Opinion: FYI Abiy – Your neighbours won’t go back to default setting over night…

Our recent request for access to the sea has raised fears that Ethiopia is leading an invasion. I want to assure you that Ethiopia will not assert its interests through war” – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali (26.10.2023)

Nations and diplomacy isn’t done like a light switch. As a Nation you can build up trust and a reputation. Where you have beneficial and cordial agreement, which is mutual and profitable for both parties. This being trade, cultural exchanges or other arrangements, which makes relations blossom between two nations.

However, lately there been brewing scepticism and worry about the intentions of Addis Ababa. No one should blame them for having ill feeling either. When the Nations of the Horn of Africa pushes back and says “no” to Ethiopia. The Prosperity Party and the regime of Addis isn’t getting “love” but getting “rebuked” or lectured by its neighbours. That being Djibouti, Somaliland, Somalia or Eritrea.

While the Prime Minister spoke these words and tried to “chill” the tension down on the 116th Army Day with his speech. After he earlier in the month in a rant in Parliament spoke of being prisoners and the need for access to ports in Parliament. That’s why we shouldn’t take it lightly or with ease that he back-pedal now.

The PM has spoken softly about peace dozens of times, but he has issued war. The PM is a warlord and could easily order another one for the idea of grand Ethiopia and have direct access to the “red sea”. The ENDF did chant while marching “Red Sea is Ours” today. Therefore, the speech is just to buy momentarily “peace” and await the right moment to strike.

The trust between Addis Ababa and Asmara is fading already. The Eritrean media is already leaking and speaking ill of Abiy. They are already targeting and speaking of secrets, which it has kept until they felt betrayed. That’s what is happening and certainly the idea of giving up sovereign territory will be fought over and be bloody.

The PM has already enough conflict to catch on to from within. He has ensured the nation to have two civil wars. One which is he is currently preoccupied with in Amhara region. While his partly done with the one in the Tigray Region. However, he has guerrillas and militias aiming at him in Oromia and problematic issues in the Ogaden. So, it isn’t like he has everything under wraps in the Republic at the current time. The PM will have several of fronts and enemies aiming at him. The army will be stretched and the plights of the civilians will persist.

Regardless of all of that. It is the prestige and the big-man in him. He wants to achieve something and be remembered. Just like he has planted trees and been part of the green initiative. The ones that makes for remembering his greatness. While that will also fade and become small-fry. He needs to conquer and prove his name is worthy. That’s why his aiming for this and his party has dreamed about it for years. They have been awaiting to launch and have the ability to have an actual navy. This has been reported years ago and it has already a logo too. That’s how the PP and the PM works.

They have most likely preplanned an attack or thought of a way to outsmart their former allies in Eritrea. This is what they did in the Tigray region and when the invasion happened. They went in from several of fronts to conquer it quickly. The same has to be done with Eritrea. That would be the second ally of Abiy that he betrays and goes lethal against. Just like he has turned his guns against FANO and Amhara Popular Front (APF). The ones who fought with him in the Tigray war.

That’s why I don’t trust his words. They are not honest. Abiy can lie and deceive. That’s why he speaks poetically about “peace” but orders mechanical divisions to the borders and has drones ready to ambush whoever that is his target. Peace.

Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN): ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Statement on the recent escalation of Armed Conflict in the Middle East (20.10.2023)

Opinion: Abiy needs to keep his head over water [and forget about the red sea]

““To keep your head above water” is a colorful expression that means staying out of debt. A company seeks to keep its head above water during economic hard times. A man who loses his job tries to keep his head above water until he finds a new job” (VOA Learning English – ‘Keeping Your Head Above Water, 17.11.2013).

It is time that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali learns some self-control and restraint. I know that ship has sailed and he wants so badly to renown as “king”. Regardless of just that… the man needs to re-think and re-calibrate. The wheels are already falling off and his Republic are in danger as it is…

The Ethiopia that was rising before his reign is now lost. The financial impact of endless internal conflicts comes back to haunt him. The distress and lack of foreign stimulus will also hurt. The state will suffer as the bullets, drones and lives are taken too. In a few years time… a lost generation will try to find their ways out of this quagmire and we have no clue how this will end.

The PM are a megalomaniac. He wants to be praised and honoured. The PM wants the prestige and be grand. That’s why he speaks of peace and dialogue, but orders the wars. He is the man behind the conflict and that’s because he wants all power consolidated to him. No matter which corner of the Republic or who he trespasses. As long as his the victor and the others are weakened… he has won and can return in glory.

The PM is warlord and don’t have it confused because of the Nobel Laureate back-in-the-day. The Nobel Committee had no clue or obviously was ignorant of who this man was before giving him the Peace Prize. They couldn’t phantom or understand at the time.

Abiy has flaunted the idea of having a port and ending the times of being landlocked. The dream of the Red Sea. The way of getting seaborne and rule on both land, air and sea. That’s the dream and this is why he even sought to build a navy. Not only to own a port for the sense of easily import of goods or trading exports. No, it is also of military and strategic reasons. The way of making an empire.

Abiy wants to be crowned king and end his legacy on the stories of greatness. He wants to be a leader to inspire after his death. That’s what he wants and he wants vast achievements, but until now he has only created more chaos and more enemies. Sooner or later he has turned on allies and he could do it again. The ones that got him to office has been discarded too.

The PM only wants to be historical and give the FDRE what it “lost”. However, it isn’t for him to decide and for others to give him. These are sovereign nations and they will not budge. If it is Somalia, Somaliland, Djibouti or Eritrea. None of them will trade or give away their assets. These are national treasures and these shouldn’t be for sale. Neither should it be given to Ethiopia either.

That’s why the PM is losing here and the only way he would get it is by issuing another war. It wouldn’t be out of his realm. Though it would be the first time he does outside his borders and with his army. Yes, he invited the Eritrean to violate his sovereignty and partake in the destruction of Tigray. He did that… but that doesn’t mean these armies will allow the ENDF to conquer or enter Eritrea for personal gains. Neither does Djibouti or Somalia accept this. None of them will allow or accept it.

The ENDF has also been destroyed by the endless war and conflict in the Republic. It is most likely to damaged to carry another conflict now. As it is busy in Amhara to end the Amhara Popular Front (APF). While it has never ever been able to get rid of the Oromo Liberation Army/Front (OLA/F). That’s just telling and you can wonder… if the ENDF would be able to overpower or conquer someone else now. When it has lost as much as it has over the years.

The FDRE and the Prosperity Party haven’t ushered in a new era, but it has given the world the “medemer” terror. A new plague and lethal injection into society. That’s what it has done and it’s deliberate too.

This PM isn’t coming in peace. His flaunting ideas of the Red Sea. However, his nation is in to much turmoil to be able to access or have the strength to beat someone else. It will be another futile enterprise and the peasants signing up for recruitment to the army are the ones paying the price for it. Peace.

Niger: Macron and France is “softly” moving away…

There is no more Françafrique. When there are coups d’état, we do not interfere in the political life of countries. (In Niger) Basically, there is largely ethnic settling of scores and a lot of political cowardice the putschists are the friends of disorder” (…)”We are ending our military cooperation with Niger” – President Emmanuel Macron (24.09.2023).

Today on the 24th September 2023, President Emmanuel Macron announced in a TV Interview that France is stopping their military cooperation with Niger. They are also recalling their ambassador from Niamey, Niger. This is all about time and Macron has waited as long as he could to do this. However, the nail isn’t in the coffin just yet.

Even as people cheers as the announcement of leaving is there. The French has certainly a plan and possibly a “Plan B” if things was to change in Niamey. Just as swiftly as the Coup d’etat happened between 26th July to 28th July 2023. The French could find ways to end this junta and find another puppet in his stead. The French military is still stationed in the Republic and we never know when they could get orders to topple or change head of state. We have seen this before and shouldn’t be surprised if Paris would pull it off again.

Macron is acting defeated and humiliated by this. The junta of Niamey have put up a hard front. They have gotten allies in the region. So, the Niamey isn’t alone and has allies in Mali and Burkina Faso. Also the junta of Guinea is by their side. This sort of affair and diplomatic pressure isn’t what Paris is used too. They are able to sway opinion and find the “right dude” to become “the leader”. Now that has failed and it’s someone they don’t want there.

President Macron is a man who is losing influence in West Africa and the Sahel region. The interests of France is dwindling and the “reasons” to be there is lessening. They might say they are there for the “common good” but we know they are there for profits and for French business. That’s all it is and Paris doesn’t care much for Niger, except for the resources and the strategical place in the region. Therefore, Macron cannot short-sell this one.

When the French leaves. The allies of Niger needs to step up and take the mantle. There will be need for cohesion between the junta governments. As they are now taking over from where the French left off. Someone has to fill the temporary void and ensure stability. The Neo-Colonial forces are then out of the Republic, but there need to be response and an action to safeguard the territories still. Because, the insurgencies doesn’t go away.

Alas, maybe Niamey knows this already and have something up its sleeve. We don’t know, but we do know that this will cause celebration and be seen as a victory. The colonial overlord is finally leaving and history has been made. Paris has finally been conquered and now they can shield for themselves. That must feel liberating. A second liberation for Niger.

We know this saga isn’t over. That isn’t over until the military cooperation agreements are revoked or ceasing to be operative. The same about the bases and troops stationed in Niger. These all have to leave together with the ambassador. When that has happen. Then it is official and an historical event. This would be an end of story that begun with the expansion of the French Empire back in 1890s. That’s how long the French has been in the region and held people under its rule. It isn’t like the French came over night and plans to leave in a hot minute. No, the French are hoping this leadership will not last and the next will be more friendly. There is too much at stake for Paris to loose this one.

We all can see it. The French been there for so long and they will not accept the loss that easily. Peace.

Opinion: Ruto can tell porkies…

The ones that believes William Ruto in 2023. Well, I hate to say it, but this man can tell stories. President Ruto is a seasoned politician. A conning one at that. His thinking strategically and tactically to get ahead. That’s what he has always done and somehow he has gotten into a better position with time.

President Ruto has served other Presidents before him. He has been part of other parties before creating his own. Ruto is no stranger to controversy or scandals. However, these things doesn’t fester on him or his associates. It doesn’t matter if it is a little land-grab, emptying out state coffers or even looting the state reserves. As long as his eating and so is his allies. That’s all that counts.

Who foots the bill or get the credit due? Well, that’s not his problem. He will ensure that he gets to eat and prosper. That he gets new estates, hotels, businesses and whatnot. Just like he has done in all the years of politics. It doesn’t matter what sort of pledges, promises or campaign slogans. As long as he gets ahead of the competition. He will ally himself with anyone and whoever that gets him the ticket. That’s what he has done and to perfection.

The ones that believes Ruto will save you… I’m sorry but I got a few school lap-tops and stadiums to sell you. Have a few dams who needs repair and junked Eurobonds to collect. There are enough NYS Funds to get by tomorrow. Certainly something shady at the Weston Hotel too. Maybe even a Newspaper that he has acquired over the years. It is just so much and we don’t have the time.

The ones that think he will serve them are fooled. He only serves himself and his interests. Ruto has had years in office as Member of Parliament, Minister and Deputy President. He could have shown achievements or what he wants to do. However, there is little legacy left. Maybe the foundation stone at Makerere University can be a lasting piece for him. Since there is nothing left by hot-air from the man himself.

That’s why its hard to believe that he has become a Pan-Africanist now that his President. It is only done to boost his ego and make his term look better. His not personally invested in these things. Unless, there is a scheme and a plot to ensure a quick-pay-off. That is what keeps him going and his political ambition. The ability to get a slice and get a bite. There is nothing subtle about it either. It is just the way he has operated and gotten away with it too.

The ones thinking his a puppet or a man of the West. Well, his serving the ones that is ticking off his lavish lifestyle and bills. He don’t care who foots the bill and who pays servants. As long as they are paid and they will not strike. He don’t mind the strings attached or the lack of independence by doing so. The shortcoming and fiscal stimulus is helping his bloated budget and keeping his allies happy. That’s all that matters. If the World Bank or IMF is controlling or setting the standard. Let them just do that. As long as he can skim off the top and also give breadcrumbs to his allies. That’s all his asking for.

President Ruto aren’t here to serve. President Ruto is here to collect. If you haven’t gotten the memo. I delivered it too you. He will come with a wheelbarrow and promise heaven to the hustlers. Just like Odinga promised Canaan to the crowds over the years. The only difference is that Ruto was able to fix the system for his advantage. While Odinga let vibes take the wheel. Here we are in 2023…

People think high and mighty of Ruto apparently. He is a con and a long-con. It is just a matter of time before they can also smell the stench. Peace.

A look into Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnon UNGA Speech

I would like to reaffirm that the Government is committed to consolidate peace and stability throughout the country. We continue to pursue dialogue for sustainable and peaceful solutions” – Demeke Mekonnen (23.09.2023).

The Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen held his speech yesterday at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and it is worth noting. As the FDRE is in serious conflict within its own borders. There is full fledge conflict and lack of resolutions where they have made agreements. The Prosperity Party and the Prime Minister Abiy is busy trying to conceal the actions, but the truth is more sinister.

With the knowledge of that and the bloodshed in several of regions. There is no silence of the guns. Neither is there any sort of activity that shelter any sort of normalcy. The war-cries and the brutality of the state is lethal. There is no end in sight of conflict or violence. Only more and more bloodshed. Where ethnicities are turned against each other and the state is using it’s resources to silence the opposition once and for all. The game of annihilation and total destruction is part of the gameplay, which is people’s lives, regions and areas that is burned to the ground. That’s what is happening and this is why his speech is important. Because, this is the sort of headlines and stories the PP and PM wants to tell. Not the reality in Tigray, Amhara, Oromia or the Ogaden for that matter. No, they don’t want the truth of the aftermath of conflict in Afar either.

To ensure accountability, reconciliation, truth-telling, and healing. Ethiopia is finalizing its Transitional Justice Policy. Nation-wide consultations on Policy Options for Transitional Justice have been effectively conducted in all regions across the country. Through the National Dialogue Commission, Ethiopia has also embarked on inclusive dialogue to address past and present societal concerns. We are confident that this would contribute to realizing a prosperous future for all citizens” (Mekonnen, 23.09.2023).

We know that this is how they have portray it, as the dialogue has been one-sided and been in the vision of the Prosperity Party. There is no genuine reconciliation or efforts being made. That’s only done for headlines and not for the regions that are torn apart because the Prime Minister wants to consolidate all power. The Prime Minister is busy scheming and ordering wars. While his government is speaking of peace. That duality doesn’t make sense and is only done as a cover for the acts being made. The Dialogue Commission is as helpful as the Ministry of Peace. Both are just tools to mask and to cover up the devious acts of the government. Therefore, the Deputy is only serving the interests of the state and not the citizens.

Ethiopia continues to honour its responsibility by promoting regional integration to advance peace, stability, economic cooperation, and people-to-people ties. We are working to materialize the development potential of our region” (Mekonnen, 23.09.2023).

It is like the Deputy Prime Minister hope no one knows what it is doing. The FDRE is entangled and has brought violence outside its own borders. The conflict of the North has brought Eritrea in and they have never left parts of the Tigray either. Therefore, the FDRE and the PP isn’t fostering peace, but bringing more conflict in the region. The spiral of warfare and internal conflicts is endangering the region. While also hurting Ethiopia. As the burning flames and victims of scorned people will leave pain for the next generations to come. It is a lost generation now in Ethiopia that is fighting to keep Abiy in Office. As he is battling on every front and not even trying to create a peaceful atmosphere. That’s why nearly every corner of the Republic is hurting and his trying to build himself a massive palace. This the acts of the PM and his government.

That’s why reading this scripted speech from the Deputy Prime Minister is infuriating. The lives are taken and they are taking of peace. They are acting like they are trying to make things better, but they are sending troops, drones and mechanical divisions. They are arresting civilians and others are harassed just because of their ethnicity. That’s what is going on and the bloodshed continues like there is no tomorrow.

This is just tragic and the Deputy Prime Minister will most likely face none to little pushback for his speech. Because, no one really cares. However, towns, villages and homes are burning. Families are losing loved ones and others are lingering in detention without charges. While other are abducted, kidnapped and kept incommunicado. There is information blackouts, ceasing of banking operations and such too. If the FDRE fears an insurgency, they take all steps and uses all means to silence the opposition. Regardless of the price and the possible ramifications. That’s the inclusive dialogue the PP and PM is bringing. Peace.

Palestine: Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Exparitates – Press Statement (23.09.2023)
