Opinion: King Charles III won’t apologize to anyone…

The Kenya Human Rights Commission-KHRC has demanded unequivocal apologies from King Charles III, whose state visit to Kenya begins on Tuesday… The KHRC urged the king to apologize for mass and systemic atrocities, historic land injustices, and corporate-related violations involving the British government and British corporations…” (Time Street News, 29.10.2023).

The Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) is right on the demands and the request to the British King, as his soon arriving in Nairobi and visiting the Republic of Kenya. However, the KHRC and other entities will be disappointed. The King won’t deliver and I doubt he ever will.

His not this kind. Neither is the serving government in London. The United Kingdom isn’t a safe-haven or a place of human rights. Not at the moment no… they rather stifle the rights of asylum-seekers and “stop the boats”. These folks rather send migrants in expensive programs and hope they are left behind in a third-country like Rwanda. That’s who the UK and the King represents today.

That’s why the KHRC won’t get an apology for the past transgressions. No, King Charles III are there for merrymaking and safari. He is there to have fun and enjoy the spoils of his office. An office he has waited for many decades. His in his comfort zone now and he will not beg anyone. Especially, not the people and the generations after the acts made by his colonial Great Britain.

No, the King will act supreme and be taken care off. He will be a noble and have all the prestige. There will be no pushback or set-backs while his visiting the nation. No, only positive publicity and grandeur. The extravaganza of the royalties will hit Kenya.

The King will not say sorry for forced labour, labour-camps and other measures taken against Kenyans while London was ruling the nation. No, he will not do that and if so.. it will be a petty plea at a function or a gathering surrounding a monument of the fallen Mau-Mau, which the British deemed as “terrorists”. Therefore, the KHRC shouldn’t expect much, if anything…

What William Hague said in 2013 is all they will ever hear, if anything else, which was this: “However I would like to make clear now and for the first time, on behalf of Her Majesty’s Government, that we understand the pain and grievance felt by those who were involved in the events of the Emergency in Kenya. The British Government recognises that Kenyans were subject to torture and other forms of ill treatment at the hands of the colonial administration. The British government sincerely regrets that these abuses took place, and that they marred Kenya’s progress towards independence. Torture and ill treatment are abhorrent violations of human dignity which we unreservedly condemn” (William Hague – ‘Statement to Parliament on settlement of Mau Mau claims’ 06.06.2013).

The Kenyans people shouldn’t expect more either. The UK as the oppressor has moved on. They are entangled in a web of lies in Whitehall and in Parliament. As it fights to regain own sovereignty by detaching itself from the European Union (EU). The ones in power there are more into quick political points, than substantial or long term policies that makes a difference. Which is why the KHRC will not be heard.

King Charles the 3rd will enjoy the lavish life and the prominence of his office. As a King he will have everything set and they will cater to his every need. He will not beg or be humbled. No, that’s not his kind.

The ones expecting humility from King Charles III are asking to much. That will not happen today or tomorrow. Unless, he has a road to Damascus experience, which I doubt… Peace.
