Citizen Mwangi: A tale of an activist apparently turned revolutionary!

“DCI DETECTIVES arrest Boniface Mwangi in Nairobi; police accuse activist of organising a revolution against the Jubilee government” (Nation Breaking News, 06.05.2019).

I didn’t know this, Boniface Mwangi might do a lot of things, he might ask a lot of questions and asks a lot of the authorities. He even tries to get people involved in their civic duties and their rights. He might even be brash about it, direct and say it like it is. Sometimes, people have wondered if he has done this as his hustle. However, he seems like a fighter, not for publicity, but for the causes. Even if he has no direct movement behind him or built around him. Which is weird, in the sense, that a man who is a direct threat to the state, doesn’t have a massive grassroots’ organization to beat the system with.

That is why this day is amazing, as he is charged with organizing a revolution. This is not a joke, this is a serious charge, which the Chief Inspector of Police George Muchiri have charged him with and arrested him for today. Therefore, his own livelihood and life as an activist is on hold. They are claiming he wanted to start a revolution that might cause a civil unrest against the Jubilee government.

This is really bloody brilliant, at the time of the Handshake with the fellow “opposition” parties, which has organized the biggest demonstrations to date of late. The ones whose has the OKOA demos and the other rallies Post Fresh Presidential Elections. Still, the ones organizing them is walking free and about, even assigned public official posts. While, Mwangi has just lingered on the internet and also had speech assignments elsewhere. Even taken a recent trip to Zimbabwe, but not caused havoc.

Why are they doing it now? His articles and speaking engagements has been known for long. His Ukweli Party is known and his Pawa254. Still, none of them is powerful or strong. If a man wants to fight corruption and demonstrate against it is a crime. Then, the President and his cronies should watch out, as they are supposed to have a life-style audit and a war-on-corruption. Alas, that is not happening, because we know they will not fight themselves.

What is unique is arresting the on a likelihood of a possible protest or demonstrations, which will cause civic unrest. If someone should be punished for that in rest memory is Raila Odinga and his CORD/NASA who has really sparked civic unrest in the Republic. Alas, his not an activist, but a high ranking official and a man of grace. Therefore, he will not be touched.

Now, three hours after the news was breaking, there now footage of his release from the Central Police Station. As this news was trending, because it is ridiculous to arrest someone, on a charge on something they haven’t committed or done. They are doing it on the basis, that he might spark civil unrest, but the Police by doing this pre-emptive arrests might clinch in the fire to actually pull-it off. Therefore, this what it is called to say, that something might back-fire.

In this case, this shows what sort of legal society, the Kenyan Republic is at this moment. They are suspecting people of actively engaging in activity to topple the government by a revolution. If the authorities or the regime itself isn’t afraid of the public and their opinion. They wouldn’t arrest someone on this lousy goosy basis as it did today. Because, this is just reckless. The hours of arrest and possible intimidation isn’t a winning tactic. Instead of asking the man, why he does what he does, they put him behind bars. That is just mere insult and another injury to someone whose just trying to do his civic duty. To ask the powers to be, that they can be transparent, just and honest. Which they are not, since they are arresting someone, someone they apparently suggest that he has the amplifier to start a revolution. That is really something else.

How blatant and weak is the government, when they arrest someone on suspicions like this? How idiotic and how much do they disregard the civic duty of all citizens, to ensure the checks and balances of government?

Well, this is just stupid and shows how little faith the Jubilee government has in its population. When even a mere activist can be taken into custody without producing evidence nor justifiable means for his arrest. They might be able to trace his TED talks and talks of demonstrations against the mere scale of grand corruption. But don’t anticipate that to spark a revolution, than John Githongo should have been able a long time ago on the same matter. Peace.

The Reign of Tshisekedi: The 100 days of Nothing!

Surely, the wonder of the world isn’t in the hands of President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, even if he has a fancy title and have the highest office of the Republic. Still, its not like his governing with pride or with honour. As his government aren’t really succeeding and by everyday going.

There are enough trouble brewing in the Republic. There is still lingering insurgency in the provinces of Kivu. The lack of treatment or care for the health care personnel whose there to stagnate the rising crisis in the spiralling ebola crisis. Therefore, there is enough to twist your mind around it, just right there. That without the other powerful questions lingering for the Presidency.

How will the Presidency keep the Katanga satisfied and their will to challenge the Republic, whenever they see fit. When will the President ensure all areas of Ituri is safe. Alas, when will the republic secure and provide status and fair taxation of the mineral extraction industry. Not to forget about the illegal logging and mining in general, done by various rebel outfits, whose questionable support from foreign powers also lingers on like a sour thumb. Hurting innocent civilians and destroying their future.

This is what is happing and a dying silence. The former President and his party, owns the Parliament, has the most of the vital parts of local government and currently in control of all bodies in the near proximity of the President. President Tshisekedi aka Fatshi, who has to beg for the predecessor to do anything. Kabila can toy around and ensure his will be done, as the FCC-CACH agreement is in his mercy and the ones from CACH has to pray to the Gods to get anything. Vital Kamerhe and Tshisekedi was useful pawns for his game.

Now, the same government using similar protocol as it did under the previous leadership to question the opposition and even putting criminal charges on them. Now Martin Fayulu has to get interviewed for “crimes” and the old charges against Moise Katumbi is reappearing out of the forgotten records of cold-cases in Kinshasa. As the G-7/Ensemble/Lamuka leader planned to return from exile. However, by doing that, he would again get into legal jeopardy. The opposition coalition is lucky enough to have Fayulu and Jean Pierre Bemba on its team inside the Republic. Both of them, can certainly anticipate to be touched the Ministry of Justice and the Police. Therefore, the planned changes, seems meaningless. As his doing the same and not really changing anything. Except for hiring close friends and relatives to fitting offices, but that is protocol at this day and age.

Fatshi haven’t delivered anything and he will not have the power to do so. He has to meet and greet Kabila, every time he needs something done. Even beg him for a possibility to pick his Prime Minister. That is even a diplomatic mission for the President, which powers are so little and benign. That Mr. Joseph must be grinning, every time he looks in the mirror. He doesn’t have the scrutiny or the hassle, but the perks. Kabila can enjoy his cup of tea/coffee in the shadows of a tree, while awaiting his President to come and talk for pleasantries. Doing his bidding, to get possibly a positive outcome. Because, the Parliament is his, the Representatives and Governors are his. CACH have nearly nothing and the CENI has blessed this.

Tshisekedi is a puppet, a giant puppet, a puppet with a title. Its not magnificent and not even brilliant. The President is currently a slave to his own fortune, that he was a part of a loot of an election in December 2018 and thought he could get away with it. Now, the same man making deals with are having a field day, because he outsmarted Fatshi and he never understood it. Still, the wants to act like the big-man.

However, the President isn’t a big-man, he tours like one and spends money like one. But at the end of the day. Its Kabila whose still in power and controls it all.

It was supposed to be a “opposition” victory and swift changes. Alas, nothing new under under the sun, just another name to the cupcake or the muffin. Just another colour on the banner and a new suit. Nothing new, nothing changed, except the billing address and possibly the theme. The President of today is about the same as the one of yesterday. Only difference right now is that Kabila didn’t do it with blessings, he did it because he could. On the other hand, Tshisekedi is asking for handouts and for help to rule, because he got nothing.

This is a boring game and will grow old. Quick. An his term is only starting. A 100 days of Nothing. Peace.

Opinion: Bosco’s weird arguments for blocking public gatherings!

Well, its been a while since the President have addressed the public. Maybe, after meeting the diplomats from European Union at the State House of Entebbe. They told the old man with the hat, that he should try to sway public opinion about the acts of the Police Force and Army, which is used as tools to shutdown the Opposition. The President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni trying to defend the acts of the authorities, isn’t surprising, they are doing his bidding. I will not dissect the whole article published today, but just the vital parts in my opinion. Because lots of is his own self-praising, that he does at every opportunity he have. It is just his M.O at this point.

If you want to hold a public meeting (olu kungana) or a procession (ekivulu) for a legitimate reason, you should liaise with the Police, so that your public meeting or your procession does not endanger the lives of other Ugandans or the safety of their property. You agree with the Police on the route, if it involves a procession, or the venue if it is an event or a rally. The problem we have with some elements of the opposition is that they ignore this. They want to hold meetings or processions near markets or through crowded streets. This one we cannot allow” (Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, 05.05.2019).

What is weird about this argument is that he thinks the public is so ignorant and so blind to the activity of the opposition. Especially, the consideration of the applications and notifications of all public rallies, all ones done by the opposition. They have complied, but still the Police Force have blocked it. If it is concerts of Kyarenga Extra of Bobi Wine or any rally in any district by the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). The notification and even the paying the stadiums and town gardens are blocked by the Police Force, even before it is starting. So, we know the state is not allowing the gathering of the FDC or real opposition by all means. Not for safety, but because they challenge Bosco. So, his issues are also backfiring. As the government party and ruling regime are allowed to do processions without any issues or public gathering where-ever it fits, even public markets like the Owino Market in Kampala. So, the President really thinks the public is stupid like his cows.

Therefore, if you want to assemble publically or to procession, it must be for a legitimate reason. If it is to preach hate, to decampaign investments in Uganda etc., then we shall not allow you. Those who have ignored this logic have paid a heavy price” (Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, 05.05.2019).

What is legitimate reasons? Is it stand for your sole candidacy or your causes? Because, anyone else will be shutdown, met with tear-gas and arrests. That is just what happens, if not blocked or house-arrested before entering the paid venue. This is just what is happening, as the Police Force are steady monitoring the acts of the opposition and criminalizing all their activities. Therefore, whatever they do is illegitimate in your eyes and by your authorities. They can never win, they can only loose.

They can notify and negotiate with the Police Force for a rally, a conference and even a concert, but by the ordinary option. The Police will block it or even disperse the crowds before entering the venue. That’s why his assessment is bit far fetched. There are no way the Police Force are accepting rallies, except in a limited window of an election roadmap, but even then the Police can close a rally then.

So anything that his not interfering with the ego of the President and his comrades. The rest have to beg for mercy to legitimate or be like Mama Mabira who kissed the ring. That is just who he his. Also, last part, which needs to be addressed:

However, I also disapprove of the method the Police used to break the glass of Bobi Wine’s car. They should have towed the vehicle to wherever they wanted him to be” (Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, 05.05.2019).

This one is really ironic, because this has been done to plenty of politicians in Uganda. This is not a new tactic of the Police. They have destroyed glass to throw in tear-gas into the vehicle. I know of plenty of times this has been done in the Republic. The Police Force have even towed Besigye across several districts to the closest prison at one point. So, he wanted the same thing when Bobi Wine crossed to property at One Love Beach and drag him to Mukono. Because, that is okay of them without warrants or even charges. This shows his lack of respect of individual freedom, which is only given to Jajja, but not the public in general.

This text shall be a warning, that all opposition is by all practicality illegitimate in the eyes of the President. Not that this is new, he has called by them all names and said he would destroy them. Surely, this sort of defence is showing his intent before the 2021 election. There is nowhere to hide, as they are clearly not spreading the message, the almighty accepts. But, we knew that already. Peace.

South Sudan: Is the R-ARCSS extension only to buy time?

Today, I have to ask this question, because there been so many fault-lines, so many bothering revelations along the way. Since the Khartoum Declaration last year to the R-ARCSS agreement that was supposed to be initiated and finalized by May 12th 2019. However, this is not happening, as the stakeholders, parties and all sorts of functions are keeping pushing it away. If not the TGoNU is currently also paying lobbyist in the United States not to put pressure on them finalizing one piece of it, the Hybrid Court. Alas, there is the mere question from me today. Was it all built on the wrong foundation, on a false pretext and a false hope?

By all means, I wish it isn’t so. Because the Republic of South Sudan. Needs peace, needs diplomatic efforts and need to be rebuilt. This will be painful, as the suffering and time of warlords are in the veins of the current leadership. Where everyone who disagrees starts their own armed rebellion and besiege any given territory, instead of building up a function and institutionalized state. Maybe, the stakeholders wasn’t interested in that, if they were, maybe they wouldn’t have invested so much in guns and training of personnel, right?

This is what it all seems, that the ones steering the ship has been buying time. Establishing networks for trade of resources, to again secure the ability for more prosperous warfare. Because, why the hassle of talk, when you can get rid of the person your supposed to talk too. I know it is sinister, raw and brutal, but for a Republic to have such vast amounts of people in Refugee camps in the neighbour countries, for Protection of Civilians (PoC) sites and Peacekeepers. Surely, they are amass in issues, which needs to be resolved. Not only knit-picking illegal gold smuggling for the heist of the stakeholders at this current day. But the whole system created by the warlords, the ones who used their armies and their rebels. Who are all now nearly together, accept a few chosen groups who isn’t there or saying it is dying already.

I don’t know, but if this seems like buying time. It seems more likely now. That the ones who are getting their spears, their shields and the cash-flow for more possible violence later. Who knows right? But why didn’t the TGoNU work harder with the stakeholders like SPLM/A-IO, SPLM-FD, SSOA or anyone else.

Let me say this again. I hope I am dead wrong, that they are really serious and want to finalize the implementation of the R-ARCSS. Since, it seems like this. The only good is that they are together in Addis Ababa declaring the resolution today, but does it has any value? Or is the asking for money for implementation the key aspect of it all?

Because, the state was together with all parties was supposed to be finished next week, but now has postponed it six more months. This is really a sign to come, unless there are some signals and proofs of implementation, that is showing pure intent. Not just paying Gainful Solutions or anyone to stifle the process. Having illegal deployment of foreign forces in parts of the Republic. Therefore, there is enough warning signs, which isn’t only the lack of will to implement it.

So, lets hope this is not to buy time… not to buy time, but to actually do this correctly. Peace.

World Food Programme (WFP) halts distribution of super cereal while tests continue (03.05.2019)

As suspicion fell on Super Cereal as a possible cause or carrier of contamination, WFP acted swiftly, halting all distributions of the food first in Karamoja and then across Uganda.

ROME, Italy, May 3, 2019 – As a precautionary measure, the World Food Programme (WFP) has temporarily halted distribution worldwide of a fortified blended food from one of its suppliers as tests continue to establish whether it is linked to outbreaks of illness in East Africa.

According to medical centres and hospital records, three people died and 293 were admitted to health centres in the Karamoja region of Northeast Uganda in March and April after eating Super Cereal, distributed by WFP. The product is used by WFP and partners to prevent malnutrition, especially among women and children.

Preliminary investigations have failed to conclusively find what caused the illness. To date, more than 2,400 food-related laboratory tests were conducted – including for mycotoxins, heavy metals, pesticides and microbial contaminants – but the root cause of the problem has not yet been established.

As suspicion fell on Super Cereal as a possible cause or carrier of contamination, WFP acted swiftly, halting all distributions of the food first in Karamoja and then across Uganda. Communications campaigns were launched to urge any people in Karamoja with remaining stocks to return them. These campaigns included using radio messages, focus group discussions, community dialogues and public discussions with elders and community leaders.

On 9 April, WFP halted the distribution globally of all products from the supplier in question. This involved putting on hold Super Cereal stocks in WFP operations in 25 countries.

In a further precautionary move, on 30 April, WFP ordered all stocks of Super Cereal from the same supplier should be secured in WFP warehouses and storage areas belonging to partners. Samples from the stock will continue to be tested to confirm or rule out any of the preliminary conclusions.

This issue is unprecedented in its implications for WFP’s global supply chain as the food supplies on hold around the world amount to over 21,000 metric tons, with an estimated replacement value of US$22 million. WFP has taken extensive preventative action as the health and safety of the people we serve is our foremost concern.

Super Cereal is maize or wheat blended with soya beans, fortified with vitamins and minerals, processed into a flour and supplied in 25-kg bags and is a critical part of WFP’s efforts to prevent malnutrition and save lives.
