Tchad: Gen. Kaka addresses the ceasing of security agreements with the French

“Over time, this agreement became obsolete, completely obsolete. It no longer corresponded to the security, geopolitical and strategic realities of our time, nor to our legitimate expectations, as to the full expression of our sovereignty. It does not bring us any real added value in the military field, where we face alone varied and serious challenges, including attacks of a terrorist dimension. As a sovereign state, with 66 years of experience since the proclamation of the republic, Chad has every right and even an obligation to freely define its international relations, to choose the forms of cooperation it wishes and to conduct its defense policy according to its priorities. This breach of the defense agreement with France is part of a necessary reassessment of our strategic priorities. Chad is in no way in a logic of replacing one power with another, much less in an approach of changing masters. The government is instructed to proceed with the implementation of this decision, by contacting the French party. Our country believes with faith in its ability to defend its integrity and ensure the security of its citizens and their property. This decision therefore constitutes a sovereign act, carefully considered, fully assumed, aimed at strengthening our national independence and responding to a strong commitment to the Chadian people” – General Mahamat “Kaka” Déby Into (01.12.2024).

This here is a really damning assessment from N’Djamena. It is clear that the elites of Paris and the former colonizer isn’t understanding the needs or what the Chadian leadership is seeking in 2024. They are feeling left behind and that’s why they don’t value the security agreement, which now has been ceased.

That Gen. Kaka does this. He must believe he will have others filling in the void and the needs that France previously served his government. A General of his stature must be sure of funding, logistical support and help from others. To fight terrorism or whatever issues that are apparent in the Republic.

Gen. Kaka will be hailed for this, but his just serving his own interests in doing it. That’s because he knows someone else will help and will give him the needed ammunition. He wouldn’t do it, if he didn’t have sureties and securities from others.

It is good that Gen. Kaka is standing firm on principle, but I know there is some other envelopes that is going his way. He is safe and getting the liquidity he needs. The guns and glamour are still on the way. Just not with some love story from Paris. His getting it from Abu Dhabi or something. Because this man needs foreign support and most likely has it covered.

Gen. Kaka has the UAE and therefore can risk losing the French. He knows this and we know it. That’s why it serves his interests and the elites in N’Djamena to ensure longevity of his reign. It is also beneficial to cease operating with France and being one of plenty of other Republic’s who disassociate itself with the former colonizer. Ending the era of Francafrique.

Surely Emmanuel Macron has felt a pinch lately. The influence of France is dwindling. Now yet another state has disassociated itself. Not only as a sovereign, but as a independent state who serves its own interests. They aren’t solely bound by relations to Paris. Those days are gone and its actually history. Peace.
