Sudan: The Coordination-body of The Democratic & Civil Forces (Tagadom) – On the anniversary of the October 25 coup, the revolution is alive and those who overthrew it have no legitimacy (25.10.2024)

On this day 3 years ago, the forces of tyranny conspired against the glorious December Revolution and carried out a coup whose parties were the Armed Forces, the Rapid Support Forces, the Islamic Movement, and some armed movements that are now participating in the April 15 War. It was no coincidence that the same parties that had overthrown the revolution would engage in a fierce war aimed at eliminating the revolution and its forces. It was not strange that the forces of the revolution would withdraw from this strife, stand against the war, seek to strip it of any legitimacy, work to stop it through peaceful means, and restore the path of the glorious December Revolution.

On the anniversary of the coup, we will not tire of reminding you that the first step towards the April 15 war was the October 25 coup, and that the coup and the war had one goal, which was to stifle the aspirations of the Sudanese people to seize their freedom and dignity, and to open the door wide for the return of the defunct National Congress regime, which the Sudanese people had peacefully overthrown and isolated. The gang of the defunct regime decided to take revenge on the people and subject them to terrible torture, through a coup that brutally killed the revolutionaries and did not succeed in weakening their resolve, so this gang ignited a comprehensive war to achieve through it what it had failed to achieve through the coup.

On the anniversary of the coup, we say it clearly: The coup has no legitimacy and we do not recognize the de facto authority. In this context, we affirm our rejection of the Port Sudan group’s attempts to gain legitimacy through the gateway of war, after the coup failed to achieve this goal for the parties that participated in it.

We, in the Tagdom, renew our call to all revolutionary forces to unite around the goals and objectives of the glorious December Revolution, and to work hard to end this war, address its effects, and establish a sustainable civil democratic transition path. We also stress that we will work with all our strength to resist any trend to legitimize any authority that comes through the gate of war. In this context, we will submit a detailed political and legal memorandum to all international and regional institutions as part of a package of steps to confront any plans to impose an illegitimate authority that strengthens military tyranny, restores elements of the former regime, and divides the country. There is no legitimacy except for the glorious December Revolution and for what the Sudanese people want, not what is imposed on them by force.

The revolution continues, the war is fleeting, and the plans of the defunct regime will not succeed. The Sudanese people have buried the tyranny and corruption of the National Congress regime and will not allow any party to revive it again.

Sudan: The Coordination-body of The Democratic & Civil Forces (Tagadom)– Statement (24.10.2024)

The Coordination-body of The Democratic & Civil Forces – Tagadom is following with great concern the developments in eastern Al-Jazeera State, and the campaign of widespread violations in the cities of Rafaa, Tamboul, and Al-Hilaliya, and many villages in eastern Al-Jazeera, which were subjected to massive terror operations, many of which amounted to the deprivation of the right to life, killing unarmed civilians by gunfire, in addition to widespread looting and robbery, some of which reached the looting of the main markets that were the only lifeline for many areas in eastern and northern Al-Jazeera, which exacerbated the humanitarian situation and led to a large-scale exodus from the region.

The Rapid Support Forces Coordination Committee holds them fully responsible for the major violations in eastern Al-Jazeera, and stresses that these brutal and shameful violations must stop immediately, and warns against the consequences of continuing to terrorize defenceless civilians.

It also condemns the bloody targeting by the Sudanese Armed Forces aircraft of the Sheikh Al-Jili Mosque area in Wad Madani, which resulted in dozens of civilian casualties, confirming that the two warring parties do not pay any attention to international covenants and agreements regarding the protection of civilians.

In light of the continued repeated violations against civilians, the Progress Coordination Committee calls on the two parties to the conflict in Sudan to adhere to international laws and what they agreed upon in Jeddah, especially the following: the principle of protecting civilians and not endangering their lives. It calls on the active local, regional and international forces to continue to pressure the two parties to the war in Sudan to stop it immediately, seriously begin the process of cessation of hostilities, and move forward in establishing a new era that will return the country from the circles of wars and coups to the path of democratic civil transformation, leading to a state of freedom, justice and peace.
