Opinion: Association with People Power is now grounds to get you arrested…

That is how it seems these days. Twenty coordinators of the People Power Movement gotten arrested in Jinja and currently detained in Nalufenya Prison. Several singers has been arrested too. There is even reports of an ambulance donated by the MP aspirant for People Power in Rugaba Division in Kampala has been impounded, because of the association with People Power. That is how crazy and stupid things are.

People are arrested for their association and their support of the Pressure Group and Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. Yesterday, there was report of singer Bobi Young arrested. Just a few days ago, Matilda Powers was detained for releasing her song and video in support of Bobi Wine and People Power. Clearly, they are a target and easily taken into custody without any warrants or charges against them. It is all about association and nothing else.

Also, yesterday, another coordinator of People Power, the Acholi sub-region Olanya Olenge Tony was arrested too. He was arrested in Gulu by the authorities.

Therefore, it is example after example of dispensation to target these individuals, who are activists, civilians, who decides to work for People Power. They are a fair game, they are the ones your allowed to take down and enjoy the spoils. Because, there is no common sense, except the sense, that commoners like these are jailbirds because of which banner they carry.

That is it really. There is no golden middle-ground or prophetic imaginary, which explains this. It is clear as day. Only one reason. Only one reason only. That is, they are associated and working for Bobi Wine, therefore, they got to be threaten, intimidated and become criminals. Since, they dare to work someone else than the President and his party. They can be picked up for no reason and detained. They can be produced to the courts and sentenced, because they dare to insult the “High above”. Which they shouldn’t even dare to do in the first place.

However, if you do in the Republic. Expect to be picked up by an officer and shown to some sort of prison. That will happen eventually, rather if you like it or not. That is just how it is these days. This is the vindictiveness and the ruthlessness of this state. If your in good favours of the King, you will be spoilt and get the perks. But, if your on the other side, you will be in trouble, you will suffer and its just a matter of time. Peace.

South Sudan: Hundreds wounded, villages looted in intercommunal fighting in Jonglei State (04.03.2020)

The ICRC supported the South Sudan Red Cross to deliver essential items to dozens of families who fled the fighting and found refuge in Anyidi.

JUBA, South Sudan, March 4, 2020 – Hundreds of people have been wounded, families forced to flee their homes, and villages looted amidst intercommunal clashes that erupted mid-February in Jonglei State. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has evacuated dozens of injured people for surgical care and calls on those engaged in the clashes to respect human life and the principles of humanity. The ICRC treated nearly 70 people suffering from gunshot wounds over the past two weeks, as fighting broke out between thousands of armed men in several parts of Jonglei State.

“It is the first time we are forced to mobilize all three surgical units we run in the country for one series of related incidents,” said Katja Lorenz, ICRC’s deputy head of delegation in South Sudan. “We have received hundreds of requests for medical evacuations and we are struggling to meet the needs.”

In Akobo, Ganyliel, and Juba, ICRC surgical teams have treated dozens of patients with gunshot injuries from different communities involved in the fighting. “We were able to evacuate the injured only when we had the guarantees from all communities that our team and aircraft would not be targeted,” added Lorenz. “We can’t land and transport the wounded if people are shooting in the area.”

This violence also forced hundreds of families to flee their homes in various parts of Jonglei State. “I don’t know if my wives and children are still alive,” said Jion Angabal Arut, a 50-year-old man from Manyabol. “My livestock was taken, the house burnt down. How can I start over again?”

The ICRC supported the South Sudan Red Cross to deliver essential items to dozens of families who fled the fighting and found refuge in Anyidi.

These clashes come as a new unity government was formed, an important milestone in the country’s peace process. However, violence between communities, driven by competition over resources and fueled by easy access to guns, continues.

Other parts of the country are also affected by high levels of violence. Between November 2019 and February 2020, clashes between different communities close to Rumbek in central South Sudan killed more than 250 people and injured over 300.

“In 2019, we treated 769 persons with gunshot wounds, 111 more than the year before. We are worried that 2020 could follow the same trend, deepening the suffering of families who are already struggling to recover from years of war,” concluded Lorenz.

Lt. Gen. Tumukunde: Another NRM big-man aiming at the throne

Today, Lieutenant General Henry Tumukunde has unleashed his will and determination to stand as a Presidential aspirant in the upcoming election of 2021. This is not new that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) have some big-men falling out. However, they have usually gotten back into the fold and gotten new chairs to fill..

Lt. Gen. Tumukunde is a long-term NRA/M, who has served in various of positions and held a high regard in the circles around the President. He has failed, gotten sacked and gotten into trouble. However, always had the ability to return and get in the good graces. In May 2018 with his latest role was being the Minister of Security. Also, we know something is up, when the aide to Tumukunde is releasing the information of him loosing military guards at his house in Kololo. That happened about a week ahead of the letter to the Electoral Commission on the 28th February 2020.

With regards to this, I’m not fooled. There been plenty of decoys in the past too. Even NRA historical of John Nagenda have been critical of the President, but still in good graces in the end. Surely, Tumukunde following a long line of Presidential candidates, who in the end looking for a new avenue for work after the elections. We are even seeing Amama Mbabazi returning to Museveni and getting closer like kin. Surely, Tumukunde wants those perks too.

In 2011, the former Local Government Minister Jaberi Bidandi Ssali was a Presidential Candidate as an opposition candidate. His the father of Bebe Cool, so we know that the NRM loyalties aren’t far from each other. Even as Ssali was known for talking against Museveni for never retiring, still he wasn’t anything the President feared in the polls. He was a former Minister who wouldn’t dare to insult his former master.

In 2015, there was two former high ranking NRM leaders who suddenly stood as Independents. This being Gilbert Bukenya and Amama Mbabazi. Both of these we’re high ranking officials. Bukenya went straight independent and even tried to swing the The Democratic Alliance (TDA) his way. Mbabazi tried to get a position in the Primaries in 2015. However, that is not how the game in the NRM works. That is why Mbabazi was clipped of his wings, both as the Secretary General of the NRM and also of his powerful role as the Prime Minister.

Now, Tumukunde is doing the same, as Ssali, Bukenya and Mbabazi has done. Some says its daring and inspiring. Some says its special for these men to aim at the king. Well, there is no succession and no parts to play internally. So, they got to be loose canons to ever try. However, these gentlemen knows that the President rigs and they will never achieve the goal. It is a battle they are bound to loose.

So, why do it? Is it to get the attention and possible be a part of the NRM NEC or something? Do they want a perky position and get back in the good graces? Is that it all?

Does Tumukunde want the cool headlines, that he visited the President at his farm? Is that all he wants out of life?

We all know, he has no shot to win. There is no winning in this, unless he wants to become the next Beti Kamya or something. If he wants a minor role in a mushrooming cabinet after 2021 elections. To be paid-off handsomely…

Well, this is not a drill, but is a curiosity. It will be bloody, it will be tested and he will be in trouble. However, in the end, he will kiss the ring and go back to his master. That is what they do.

Lt. Gen. will need to eat after 2021. He will return, it is just a matter of time and what he is on the menu. Peace.

Opinion: Mabirizi got over 54 % chances of losing in the up-coming election!

“I will win with 54 percent. We have coordinators in every region and if you don’t agree with that, go in every region and ask for them You will find them there putting in the work,”Elton Joseph Mabirizi (Jonah Kirabo – ‘I will win the upcoming elections with 54 percent, claims Mabirizi’ 03.03.2020).

Mabirizi is returning, the second time Presidential Candidate, the one who ran on The Independent Coalition (TIC) together with Maureen Faith Kyala Waluube in the General Election of 2016. A candidate that scored 0,25% and got about 24,000 votes. Not like, he was even challenging Abed Bwanika with 89,000 and Amama Mbabazi with 136,000 votes.

Secondly, not like Mabirizi has been relevant since the end of the last election cycle. Neither has his independent TIC done anything. He is a briefcase politician and he doesn’t even have a pressure group nor a party behind him.

Elton John better start sing some songs, because the tune of a requiem for his candidacy should soon be written, because he got no message nor structure to unleash on the public. His the poster child of empty and funny rhetoric. A man with too much courage and to little framework to prove it.

If he was trying to become an MP or a local representative in Mpigi district or something. His doesn’t have the popularity nor any message to convene, which would matter on the national stage. Unless, he wants to make himself a fool for the public again. He can be the jester and the fool, but he should be careful to mock the Kings too much.

This man will not win at 54 %, nobody else than Museveni will win this election. Everyone else is just pawns … They are just people ready to get rigged and loose. The former TIC candidate, the Presidential Candidate Mabirizi will be a punchline.

He is acting like a punchline and if he doesn’t’ see it himself. The whole world is seeing it from afar. Mabirizi is out of whack, but that is maybe just who he is. It is healthy to have some ambition and goals in life, but at this stage. Mabirizi had better stick to a small crowd and a more feasible office. Since, the Presidency and the higher office isn’t for him. Unless, it is made for fools and jokers. Then he is fitting the bill. Peace.
