Opinion: MPs to ditch the popular vote so they can elect the next President!

“The Uganda government is proposing a change in the Constitution to abolish the popular presidential elections by the public, so that the president is being elected by the Members of Parliament. The move is being spearheaded by the Deputy Attorney General Jackson Kafuuzi under the Constitutional Review Commission. In an audio from CBS radio station, Kafuuzi is quoted saying the government is already mobilizing money to fund the Constitution Review Commission’s nationwide tours” (Eagle Online – ‘MPs to elect President in 2026 under proposed reforms’ 06.01.2022).

Members of Parliament and within the National Resistance Movement is this term floating the idea of the selected President. Meaning the general public will have no direct say in it. As the Parliament and the majority of the Parliament will elect the President. This is clearly indicated and only matters of the President.

The MPs themselves are not selected and elected through the popular vote in their constituencies, while the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief is elected by them. That is how to destroy any belief in any sort of democratic values whatsoever. As the President will be an unelected technocrat, who is hand-picked by the National Assembly. That is really it.

So, it wasn’t enough to defiantly stand against the Multi-Party System, to abolish the term limits and age limits. No, the same President and his party has amended the constitution again. Since, the President knows he cannot lie or can fool the general public anymore. He knows his not beloved or honoured. His convoys are bigger than his gatherings, unless his paying and ferrying poor people promising food and tokens of appreciation. Therefore, this man is just doing what he can to be re-elected.

This is disingenuous and disrespectful to the general public, as they can and will elect one person on their own merit. They are totally disregarding the universal suffrage and the popular vote by doing this. If they start with him and his office. What about the rest of them? What else will be appointed and selected? Will it be MPs themselves and such?

Since, they are opening one door and clearly there is more to come. That’s why with every single other amendment and changes to the law. It is having opened questions of term limits for others or not. The same with retirement of judges and other presidential appointees. As their age doesn’t matter when the head of state can be of advanced age himself.

Everyone should have seen the writing on the wall, as the President didn’t want to hold elections before after being a decade into power. Secondly, he had to pushed through two referendums to return to multi-party democracy. And after all of that… he has revised the term limits and age limits, as it concerned his longevity in power. Now, he got to do it again, because he knows he cannot fool the popular vote or rig without scrutiny as he used too.

That’s why this is happening, and they are also doing this to appease the “Muhoozi Project” and possibly select him as the successor without any prior election. Since, the new amendment and constitutional stipulation allows that. While I still wonder how they will trick the law or the birthplace of Muhoozi. That cannot be revised, unless they allow it somehow.

This is another edition and now Magyezi will be off the hook. Since, it is the next crooks who dismantles the 1995 Constitution, brick by brick. While we are watching and sighing from a distance.  Peace.

Opinion: Orikunda’s Hero is a Zero

Today in the Nile Post, Sam Evidence Orikunda got a piece published called ‘Why President Museveni is my hero of 2021’. These sort of article and think pieces must be written by people who is seeking a higher office or wants to be loyal token soldiers to the President. Because, these sorts of texts doesn’t have the composure or the arguments to back it all up.

It isn’t strange if Orikunda wants a better job, as his currently a Deputy Residential District Commander and that’s an unforgiving office in a district in the republic. As he needs something more to aim for and more fulfilling. I don’t blame Sam for that. This is maybe the reason for the praising of the President. In the hopes that the State House and some of the cronies in the entourage of the President will recognize him. That’s how it looks…

Just read this: “Though some people had predicted doom to befall against our country but they forgot that we had an experienced leader in state house” (Orikunda, 03.01.2022). Nobody with a sincere heart wants doom to befall on anyone or a Republic. However, what people have wanted is to change the leadership and have a peaceful transfer of power. Yes, that will be doom on the current regime and it’s leaders, but the troubles wouldn’t necessary trickle down on the republic. Only the elite and the current cronies who is eating of the plate of the experienced leader in the State House.

He continues: “After completion of the electoral process, the Electoral Commission in accordance with the law, declared President Yoweri Museveni as the winner of the elections and that was the best gift for us since as the movement we believe in the politics of continuity and ideology. The EC and the judiciary conducted the much anticipated swearing in and we have since then focused on service delivery and keeping the country safe for the citizens to work and develop themselves” (Orikunda, 03.01.2021).

Sometimes I wonder, if Museveni and the yellow leaders are able to cast spells or potions on their inner-circle, because this sort of reasoning boggles my mind. Like did the Deputy RDC even see how the elections was orchestrated? Didn’t he see the misuse of power, authorities and total deprecating results that came out of it?

It is like his living in another universe and didn’t see the open rigging. Didn’t catch the misuse of law-enforcement and the total disregard of the will of the people. Where there was no choice and the majority was prepared yet again for the National Resistance Movement (NRM). It is outrageous how quickly we are supposed to forget the arbitrary arrests, extra-judicial killings and misuse of power to get political gains. That’s what’s really frightening and how easily a crony is glossing over everything.

While also acting like it was a continuity and ideology that was the reason for the victory. When we know damn well that it was the guns and glamour. Not the policies or the pledges, manifesto or anything of that sort. Neither was the courts following due process and the Electoral Commission worked on command from “high above”. Therefore, the Deputy RDC lives in an alternative reality, which I cannot recognize.

He continues: “During the campaigns, the opposition went to people and said that the NRM was taking advantage of the lockdown to campaign for themselves and harass the opposition” (Orikunda, 03.01.2021).

The NRM and the President did. There was several of districts and candidates that could mobilize or travel to districts, as RDCs and others blocked them. Heck, authorities barricaded hotels and made it impossible for Bobi Wine to travel into districts. Which never happened to Museveni. He was allowed everywhere and there was never an issue in concern to COVID-19 when the Yellow brigade came to a town near you. The Coronavirus was only a problem when the opposition like Bobi Wine or Partick Oboi Amuriat was near you.

He continues: “Some couldn’t even allow a meeting of five people to take place, however our less caring opposition leaders wanted to go ahead and do rallies so that Ugandans get infected which is inhuman, the president had earlier said that anybody who mobilises crowds in the days of the pandemic is intentionally committing murder. Those who understood remained home, followed campaigns on television and when the voting day reached they voted candidates of their choice” (Orikunda, 03.01.2021).

Here he shows the point again. There is no proof of this and data suggesting this. Yes, COVID-19 and the coronavirus is spreading in public gatherings. However, there is no proof that the opposition spread it or made dangerous mass gatherings. There is no evidence that can be associated with that. Neither is there any relief, as the NRM held massive rallies and primaries with voting in lines, which is gatherings of sorts. Which is as bad as the spontaneous and planned outdoor stadium rallies, which the state blocked from the opposition due to COVID. So, the writer is coming with baseless allegations. While we know the blocking was intentional, as the NRM Primaries had bigger rallies and gatherings than the opposition was allowed to months after. Just to be real.

Secondly, the murder committed was by the authorities and the law-enforcement, which actually killed, abducted and arbitrary arrested opposition candidates, activists and polling agents for that matter. They are the ones that killed and took life. Heck, the authorities even killed civilians in the November Massacre in Kampala. There was murders on the campaign trail in Masaka. There was so many times people died and countless unsolved murders, which implicates state involvement. Therefore, the writer and Deputy RDC should be concerned about that. Not only implicating the opposition with unsubstantiated claims, which he has done recklessly.

The last piece here is really outrageous, as we know the television and radio was functioning fine for the NRM and the Yellow candidates. However, the opposition or independents barely had airtime. The RDCs and others blocked the opposition from local-radio shows and others during the campaign. So, it is not like the home-sitters could get a broad perspective from linear-based media. No, that was all Museven and all NRM with a dose of opposition, now and then.

He continues: “Even in the scaring days of the pandemic the government under the Stewardship of President has come up with new programs of getting Ugandans out of poverty, the NRM principal of social economic transformation will be realised. The Parish Model program which is coming soon with the pre -activities already done in several districts will see a number of focused Ugandans get out of poverty and create incomes for themselves and their families. The mentality of substance agriculture will soon end so that we can have food and also earn some Income. This among many were the promises of the Movement in the recent campaigns” (Orikunda, 03.01.2022).

This is selling the same schemes as it has done since the early 1990s and hoping for different result. The promise of wealth and middle-income country is something Museveni have done endlessly. However, his cows are drinking cleaner water than many citizens. That’s because the citizens isn’t his priority. The Emyooga, the Parish Model, the Operation Wealth Creation and such are just schemes to enrich the leaders and the ones in near proximity of the President. These things will fizzle out and become redundant. Since, there will be lack of results and Gen. Salim Selah needs a new hustle and new reason to live lavish in semi-luxurious hotel in Northern Uganda.

The NRM has promised the change of the economy and such since forever. Just as long as Museveni has been in office. Therefore, I don’t trust him a second. That he will bring changes to that in 2021. Not when he haven’t achieved it in the early 1990s or 2000s. This man has decade and tried every trick in book. So, he clearly don’t mind not to resolve it. If it had been dear to his heart and his pockets. It would have been in order like his farms or like the State House.

He ends with: “President Museveni has made tremendous achievements in 2021 and I think he is the hero of the year” (Orikunda, 03.01.2021).

I do not see the tremendous achievements, neither any positive results or signals. The debt-recycling, the deficits created by this government, the lack of revenue and the current huge patronage will only create more issues ahead. As the pay-roll, the massive local government budgets and the expenditure, which the state cannot carry. Plus the likes of the Deputy RDC who hasn’t a vital or important role. As there are many conflicting offices in each district competing to be relevant. Therefore, this state isn’t growing, but deteriorating. Make bills it cannot pay and the next generation is billed for it.

I don’t see how it did a good job or even achieved anything new. The Nile Bridge was fine, but that’s only one piece of infrastructure and they had to fix the gravel or bitumen on it twice. Nothing is done correctly at once. Just like not keeping Presidential Decrees and paying medical interns on time. Because, that’s how a hero is governing I suppose. While keeping dissidents incommunicado and not producing them in court in time. Since, that is modus operandi in the Republic, as we speak.

I cannot understand how he got to this and how he could write this piece a clear conscience. Is it that easy to lie and deceive when your part of the government? Is that how you get ahead in the NRM these days?

Because, if so… then it makes some sense. Even though that is sad and depressing. Peace.

Somalia: Ministry of Internal Security – Press Statement (01.01.2021)

Opinion: The NASA Co-Principals needs to find a new home [and quickly]

After recent interviews and public appearances from Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi. Everything is clear that the trio of Co-Principals supporting Raila Odinga for President in recent elections needs to secure their tickets and their futures. That includes also the not aforementioned Moses Wetan’gula.

Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetan’gula needs to find their home ahead of the 2022 polls. Yes, the One Kenya Alliance is there, but will it stick or even tick? The biggest challenge is to bet on the “right” horse and place itself in a front position. As the stakes are high and they can fall total flat, if they bet on the wrong one. Secondly, NASA Co-Principals have been left flat and behind after the handshake. They have needed to fight for themselves and haven’t gotten any or few favours.

Kalonzo got a title and an office. However, the others have been lost in the wind. This is why the choice between Deputy President William Ruto or Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga is evident. The ones who believe otherwise is naive. These gentlemen needs a home and OKA is only temporary relief. Since, Gideon Moi and KANU will not sway voters in such a fashion and neither will any of the others do. They need a vehicle … and someone who can bring them the opportunities.

We all can wonder if the former CORD/NASA Co-Principals will join Odinga for a third time. Even as his chances are better than ever, as his the vouched for and supported by the outgoing President. Odinga isn’t an opposition candidate, but seems like the one the Jubilee will stand behind. As Ruto who is the DP has become the opposition candidate from within. You cannot make this up, but that is the situation. This is why it’s tricky for OKA leaders to find a great home.

Because, will they risk it all and be sidekicks to Odinga again? Or will they take a bargain and join Ruto? If these stands alone or fights over the opportunity with OKA … we know they will fall flat and it will be a hopeless expedition. This is why people are switching allegiances between Odinga and Ruto. Not like leaders and public officials are joining behind any of the OKA leaders at this current stage.

That’s why the bid of Presidency and who they are joining is what the vital here. There might come some “third” party candidate or independent ones. However, these will have to breach into the Githeri media and become more relevant. Not like I think the United Political Front (UPF) comprising of United Green Movement (UGM), the Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) and Ukweli Party (UP) will become an opposition movement to revolutionize politics in Kenya anytime soon. Though the ideals and possible changes it could bring. Hopefully on some levels start to question the establishment and the ones in power. Nevertheless, the Co-Principals and their brief-case parties has to decide the next step ahead. Not like FORD-Kenya, Wiper Democratic Movement or Amani National Congress have the uniqueness or national party approach of yet. That’s why they need to be aligned with a bigger man and someone with a political apparatus behind it.

Kalonzo might boost his words and act like his time is up. Mudavadi might play the field and God knows what Wetan’gula is up too these days. However, all of them together with Moi needs to find shelter and a political formation to get an ability to be relevant in the next government. Because, right now… they are just on a fishing expedition and trying to sound like they have it all covered.

When we know perfectly well… that they are just seeking and applying pressure. Hoping to get the position and the best place for the future. These gentlemen have to make decisions and if they go without a backer. These will flat and get results that will shatter their egos. That is without a doubt… Peace.

A look into the tragic-comedy called Museveni’s 2021 New Years Address

The tragic-comedy in the affair had 3 elements. Element no.1, for NUP and their media supporters, including the foreign ones, there was no Uganda but Kayunga. Kayunga, Kayunga, Kayunga!!” (Museveni, 31.12.2021).

Let us all be clear that President Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni has addressed the nation yet again. I will not look into the whole speech or the New Years Address of 2021. No, someone who can fact-check and look into his wordings can have a field-day. Because, just browsing through it all. There is enough meat on the bone to keep printing alive for another decade, but alas, I will only focus on the ending of the matter. As I knew he would insult our intelligence and wisdom with his uttering, as he has no issues doing so at a rampant pace.

With that in mind… Museveni has be like that… and it just his mannerisms at this point. That’s why I only bother with a snippet of his address, because looking into more is a waste of my time. Even as I have hours waiting for the new years eve to even pop-off and see the fireworks. However, here we are and let’s go…

The second element was our young people in the persons of Nakwedde, Zaake, etc., putting it in their heads that they would not allow the old man with a hat, Ssabalwanyi, to peacefully drive from Kampala and address the NRM leaders at Kayonza Church of Uganda Primary School in Bbale and at Busaana Sub-county play-ground. Of course the Police could not allow that. Hence, there were some skirmishes. This is exactly what NUP did in the General Elections in some areas and what they were planning to do in the whole country if we had not deployed a considerable portion of the UPDF to crush that conspiracy. The idea is to create fear so that the massive supporters of the NRM do not come out to vote. You remember Arua where they even stoned my car and Bobi Wine was driving a grader (tinga tinga) into my convoy. This is self-deception. It cannot work in Uganda. I have given, in writing, guidelines to the Armed Forces to firmly and professionally ensure law and order and discipline in our society. I hereby direct our Media Unit to publicize these guidelines so that the Public is also informed and can knowledgeably audit the actions of the security forces and inform us, if there are departures. Moreover, these guidelines are in line with the Standing Orders of the Police Forces, both here and in many countries” (Museveni, 31.12.2021).

Here there are many things to look into, as the President is glazing over and trying to manufacture lies. That is something he has used his whole career doing. So, at this very point of time that is all he does…

First he blames the youth and leaders who stem from youth activism as Nakwedde and Zaake. These are opposition leaders who has roots in youth activism and that’s why they are targeted by the regime. I didn’t know that brutally arresting MPs is part of standing orders in many countries… wonder why he didn’t bother to mention a few? Secondly, he is glossing over the election violence perpetuated by the standing orders of the police, the use of drones and abductions of opposition leaders, activists and civilians in general. These are things that doesn’t matter to the President. That is very clear.

As he again goes back to the stone and the perfectly shattered window after Arua by-election. Where he and his troops tried to use forged evidence to pin Bobi Wine and his team who held rallies in the region ahead of the By-Election. That is very clear, as he knows there been several of arrests in connection with the Arua-Stone, but only one old man was taken into custody in the end. However, he uses this propaganda moment as a tool for suppression of the opposition to this day.

We know that his troops, police and security agencies has killed during the campaigns, in the November 2020 massacre and in safe-houses. As well, as using violence to incite fear into the ones that dissent and goes against his rule. That’s why boxers, musicians and Muslim Clerics has been targeted of late, because that is a reality the President doesn’t mention. Since these lives was only taken to silent people who was in his way and that the government suddenly feared one reason or another.

The third element of tragic-comedy were the protestations by NUP that Muwonge of NRM had won by cheating. I did not know that NRM actors had enough energy to cheat because most of the time they are asleep and allow the opposition to intimidate people, cheat, etc. Why only cheat in Kayunga? Why not in the few other areas where NUP won? Kayunga, Buganda and the whole of Uganda are, politically, NRM territory. Why? It is because the NRM has done more for those areas than anybody else, the internal weaknesses within NRM, notwithstanding. We are handling the internal weaknesses, including corruption. The opportunistic opposition will be wiped out. Those concerned with ballot stuffing, etc., why do they never support my plan for only electronic voting with thumb-prints? It is the opposition and their collaborators, that always avoid voting electronically. We should amend the law to stop all non-electronic voting. That is what democrats should be demanding” (Museveni, 31.12.2021).

We know that Museveni have to play like a victim and the NRM is the victim of things. Even when there is no reason for it. Like when he calls it tragicomedy for the NUP to say Muwonge cheated. That is easily to state when there was reports, declaration forms and evidence of the NUP victory. Not the results announced, but what the paperwork said. So, when the President calls it comedy. It is sad that the President uses so much energy on a rigged election by-election. However, he still has to lie about Arua By-Election in the end of 2021. So, that says enough really…

As I continue… the President will always say the NRM has done so much. At one point he did achieve things and deserved credit for it. However, with time that has dwindled and it isn’t what it was. The President haven’t made the Baganda or the Central Region great. Neither has he invested or ensured relevance there. That can be said about a lot of regions and districts in the Republic. As the Western Uganda and Ankole would feel more blessed, than elsewhere with fancy hospitals and roads. Just like the appointees from the region too over the year.

Museveni also suddenly wants all to be electronic voting. When it’s just a hot-minute ago he wanted all voting to be happening in lines. We are supposed to forget that? The President wants the ability to electronically rig the elections and the thumb-prints will not resolve the ability to trick the algorithms, which he needs to ensure a victory. He claims the opposition is against this and that’s with reason. However, if he wants the electronic voting means the President cannot order a media-blackout or internet blockade, which he has done in the recent elections. Would the President dare to do that and show the sinister actions of his regime during the campaigns and during the polls… So, if he want to unleash everyone to see and be able to leak information, because he wants electronic finger-prints. Do I believe that would stop the rigging? No, because there is magical ways of tricking algorithms and other technical means to get the “right” results of an election.

This is just … Museveni Museveni Museveni … and nobody is shocked in 2021 and neither should anyone be in 2022. Peace.

A look into Bobi Wine’s ***** End of the Year Message *****

I bring you warm greetings wherever you are and congratulate you upon coming to and end of this year, which has been a very difficult one for many Ugandans” (Bobi Wine, 31.12.2021).

As the year of 2021 closes and the political landscape continues to shift and manoeuvre it’s head. We can look back and reflect on what has happened and what to look forward too. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has gone through fire since entering the political field in Republic of Uganda. As a firebrand politician and an inspiration for the upcoming generations. As he stands on the barricades and fights together to topple a dictator. This is sort of a politician is rare to find and that’s why I am looking into his recent text published today.

As we all know, at the start of the year, we had a presidential election, which General Museveni chose to turn into a military operation. Ugandans were murdered, tortured, abducted and others detained. As I write this, we still have hundreds of our people in different prisons across the country including Members of Parliament Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana. Ordinary Ugandans such as Olivia Lutaaya, Kassim Mugadde, Machete Yasin, and many others are under illegal detention and there is no sign of getting a free and fair trial. Comrades Nubian Li, Eddie Mutwe, Dan Magic and many others spent more than half of this year in prison. There are several other comrades who have lost limbs in this cause, while many others have paid the ultimate price. I want to salute EVERYONE who has made any form of sacrifice in order to advance the struggle for a better country” (Bobi Wine, 31.12.2021).

Here we are seeing a reflection into how the election went down. As Bobi Wine knows and has with his team also created a report with evidence of the rigging, intimidation and use of security forces to ensure a victory for Museveni. Therefore, this isn’t just hearsay, but can be found proof of what his assessing here. We know there are many who has been injured, harmed and lost their lives as participants in the recent election. Which is tragic, but shows what sort of ends the current regime has to stay in power. Nothing is more value than stay in power, not even the lives of the ones you are supposed to govern. Just think about that for a second and then you see the brutality of the leadership of the current Kampala regime.

Our greatest achievement so far, has been stripping him naked. The whole world now knows that Uganda is ruled by a military tyrant who has no legitimate support of the people. This is an important achievement in any struggle to remove a dictatorship. Secondly, the people of Uganda are now more awakened than ever. I pride in seeing Ugandans, young and old much more interested in the affairs of our country” (Bobi Wine, 31.12.2021).

Yes, Bobi Wine and the National Unity Platform (NUP) has revealed more of the sinister acts of Museveni. However, Bobi Wine wasn’t the first doing that… if saying so you are dismissing the former dissidents and opposition to Museveni who stood on the frontlines and fought for the same, as Bobi Wine does today. So, Besigye have also enlighten and his party have been vital in the struggle. Therefore, Bobi Wine has ushered in a new era and new people into the struggle. He has proven the acts of current day regime. Just like Besigye did… Also, on the second part… yes People Power Movement and the NUP have reached new people. Yes, he has gotten more people in tune to the message and the needs of change, as far as I remember the most people galvanized for change in recent memory was during the ‘Walk to Work’ riots. Bobi Wine has reached plenty and ensured a new generation is ready to compete. However, this sound a bit to flamboyant to reality actually.

Away from that, I wish to remind all Ugandans that the People Power Movement/ National Unity Platform has championed the unity of the forces of change right from inception. After the 2017 by-election in Kyadondo East that brought me to Parliament, I set out to meet with all leaders of political parties, Civil Society Organisations, religious institutions, etc. When we formed the People Power Movement, we brought together Ugandans from all shades of opinion. This is because in principle we believe that all Ugandans (not just politicians) will need to come together and forge a way forward towards a #NewUganda” (Bobi Wine, 31.12.2021).

We know that the People Power was a unity based organization, as Bobi Wine did seek members from all parties and anyone who sought to end the dictatorship. That has been clear from the offset and no one can deny this fact. So, this passage is just reflecting the time he has had in politics and what PPM has become at this point.

For about two years before the election, we sat in more than fifty meetings with leaders and comrades within different formations in the ‘opposition’. Our view was that we needed to tackle Museveni with a single, strong candidate so that we would then scatter our energies across the country in trying to guard the vote. I was even willing not to be the joint candidate, if an honest analysis had been made and it was established that we front someone else. The discussions went on and on and on. Previously before we launched the National Unity Platform, some of the Party leaders kept telling us they needed to consult their party organs. Others told us they needed to first elect their party flag bearers, who would then sit with us to agree on a joint candidate. Others claimed that they could not work with us because we were just a mere pressure group and not a registered political party” (Bobi Wine, 31.12.2021).

Here we see the political gambit and how everyone see their pockets first. This revelation is not shocking, but shows the true fashion of things. As things moves and is revealed… this just show how fellow parties are working. What is also striking is that the negotiations and talks just went on-on-on. That is what stalling and keeping the newcomer busy with useless meetings. That’s how it sounds to me… and Bobi Wine maybe felt used or even wasted time in plenty of forum’s where they only had him to gain more politically themselves…

It later became apparent that some of the actors were in fact not interested in our unity at all, but were using those meetings and engagements to derail and delay us. In fact, one of the last and most important meetings we had to discuss the question of unity took place at the home of Owek. Joyce Ssebugwaawo, now Museveni’s minister. It was later on that we established that all along she had been in touch with the regime, although she was a Deputy President of a major opposition party.

When we formed NUP and were taken to court, some of the people who worked very hard to see NUP de-registered were not NRM operatives, but some of our perceived comrades in other opposition formations. Some went as far as approaching the Electoral Commission and Court staff to beg that they influence our de-registration” (Bobi Wine, 31.12.2021).

Here he continues and he proves that they were not in-fact using it for unity, but stalling and actually de-railing the PPM. That is a very vicious and clear attempt to distort the PPM from moving forward, as their influence could stifle and put up roadblocks to move ahead. The plans to make it harder with the court-case and de-registration was also set-off. It backfired, but also proves how far political actors and the state is willing to go. We have seen anything Bobi Wine touches becomes illegal or get into trouble. Therefore, the use of moles and others seems right, as they want to inflict damage on the new party and their chances.

By the time we went through the election and emerged out of it, we got credible information, (which is well within the knowledge of senior leaders), that Museveni sponsored several candidates at different levels in order to cut our speed. As everyone can see, this is information that we normally get and decide to keep with ourselves, but I thought it is important to share it so that the people of Uganda understand the dynamics at play, and place the most trust in themselves. No one else will fight for them except themselves” (Bobi Wine, 31.12.2021).

We would never be shocked by paid opposition or candidates sponsored by Museveni. That seems about right at this point. There is too many who has gotten a shot and become up-starts in the recent election. To do so to destroy NUP and PPM chances seems about right. As well, as using all means to get majority and control is the end-game of the NRM anyway. Therefore, this story is all based on merits and the achievements of the state at this current time.

Immediately after the election, every Ugandan remembers that I personally wrote to all heads of political parties, in order for us to forge unity and take the struggle forward. Yet again, some actors responded positively, others responded negatively and others did not respond at all” (Bobi Wine, 31.12.2021).

You can be sure that the paid opposition would not answer or show up to the call. We know the NUP sent out letter and asked for consultation meetings with the opposition. There is knowledge that parties like the FDC didn’t respond or care to answer. As they were to preoccupied with dismissing the NUP. While other parties did talk and greet Bobi Wine himself. So, we know this is true… and this is how life moves things forward.

He ends with:

Of course we continue to engage with all Ugandans, be it political leaders or not, on the urgent need to deliver our nation from the crisis which we face. This coming year, we must make a conscious decision to work together as comrades because the alternative would be to resign ourselves to a terrible fate. In the coming year, each one of us should simply double his or her effort while trusting in God. Freedom is in sight. Happy New Year to you all. God bless you” (Bobi Wine, 31.12.2021).

These words are fine and dandy… it is true that the leaders and the ones in power needs to fix the crisis. The NUP and their affiliates has to find a way forward. Also, to ensure they aren’t lost into the space of offices and titles. That the party continues to be on the barricades and fights the junta. However, the NUP and Bobi Wine hasn’t rattled the cage of Museveni yet. They have given him a headache and a little heart-ache, but the end isn’t in sight. The NUP Party President and former Presidential Candidate has to further his party and his movement. He has gotten far in these years. Bobi Wine deserves credit for what he has achieved in such a short time.

However, saying… freedom is in sight. I cannot see that… as the state and the security organizations isn’t buckling up or giving way. No, the state isn’t suffering or breaking apart. The centre is holding and Bobi Wine haven’t made the President walk on burning coals to reach a point. No, he has had his convoy and continued all of his perks while being in office. The dissidents and opposition has still gotten into trouble and prolonged suffering. The President isn’t stopping and that’s clear. This is why the NUP MPs, leaders and activists are behind bars as we speak. It’s hard to see the freedom and liberty for all in the coming year.

The NRM and Museveni have kept this going since 1986. The centre has to fold, the military and the police has to buckle. That is what has to happen at this point, if not a sort of demonstrations and continuing prolonged civil disobedience of epic revolutionary proportions, which the Republic have never seen. That is what the NUP has to be able to do. If they do that and gets the public backing. Than things are possible to happen… and freedom would be in sight. As of today… it is as bleak and dark, as the recent decade. Peace.

Somalia: Council of Presidential Candidates (C.P.C) – Statement (28.12.2021)

Opinion: Baba’s fantasy on corruption…

I was a governance expert to the late President John Pombe Magufuli. He often called me seeking expert opinion on how he could seal corruption loopholes in his country and he managed it. We will employ the same strategy to tame corruption and ensure more funds are allocated for our people, do not be deceived that there’s no money in the government. I was the Prime Minister for six years and I know where there are loopholes of corruption. When we form the next government, we will seal all those loopholes and use the money to fund projects” – Raila Odinga (Ian Byron – ‘Raila Odinga: I will seal all corruption loopholes’ 27.12.2021, Daily Nation).

The Orange Democratic Movement leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is coming with more empty promises ahead the elections in 2022. In the elections where it seems like his the successor or heir of President Uhuru Kenyatta, which his been allied with through this term, as they both have benefited from the handshake in 2018.

I have a hard time believing the man that helped the Jubilee and Kenyatta, who has resided over a government running grand corruption scandals and misusing public funds. Suddenly will make swift changes and revolutionize government procedures, protocols and block loopholes, which the corrupt elites uses to benefit from the state coffers. Therefore, this is selling another Canaan and another dream…. which will never appear. It is a mirage in the desert as a person hope’s to find greener pastures and possibly water….

Nevertheless, the stooges and the ones associated with Odinga will believe this. The ones who follows Baba is aligned with his campaign. They will sell this every other promise he comes forward with. These people will say it’s possible and is legit. However, do they think people are stupid?

That an second generation, wealthy politician and very connected elite person will fight against the others in his tax-bracket? Really? If it would have happened, it would have been sincere when Odinga was less fortunate and didn’t have all of the estates he does have. His part of the political elite and been eating too. He wants his cuts and his pieces of the pie. Not just the office and the prestige. That’s why he has risked everything on the BBI process, which was a failure from the get-go.

Baba can promise the heavens and salvation. He can promise that he will make water into wine. The naive will buy these pledges… because it sounds legit and Odinga knows how to wording himself. His a smart politician that way and he thinks the ducks are in the row for him now. As the dynasties and the ones in power are backing him. That’s why he has faith of him setting up a government and an administration after the next polls.

Odinga can promise the world and we know he won’t have the ability to deliver that. That isn’t new in the political sphere and he would be far from revolutionary by doing so. Baba is just another career politician who knows what to say and do. His ODM and allies will brand him in positivity and achievements in his career. That’s what they are doing and is supposed to do. However, don’t expect him to do magic.

As an ally of Kenyatta during this term. He didn’t challenge or use his “office” to make the government transparent. Neither has he questioned the assaults on the judiciary or other offices in favour of the Presidency. So, when the Presidential Candidate didn’t stop the corruption now or use his influence for betterment as an close ally of the President. Why would he do that as the President?

I cannot believe he will be a man of action. The handshake should have given him more leverage than making elitist amendment changes to the Constitution through the BBI. So, when Odinga promises to end corruption. I believe that is “hot air” and wasted space. However, even if it is so. He needs to be called out on the bullshit and not just praised for his great ideals, which we know he will not achieve or care about delivering. Peace.

Mogadishu Tensions: It is now Roble Vs. Farmaajo

“We will storm the presidential palace and capture him alive” – Pro-Opposition Forces (Keyd Media, 27.12.2021)

Just as things where moving slowly in concerns to the postponed elections in Somalia. The “interim” and “transitional” President Farmaajo have today suspended Prime Minister Roble. They have squabbled earlier in the year, but today Farmaajo upped up the ante. While it is reported that the “interim” President ordered security forces to the house of Roble and wanted to take him away from his office.

Therefore, the tensions has gotten worse. Earlier in the day, there was reports of troop movement in Mogadishu. There is now reports that the pro-opposition forces of Mogadishu will encircle and take Farmaajo now. They want to prevent the “interim” President from holding a press conference today.

As Prime Minister Roble came out with his concern and there been change in leadership within the cabinet. The PM has appointed Abdukadir Mohamed Nur as the new Defence Minister. There is reports of beefed up security at the Presidential Palace and such. That is clear and evident, as the tensions are now running high.

Some reports are saying that the Villa Somalia is sealed off now. The pro-opposition forces are reported to block roads leading to Villa Somalia and the Presidential Palace. However, it is hard to know. As there haven’t been new reports the last few hours.

Nevertheless, this is spiralling out quick and we can wonder where this will go. The Somali National Security Forces (SNSF) have threatened to arrest the “interim” President at a Press Conference today. Therefore, we know that the bloodless coup d’etat that Farmaajo tried himself to pull off earlier today has backfired.

The latest news are that the pro-opposition forces has taken over the Dabka junction and the nearby neighbourhoods. This is a clear indication of where things are going. These moves aren’t making things better, but becoming a stalemate of which we don’t know. As both parties are armed and assessing their strengths. We can wonder when the “interim” President uses “Gorgor” to attack his enemies, as they have been donated to keep him in power. As the specialized unit of 5000 soldiers who listens to Farmaajo’s command. That should be worrying and we can possibly see new skirmished in Mogadishu. Just like we saw in April 2021.

This here is worrying and tragic, as the men in office and in power uses military means to their own benefit. To settle their private grievances and all for personal gains. What we seeing now isn’t a sign of strength, but also what sort of state Farmaajo is leaving behind. After all these years in power … Farmaajo should have left things more stable and secure. However, it is more fragile and even more insecure. That’s the legacy he leaves behind, as his willing to risk anything to be “re-elected” again.

That’s why we are seeing in December 2021, the same we saw in April 2021. This is tragic, but also the state of affairs. When political changes are occurring, the weapons have to be used and the use of military means is on the table. Instead of having talks and proper dialogue. The “interim” President rather use guns and ammunition. Therefore, not strange that the pro-opposition are answering with same means. However, that also makes the situation more dire and causes concern for what is to come.

Farmaajo is clearly playing a dangerous game and you can wonder how many times he can pull this one off. Before he used Kheire to do it for him. Now he thought he could get rid of a second PM. That’s the sort of fella he is and the world can see it. Peace.

Somalia: Was this Farmaajo’s new coup attempt in Mogadishu? [with the suspension of Roble]

Today’s report that “interim” or “transitional” President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo have sacked or “suspended” his Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble who he appointed only this last year’s September 2020. This he has done on his 322 day without a mandate and not being the elected President since 8th March 2020. That says a lot from a man who has worked against the 17th September 2020 agreement on the elections.

The man that the “interim” President appointed to run the elections and secure it to be free and fair. Has now been suspended and fired, because of corruption allegations and possible land-grabbing. As Villa Somalia is trying whatever ways possible to rig the elections and secure a second term. Since the bid of prolonging his presidency without an election was thwarted after a week during last year.

We know that Farmaajo also ordered soldiers and security officers to the offices of the Prime Minister today. With the sole intention of overthrowing the current government. Just in favour of his will and his whims. That is the clear intentions of what has transpired today.

It is a reason why he has accepted to rule and be in office without an election for this long. That he has stayed and been able to get away with it for 322 days. Farmaajo hopes that he can do this yet again and not have any issues.

Farmaajo have ordered the “Gorgor” and Somali National Army when he is in need. Because of the actions taken today. The PM has counter-ordered what the “interim” President did and said the security organizations should take orders from him. While Farmaajo is standing down as another candidate in the up-coming presidential race, which has been postponed and not been able to hold the polls. Therefore, Roble has taken power and also issued a statement where he says the cabinet is still active and follows procedures under his lead.

We have clearly seen how far Farmaajo is willing to go and never stopping in his tracks. Now we have to see how this moves, as there is talks of escalations of the opposition forces in Mogadishu. Which are now retaliating and planning to block-off the roads to Farmaajo’s house. If that is happening, as well as more army deployment around Villa Somalia. The tensions will be rising and that’s because what Farmaajo decided to do. Peace.
