Sudan: Forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change – Joint Statement (11.04.2019)

Today, the 11th April 2019 is a very significant day. Because, this is the first without Omar Al-Bashir as the Head of State, Commander-in-Chief nor as the President of Sudan. A role he has had since 30th June 1989.
This man have held his population captive, he has used all sorts of terror and use of force to get people into submission. This President have misused his time in power, he has assaulted all parts of life and certainly been the tyrant from Khartoum. Today, that play has ceased and all his sins will hopefully be revealed, as there are so many scores of dead, of hurt and of people who has fled this President’s reign. Now, is his time to answer for it.
Has been arrested and the swift transition is in play. The military, the army is trying to take control of the circles of power. The men behind the Rapid Support Force (RSF), the Janjaweed and others. Who earlier this morning took over the TV/Radios, as they have again issues a National Emergency for 3 months. While promising a Transitional Council and a waiting period of 2 years to settle the scores. Surely, the ones starting the Revolution will not be satisfied with same people leading the army under Al-Bashir will still bask in glory control, as his fate is sealed. They feel that the same regime is under control and only the head been cut off.
They are putting on a curfew of 10PM-4AM and dissolution of the Constitution. This means that the army is owning the Republic. The same army that has been behind Al-Bashir all his days, until today. The vital part of his reign and the ones securing his rule. They are now in-charge and setting the standards. They are banning the sit-in-demonstrations that been going for a week and surely not answering all the demands of the Sudanese Professional Association (SPA). They are saying they will continue to demonstrate and to organize protests against the regime. As they have seen enough bloodless coups being done, to accept this one too. Therefore, they will not accept the 2-year transition period either. Surely expect them to ask for the articles of the Declaration of Freedom and Change to be held. So, that the public get a civilian rule and justice for all the Sudanese people.
The one leading now is Awad Mohamed Ahmed Ihn Ouf, the man whose leading the High Council of Armed Forces, is the former Vice-President and Defence Minister. Surely, he will continue where he left off and will be no change to what Al-Bashir did in his day. Because, this is the henchmen of the regime taking over. Not a new breed or anyone hopeful.
With all these measures, the National Congress Party and the army is planning to keep the Republic under siege, but just under a new name. We can hope this revolution get more answers, than just switching the head on top. Even if that is a bittersweet victory, in the sense that the tyrant is gone, but his administration lingers on. They are proving today, to do as much as possible to remain.
Don’t expect the public to accept this verdict, this change as this is barely a change of guard. They have taken out one person, but the same junta is on top. There isn’t really more than just quick swift change, which not materialized, while they hope this will stop the demonstrations. They are already tired of this oppressive, militaristic junta taking control and not letting the people decide who are supposed to run the Republic. This is why, they have been demonstrating since Mid-December 2018 and have had a week of sit-in at the Army Headquarters in Khartoum.
They will not just accept this like that, the SPA and the ones who initiating this will not eat it and say its cool. Clearly, this is not the end, but a new beginning. I hope that it is for something sustainable and for a better tomorrow.
Peace.

“Justice looks for no prize and no price; it is sought for itself, and is at once the cause and meaning of all the virtues. . . . The worst kind of injustice is to look for profit from injustice.” – Marcus Tullius Cicero
Pardon me, but I got to ask a foolish question. Just to prove a point. It is tiring to know, that every single time the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is trying to convene their party, hold rallies or even meet up. The Police Force is on their tail. The Calvary is hidden behind the bushes, ambushes them with tear-gas, arresting key people and as scheduled programming. Arresting FDC Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat. As well, as silencing the meetings between the Central Leadership of the Party and Local Leadership.
The Democratic Principle from the 1995 Constitution:
“II. Democratic principles.
(i) The State shall be based on democratic principles which empower and encourage the active participation of all citizens at all levels in their own governance”
This is so common, that I got to ask, because the Republic, still has laws. More laws, than just the Public Order Management Act, even if that is more used or accessible, than the Penal Codes. Alas, the Political Parties Act of 2005 article 10 states:
“(1) A political party or organisation shall, in its internal organisation, comply with the provisions of the Constitution, in particular articles 71 and 72 of the Constitution”.
So, as the law states that, the key paragraphs of the Constitution is as follows:
“71. Multiparty political system.
A political party in the multiparty political system shall conform to the following principles—
(a) every political party shall have a national character;
(b) membership of a political party shall not be based on sex, ethnicity, religion or other sectional division;
(c) the internal organisation of a political party shall conform to the democratic principles enshrined in this Constitution;
(d) members of the national organs of a political party shall be regularly elected from citizens of Uganda in conformity with the provisions of paragraphs (a) and (b) of this article and with due consideration for gender;
(e) political parties shall be required by law to account for the sources and use of their funds and assets;
(f) no person shall be compelled to join a particular party by virtue of belonging to an organisation or interest group.
72. Right to form political organisations.
(1) Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, the right to form political parties and any other political organisations is guaranteed.
(2) An organisation shall not operate as a political party or organisation unless it conforms to the principles laid down in this Constitution and it is registered.
(3) Parliament shall by law regulate the financing and functioning of political organisations”
Why do I mention all, this, well, the FDC cannot convene or meet. They cannot even hold a meaningful meeting in nearly any parts of the Republic without any interference or legal blockade from the state. Today, was just another day of that in Tororo. This is getting old, as these laws I am reciting is the basics. It is the mere justification of this Republic. The Constitution of 1995 and its words of wisdom. It isn’t me as foreigner explaining common sense. This is the laws of the land.
If rule of law mattered to the National Resistance Movement, if the laws had any values, the FDC would have been allowed to meet, greet and strategies. However, that is merely impossible. As every step of the way, the Police is following, the ISO and Flying Squad is on tight leach. Awaiting orders to block, depose and destroy the venue. That is just what they do. All over the Republic.
The NRM wouldn’t do this, if this was a friendly and a party they didn’t see as a threat. Because the NRM and the Police Force, apparently fears the FDC. That is why they have no issues stopping the internal works of the FDC. They are really just disembarking from the Constitution and making their own justifications with the use of the Penal Code and the POMA. At all means, to silence and oppress dissidents.
The Constitution of 1995 with the articles 71 & 72 is fine on paper, the Political Parties Act 2005 article 10 is perfection too, but what has the power to superseded these ones is the POMA. It is evident, again and again.
That is why the FDC must have violated the 71 & 72, because if they haven’t, why is it so darn hard for them to do internal party politics without the coppers knocking on their door?
Peace.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, local ophthalmologists are learning to provide specialized care to Ebola Survivors.
GENEVA, Switzerland, April 10, 2019 – Knowledge gained following the 2014–16 West Africa Ebola outbreak identified a number of challenges survivors face, including reduced or blurred vision stemming from inflammation of their eyes. About 20% of survivors from that outbreak had some form of eye problem.
By identifying and treating these problems early, serious consequences, including blindness, can be averted. With the Ministry of Health of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the World Health Organization recently organized an eye clinic to check on the eye health of survivors of the current Ebola outbreak.
The clinic was held in Beni, DRC, one of the affected areas, from 25 March to 1 April. In addition, an eye clinic in Butembo, another affected area, was equipped so that they can provide this specialized care to survivors there. This is the first time in an Ebola outbreak that follow-up for eye care has happened so soon after survivors have been released from care.
Several survivors also helped with the planning and administration of the clinic. Partners in this project include Emory University, which deployed two ophthalmologists, and University of North Carolina which deployed one ophthalmologist to the project via the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network, which is hosted by WHO.
Over 250 survivors were seen. The team noted that complications such as uveitis were observed at lower rates compared to cases from the 2014–16 West Africa Ebola outbreak. So far only one survivor had eye complications that may be linked to Ebola.
As part of the programme, international specialists trained 10 Congolese ophthalmologists on how to identify and treat Ebola-related eye issues. Feedback from participating national healthcare providers and enrolled survivors was overwhelmingly positive.
Next steps will be to continue to follow up with survivors, at the clinics held each month, where they are provided medical, biological and psychological care. There are currently over 300 survivors registered in the follow-up programme.

That Department for Homeland Security Secretary Kristjen Nielsen has now resigning and still it isn’t good news. It is just someone who has offered her greed for being in power, by defending someone indefensible. That is who she is and how she will be remembered.
This former DHS Secretary will be remembered for the way the she handled the Zero Tolerance Policy. The way she has defended the policy of separating children from the parents on the border. The way the state has built camps for kids and let them even lose their lives there. If not traumatise the kids and even cage them in. Depending on which private firm the state had given contracts to do this for ICE and the DHS.
Therefore, I am not felling sorry for Nielsen. She has written herself into the Zero Tolerance Policy History and will be remembered for the two years of tears, pain and sorrow, she has helped push on innocent people crossing the border. Which shouldn’t be done in this and treating the people like they are illegal. There are procedures and laws to enforce this, there always has been for sovereign republic.
However, making them criminal by passing over the border is totally outlandish. Instead of ensuring they are following the codes and the justice for everyone. Not everyone passing over the border would have the right or opportunity to get visa to stay. Nevertheless, the state shouldn’t act upon them this way. It is injustice to the innocent children and tormenting the parents for trying to find a better life or even trying to live the “American Dream”.
Like D’Angelo Gore reported in June 2018: “DHS told us the “zero-tolerance” policy went into effect on May 5, and between May 5 and June 9, there had been 2,342 children separated from their parents. Contrary to what Nielsen claimed, other administration officials have acknowledged a change in policy to serve as a deterrent to illegal immigration” (Gore – ‘Nielsen’s Rhetoric on Family Separations’ 20.06.2018, FactCheck.Org).
The Texas Observer reported this also in June 2018: “In a letter sent last week, 19 special agents in charge at ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations unit said that ICE’s controversial detention and deportation policies have made it hard for them to conduct investigations into threats to national security, organized crime, narcotics smuggling and human trafficking. “HSI’s investigations have been perceived as targeting undocumented aliens, instead of the transnational criminal organizations that facilitate cross border crimes impacting our communities and national security,” the special agents in charge wrote in the previously unreported letter. They also wrote that “the perception of HSI’s investigative independence is unnecessarily impacted by the political nature” of ICE’s immigration enforcement. “Many jurisdictions continue to refuse to work with HSI because of a perceived linkage to the politics of civil immigration.”” (Jason Bunch – ‘ICE Criminal Investigators Ask to Be Distanced from Detentions, Deportations in Letter to Kirstjen Nielsen’ 27.06.2018, Texas Observer).
We can see what her work did. She tried to defend and even downplay the narrative, as the innocent civilian migration, the asylum seekers was taken into custody and the kids separated by the authorities. This even made it worse for the same authorities to investigate or follow the illegal crime of drugs. Which has been part of the issue, this Trump Administration has used as a pawn in the Zero Tolerance Policy. Even making it worse to investigate that, because of the horrific tactic of separating families on the border.
She is despicable, she is part of the paradigm that brought the “Shameful Era” back in the United States. Together with Stephen Miller, Sebastian Gorka, Stephen Bannon, Jeff Sessions and the list goes on.
Now, she will not be the DHS Secretary anymore, however, she will always be remembered for caging in kids. For saying to the world that no kids died in the detention camps, when it did. She defended the evil of men. Kristjen stood by this and worked hard to downplay the results of the acts of the Zero Tolerance Policy on the Southern Border.
We can clearly see and remember what she did. Her legacy is sealed by her actions. The words done in defending something no-one should defend. Nielsen has done this to herself. The acts and words are defining her time in Office.
I don’t feel sorry for her, she made the cake and has to eat it. The ones defending her doesn’t care about violations against humanity. They don’t care about the innocent who was violated and taken into custody, because of her enforcement of the Zero Tolerance Policy. That is what will stain her name and her memory. Peace.

The European Union expects that the call for change will prompt a commitment to a peaceful, credible, legitimate and inclusive process that will allow Sudan to carry out essential reforms.
BRUSSELS, Belgium, April 8, 2019 – Since 19 December, peaceful demonstrations have taken place in Sudan. Over the last two days, the Sudanese citizens have come out in unprecedented numbers, calling for change.
The European Union expects that the call for change will prompt a commitment to a peaceful, credible, legitimate and inclusive process that will allow Sudan to carry out essential reforms. These should guarantee the economic security and political representation that the people of Sudan deserve and expect, while providing assurances for the stability of Sudan’s neighbours.
To secure the confidence of Sudanese citizens and many of Sudan’s international partners this process should begin now. Peaceful demonstrations should be permitted. Security forces should not use tear gas and live ammunition against peaceful protesters. Political prisoners should be released.
The people of Sudan have shown remarkable resilience in the face of extraordinary obstacles over many years. Their trust must be won through concrete action by the government.

I will be brief, because this has been said plenty of times before, your time is up and the people is speaking in the streets. Even if you use all your security organization, use all parts of the state apparatus against them. If it is the Rapid Support Force (Janjaweed) or the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) on the people.
You are continuing to kill, arrests and silence the public. While your holding meeting with the military leadership. Because, you know your not the voice of the people anymore. Your not relevant to them. You have overstayed in office and never left since you took power in 1989.
People are tired of militarism. They are tired of your tyranny and looting of the Republic. They are tired of the games, the measures used to get them to be in submission to your rule. Your acts as an overlord, an warlord and a man of the Kalashnikov is over.
President Omar Al-Bashir, your three decades in power is soon over. Your legacy is sealed as the bloodthirsty tyrant you are. You never had interest in serving the Republic or making Sudan proud. You and your cronies was busy eating. The National Congress Party was busy scheming and your are still busy doing that. Trying to figure a way out of stalling the demonstrations and riots. Stopping the people from chanting against you.
The crowds in-front of the Army Headquarters in Khartoum. The Internet-blockade and possible power outage, just shows how your trying to stop the information from leaking. But it still does, because activists are ready.
You have killed ever since the bloodless coup of 30th June 1989. You have had your time and world are watching. The killings, the deaths and the assaults on civil society is known. It is not hidden, as the hospitals are targeted, the activists are dying and the ones who dares to organize revolts against you. Are in the end suffering. Their sacrifice will be remembered, as they fought for justice and for a revolution. For freedom from you and your bloody rule.
It will end. The time is near. It is just like your trying to look the other way. The people are out there. They don’t fear you, they fear God. They are awaiting the fall of their dictator and tyrant.
We are waiting to see, when its the final hour of Omar Al-Bashir. Peace.
