Dr. Kizza Besigye is in critical condition [on his 91st day behind bars as his ordered back to prison by the High Court]

“Veteran opposition politician Dr. Kizza Besigye and his aide, Hajj Obeid Lutale, appeared before the High Court in Kampala for a habeas corpus hearing seeking their release. The two have been in remand since November after being abducted from Nairobi and charged with security offenses and treachery at the General Court Martial. Last month, the Supreme Court halted the trial of civilians in military courts” (NTV Uganda, 19.02.2025).

“Dr. Kizza Besigye and Hajj Obeid Lutale have been sent back to prison by Judge Douglas Singiza, who adjourned the court session to take care of some internal matters. The judge also asked journalists to leave the courtroom for the time being” (Baba TV Uganda, 19.02.2025).

If you thought they intended to free him or bail him out. You were wrong. There is no intention of stopping the process or the case surrounding Dr. Kizza Besigye. They intend to detain him and keep him behind bars. That is the gist of things.

This is vengeance of the state against Besigye. That isn’t shocking…

It is just what the National Resistance Movement (NRM) stands for and what it defends. This sort of misuse of power and rule of law to silence dissent. That’s what this is all about. The NRM and their allies speaks of the law and the process. However, they didn’t use process or such when apprehending and kidnapping Besigye in Nairobi, Kenya. Neither has they proved any of the allegations and keeping him on remand for over 90 days in prison. Therefore, they can just lie and the lie is only endangering Besigye.

If you believe the messaging of the state. That they have the goodness of their heart and concern about Besigye. This isn’t true, as they are just playing ping-pong with him between the courts, and they aren’t producing a proper trial. Neither is they giving him relief and release to help him with medical treatment. Therefore, who believes the tyrants who are delivering the tyranny?

The ones believing the state cares or is concerned with the condition of Besigye. That isn’t true and they are just furthering the torment of him. They have decided to send a message to the population… that if you dares the state this is how they will treat you. These people don’t mind the possibility of death or demise. As long as … the population understands they could be in his stead. That’s the message and memo the state is sending.

Besigye is just the victim of his own popular rise. He is a victim of being a voice of reason and is targeted because of that. This is why his behind bars and they create manufactured and fictional charges to keep him detained. As there is no proof or witnesses that will prove the allegations or criminal conspiracy. This is why he is behind bars on remand and not released back in public. Peace.

The Silent War: M23 has soon conquered Uvira

Now that AFC/M23 has conquered Goma and Bukavu. The next goal seems to be Uvira. As they want to solidify its role in the Kivu Provinces. The M23/AFC have even gotten an ally and are now in a grand coalition with Twirwaneho. So, they now having another militia supporting its mission and operation.

They are now gaining grounds, as the FARDC/Wazalendo is losing it. They are retreating and even the Burundian forces have fled back across the borders. As they are seeing the strategical and tactical advances of M23/AFC, which was a reason why the M23 could takeover Bukavu so quickly.

Now they are steaming ahead and now will have control of the Kivu Provinces in totality. This is just one move at the time. The warfare done is deliberate and is clear. They have not only outmanoeuvred, but they are outflanking the FARDC/Wazalendo.

The leaks surrounding General Makenga proved they have drones and other connections to satellites, which means they have an advantage by air and can get an aerial oversight of the frontlines, which is far from what the FARDC/Wazalendo can. That means the sophistication of the warfare is giving M23 an edge.

This is hurting the Kinshasa government and their forces in Eastern Congo. As they are scrambling and are outplayed on a regular basis. That’s why the M23 is moving ahead and able to conquer such vast territories in a short amount of time.

The M23 will now have Uvira, Bukavu and Goma. That is significant and telling. They are now controlling vast areas and urban areas too. Cities and centres of trade, which will benefit the war-economy and the militia itself. The backers will get their profits and get their wealth extracted as a part of it.

Uvira is at a standstill and awaiting the M23 today. That’s really telling and worrisome. Yet another city fallen to M23. Now we can wonder what is their next step and where they want to continue the battle. As the frontlines has moved at such a phase.

FARDC/Wazalendo needs more support, logistical and arms, which can compete with the M23. As they are now continuing to outsmart them, and it is losing their territorial integrity. The FARDC isn’t able to combat it. That shows, as the last few weeks of warfare has proven.

Kinshasa needs to change its stripes. There is a need for a new strategy and new ways of defending the territories. Because M23/AFC and their allies are now taken it with ease. That shouldn’t be the case, but it is. The fastness of the troops and the ability to takeover strategic locations. Just shows how the FARDC/Wazalendo has failed their mission. Certainly, there is a need for emergency meetings, but also new army commanders that can compete with the militia’s ways of manoeuvring. Peace.

Sudan: Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Press Statement (18.02.2025)

Opinion: Gen. David Sejusa is this really you? – A look into yesterdays twitter thread

As far as Free Uganda is aware, the High Court of Uganda ordered the so-called General Court Martial to cease hearing the Sejusa case. Museveni and Levi Karuhanga were forced to officially abandon the case, and this was formally communicated by Levi Karuhanga at a recent court sitting. Noteworthy, however, Museveni ordered the military court to deny general Sejusa his freedom, sending him instead back to Luzira for no known legal reason whatsoever. General David Sejusa is today in Luzira prison at the pleasure of Despot Yoweri Museveni, and for nothing other than pure political expedience” (Press Statement: General David Sejusa’s fate cannot be hinged on the situation of his persecutors. That a military court martial chairman is ill in hospital cannot be reason to illegal and criminally keep General Sejusa in Luzira prison. (26.03.2016).

I have had a keen eye on Gen. David Sejusa aka Tinye aka Tinyefuza. A man of his words and a army commander that was entrusted with huge responsibilities for a reason. That man went on his quest and went on a side-mission, which deferred from the government standpoint. A sort of tangent that ended his high profiled lifestyle and put him on a crash-course with the people who had given him titles and responsibilities. Therefore, you should suggest that this sort of fellow has some understanding of the surrounding troubles of Dr. Kizza Besigye.

At one time he stood tall against Muhoozi Kainerubaga. At one time his own people and supporters followed his foot-steps, as fled into exile and was a walking felon in the eyes of the law. He was not only walking away from the post as a UPDF Member of Parliament, but also of other dignitary roles. Which gave him intelligence to expose the inner-works and endangered his life. That’s why to create the Free Uganda/Freedom and Unity Front (FUF) was active and a voice of reason. After he fled and where he challenged the state. That isn’t forgotten in the eyes of me.

So reading this… after knowing what happened a decade ago. Seriously, man, are you the same fellow? Or has someone changed of heart?

THE BESIGYE POLITICAL QUAGMIRE;all getting entangled like in a Mare’s Nest: When there were celebrations after SC judgment, I warned that the battle was far from over. I warned that Trashing Army Courts(GCM)was a diversion(check posts).I warned then, as I do now, that this FIGHT is beyond Law; Courts; Judges; and even Rights. Underneath all the high-sounding words of Freedom, Rights, etc, lies a FIGHT FOR POLITICAL POWER! That’s what makes this fight lethal,&even EXSISTENTIAL for some People. That means it can not be won by posting coffins& photos of Besigye! The present contestation becomes even more complex&dangerous bse it seeks to Restructure the MILITARY, as an Institution of State. UPDF took blood to build, it can safely be Restructured by Consensus, NOT recklessly running RUGHSHOD over anyone with different views! If cool heads on’t come foward to help, it may lead to spilling more Blood. And this is a real possibility! The current standoff is therefore beyond LEGALITIES; IT’S POLITICS, STUPID; IT’S POWER, STUPID! So this is a fundamental fight which, it seems, few are even capable of comprehending!” (David Sejusa, 17.02.2025).

This is the same man under the banner of FUF or Free Uganda called it a “Kangeroo Court” and wasn’t sweet talking the authorities. Neither was FUF anytime his case was pending speaking diligently about the proceedings either. They were bashing it like crazy back in the day. Are we supposed to act differently than you did back then? Why are you entitled and others are supposed to act respectfully?

Is it because you knew power and had allies, it is cool to bash it and crack at it? Speaking of spilling blood. Didn’t you write this about the struggle back in the day…

Therefore, to all those who advocate that we fold our hands and do nothing, I ask of you – how can we do nothing, while the president of Uganda is abrogating the constitution for which millions sacrificed their lives to put it in place? How can we do nothing, when a president is looting the country and, in effect, enslaving all our children and grandchildren to the yoke of debt repayment, when a president is destroying all the systems and structures of the state which will inevitably lead to instability and loss of life, when a president commits a country to endless wars with no accountability whatsoever to lives of the soldiers being killed and the money being spent on these megalomaniacal enterprises, when poverty and hunger overwhelm an over taxed population, when a president turns a country into a family enterprise, when a president starts using a national army as herdsmen on his numerous cattle farms, when a president orders the introduction of “pass laws”, like was in apartheid South Africa, for political leaders who are peaceful citizens, when extrajudicial killings become rampant? (Note for example, that Mr. Kalungi was found innocent and released. So who killed Hon. Nebanda? Similar?) Then doing nothing is not only “morally treasonable but is criminally culpable”” (David Sejusa – ‘Letter: LOOMING WAR AND GOVERNMENT COVER UP: Government agents target civilians to scare population’ 07.07.2014).

Why I am posting this… because you wrote this now…

“IGNORANCE& INDISCIPLINE OF”KEYBOARD WARRIORS”:INSULTS AND BLACKMAIL DON’T WIN WARS; NUMBERS, IDEAS AND CONVICTION DO! At the end of the day, Political Fights, whether for FREEDON, Rights, or even LIFE, like in case of Besigye, becomes a Game of NUMBERS&IDEAS. NOT BUYAAYE! The approach of “YOU MUST JOIN US, OR YOU ARE DAMNED” is Childish and Stupid,&is for CLOWNS not equipped with knowledge of how to win political struggles. It narrows the Political Base&Support& Alienates People who would join you out of Conviction, so you are left with KWALA-KWALAS! People who join the Struggle don’t have to love Besigye, or even be his friend; the majority owe him nothing! They too have their own struggles& trials. So Stop being PRESUMPTUOUS& ARROGANT! It is these you alienate who form the CRITICAL MASS, without which u are just clowning!” (David Sejusa, 17.02.2025).

Dear General,

I hate to be that guy. But can you read what you wrote in 2014 and posted as an open letter to the masses and then read you own part of the threads on Twitter in 2025. Because, these two things doesn’t add up and is inconsistent. Unless, you as a General has given up activism and is fatigued. Unless, you now think people are beyond power and doesn’t recognize the state affairs, which you were entangled in at one point. Alas, you could address it more thoroughly and precise, instead of being condescending.

Dear General,

You should see how the texts of old are reflecting a mirror on you. As if everything was different when your career and life was on the line. Now we are supposed to bow to the system and accept defaults. However, when it was your case. We were supposed to be on the barricades. That doesn’t add up. This is an equation that isn’t fair. It isn’t fair to Besigye and isn’t fair in concern to you. Just as we should be loud and obnoxious about you back in the day. We should be similar in regard to Besigye now. It wasn’t clowning when we addressed the concerns of your case and your trials, but we are doing it now for Besigye. That’s where you lost me.

The problem for people like me. I remember to much. That’s why I could go into archives and find this stuff from back then. I shouldn’t have too, but it was necessary.

General David Sejusa, you have done your piece and I commend you for it. However, in this case. I thought you would have more care and be more reflected, as you went to the same courts as Besigye is doing right now. The one that experienced and been through tribulations should have more compassion. Alas, maybe that was to much to ask. Peace.

A look into Museveni’s Besigye statement

I have seen the concern by some Ugandans regarding the remanding of Dr. Besigye for the very serious offences, he is alleged to have been planning. If you want a stable country, the more correct question, should be: “Naye Dr.Besigye bamukwatila ki? Why was Dr.Besigye arrested?” The answer to that is a quick trial so that facts come out. Otherwise, you are promoting insecurity which is very dangerous for the country. Nobody in the world can easily give us lectures on reconciliation and forgiveness because that is part of our doctrine right from the 1960s” (Museveni, 18.02.2025).

You would think someone who branded themselves as a “Freedom Fighter” and a “Liberator” would have a clearer mind and not be jaded. Nevertheless, power corrupts and it shows. The years of endless power and lack of accountability takes it tolls. A man who every whims is the law and everyone is his subjects. That shows with his wordings and how he defend this impunity towards a fellow civilian.

Dr. Kizza Besigye is a civilian, a citizen and an prominent opposition leader. A well known man who has stood tall. A man who has faced the law and continues to face it on a regular basis. Because, the authorities are authorized and is following his every move. They are on his tail and are ready to throw the book at it. That is well known and isn’t a secret. Heck, Besigye is the most arrested and charged man by any means, but no proper sentencing or even prosecution has come his way.

The same can be said about the current case and the reasons for having him behind bars now. The system is rigged against him and the charges are fiction. There are better spy-novels in a book shop near you, which are more resounding and more believable than the stories the authorities are trying to pin on Besigye at the moment.

We are not for vengeance but the danger of the killers must be removed. Therefore, the correct answer in the matter of Dr. Besigye is a quick trial” (Museveni, 18.02.2025).

A lie is a lie. This is a naked lie. We know it is vengeance and nothing else. They only does it because of what Besigye represents and what he has become. They wouldn’t do it to any other man. It is exactly that and they cannot mask it any differently. The President can lie, but it doesn’t make it the truth. Honestly, it is disgusting and should be rebuked. We all know this is lies and he is just proving to the world what he really thinks.

If the President believed in quick trials, why are he behind bars for over 90 days and no proof, witness or evidence been presented in the General Court Martial? You see the lie and it isn’t clever. If the state prosecution had a case and had proof. They would have presented it and proven the crimes that Besigye is alleged or conspired to do. Alas, wherein the problem lays, as the President knows it is a ll a figment of imagination and they can only toy around with him for a set amount of time.

Lastly: “The concerned People are, therefore, working on two fronts. Transfer the files to the Civilian Courts from the Military Courts and the Government and the legislators to close the gaps in the Military Courts. If you are innocent, why do you not demand for a quick trial so that you can prove your innocence and expose those who are “persecuting” you instead of demanding bail, forgiveness, as if serious crime is also entitled to holidays?” (…) “On the issue of sickness, there is, first of all, a Government hospital in the Prison. Besides, Dr. Besigye’s personal doctors have been visiting him and even taking him to private clinics. If there was need for any additional medical care, the Government would be advised” (Museveni, 18.02.2025).

If Museveni himself had been treated in any similar fashion or endangered as Besigye. You know he would have blamed Obote, Amin or anyone else who is dead by now. Heck, he would have addressed Lule or anyone else who was in office. Because, we know he goes against anyone and can act as an opposition whenever he feels like it. That’s just Yoweri for you…

This sort of bureaucratic hogwash is only defending the speed-blocks and the turns of a case that is manufactured from the on-set. They are deliberately making it harder and stopping Besigye from getting released. There isn’t a care or concern about his well-being. Neither is there any sort of action made, which wasn’t done to slow the process. They are planning to produce the case in the High Courts tomorrow, but that is after weeks of deliberately keeping it stalling at the GCM. So, the President knows fully well the damage and couldn’t care less. The hospital at the prison isn’t that great. We all seen how the Prison Service is keeping people captive and isn’t treating people well.

The President knows how the system is rigged, as he created this system and is the oil in the machinery. That’s what he does and he cannot step away from that.

Dr. Kizza Besigye deserves much better than this. It just shows the heart of the President or the lack thereof. Peace.

Dr. Kizza Besigye is in critical condition at Luzira Upper Prison [and been behind bars for 90 days on the 17th February 2025]

We passed by Luzira Upper Prison to check on Dr. Kizza Besigye who has been on a hunger strike to protest against his illegal detention. We were not able to see him because he is very frail and weak. He sent a message to us through Hajj Obed Lutale Kamulegeya who briefed us on his worrying state of health, to a point that he collapsed this morning. He demands for his freedom, and emphasises that if the state has any legitimate case against him, he should be tried in a civilian court!” (Bobi Wine, 17.02.2025).

We in FDC, We are gravely concerned about the deteriorating health condition of our founding President, Dr. Besigye under prison authorities. Based on reports and disturbing visuals from his recent court appearance, it is evident that Dr. Besigye is quite physically sick and suffering from health issues that have significantly deteriorated over time. We are aware that he was yesterday taken to a medical facility at Bugolobi Village Mall for urgent treatment under a very heavy security deployment. He was unable to move and was taken to that facility in a wheelchair. The FDC calls upon right thinking Ugandans, the opposition, the, Media, human rights and civic activists to rise up and be counted in this justified pursuit of fighting for freedom and justice as well as raising concerns about Dr. Besigye’s safety and well-being” (Forum for Democratic Change, 17.02.2025).

The question about the legality of the detention of Dr. Kizza Besigye is out of the window. The case of a civilian in a pending case at the General Court Martial (GCM). That one should have been shattered a long time ago and shouldn’t have been a thing from the on-set. However, there are more dire consequences going on.

That he was yesterday taken swiftly to the “The Clinic” at Bugolobi Village Mall and now today collapsing. He is in a deteriorating health condition and needs medical treatment. That is undeniable at this moment. We should be concerned about the well being and his needs.

It is good that Bobi Wine and other Opposition Leaders tried to access him today. Nevertheless, they didn’t gain access to him. Meanwhile, we know NRM Minister Chris Baryomunsi was able to do so yesterday. That’s before the reports of him being taken to “The Clinic” and was getting some treatment for a little while.

Now we don’t know what is happening and Besigye’s life is in danger. Right now isn’t the time to wait for the authorities to act. Neither is it time for the slow mechanisms of the Judiciary and the other parts of Law Enforcement. Because of all of these are slowing the process and won’t come to the aide of Besigye.

Dr. Kizza Besigye needs to be in a hospital and get proper treatment. Not be behind bars and awaiting his continued demise. That his collapsing and not able to meet visitors is telling everyone how dire things are. This isn’t the moment to sweet talk and let the system work. No, this is the time for haste and to save the life. That’s if the Prison Services and the Authorities values life. The life is on the line. There is no time to wait or be concerned, be worried or think you can discuss it.

Now is the time to act and do it with haste. Besigye needs medical treatment and health care professionals to oversee his needs. That’s what Besigye needs and he doesn’t need prison guards blocking his every step or taking away his freedom. No, Besigye needs doctors and nursers to monitor him. That’s what he needs and as soon as possible. Peace.
