The new party “bonanza” ahead of 2026

If you think Mathias Mpuuga’s Democratic Front (DF) is the only new one ahead of 2026. You are apparently wrong. The nation is grappling with the knowledge and getting to know all of the new political parties in the Republic. That’s clearly what is up, as there are new every week and older and inactive parties are suddenly changing names.

That’s why the Ecological Party is having a vibe with the NRM leaning Kampala Central MP Muhammed Nsereko. While former Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa is launching his Common Man’s Party. Today there was a launch of the National Peasant’s Party (NPP) so it is that.

Earlier this year and in a slower speed, the Katonga Road Headquarters of FDC became the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF). That’s a party which will have much more of a say and have leaders that is well known. As that is the party of Dr. Kizza Besigye and it’s also already aligned with Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) and Gen. Mugisha Muntu. These are fellows who are known and can organize itself.

Meanwhile the DF is full of stalwarts and journeymen. Mpuuga will have to galvanize his ego and feel the pinch like others before him. There is little to see there, but there is a pattern here.

All of these parties comes out of nowhere and is suddenly rising. They are done in such a fashion. That you can wonder. Just like the rising of special organizations and pressure groups within the National Resistance Movement (NRM). There is so many of them that are passing in the wind and are appearing ahead of elections. They are there as associations and vehicles for the willing to be recognized and hopefully get appointed or known by the “high above”.

These other parties are now appear as challengers and opposition. They are here to weaken the National Unity Platform and their cause. That’s to weaken the “base” of the NUP and trying to forge other narratives. That’s why Mpuuga and the likes are speaking more ill of Bobi Wine than of Museveni. That’s the game-plan here to break the strongholds and weaken this party.

The PFF-ANT alliance is a sincere one and we can see that. The newly formed alliance has game and shows tact. Meanwhile, these other parties are briefcase parties and other formations, which are only there as diversions and playing people for fools. These won’t win anything substantial or be true competition against the NRM. That’s what Museveni wants and all of these “fringe” parties won’t be treat to inner-circle of Movement. No, these are jokers and as the younglings suddenly becoming Presidential Candidates without any merit or a name to mention.

The DF, Common Man’s Party and NPP is most likely there to hurt the NUP. They are pawns on the chess-set and the King is setting them in motion. The king cannot control the likes of PFF, ANT or NUP. However, he can dole over barren dead-beat parties given a second life ahead of the 2026 elections. That’s why we can see the gig and it’s to naive to think otherwise.

This here is a game and they have put it in motion. We will see how this will play out. Nevertheless, expect continues attack on the NUP. More than they are going after the NRM or Museveni. That would be telling and will show their true intentions. As they are there as a diversion and not for significant change.

It is ironic, but expect these pawns to act like royalty, but they will end up in oblivion after the polls. Peace.

Cote d’Ivoire: Declaration de la CAP-Cote d’Ivoire relative aux Operations de Parrainage Citoyen (11.07.2025)

Opinion: Mubarak Munyagwa must get his own butter

Mubarak Munyagwa is now officially starting his own political party. We don’t know the name, the headquarters, fellow allies or even who is part of it with him. That’s all in the dark. The former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Member of Parliament for Kawempe South. A man who lost the General Elections of 2021 and haven’t been able to galvanize his career ever since.

The man who was known for “Mugati gwa butter” and a funny renegade. A man who was vocal and stood on the barricades. A politician who has been arrested, charged and been in legal jeopardy. That man is now soon running his own gig.

Mubarak Munyagwa better be prepared now, as his joining several others into the General Elections 2026 with new formations. Not like his the most well-known character or has the best track-record even. Some might even say he betrayed Dr. Kizza Besigye and that’s why he has gone on this path. Therefore, who knows and the COSASE process was the final straw.

Who knows really, but there are questionable actions, as Besigye has come to his aide and helped him in the hour of need. This man should know better, but most likely his ego and ambition are in his way. Even when he can’t get re-elected in Kawempe South and the National Unity Platform (NUP) is too strong for him to compete with.

This man has self-kidnapped himself, been elected as the Mayor of Kawempe division in 2011 and in 2016 elected as the MP for Kawempe South, which he lost in 2021. A man who has a law degree and is capable of conveying a message. However, is that enough to build a credible momentum and a party?

When the likes of Mugisha Muntu haven’t built a huge party over the years. You can wonder, what can Mubarak Munyagwa do now?

It seems like he will create another briefcase party and a one-man band for his own political gains. Another way of finding his meal-ticket and on his own terms. Not being bound by other people or their party structures. As he can own it himself and be associated with it.

But, but, but will it be enough butter for him? Maybe he needs re-issue the idea of praying for Museveni’s downfall like he did in 2014. There are so much controversy and the price of being on the frontline in opposition politics.

This man knows the cost and has been a target of the authorities. That is well known and isn’t a secret. Therefore, who is funding his party and giving him an edge? Because, who wants to support it and make it possible. Since this man needed the saving of Besigye to pay for a plot or land back in the day. So, it is not like the former MP has been smart about money.

We can just wonder, who is buttering the bread and who has brought the former MP the butter. That’s what remains and maybe we will know in the future. Peace.

The «FDC»-Reunion: The ANT-PFF coalition

“The leaders of both the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) and the newly formed People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) are meeting at Hotel Africana to witness the launch of a new political cooperation, a symbol of the unity in opposition ahead of the 2026 General Election” (Daily Monitor, 02.07.2025).

The parties that have been formed outside of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) are now coalition parties. The former allies are now coalition partners and fellow comrades are now seeing each other eye-to-eye. These are people that has worked together and been in the trenches. They are now returning in unification, and it’s needed.

The Alliance for National Transformation under the banner of Mugisha Muntu and People’s Front for Freedom under the banner of Dr. Kizza Besigye. These are leaders who knows each other very well. Just like Alice Alaaso, Amb. Wassawa Birigwa and Erias Lukwago. All of them has met each other and worked with each other in the past. These aren’t strangers and random political leaders. No, these are the friends of the same cause.

This isn’t surprising but shows a sign of what is ahead. These parties and political leaders need each other. ANT cannot do this alone and neither can the PFF. These two smaller parties need to galvanize the activists and the supporters, as they need to restructure and re-engage itself with the nation. Even if these people are familiar faces, they still need to prove their worth and that they can be an asset for the future.

We know the old FDC is in shambles and a lost cause. Now, the former cadres of that party in the ANT-PFF can re-engage and be a viable option. They can now as a joint force be a proven opposition and a voice of reason. That’s what we have to hope for and these two parties can also get the National Unity Platform (NUP) to join it. This would have the three serious opposition parties under one banner and with a unified message. Alas, being the ones who dares to challenge and wants change. However, that won’t happen easily…

We can be happy to see the ANT-PFF coalition and Memorandum of Understanding today. That’s a good sign and also a tale of old comrades unifying again. This is great news. We just have to hope for more.

I also hope the MoU will be leaked and we can see the stipulations of the agreement between the parties. That would tell how deep it goes and what sort of arrangements they do have. Just how deep the coalition goes and what they are willing to do for each other. That’s a tale anyone wants to tell and hopefully we will see it. Peace.

Tanzania: Democracy Union of Africa (DUA) – Democracy Union of Africa (DUA) Stands with CHADEMA and Hon. Tundu Lissu ahead of critical court decision (30.06.2025)

Opinion: Kiwanuka Briton won’t get passed Mzee

My mentor was given forms on Saturday. Why can’t I get mine? Does it mean they printed only one form?” – Kiwanuka Briton (30.06.2025).

JUST IN: Kiwanuka Briton from Jinja, who attempted to collect nomination forms for the NRM National Party Chairman position, was turned away by the NRM EC Chairman Dr Tanga Odoi, He was advised to return on Friday when the forms are ready” (KSTV Uganda, 30.06.2025).

A decade later and the sins of the past is repeated. Just like the then Prime Minister and Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Amama Mbabazi was seeking the NRM Electoral Commission and the approval of the party to run as Chairperson and President in July 2015. Which later ended up in Mbabazi running as an Independent Candidate under the banner of Go Forward and in the opposition coalition of The Democratic Alliance (TDA) in the General Elections of 2016.

That lesson should have been learned. The cost the price of paying for the forms are for nothing. Briton is better spending it on side-dishes, booze and a possibly investing crypto-currency. Than spending it on nomination fees for the National Chairman, which cost him 20 million shillings already. That’s a wasted burden and cost, which the man could have saved himself from. Those money was better burned on the streets and never touched. Because those forms and the idea of challenging Museveni is futile.

Anyone with who has a little common sense and knows the game knows this. The hurry to transition or change from Museveni is redundant. The old man cannot even retire so his son can carry on after him. The delusion is real and someone has kick some knowledge into the man.

Kiwanuka Briton is practically asking an old man who has sat in the chair and been the chairman since inception of the party and the movement to step aside. It is a brave action and a foolish enterprise. As Museveni has sat on the throne since the 1980s and won’t budge. We all know that Briton has to accept an offer he cannot refuse. That’s all that is given and the NRM EC has hopefully bought enough time to give him that offer.

Briton should have studied Mbabazi in 2015 and 2016. He can see the writing on the wall. There is a reason why no other has gotten the shot or the capabilities to takeover from Museveni. Everything has been done by default and the party has just ring-fenced it for him. We all know this…

So, why even bother? This is a waste of time, shillings and resources. Briton is better of doing nothing. His better just sitting back, drinking his tea and chilling somewhere. That’s what he should do. Because doing this, well, nothing good will come out of this. Unless, he accepts whatever the party and the people surrounding him offers him. Since there is no chance that he will ever really challenge Museveni or be his equal. That’s impossible…

Kiwanuka Briton should have known better, but no one enlighten him. If they did, he didn’t listen and went ahead anyway. This could either be his end or his gain. Time will tell, but this wasn’t clever… but a gamble with his future and whatever ambition he carries within his soul. Peace.

Opinion: Museveni, running for his ninth term [1986-2031]

“I have decided to come forward and see how to escort the Bazukulu and their parents forward for another five years and in this time I want us to really wipe out corruption” – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (28.06.2025)

Not breaking news from the Republic over the weekend. There has been no shocker and no earthquakes. Just another Saturday and a weekend where the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

I’m just one of the brothers who are tired of the erasing of the 1986 to 1996. Because he held the first election in 1996 and that’s how they count it to be 7 terms. Yes, 7 terms are bad and shows how he has self-styled President for Life. That’s nothing new either, as he has amended and changed the Constitution to fit his narrative and life. Therefore, we have to educate people about the lost decade.

The lost decade of 1986 to 1996 has to count as two terms, as he has since been “elected” for new years every 5 years ever since. That’s why he has held polls in 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016, 2021 and now in the coming year, 2026. But we should count 1986 and 1991 as well. Even if there were no polls. It is still two terms and a time he defied the need for elections and was a “transitional” government after the bush-war of the 1980s.

So, let us not say his trying to get “elected” for a seventh term. His getting elected for the ninth time. He is serving currently on his eight term. That is what his finishing and doing the final run for the 9th time. That would be sincere and it shows how long he has been in office. It is just a true reflection of how long he has lingered in power and reluctantly avoid leaving or retire.

His using corruption as an excuse to stay in office. Just like he has used the integration and the supposed wish to ensure a stronger East African Federation or a more unified East African Community. However, we know he hasn’t worked for that and only swayed his own ways over the years. That is just another long-con of the old man and now he uses corruption for his own personal gain. Just like he has used the tricks and theatrics to enrich himself and the inner circle surrounding him. We are not supposed to know that, but this trade is as old as the old man. This is his system and his political methods, which are now widely used and protocol. Therefore, we cannot run away from it and he has gained vast wealth because of it.

So, Mr. Ninth Term and the only man with a vision. Mr. Sunday who promised “fundamental change” and pledged for a liberation. He himself got liberated and so did the ones who is aligned with him. Nevertheless, the rest who dares to defy him or go out of his circle. They can suddenly be touched… and be in legal jeopardy. That’s what we have seen and this is how he runs his republic.

His not running for a better nation or securing your future. This isn’t steady progress, but more of the same. He should just run on “No Change” like it is 1996. Because his coming with nothing and taking it all. Just like he did yesterday and the day before, the decade before and before the millennium. He has generational wealth, because he stole from the future generations. Peace.

Opinion: Sodo “Mr. 5 Votes” are now the flagbearer

“I’m going to be MP for Mawogola North, there are no negotiations; if any, they will be in my favour” – Aine Godfrey Kaguta Sodo (04.06.2025).

Aine Godfrey Kaguta Sodo, the President’s brother is now the flagbearer of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) after incumbent MP Musherure Sharts Nayebare Kutesa, daughter of former Foreign Minister Sam Kutesa stepped down to adhere to an agreement from 2021.

The election in Ssembabule district and in the Mawogola North constituency it has now been resolved in the ruling party. As the political families of Kaguta and Kutesa has come to an agreement. Last time they both ran as independents and Musherure Sharts Nayebare Kutesa won. Meanwhile, Sodo only got 5 votes in the previous election. He was the least popular candidate and had such a massive loss. Even Salim Kisekka gotten voters on his side. Therefore, who believes Sodo will bring a landslide now?

That the wheeler-dealer and inside deals within the NRM makes these things happen isn’t shocking. As they are part of the deal and how the NRM operates. As the powerful and the ones with influence can gain control and get political power. That’s why Sodo is getting it now. Even if he isn’t popular or even someone who has a record of voter support.

That’s why it’s a big deal that the Kutesa’s family is stepping down for Sodo. He is getting ahead, because someone who is tested and was able to gain support withdraw. Most likely she will get a plum-job or be appointed somewhere nice after the General Elections in 2026. That’s what is happening after the polls and part of the agreement between the parties. However, this isn’t a winning strategy.

Now Mr. 5 Votes must win over the whole constituency. He has won over the ruling regime because of his family and the influence he sways there. As well as the “gentleman” agreement which was adhered too. That just shows how these things are, and it isn’t a given.

This isn’t a sign of strength or wisdom really. Especially knowing how it all went down in 2021. The district has already said “no” to him and he could be met by other more likeable persons. Even the likes of a Salim Kisekka or someone else who has a little heart and political capital in the constituency. That’s who can beat him and humiliate the brother of the President. It is arrogance to push your candidacy this way…

Sodo isn’t showing character or nobility but instead wants to force himself on the public. That isn’t leadership, but greed and ego. Peace.

Opinion: Wycliff Kasaija Kizza wants to become a punchline

“Wycliff Kasaija Kizza, 23, a final-year Business student at Kampala International University, has announced his bid for the Ugandan presidency in the 2026 General Election, aiming to end President Museveni’s four-decade rule. Kasaija plans to drive economic growth by leveraging Uganda’s petroleum resources, drawing inspiration from the UAE’s development model. He also stresses the importance of youth-led efforts in promoting sustainable development” (David Walugembe – NTV Uganda, 20.06.2025).

On Friday 20th June of 2025, Wycliff Kasaija Kizza launched his Presidential bid for the General Elections of 2026. We have seen this game before and this will fall flat. A young gun without a political platform or nationwide support.

This sort of game has been played out before and done without any sort of flair. That has been done in 2016 and 2021 elections. Where young wild cards are independently running for the Presidency. Meanwhile, they lack the acumen, articulation or even a plan or a manifesto to prove sincere political gameplan. They are just doing this to create clout and become a well-known name.

These sorts of candidates won’t win hearts or make themselves electable. No, they will become jokes and the person itself becomes a punchline. They are just mere puns and nothing more. That’s why he will end up in the lines of Joseph Mabarizi or John Katumba. These were just young guns who didn’t have a shot or even a destination with their causes.

Nothing wrong with ambition, but it’s wise to prove your worth first. Secondly, when you’re running for the highest office of the land. It would be smart to be a known character and someone we know anything about. Not like a personality or have even a public profile. That’s why it’s futile. Even others with bigger name and been in the political sphere for years has failed as Presidential Candidates.

That’s why these youthful candidates are only filling in the forms and giving the electorate choices. Even if the choice is a waste and he would be better to run as a Local Councillor or LCV and start from the ground up. That way he would go through the ranks and become a local phenomenon, instead he becomes the butt of a joke.

Wycliff Kasaija Kizza needs guidance… but I doubt he will get any or listen. Not like he created headlines or even made any fuzz surrounding the launch. No, it went away like hot air. Because there is nothing and it’s pointless. Peace.

Burundi: Ministere de l’Interieur, du Developpement Communautaire et de la Securite Publique – Communique relatif aux Recentes Elections au Burundi (12.06.2025)
