“I instructed the government to act in accordance with the principles of reciprocity and suspend the issuance of visas to citizens of the United States of America. Chad has no planes to offer, no billions of dollars to give but Chad has his dignity and pride” – President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno (05.06.2025).
In a swift turn, the Field Marshal and President Mahamat Idriss “Gen. Kaka” Deby Itno has responded to the suspension of Chadian citizens from entering the United States of America. Yesterday, Washington D.C. issued another “travel bans” on several of nations, including Tchad.
That’s why the General and Head of State, Gen. Kaka has retorted in this manner. It is more of a symbolic action. As the Republic isn’t a tourist destination and neither is it a sought after travel destination for Americans. The American population or citizens won’t have much knowledge or even the ability to find the nation on the map. They are most likely to ignorant to have any idea about or be concerned about it either. Not like they are having steady commercial flights from Newark or Atlanta to N’Djamena any time soon.
Gen. Kaka does this for posturing and national pride. It is an easy way to score points at home. This doesn’t cost him much. His maybe poking the bear of Washington D.C., but his nation is part of the Francafrique and former French colonies. So, they are more connected to France than anything else. Not like they have such vast enterprises with the Americans. They have some old security and bilateral agreements, but that’s more power-play and soft-power moves of the old-Washington and not the current one. Certainly, those might be endangered by this move, but who knows, right?
Gen. Kaka is now challenging Washington D.C., even if he risks little to nothing doing so. Tchad is just showing its sovereign and rights as an independent nation. The President, the Field Marshal and Commander-in-Chief is just proving himself. His putting himself on a grand stage. Maybe even getting introduced outside his normal sphere. That’s good for him, but at what cost?
Will this be beneficial and will it hurt him in the long run?
We can just wonder what the outcome of this will be. If the Security Agreements and the bilateral agreements will be deferred or cease to operate. As those are the ones that isn’t allowed to enter Tchad. That means the American soldiers and training companies has to leave or move to another nation on the continent. This could be the result of this here, as it is not like the Republic is a hotspot for expats or for digital migration. Neither is it a place for tourism or for American’s traditional holiday destination. Therefore, it will have other consequences.
Just like the yesterday’s act of Washington D.C. is blocking asylum seekers and refugees from Tchad to enter the United States of America. They are blocked from better future and from entering a nation that could offer them a better tomorrow. That is now not an option and these people have to seek shelter elsewhere. There most likely more Chadian citizens wanting to go to the U.S. than the other way around.
This is why this is posturing. This is a ploy for political capital. Washington D.C. wins their base by bosting the blockade of people from Tchad. Meanwhile, the Gen. Kaka drums on the banner of patriotism and nationalism by blocking U.S. in the same manner. Though it won’t be as powerful or as substantial, as it is to the souls and the people trying to reach the West. Peace.

“These legislative and municipal elections come after the presidential elections, in accordance with Burundi’s new constitution adopted in 2018, which extended the mandate of the head of state to 7 years, while that of deputies and municipal councilors remained at 5 years. These 6 million Burundians who are expected to go to the polls for the legislative and municipal elections will choose 100 deputies, 60% of whom will be from the Hutu majority and 40% from the Tutsi minority, with at least 30% women. As for the municipal elections, the number of municipalities has been reduced from 119 to 42, but there are no longer ethnic quotas imposed on political parties, as in the past. However, victory in these elections already seems assured to the ruling National Council for the Defense of Democracy-Forces for the Defense of Democracy (CNDD-FDD), whose members have increased pressure on opposition parties in recent months” (5sur5Afrique, 05.06.2025).
“Unfortunately, with the parliamentary configuration in sight, consisting largely of parliamentarians from the ruling party, the CNDD-FDD, and in an environment where the political space is closed, where the main political opponents have been banned from participating in the election, where the population has received clear instructions to cast their votes only in favor of the candidates of the ruling party, the CNDD-FDD, it is obvious that the hoped-for changes will not come as desired. For the past 20 years, parliamentarians and senators have been at the service of the Executive, instead of serving the interests of the people who elected them” (André Nikwigize, 05.06.2025).
The ones believing Conseil National pour la Défense de la Démocratie–Forces pour la Défense de la Démocratie (CNDD-FDD) would deliver proper democracy or even honest polls. They are apparently wrong, as the whole process has been used with violence, intimidation and misuse of power. That’s what the government has done and it’s so visible.
The CNDD-FDD doesn’t care about the citizens and their plights. As the suffering is staggering. The lack of service delivery and abilities to govern is deteriorating. The state rather use money on the security organizations and keeping the upkeep of the inner circle. As that is more important than ensuring the citizens gets fuel, electricity or anything else they need. As the rising prices, inflation and lack of basic commodities are on the rise.
This election just proves what the CNDD-FDD is willing to do. They forced the citizens to register themselves and they are forcing them to vote on them. The ones that protesting or voting on someone else is in danger. We have seen how the authorities have gone after Agathon Rwasa and his supporters. The state has also gone after the CNL party during the campaigns. Meanwhile, the CNDD-FDD have forced students and kids to partake in the campaign rallies of the ruling regime. This is all a charade and orchestrated to make the CNDD-FDD look magnificent.
The ones that has been following this knows that the state is manufacturing this and producing the results. This is all an effort to look supreme, but the acts are more sinister. As the state uses its power and whips people to stand in ques to vote. That is the initial thing here and they are forced to do so. There is no soft spot or soft power. Only force and fear. That’s what is driving this and it’s just horrifying to know. These people are using their offices to control and get themselves new mandates to cling on to power. That’s the reason for the actions today and yesterday.
CNDD-FDD plans to stay, and they do so by any means necessary. Peace.

The ones believing that President William Ruto and the broad-based government wants the citizenry or the citizens knowledgeable about the government. Well, then you are wrong. Neither does it want to be challenged or be tested by digital mechanisms. That’s why it is punishing the citizens who are testing, calling out or using their creativity to show what the government is up to.
That is the case of Rose Njeri Tunguru who made a digital system to send mass-emails to Finance Committee of the Parliament. She did so earlier in May and by the end of May they arrested her. Now three days later they are arraigning her in court on charges of Cyber Crime. For initially putting forward easier ways to write emails to the Parliament. That is the “crime” that she did.
What Rose Njeri Tunguru really did was writing a template of a letter, which the citizens could use to send emails to the Parliament. That was an action of creating a ready-made email to send and easier for the citizens to be addressing the concerns of the up-coming financial bill. That’s why they are targeting her now. So, is writing and publishing email templates in Kenya, criminal conspiracy and a cyber-crime?
Clearly things are jaded in Nairobi and in the Republic of Kenya. When it is becoming illegal to make mass-emails to politicians. That is a part of the Computer Misuse Act and is seen as a criminal conspiracy or a criminal act. Is this the nation that Ruto wants to achieve?
It is really compelling that someone making a template of an email and publishing it online is a criminal offence, even seen as an act of criminal conspiracy, which is stopping the works of the Parliament. If the Parliament and the Financial Committee has a problem with getting the emails. Well, they can delete them and ignore them. Alas, they are instead incriminating a person who happened to write one and share it online.
Why is the government so afraid of their citizens? Are they afraid that she and others would make similar templates of emails and send it their way? Are the Members of Parliament, the Cabinet Secretaries and other dignitaries above the citizens they represent? Alas, why are they doing this?
This must be the fear of Gen Z and how they reacted to the previous Financial Bill. Another rally against the Financial Bill would hurt the government and the perils of the state. Not like the trust between the government and citizens are healed. That’s why the government fear people who are outspoken or able to articulate their grievances. Therefore, they want to silence them…
This here is a signal to the citizens and what the government is willing to do. It is muting citizens and doing it deliberately. Peace.

“Today is the turning point. No more running circles because we have a direction for the party” – Norbert Mao (20.02.2010).
“Mbale/Kampala — Democratic Party delegates have elected Norbert Mao as the party president, replacing Mr John Ssebaana Kizito. In the results declared by the returning officer, Mr. Polly Mukiibi in the wee hours of Sunday morning [about 4.41am] Mr. Mao polled 708 votes to edge his only rival in the DP race Al-Hajj Ssebagala who garnered 321 votes after spending crazily during internal campaigns” (Daily Monitor – ‘Uganda: Mao is DP President’, 21.02.2010).
“UPDATE: Kennedy Mutenyo, the presiding officer for the Democratic Party (DP), has declared Norbert Mao the winner of the party’s presidential election, marking his fourth consecutive term. #NTVNews The election, held at the Asamar Hotel in Mbarara, saw Mao secure 969 votes, while Alitia Elia and Dr. Michael Lulume Bahiga received 52 and 339 votes, respectively” (NTV Uganda, 02.06.2025).
A fourth term is upon us and the Democratic Party of Uganda doesn’t look stronger, better or even surrounded by the talent, which brings change or any sort of momentum ahead of the 2026 elections.
The era of Mao has really shown his character and who he is. Now that he is in an agreement with the National Resistance Movement (NRM). He really is emulating the NRM and continue his legacy to tarnish the old party. That’s what Mao is up too, and the ones hopeful of the party has left the fold. Only Mbidde has stood by him, and he was shady from the onset. So, they are of the same kind, I suppose.
There is little reform or spark left in the DP. He has turned a future powerhouse of the 2010s into a relic of the past. They are becoming maligned, small and fragmented. The DP party of old would have various characters and leaders who seemed promising. Who would contest and try to change the party. Those days are long gone, as everyone is just to bow down to Mao and whatever whims he has. That’s why he even ensured the process was shoddy and blocked another candidate from running against him. This is because the incumbent knows that he isn’t without critics or without people who wants to see his downfall.
The DP Party is now running in circles. It is without a proper direction, except for feeding Mao and being a meal-ticket for his inner circle. The party fits the paradigm of being an organization that can be utilized for self-enrichment and getting fancy titles. That’s what Mao has been able to build but not create a party that endangers or even is capable of challenging the regime. No, he rather being a comrade and being a “Good DP” for His Excellency.
Now that he has another term on his hand. We can rest assure that he will use it to be a friend and an ally of the President. That’s because that’s the hands that feeds him. He has already revealed that he was connected and working for the Gen. Salim Selah Foundation since around 2007. So, this man is willing and have been a man who can trade away his integrity long time ago. He was just able to fool people in the past, but in the present we can all see it clearly.
Norbert Mao is one of them. A turncoat and a meal-ticket politician. A man whose willing trade principles for cash. That’s who he is and his selling his party for a fortune too. Even if the DP wasn’t “his” party, he surely sold it and destroyed over the years. Peace.
