Zimbabwe: What is your game-plan now, Mr. President?

I got to ask, even if I don’t have any answers. As the depressing news and verified information is leaking from Zimbabwe. The days of the Shutdown, the dire straits. Some say it is propaganda and others trying to deflect it. Others saying the authorities are not at fault and others blame the MDC Alliance.

Whatever it is, it has been ordered from the “Above High”, the ones ushering in the violence, the killings, the arrests, abductions and the destruction of society. Comes from somewhere. The acts of aggression against civilians, the acts of arresting and detaining the fellow civil society leaders, either activists or union leaders. They have all been taken into custody and put on trial. They have all been silenced, like the Social Media, the Internet Blockade and other acts to stifle the voices of dissidents. So, that the President, the ZANU-PF and the Authorities could control the information flow.

However, that has not worked. Therefore, the acts against MDC is shown to the world, the way the authorities have picked up Union Leaders of late. Also, detaining other Civil Society Organizations leaders and activists, who have been targeted by the government.

Also, the other realities is the leaked footage of rape and the beatings of civilians. This has been shown to the world. The atrocities have been told now, the world has seen the sinister acts of the government against its own.

While, that is happening, the road-blocks, the destruction of markers within Harare and so on. There are so many bad things happening. It is hard to follow. Worse to verify, while the leaked footage are showing what sort of tools the government are using.

As President Emmerson Mnangagwa can stop this, as Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga can order this to stop. That is if they want this circle of destruction and sinister acts to stop. However, after two weeks of evil and of murky acts, which no government should do towards their own or anyone else for that matter. They are using rape, violence and fear against the civilians. As they we’re starting to demonstrate against skyrocketing prices on fuel overnight.

What is your game-plan now? Are you planning together with the PFee to destroy more people lives and show more sinister violence against them? Are this the legacy, the proud moment of your rule to deplete society? Is that why you wanted to takeover for Mugabe so you could repeat Gukurahundi of the 1980s. Then was to assault the ones who was behind Joshua Nkomo, now the same leadership are attacking the ones who are in and around Nelson Chamisa. Only him whose out of the spotlight for now.

What the world has seen is that the Crocodile and his henchmen bites. They bite so hard and muffle with the public. Mnangagwa and Chiwenga could have handled these demonstrations differently. However, you decided to do this.

As President and Vice-President, you could have handled this differently. Instead you used the soldiers, police and people are hiding from the law in fear of being haunted down like fellow comrades. That is the society the shutdown and PFee wants to have. They are using force and usign all means to stop them. This is not reforming, but an armed military dictatorship with no mercy.

Mr. President, what is your game-plan now?

Will you play PR Games? Or will you act sensible?

Because, right now, as the beginning of the Shutdown, the Republic is burning, people are getting hurt. People are getting touched by association or being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The authorities instead of guarding the public, they are punishing them. For voicing the frustration at the economic and financial mismanagement done by the PFee for years. Instead of finding solutions to it. The government sent weapons and assaulted the population.

Is that all your made of Mr. President, is that all you are? You are such a weak man, that cannot build anything, but only destroy? Is that who you are?

Because it looks like it and your game plan, suuuuuucks! Peace.

Cameroon: Kamto and Nzongang arrested today!

The continued prosecution of opposition people continues in the Republic of Cameroon. Today, the Police came for the founder and leader Maurice Kamto, the Cameroon Renaissance Movement for Cameroon (CRM). There are reports of other party officials who has been taken for interrogation by the authorities. This has been reported by secure sources within the Republic.

Therefore, this is verified. Albert Nzongang have also been picked up by the authorities. We don’t know where they are. There was report of a besieging his home.

All of this, because the CRM tried to demonstrate against the rigged election in favour of Dictator Paul Biya, the diaspora President in Switzerland and his ruling by decree. They are ready for justice and rule of law. Apparently, their voices are dangerous for the old man in far away mountains in Europe.

That is why he has ordered the authorities to take them in and silence them. Do the same to CRM as they have done to the ones fighting for the Ambazonia Republic.

All of this is happening because of the opposition party tried to hold peaceful demonstrations in Duoala and Yaounde.

We don’t know how this will go, but this very common by regimes like this to hunt the voices of dissent and try to isolate them. They are clearly trying to ensure that Kamto and the CRM has no voice and ability to be in the public eye. Trying to crack-down on their activity and leadership, so that the Opposition cannot muster strength to challenge the regime. Peace.

South Sudan vaccinates health workers against Ebola (28.01.2019)

Vaccination began in Yambio, Gbudue State, but health workers in Tombura, Yei and Nimule as well as the capital city, Juba, will also be offered the vaccine.

YAMBIO, South Sudan, January 28, 2019 – The Ministry of Health of South Sudan, with support from the World Health Organization (WHO), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, UNICEF and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other partners, today started vaccinating health workers and other front-line responders against Ebola as part of preparedness measures to fight the spread of the disease.

Vaccination began in Yambio, Gbudue State, but health workers in Tombura, Yei and Nimule as well as the capital city, Juba, will also be offered the vaccine. These are high-risk areas bordering the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), now experiencing its tenth outbreak of Ebola. The outbreak began 1 August 2018. Neighbouring countries have not reported any cases of Ebola, but preparedness is crucial.

As part of these preparedness activities, South Sudan received 2 160 doses of the Ebola vaccine (rVSV-ZEBOV) from Merck, the vaccine developer. The vaccine offers protection against the Zaire strain of the virus, which is the one affecting DRC at present.

“It is absolutely vital that we are prepared for any potential case of Ebola spreading beyond the Democratic Republic of the Congo,” said Dr Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Regional Director for Africa. “WHO is investing a huge amount of resources into preventing Ebola from spreading outside DRC and helping governments ramp up their readiness to respond should any country have a positive case of Ebola.”

Vaccination is one of a raft of preparedness measures South Sudan is putting into place. WHO has deployed more than 30 staff members to support these activities.

In particular, WHO has helped train 60 health workers in good clinical practice principles and protocol procedures to administer the yet-to-be-licensed Ebola vaccine. To detect any travellers entering the country who may be infected with the virus, the Ministry of Health, with the support of its partners, has established 17 screening points. Nearly 1 million people have been screened to date.

WHO is also supporting engagement with communities, active surveillance for the disease at the community and health facility levels, strengthening capacity for infection prevention and control and case management, and supporting dissemination of Ebola information through the media. Local laboratory capacity to test samples taken from people suspected of having Ebola is also being strengthened. Protective gear for responders has been stockpiled in a dedicated warehouse.

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, in addition to its work making the Ebola vaccine stockpile available, is providing US$2 million to support the WHO’s vaccination efforts in countries neighbouring the DRC, including South Sudan.

“Although research is ongoing, the evidence so far suggests the Ebola vaccine is a highly effective tool to help stop epidemics and can be used to prevent this national outbreak from becoming a regional one,” said Dr Seth Berkley, CEO of Gavi. “Vaccinating front-line workers and health workers in South Sudan border regions will be crucial: an outbreak in South Sudan would be deeply concerning.”

Uganda began vaccinating its front-line workers in November 2018. So far, more than 2 600 health workers in eight high-risk districts have been immunized. In DRC, more than 66 000 people have been vaccinated – more than 21,000 of them are health and other front-line workers. Rwanda also plans to vaccinate its front-line responders.

The yet-to-be-licensed rVSV-ZEBOV vaccine has been shown to be highly protective against the Zaire strain of the Ebola virus in a major trial. Though not yet commercially licensed, the vaccine is being provided under what is known as “compassionate use” in the ongoing Ebola outbreak in North Kivu province of DRC as part of recommendations from the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization. This vaccine was also used in the Ebola outbreak in Equateur province of DRC in May–July 2018.
