 15th December, there was report of 25 Somalian killed in the town. This as Oromo militias are targeting the Somali citizens of the region and does it systematically. That should be worrying, but not like the Police either. Why I am saying it is systematic, is that on the 13th December, the same militia assaulted 60 people in the same town and killed another 17 Somali citizens there. That means around 40 people died within a week. If that isn’t striking, nothing is, but because the reforms and positive vibes comes from the capital. That overshadow the dire distress and hurt done in the Ogaden region. Which shouldn’t be forgotten in the scheme of things. Just like the distress and hurt under the State of Emergency in Oromia and Amhara of recent years. All of this should be messaged about.
Because this is lives in general, that is taken out by one group going against another. This is the group (Oromo) who was oppressed strongly during the EPRDF era. Now they are generating a para-military militia avenging their own oppression with killings in the Ogaden. This is the Oromo people attacking and killing Somali civilians. That should be told and not forgotten, as the authorities are not stopping them. The continuation of the killings should be remembered and the lost ones. Shall, not be revenged, but get justice for. So, that the ones who are in-charge and the ones who pushes this to happen. Get their punishment through court of justice.
The lives taken in Ogaden must be remembered. These lives has value and their lives deserves credit. As they were lives taken for another groups will to annex and control it.
The EPRDF if it was a reforming force, who cared about the lives in the Republic. They would have reacted and not let the continued violence happen, but they do. It continues and the Police Force, the army doesn’t stop it. Even when it persist, they are looking the other way. That is the sad reality. What is even worse. Is that the amounts of killings doesn’t make headlines or bothers any of the allies of Addis Ababa. As the villages, the border-town and other places are burning, the people are dying and the Oromo para-military groups are allowed to their part in the Ogaden region. Peace.

In Khartoum and elsewhere in the Republic, the riots against the state continues. This being against President Omar Al-Bashir and his party, which has controlled the state for over 30 years. The government have lacked financial control, as the bread prices are souring, the lack of fuel and also empty ATMs.
The dictatorship of thirty years, has during its recent four days shown it oppressive behavior. With leaked videos of the live-bullets against citizens. Today, there are even soldiers with machine guns doing shooting against the public. All of this shows again, that President Al-Bashir doesn’t care about other people’s lives. As he orders total destruction. Just to stay in power.
The official death number of today is 9, while other claims to 22 people who lost their lives.
We also know that the state is afraid of this riots, as the Universities are getting closed indefinitely as a result. The closure is to stop the youth and disembark them from the cities where the Universities are. However, the share size of the demonstrations and the people assembled, is from all walks of life, even police officers have dropped their uniforms to join in. As they are tired of the dictatorship itself.
We don’t know to much about the riots and demonstrations, as the state has slowed down internet, blocked social media sites and the biggest telecommunication company Zain has been blocked earlier in the week.
Still, with doze measures done by the state, still some vital information are leaked about the state activity and repressive acts against own citizens. However, this is not new, as the state under Al-Bashir has been violated human rights and crimes against humanity in Darfur, South Sudan and within South Kordofan. Therefore, that he would do such things to stay in power. Isn’t exactly new.
There is also reports of opposition leaders being arrested as a result of the continued riots, but that hasn’t been verified at this point. But that wouldn’t be dramatic or out of question. As the same state is shooting directly with machine guns against the demonstrators.
Time will tell how this one goes, but what we do know is that the people are rising and not accepting to be silenced. By the regime that has taken them for granted and thought they could spark fear in them. They are speaking up on the streets and saying what they feel is justified. It is about time.
President Al-Bashir, your time is up. Peace.

There are now reports and indications, as of the Council of Ministers have made an arrangement to work on a law, where the goal is for the political capital of Burundi to be moved from Bujumbura to second biggest city, Gitega. As it was the Second Minute from the Council of Ministers today.
This is clear indication that the President and his party are planning a move. That Pierre Nkurunziza has another giant project, than his own re-election in 2020. Something only a dictator would do, to make his mark.
What is special is that Nkurunziza had parts of his early life in Gitega and went to Secondary School there. So this would be going back to his roots. Gitega is also strategic in the geography of the Republic. But seemingly, the guess would be to get foreign donations and loans to sustain a move like this. As the Burundian government have felt the falling regard with donors. Not so strange, when several foreign NGOs are closing because they will not follow the new laws on ethnic employment standards, which the government has put on them.
Now, the CNDD-FDD and the Council of Ministers are planning a move, there are reports that the capital will be separate, that the Financial Part will still be in Bujumbura, but the political will be in Gitega. Than, its a partial move from the authorities. No matter what, this is move done on a purpose.
Either to solidify the CNDD-FDD and the Presidency with a giant symbolic project like this. If the President does this, he keeps his old promise from 2007. Maybe, at the same time, he should be able to raise funds to make the defunct airport working again. But, that would be a side-show in the schemes of things.
Gitega or Kitega Town was the town of the kings or the Mwami. That would be fitting for the Imboneza yamaho or the eternal leader of the Republic. His wishes has to be honored. Now that he is more secured, ensured the laws on his side and the all the branches of government follows him. He can move the Capital of the Kings. So, that he can be the eternal leader from where the kings reigned in the past.
It would make sense in that regard to move it there. As the Eternal Leader would follow the proud Kingdom of Burundi, even if the last king was killed there in 1972. He still would follow and continue that, as the Bujumbura would be where the money is, but the power would be in Gitega.
What is more rare, is that Bujumbura has about 497,000, while Gitega has about 22,000 citizens in it. Therefore, he sizes and vast difference is obvious. As the new capital would only be a power move and a way of diverting funds. Since the government would need massive changes and funding to make Gitega a viable political capital, like a National Assembly and other houses of the branches of government there. Which is today in Bujumbura. They would also need to inquire the allies and the ones with diplomatic mission to move, if they want to be close to sphere of power.
This is all, just mere speculations at this point. As the Parliament haven’t voted for the bill and it is in the works. The text of the law have not yet been leaked or any sort of draft either. Therefore, who knows the whole piece of the puzzle. However, this is a major move and an expensive one.
A clear message by the President and his party. That Nkurunziza are not fooling around and want it all his way. The Eternal Leader, in the town of the Kings and residing there would be more peaceful, than in Bujumbura. Peace.
