Opinion: When the innocent dies like Ritah … there will be no answers.

The demise of Ritah Nabukenya is another tragic story. As the People Power activist died as she planned to go to the venue of Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Kampala. The Police Force has one story of her crashing on her boda-boda with another boda-boda. While People Power claimed one of their own patrol vehicle knocked the activist down. The last story isn’t new, as this has happen before when convoys of opposition leaders has passed in a metropolitan area. However, the authorities are dismissing that today.

There is also some reports that the Police Vehicle was following her on the motorcycle and stumbled on her twice. Before leaving her. Then, someone else took her from Rubaga division of Kampala to Mulago Hospital where they pronounced her dead. Therefore, it is a tragic affair no matter what.

This is yet another dying in unfortunate circumstances, because the person chooses side politically and plans to be part of political meetings. This is not the first nor the last People Power associate who will go down like this. Because, into campaign season, the dissidents usually get harsh treatment from the authorities. Yet another proof of that today with another innocent civilian taken out.

This time it was Ritah. Tomorrow might be someone else. We will not get the answers nor the verdict on this one. Just like there was never any follow-up on Ziggy Wine either. This is just another citizen dead, who the security agencies didn’t care for. Peace.

Kabendera is free: However two articles published right before [his arrest] shows why he was detained…

Erick Kabendera, the freelance investigative journalists who was arrested on the 30th July 2019. Whose been in jail ever since. First they looked into his citizenship, which was a non-started. Than later he was charged with Money Laundering, tax-evasion and criminal racketeering. That happen later in the year. Since, then he has been detained until 24th February 2020 as he paid a bond of a hefty sum of $125k US Dollars.

Before his kidnap, arrest and detaining of him. He had written two big articles questioning the CCM and President Magufuli. Both of these articles was in The East African. Like on the 6th July 2019 ‘Electoral body now moves to seal the fate of Lissu’ writes this:

But, irrespective of the outcome of his push for his reinstatement, political pundits say Mr Lissu’s return to the country will likely currently limping from the effects of a campaign to close all political space and shut all avenues for anyone to mount a credible challenge against President Magufuli for the presidency next year” (Erick Kabendera, 06.07.2019).

Later in the month before his arrest, this was co-written with Christopher Kidanka in The East African, which is titled ‘Could Tanzania’s Magufuli second term bid face opposition?’ on the 20th July 2019. Where he states this:

Former CCM secretaries-general Abrahman Kinana and Yusuf Makamba last week issued a letter alleging a plot by powerful people in government seeking to frame former CCM and government leaders for treason. The letter has attracted counteraccusations from President Magufuli’s loyalists who stand by their claims. The president’s supporters accuse former party leaders, including the authors of the letter, of ganging up to undermine the party and go against its tradition of allowing two terms in office for the presidency.” (Kabendera & Kidanka, 20.07.2019).

Clearly, these sort of reporting is humiliating to the President Magufuli whose expected to be praised to stars, the moons and the above the skyline. The CCM is supposed to be unison and follow the President blindly. That’s why Kabendera’s articles are earth shattering. Because, this is the sort of written scoops, President Magufuli doesn’t want to have out.

He wants headlines of brilliance, greatness and be the glorified bulldozer. The man who makes changes, big-business and generate wealth for the United Republic. He doesn’t want to look foolish, ignorant or stupid. Neither does he want any dissent in the CCM party. That is why these two articles are a reminder of what Magufuli hates and had to make-up charges to get Kabendera behind bars. Peace.

An Election out of the Dictators Handbook: The 72% win for Gnassingbe

Faure Gnassingbe won the election on the 22nd February 2020. So, his scheduled for his fourth term after rigging an referendum to give him the ability to reign the Republic of Togo until 2030. That means the President, the son of the former President plans to keep the family enterprise running till then. This means the Gnassingbe family have run the Republic since April 1967 after a successful coup d’etat in January 1967.

This means with the current state, the rigged election, the arrest of main opposition candidate, the social media blockade, the jamming of telephone-line and so-on. It was not Gnassingbe left anything to chance. The Togolaise was supposed to vote for him and support him after 15 years in power. While he is continuing to himself more years.

This is already a family regime lasting for 53 years and plans to last another ten years. The elections in between is only measures made to legitimize the reign. The 72 % polls this year is just a reconfigured number, to not sound to dictatorial, but still significant victory to seem sincere. Which it isn’t, because the opposition has suffered, civil society silenced and plenty of folks in exile.

Gnassingbe haven’t delivered anything in 15 years. Neither has his father. The French support of the regime gives it a life-line. Faure knows this and his army could join the CENI to push his victory to the public. Not like the observers nor anyone else could question him. The rigged numbers, the ballots not counted and the clear violation of the free will. Is the reason why Gnassingbe win.

We knew this result before the polls and even after. If someone else would have won… that would have been shocking. Especially, if an appointed CENI and authorities would have given way. That the voice of the people would be listen too. Instead, they are forced to eat Gnassingbe and his clientele.

The Togolese Republic deserve better, even if Faure believes in his family empire. If Faure believes his the sole proprietor and supreme overlord of the Republic. Because that is how it seems. The way the state silence opposition, the way they treat the public space and take total control. That is why the opposition leader was under house-arrest. While WhatsApp and other social media was blocked during the polls.

This is how you stay in power, but not you respect the public. He says he doesn’t feel like a dictator himself. However, this is how a dictator wins an election. Gnassingbe not want to hear that, but this month he played from the Dictators Handbook. We knew the drill and he played along. Peace.

Opinion: Bobi Wine will never meet all the requirements [to hold rallies or consultations]

Police have said Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine has not fulfilled all conditions to allow him consult voters about his presidential aspirations” (MAMA Bukedea FM, 24.02.2020).

Today, the Police Force have blocked his second round of Presidential Consultations, which the Presidential Aspirant have notified the authorities with earlier in the month. So, it was anticipated that the Police Force would block it. Which they have done and now seeing his not meeting all their condition.

I am sure they have to measure his dick-size, his voice-over on the microphones and possible if he has a fitted suit for the occasion. Because, there are just add-ons and add-ons, which seems to be taken out of nowhere. Like, I am sure they have to have a Presidential Envoy with a doctor, nurse, secretary and moving toilet like His Excellency. Maybe then the Presidential Aspirant is allowed to hold consultation meetings.

It is hard to take the authorities serious, when other candidates doesn’t get this treatment. Neither, does they ever do this to any National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate out there. Even when its months ahead of any Election Road Map from the Electoral Commission. Therefore, this is selective judgment.

Surely, Bobi Wine can forget to follow the rules, because the goal-post switches every day. Soon he has to beg CP Fred Enaga and IGP Okoth-Ochola to be allowed to meet people. It doesn’t matter if his allowed in the Constitution, neither if he has notified the authorities. There will always be an excuse. There is not toilets, there is not space for sniffer-dogs or whales to swim.

This is just targeted the big opposition leader, whose trying to collect people around him and also make his manifesto or campaign material with consultation. Mugisha Muntu, DP folks and others can do what they feel (except for the FDC( People’s Government affiliates). While People Power Movement and Bobi Wine cannot even stumble anywhere without tear-gear, havoc and blocked venues.

It is impossible for Bobi Wine to meet all the requirements of the state to hold public meetings nor consultations. Because, there is no will to allow him. They will find something or make something wrong. He just have to fart on Nile Avenue and the Black Mambas will show-up out of nowhere. That is just the way it is. Because, the state is willingly to do so. Not that its fair, justified or legally right. It is just misusing laws for their favour and not righteous at all.

The President and his “Yes Men” might grab their balls, grin and laugh at the State House. However, they are sore losers who cannot compete. They got to hold a tight grip of the state and lack tolerance for other views than the one vision of the “high above”. The President, if he thinks this is winning formula. His wrong, he might win with it, but he looks like dumb-fuck who only is savvy of oppressing dissidents, not speaking a sincere word out of his mouth.

What value does your liberation of 1986 have? When a fellow born in 1982 cannot even go outside his house or even try to campaign. What value does your 1995 constitution have when only one person can do stuff and the rest of the citizens have to beg to do so?

That is what we can ask now. Since the state doesn’t care. The Police Force is more online of political dissidents, than murderous gangs, hoodlums or actual criminals. They are more sophisticated in blocking public meetings, than catching thieves. Which should be there job. So, kudos to the President for his years of mismanagement. Peace.

South Sudan: National Democratic Movement (NDM) – Press Statement (23.02.2020)

Opinion: Ruto better stop his own reggae

If this story we are being told about ‘Nobody Can Stop Reggae’ is what we are seeing; the ethnicity that is being preached in BBI rallies and the ethnic profiling of communities, and the hate and campaign of one community against the other. If that is the Reggae they are talking about, my friend Reggae shall stop. We shall stop it,” – William Ruto on the 22nd February 2020 at the Full Gospel Gatunduri Church in Embu

Before I continue, let me go biblical on the man of supposed wisdom. A man who used his career. Called a kingpin and a hustler. Whose now the Deputy President, whose been seen as Presidential Aspirant for over a decade and is fishing for the next election. I need to drop a few words of wisdom form the bible. Before dropping a few small snippets of his past. Because, when he calls out the BBI Rallies. His not the figure to do so. I know his hurt the TangaTanga doesn’t have a part in it. But this is just insincere from the man.

How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye” (Luke 6:42, New International Version).

I am using the biblical reference for a reason, because there is little shown signs of hate speech or use of community against community. Something that Ruto was well aware of in the 2007 elections. However, he acts a fool now and tries to put that blame on others. Knowing well how that worked in the past.

His been considered the man in-charge of ODM “Pentagon” during the riots and demonstrations in the election cycle of 2007-08. Where his actions, coordination and everything sparked more violence and such. Not like he would state that at one point as he said this: “We are going to go on until Kibaki is gone,” said opposition politician William Ruto on Wednesday. “We are ready to die”. When addressing things like that. You can see, he got it in him if needed be. He can send out warnings, but it seems for a selfish act, than sincere care.

From 2007:

Hon William Ruto MP, Eldoret North Constituency, Minister Planning, incitement, and financing the violence. In August 2007 he held a meeting with other senior ODM leaders in Kipkelion near Kericho including Sotik MP the late Lorna Laboso , the late Kipkalia K. Kones (Bomet), Kiprono L. J. Magerer (Kipkelion) , and Franklin Bett (Bureti) where the leaders resolved to carry out mass evictions of non Kalenjins from ‘their’ Rift Valley areas, particularly the Kikuyu and Abagusii. During an opening ceremony for the Seventh Day Adventist Church in a place called Mailing, he is alleged to have said that they would uproot the “sangari”, ‘shake off the soil’, ‘gather it together’ and ‘burn it’, in reference to ‘outsider’ communities”.

Therefore, he should look into himself and his own history before putting blame on the BBI. The BBI is something I don’t believe in, but that is whole another reasons than Ruto. He is just using this ploy, because his not apart of it. He is on the outside looking in, which is funny considering his the second in command. While his former party leader Raila Odinga has more of a key role in that.

Clearly, that hurts his pride. However, he cannot stop the Reggae, but he could participate. Instead of being so condensing. Which he does with spite, because that is what he has. Ruto should take it easy. He should chill out, maybe pray for his old sins before casting a stone. Even try take away his own plank in his eye.

But don’t anticipate that. The hustler doesn’t envision any soul searching. Only a twisted mind-frame for his own selfish cause. Peace.
