South Sudan: Time for the IG to recognize that they are the problem

The one who sets fire to the forest cannot complain when the smoke chokes him” – African Proverb

The SPLM-IG has to consider what it is doing and before it is to late. Do they want Juba to burn and tanks in the streets? Does the SPLM-IG to have full fledged war and conflict on its hands?

They are soon there and the President are waling directly into the flames that he set on fire. The flames are soon out of control and he cannot complain about the smoke it has created. The dust isn’t settled and this is only the beginning. Wil he do this so he and his successor will rule over the ashes?

Is that the game President Salva Kiir Mayardit and VP Benjamin Bol Mel wants?

I’m just asking, because there is no proof of any sincerity or will to turn the clock back. There is no proof or evidence of a will silence the guns. Instead “the Silent Guardian” is attacking and bombing civilians. The UPDF is a willing tool to destroy, deplete and silence the rebellions of the nation. They are attacking them on behalf of the state. That’s what the state is doing and the IG should see what it is doing on their accord.

This is who the IG is and what they willing to do. Soon they are waging war on a massive spectrum. Not only against a rebellion and an armed insurgency against the Naath White Army. The SSPDF and UPDF are soon attacking SPLM-IO cantonment across the Republic. As they are already doing it again and the IO tells civilians to flee to safety. That’s what they are doing, meanwhile the IG will vilify the IO and anyone else who opposes it.

The IG should be careful. It is lighting a fire and I don’t know if they know how to stop it or if they want to even. There has been nothing in the wind or indications of anyone wanting to fetch water or even find measures to contain the fire. No, they just light up the forest and hoping nobody would notice. Seriously, is this who you are?

J-1 failed the Nuer and people of Nasir county. That is proven already, the bombings and usage of chemical weapons is a proof of how the state lost their way. This is what they did to civilians and to prove a point who was their master. That’s what the IG told the people here and the people have seen it now. So, the IG shouldn’t expect much or praise for their actions, as the Nasir will bury their own and know these liberators of Juba aren’t there to save them, but to send them into an early grave.

It is time for J-1 and such to listen. They need to act carefully and be calm. Nevertheless, when they decide the weapons and ammunition is the way out. That’s when you know they are lighting the fire and with no intent to stop it. They might blame the victims and the ones who get burned by fire. Nevertheless, they brought this on themselves and everyone else. They did it and these flames are their fault. That’s the reality here…

IG should know better, they have been here before, but now we as they are slowly walking into the ashes. We can just await the burials and the shallow graves, because some men just wants to consolidate power and rule over the souls that’s here no more. Peace.

Burkina Faso: Captain Ibrahim Traoré survives another coup attempt

The Burkinabé people remain resolute and united behind President Ibrahim Traoré, whose leadership continues to command overwhelming support in our fight against insecurity and external manipulation” – Minister of Security Mahamadou Sana (21.04.2025).

Joanny Compaoré, Damiba, Djibril Bassolé are the masterminds of this umpteenth coup d’état foiled by the president of the National Council of State Security, Commander Oumarou Yabre. These stateless mercenaries, concerned about the fate of their imperialist allies and the well-being of their fellow citizens, would have embarked on disastrous projects against the nation to please France and its lackeys in Côte d’Ivoire. This stateless Joanny Compaoré, former commander dismissed from the national army and dismissed from his position as director of SONABHY and his mercenary acolytes who collaborate hand in hand with the terrorists, thought they would succeed in their coup without being worried” (Le Message Libre – ‘Burkina Faso: Coup attempt foiled, patriotic people remain mobilized against stateless people and their imperialist allies’ 18.04.2025).

Last week on the 16th April 2025 there was plans to overthrow Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the Mouvement Patriotique pour la Sauvegarde et la Restauration (MPSR) Transitional Government, which have postponed elections and a civilian transition. As the junta consolidate power and ensure longevity of its reign.

Captain Traoré after taking power on the 30th September 2022. Waited all the way to the May 2024 before signing a decree giving himself an additional five years in office. That would give him 7 years without elections or any sort of electoral road-map. It is just a blessing and given that his the ruler now.

That Captain Traoré is feeling the heat isn’t anything new. The junta leader has to look over his shoulders and hope that he has trustworthy allies surrounding him. As there been several attempts of overthrowing him. There been several attempts, assassination plots and even mutinies within the army. Therefore, the backers and stakeholders supporting it has used all means to get rid of him, but never succeeding.

The captain should pray to his lucky star that there are peoople like Oumarou Yabre who are willing and is saving his career. The likes of Yabre is the reason why the Captain can be the Commander-in-Chief and the Head of State. People like him keeps him in office and does it out of their duty. That loyalty and the sort of dedication is needed to safeguard the throne.

This isn’t the first or the last. It feels like the 20th or maybe even 30th attempt by now. It has been so common and steady. That not writing about it feels like fever dream. The captain has to accept that his walking on a thin line and can easily fall. If he slips or have a moment of weakness, that could mean his end. There are enough knives out and that’s why he needs the likes of Yabre surrounding him. Those are the sort of character that will save his day. That is the lesson here and people should recognize that. Peace.

Zambia: Article 19 & 22 of the Cyber Crimes Act is made to incarcerate the “enemies of the state”

22. (1) A person shall not use a computer or computer system

to—

(a) publish or transmit electronic data that is obscene, vulgar, lewd, lascivious or indecent with intent to humiliate, harass or cause substantial emotional distress to another person ; or

(b) repeatedly send to another person electronic data that is obscene, vulgar, lewd, lascivious or indecent with intent to humiliate or harass the other person to the detriment of that person’s health, emotional well-being, self-esteem or reputation.

(2) A person shall not use a computer or computer system to disseminate information, statement or image, knowing the same to be false that—

(a) causes damage to the reputation of another person; or

(b) subjects another person to public ridicule, contempt, hatred or embarrassment.

(3) A person who contravenes subsection (1) or (2), commits an offence and is liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding two hundred thousand penalty units or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or to both” (The Cyber Crimes Act, 2025).

The ones in power in Zambia is getting used to it and wants to stifle other voices. President Hakainde Hichilema and the ruling regime of United Party for National Development (UPND) are now on the slippery slope of the Patriotic Front (PF).

President HH is no different than Lungu. The only difference between them is their face and how they are perceived in the West. HH is a beloved character in the West and is a darling at the moment. His the man and the progressive leader. Nevertheless, there been cracks in that and this law is just opening up the floodgates. This President has already gone after judges and after his predecessor. So, he showed his true self in power by now.

This Cyber Crimes Act is vague and one article alone can be used to silence critics, as it is written in such a manner, that any sort of interpretation of the law enforcement and judges can easily penalize and sanction a citizen. That’s what I am seeing by the Article 22.

Yes, the law has plenty of good articles and punishment on soliciting child porn and lewd procurement of pornography in general, which are good. That should be illegal and is by definition a well thought out of passages of law. However, there are others that needs to be discussed and should possibly be revoked or amended. As these are just tools of oppression of the state.

Article 19 isn’t anything better:

19. (1) A person shall not intentionally and without lawful authority—

(a) use a computer or computer system to relay or retransmit electronic communications to deceive or mislead users of a computer or computer system as to the origin of such communication;

(b) initiate the transmission of multiple electronic messages from or through a computer or computer system for purposes of causing harm or disrupting the computer or computer system;

(c) establish a software application system with the intent to deceive or mislead a visitor to the software application system as to the authenticity of the software application system for the purpose of gaining unauthorised access to information to commit an offence; or

(d) falsify header information in an electronic communication and initiate the transmission of such electronic communication to commit an offence, deceive or mislead users” (Cyber Crimes Act, 2025).

Me just as an layman can read these two articles and be worried about the citizens of Zambia. The people of Zambia should be worried here. These two articles and punitive actions that can waged on people can easily be done. As they are allowing the state to follow this and also gives them reasons to arrest people. Sooner or later cases will open up and people will be detained as a effect of the law. That is just the bleak reality here. This law is existing because HH and his party believes it is for the betterment of the Republic. However, they are the ones in-charge and have the majority. That’s why they think they can get away with this. As HH himself branded similar law as the “Big Brother Law” and called it out. Nevertheless, that’s from a different perspective than actually wearing the crown.

The ones who dares to challenge, question and be vocal online should be concerned. The ones who tries and who acts upon it. They can easily become targets and possibly become felons. That is the future in Zambia. HH has approved of it and this act will make it happen. Peace.
