Opinion: Magufuli is now the Big-Brother!

We are rapidly entering the age of no privacy, where everyone is open to surveillance at all times; where there are no secrets from government.” [Osborn v. United States, 385 U.S. 323, 341 (1966) (dissenting)]” – William O. Douglas

No matter where you are, where you go or what you do, President John Pombe Magufuli follows you. Especially, if he has appointed you. He does it, he says to ensure better working environment and results. Alas, however, this is surveillance tactics. Which are usually only done by People who has warrants and works on Criminal Investigations for ensuring espionage or even illegal activity of gangs and others. The President of Tanzania. Has gone total estranged with privacy, with respect of fellow human beings and are now wire-tapping or having surveillance of the fellow appointed people’s phones. So, if they write something he might not like or accept. He might fire them!

Here is a fragment of Edge, who has taken some from The Citizen (Tanzania):

““When I tracked the telephone message between Mwalimu and Chaula, I noticed a strain in their working relationship. So to make their quarrels stop, I decided to place them under the same ministry,” Magufuli is quoted by The Citizen as saying. Magufuli told the new appointees to take care because they will face more trials during their work “I’m watching you. These quarrels must stop,” he warned” (Edge.ug – ‘I tap texts of my ministers, says Magufuli’ 09.01.2019, link: http://edge.ug/2019/01/09/i-tap-texts-of-my-ministers-says-magufuli/.

He said he is watching you. Like a hawk, the man is following the steps of Stasi Apparatus, the sort of surveillance, that is ensuring that you have spies everywhere and anyone can tell on you. He follows the cellphones of his staff and his appointments, the cabinet members and government officials. If this isn’t insulting anyone, than its weird. No one should be kept under surveillance, unless there is probable cause of intent or crimes committed to prove the need for this.

It shouldn’t be a tool of an Executive, to ensure people are working like you should. If they don’t work like you want them. Tell them the protocol and procedures, explain how you want the working environment to be and ensure the staff together with the appointed follows all guidelines put in place. Don’t tap their phones, listen to conversations, read their messages and whatnot. That is just some nonchalant, disrespectful and disgraceful acts of spite, evading privacy and social protocol. Especially, since these people are supposed to be the trusted men and woman.

He proved today with his statements, that there is no-privacy, there is no forum undisclosed. He does this to his own. No matter, what reasons he gives. It is an insane idea. If these men or woman, was cartel/triad/mafia members of secretive gangster operation. I would have understood the surveillance on them and the need for following their telecommunication.

Alas, these people are government officials, who are the appointed people of the Head of State. Which, the Head of States is monitoring. That is just wrong. It would be wrong if he did it, because he could to anybody. This is the sort of disgraceful act, a President shouldn’t do, but apparently, he does and is proud of it too. Peace.

Age Limit: The value of the Life Presidency is now about two Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita!

What if I told you that, based on the incoming numbers from today’s reporting and last year. We can establish the certain cost of the Age Limit Bill and how much the National Resistance Movement (NRM) or the NRM MPs has cost in total. An amendment of the Constitution, which in purpose have given President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Life Presidency.

With that in mind, I have calculated what each of the NRM MPs have gotten in payment. As it first was the cost of Consultations and the total value of that, later I have taken the direct payment for passing the bill. So take a look!

Latest report on the payment:

The first installment of Shs 40 million was paid before the amendment was passed in 2017 with another installment of Shs 100 million coming immediately after the passing of the Bill. The final installment of Shs 60 million was to be paid on November 30 last year. At the beginning of this week, the MPs received telephone calls from the leadership of the NRM Parliamentary caucus to go for the money but instead of the Shs 60 million, the MPs received Shs 45 million” (Kabuubi, 2019).

Lets do some calculations:

Each of the 317 Members of the NRM Caucus have gotten in total Shs. 85 million shillings or offered this, as it is reported. I will look at the whole sum for everyone, as it is to hectic to calculate the ones that didn’t receive it all, as they wanted the whole sum of Shs. 100 million, but the proof of cost is still up-to-date. As it shows how much the state anticipated to pay for the whole operation to the MPs in question.

So the sum for passing to date is about Shs. 85 million Ugandan shillings doesn’t say so much internationally, so if your using the foreign exchange today. Each MP would get in about $22,740 US Dollars. That is in both instances with the total fee, however, today, they got equlent about “only” $ 12,041 US Dollars or £9,415 Great British Pounds.

This is the payment done for the bill itself, but for the ones remembering back in time. This isn’t the first fee, these honourables got for doing so. The MPs got a consultation fee each. Which I stated like this in October 2018, when the MPs got Shs. 29 millions each for consulting their constituents.

To put the 29 million in perspective is about $ 8000 United States Dollars or £ 6000 Great British Pounds (With the exchange rate in October 2018). So it isThe whole cost of the consultation of the bill was $ 3,553.660 or about 3,5 million United States Dollar. That is the cost of the MPs consultations is equivalent of 13 billion Uganda Shillings or about 3,5 million US Dollars.

That was then, but now with the revelation, there are more money at play. Making the calculation more interesting. As the whole freaking project is getting under wraps. Because, we should calculate all the millions spent on these MPs, to prove the value of Life Presidency in the eyes of Bosco. As he sees this sums fit to give life to his dream of ruling until eternity. The $ 3,5m USD was premature. Since there was even the direct payments to the 317 NRM Caucus MPs. Which was revealed today.

With that in mind, lets do the Math:

Shs. 29m + Shs. 85m = Shs. 114m or $ 30,501 USD or even £ 23,844 GBP each.

That is what the MPs gotten each in Consultation Fees and Direct Payment. We should still look at the whole shindig. Therefore we have to look into how much Shs. 114m are times 317 MPs. That is about Shs. 36 billion or into $ 9,6m USD, or about £ 7,5m GBP.

To put that in perspective how much that really is. In Ugandan Perspective, it is as much as the Namugongo Museum Development Committee planned in 2016 to spend on Anglican Martyrs Shrine in Namugongo, as they would develop the museum, build a conference centre, guest house and a library.

To do another one, the value of the Age Limit bills as of today, it is about the value of two Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, which is valued about $4.8m USD. Which is an upgrade, as in October last year, the value of the Age Limit was valued to one single Aston Martin. Which is fine itself, but a bit low, considering the value of the Presidency and its perks. The Presidency should cost more and be more expensive. This is still cheap, even if two Koenigsegg is a costly affair.

We should expect more, as we know how the prices on good players are in the Premier League, they are through the roof and a slot of the Presidency shouldn’t be sold for cheap, it should be some Gareth Bale, Christiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé or Neymar. The Ugandan President cost as much as the transfer of Nottingham Forrest Michael Antonio to West Ham in 2016, which in the schemes of things. Is nothing in comparison to the trade of Age Limit. The gift of extension of Presidency and being the Head of State, the Commander-in-Chief and so-on. That should be valued more.

Two fantastic Koeningsegg or a Championship transfer to the Premier League isn’t capturing the seriousness in the trade. To get the opportunity of becoming President for Life, should cost more. We all should agree on that. Peace.

NYS-Scandal 2.0: A showdown in Court, but with no flair!

Today, there is clear evidence that the DPP Noordin Haji doesn’t build up cases or even deliver probable cause against the ones that is charged. If the DPP and the State Prosecution had followed up the case, the National Youth Service Scandal 2.0. This is nothing new in Kenya, as the Government of Kenya (GoK) and the Jubilee Administration have several of questionable transactions and misuse of funds. That is clearly known by the people and also by the DPP.

DPP Haji, if he was really serious about the NYS Scandal 2.0, they wouldn’t have made a case, had the trial and awaited the verdict without proper cause. That sounds unserious on the matter at hand, that the DPP and State Prosecution don’t have collected the needed evidence of the dubious transactions to fictitious companies and tenders. If the DPP really wanted this to go anyway, the state and himself would have delivered the proof of it.

Take a look!

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has with withdrawn corruption charges against 11 suspects linked to the second National Youth Service (NYS) scandal for lack of evidence. Charges against former NYS Deputy Director General Sammy Michuki, Rodgers Nzioka, Simon Kanyi, Steven Riungu, Josephat Njoroge, Lucas Otieno, Timothy Kiplagat, Charles Makau, Jackson Matego Juma, Humphrey Odhiambo, Bernard Masika were withdrawn under Section 87 A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC); this, however, means that should the state get any evidence implicating them in the case then they will be brought back before the court for prosecution” (Citizen TV Kenya, 07.01.2019).

We can really see what happen today, that is showing how the lack of work and proof is clearing people. The DPP and State Prosecution is at fault, not the Courts who cleared this Public Officials and appointed ones who are supposed to serve the public. We are just seeing, the cause and the effect.

This is a deliberate act by the DPP and the state, as a way to stop more prosecution of them. As the state failed to deliver proof of mischief or criminal intent, of thieving the state of funds from the NYS. That is actions happens as they followed. They are thinking they are fooling people. That the DPP lost a case, but seemingly this is the elite of untouchables, which the DPP cannot play around with. As they are people who are trusted by the President and Deputy President. They are people who are in high regard. That is why the DPP couldn’t really win the case or prove the corrupt behaviour, which was alleged, but not enough apparently.

The ghosts wasn’t proven, the fake tenders wasn’t either, because the state cannot touch these ones. As the DPP knows and we knows too.

They can play fools with ghosts, but we will not follow it. Because we are smarter and thinking more straight than that. The DPP are following orders, the Courts are getting a weak case. So the pieces of the puzzle matches and the ones charges get off the hook. They got shooked, but not took. Feel me?

Peace.
