It is hard to imagine, but the Member of Parliament since 1989 and Deputy Prime Minister, Rebecca Kadaga isn’t valued or a necessity for the National Resistance Movement. That’s why she lost to the current speaker, Anita Among to become a part of the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC). It speaks volumes that she lost so brutally and in such a fashion.
Kadaga has been main stay and been in the inner-circle of power. She has held massive influence and been a vital support of the party. As an individual she has used her office and her mandates to enforce the will of the President. Not matter what cause and what effect it might have on the Republic. She has done it and diligently done so…
That’s why this week loss of the NRM CEC seat is a telling sign. Kadaga is possibly trying to process what went down and how humiliating this is. As Among took over her spot, not only in Parliament as the speaker, but now in the CEC too. She is the heir to her throne and that must hurt.
Kadaga has done everything in her power to serve and collect. She has ensured questionable legislation through the chambers. As speaker she has pushed the envelope and secured the longevity of the President. There has been no cause that hasn’t been to dire or where she did what the President said she needed to do. Therefore, she never expected to be used and dumped. However, that is the case now.
The long serving loyalist, Kadaga, never thought this day would come. Her time is up and she’s supposed to never retire. She was supposed to retain her office and it was earned. Nevertheless, the President doesn’t seem to care or isn’t concerned. Kadaga did what he needed and now her influence is reduced to nearly nowhere.
That got to sting. For someone who could order soldiers into the chambers of the Parliament and clear out the dissidents of the state. For someone who could try to enforce and enact the first Anti-Gay law. That’s what she’s been doing and she has pushed whatever button the President asked her to do. Therefore, she never anticipated or was mentally prepared for the loss of this week.
Kadaga is greedy, as she is holding plenty of offices and wants to retain the seat in Parliament regardless. That’s why she wanted to keep the office in the CEC too. As she’s used to this and been a natural part of the party in this way. Now she’s being slowly faced out and becoming obsolete. That got to sting…
Certainly, there isn’t anything saying she won’t return to Parliament. That’s something she has managed to do since 1989. However, being an MP is just one part of the bargain. Now that she lost the role in the CEC. We know that’s a sign of what to come. The party and the President aren’t in need of her services. She did her duty and served, now she’s no longer needed. That’s a compelling case and shows that some people can never do enough. There is always a need for more and they can’t think Kadaga can serve as swiftly as she did in the past.
This just shows that someone can show blind loyalty to their master and be ditched the moment they are no longer useful. Kadaga should have seen the writing on the wall. Her heir is in Among and it’s been visible for a long time now. She has taken her place and Kadaga is old news. There is nothing new Kadaga can do or be able to sell.
No, Kadaga has served and now she isn’t useful anymore. That’s just a fact at this point. If she had the power and the prestige, if she had the influence and the sway. She wouldn’t be out in the cold and accept defeat. No, she would be in the CEC and be where she thought she belonged. However, they don’t see the use of her.
That’s why sooner or later, she will lose everything else. The seat in Parliament, the Office in the Cabinet and whatever else that is beneficial for her now. Kadaga is on the way for a forced retirement.
Rebecca Kadaga doesn’t see that herself, but everyone from the outside can. They can see that she is outsmarted and outplayed. She doesn’t have the weaponry or the finesse to pull it off. That’s why the President prefers Among and knows that she will ensure the longevity.
Kadaga didn’t retain the role of speaker and got demoted. Now she got demoted from CEC. We just know the next is in line. Time will tell, but her story isn’t over yet. It will just be painful to watch and that the lady isn’t reflecting on how it looks from outside. For Kadaga this should be embarrassing and she should have bowed out in grace. Instead she got beaten and now has to retool her approach. Because that is necessary and if she doesn’t see that.
Well, her future will be grim and she will lose even more in the public eye. There is a time and place for everything. Right now the time is up for Kadaga and now it the turn for Among. Peace.
