The Democratic Civil Alliance for Revolutionary Forces “Sumoud” condemns the brutal mutual bombardment between the warring parties and its widespread harm to civilians, the primary victims of this savage war. The Alliance strongly denounces the bloody airstrikes by drones affiliated with the armed forces, which targeted civilian sites in multiple areas of Darfur. The most severe of these was the targeting of a social gathering in the Bilbil Tambesko area of South Darfur, resulting in dozens of civilian deaths and injuries. Additionally, a crowded market in the Al-Zarq area, filled with vendors and shoppers, was subjected to a deadly bombardment that claimed civilian lives and caused the destruction of citizens’ property.
We also strongly condemn the devastating airstrikes, drone attacks, and artillery shelling targeting innocent civilians in Al-Fashir and Al-Abyad, as well as the artillery bombardment by the Rapid Support Forces on residential areas and displacement camps. This has led to a significant number of civilian casualties and widespread destruction of vital infrastructure in an area suffering from systematic starvation, in clear violation of international laws and regulations.
The Sumoud Alliance renews its call to all humanitarian, relief, and human rights organizations for immediate and effective intervention to save the victims of the Sudanese wars, which have left thousands dead and injured and displaced millions of innocent civilians, particularly in Al-Fashir, which is enduring both a suffocating siege and relentless fighting.
The Sumoud Alliance demands that both parties to the conflict demonstrate resolve and responsibility, heed the desires of the majority of the Sudanese people for peace, and immediately cease fire to end their raging inferno, which has burned both the green and dry lands of Sudan. The call for peace launched by the Sumoud Alliance remains the way forward, through a comprehensive agreement to stop and end the war, ensuring a ceasefire and a civilian-led political process that determines its issues and parties.
We also demand an urgent international investigation into the mutual accusations regarding the use of internationally prohibited weapons, which represents a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, and the prosecution of potential perpetrators.
