A look into Bobi Wine’s statement on the NRM Primaries

The recent National Resistance Movement (NRM) Primary Elections ahead of the 2026 General Elections has been contested and been creating havoc. It is natural that this gets discussed and the narratives are being told. As the only party allowed to gather, run party operations and be a mass-party without interference from the authorities or security organizations. Therefore, the word of the biggest opposition leader and the Party President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine dropped a short note or statement. There wasn’t much too, but the gist is compelling. The opposition leader needs to be swift and sincere, but being to calculated can be costly. As the National Unity Platform (NUP) needs to hold momentum and prove their value ahead of their second elections as a force to be reckon with.

Just read this…

So many NRM politicians are crying foul over the electoral fraud witnessed in their primaries. We all saw the violence and intimidation. We saw children lining up to vote. We saw the voter bribery. We’ve seen the allegations regarding the inflation of the registers in many areas. Legitimate results swapped in favour of losing candidates! Election officials bribed to declare losing candidates as winners. Most of the people complaining now are the ones who have been persistently dismissing our demand for electoral integrity. They have been quiet or dismissive whenever we have demanded for the withdrawal of the military from partisan politics. In fact, they cemented this recently when they passed that UPDF Amendment Bill!” (Bobi Wine, 20.07.2025).

He is painting a grim picture, but what he says is true. The NRM is showing how they are running elections and how they are rigging their own. That is common knowledge and their tricks are well known by everyone in 2025. There is nothing new under the sun, but the NRM is just showing their true face. Bobi wine just shows this with the usage of very few words.

Nevertheless, the call of Election Integrity is fine in itself, but useless in a dictatorship. As the burden of law is the word of the President. The words of the President becomes law. In a society like that… independent state organizations cannot exist or be working with a tyrant. The tyranny persist and it thrives on the misgivings of the state party and the ones in the inner circle. That’s why the call of Election Integrity is a justified one, but won’t go anywhere, as it isn’t something gives the President and his party power. Therefore, that won’t happen and they cannot alter their “winning formula”. Which happens to be the way the NRM Primaries was run…

Well, the same evils have happened to them and they’re now crying out bitterly. They bred and raised the very serpent which is eating them up now. The same impunity which they have shielded and defended all along is catching up with them. It is time for all patriotic citizens to fight for ELECTORAL INTEGRITY across political parties, regions, religions and ethnic origins. WE CAN DO IT” (Bobi Wine, 20.07.2025).

It is ironic that the Minister and incumbent NRM MPs are calling foul. It is just really telling when they are being vocal about the misgivings of the system. A system which these people thrived in and where they made their career.

Again, calling for Election Integrity under the guise of the tyrant is flawed. That can only happen the day that the tyranny is over. There is no incentive or motivation for a supreme leader and all power man to make himself less powerful. That won’t happen no what and he won’t risk doing so. Peace.

A look into Mzee’s statement on the NRM Primaries

If, therefore, you altered the results, we are coming for you” – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (20.07.2025)

Today, the President, His Excellency and Commander-in-Chief, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni finally addressed the nation in the regards to the National Resistance Movement Primary Elections. The words he wrote is powerful, because this party and organization is made in his image. What goes on and is allowed within its ranks are his creation. They are all part of the party and he has ordered it this way. It is his regime and authorities which participate in the Primary Elections too. Therefore, the words are really meaningful, when you know his role and the sort of directives he gives from within.

However, I must condemn, in the strongest terms, what I started hearing in some areas where some unpatriotic actors are alleged to have committed the following mistakes:

1. Altering results;

2. Tampering with the registers;

3. Using violence, including causing some deaths, apart from the injuries caused;

4. And the use of money and materials to bribe voters.

These are politically and ideologically wrong end must be condemned by all the lovers of the NRM and Uganda. All of our members need to know that the leaders we elect are in order to download Government programmes to kukyenuura (solve the solvable problems) of the Wannnachi. Omukyeno, is a problem that could be solved if necessary actions were taken” (Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, 20.07.2025).

It isn’t the first time that the President is speaking of wrong-doings and of ill advised activities within his own ranks. Heck, he has done this plenty of times before and promised to wipe it out or eradicate it, but never does. So, the words are hallow from a man who has ruled supreme for close to 40 years. These words are pointless and means little, when we know he won’t put any action into it or risk any consequences of the retribution. These are his allies, fellow culprits and people he knows from decades being in office. It isn’t random subjects or citizens hit by a stray-bullet, but people he has appointed, people he has anointed and been working in cahoots with. Therefore, we know these words are just for headlines and moving on to the next scandal.

Why, then, do you tolerate and be used by the unpatriotic elements that pollute our beautiful process of democracy with violence, bribery, cheating, etc? It is so annoying. However, the good thing is that the mistakes they are committing are also crimes by law of the State of Uganda which renders them prosecutable” (Museveni, 20.07.2025).

Time will tell if the law-book will be hit against the ones who did break the law. The clock is ticking, but a very chosen few might be taken trial and be prosecuted. Nevertheless, don’t expect the big-men, the men with influence and closely associated with the inner-circle. Those people will not be captured or face the law. No, these will continue to use force, intimidate and be allowed to rule with impunity. That’s the sort of nation that the President has created and the image of militarised political landscape, which has proven a “winning” formula for the old man.

The ones believing his words. Well, you shouldn’t and you shouldn’t expect much. There isn’t much to it, but it is refreshing that the President address the ills of his party, but don’t expect him to solve these problems. Because those problems are the reason why his able to stay in power. Peace.

Burkina Faso: Traoré’s end of CENI is the start of his Life Presidency

Captain Ibrahim Traoré this week has made the decision to dissolve the Commission électorale nationale indépendante (CENI) which is the government institution who oversee and has the authority to run elections in Burkina Faso. The Council of Ministers on 16th July 2025 made the “framework of the refoundation of the State” and the dissolution of CENI, which was made as a budgetary change and to rationalize it under the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Mobility instead.

This choice signals the future, as the man who took power in September 30th 2022 and gave himself a five year mandate in May 2024. That man is clearly on a mission to stay unelected and unopposed as the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief. We know the Captain has no interests in elections and he has said it wasn’t a priority. Therefore, the recent act is just suggesting one thing and one thing only.

The Captain is planning to rule for life and extend the transitional period as long as he can. They speak of foreign interference and misuse of government funding on CENI. However, the Council produces no proof of this and it’s just allegations. It is accepting “hearsay” and word of mouth, instead of actually proving it.

It is just telling really why he dissolves the CENI. This man doesn’t intend to be ruling this Republic as a democracy or hear the will of the people. Neither has he any plans or wants the government to turn civilian anytime soon. As he wants to rule and he can give himself more instruments or the state and continue to pursuit the mission of ruling for life. That’s the only lesson here.

This junta is using the transitional period to extend its power. That’s the end game here and everyone should recognize it. These sorts of moves aren’t done for the betterment of the nation. It is a personal gain and for individual interests, as it is weakening the state and ensuring more power to Captain.

Traoré took power by the gun and he has been nearly assassinated a few times. There been coup attempts against him and most likely will happen again. Because his not opening up for civilians and for the will of the people. That isn’t revolutionary, but is another possible stagnation. A way to secure, consolidate power and have more say over the elections. The end of CENI should be a warning and a sign of the times ahead.

The captain is steering the ship and sooner or later people will see that his words are the law. When they get that and accept this. Then they understand how the Republic is run and that he has become their master. They are the puppets to his publicity and PR. The people are the peasants that are used as pawns and staging his ever greatness. Meanwhile, the reality must be so much more grim. As he rather rule supreme over them for eternity.

Traoré is showing his long-con here and his not concealing it. He took the power by the gun, but now his consolidating it by the usage of the pencil writing laws. Peace.

Kenya: Kongamano La Mapunduzi (KLM) – Free Boniface Mwangi (19.07.2025)

Opinion: Should we be concerned about the “nkoni” squad ahead of 2026?

This National Resistance Movement Primaries of 2025 are revealing a true reality on the ground. The NRM are showing their force and way in manners, which should frighten and be a concern of everyone. These people aren’t leaving anything behind and the polls are life or death.

That’s why the Ssembabule district and Lwemiyaga county primaries are telling. The loss of Theodore Ssekikubo to Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Rwashande is a tale in itself. As the incumbent of ages lost this week. The rebel MP and the vocal Member of Parliament, which are a prolific character in the August House. He lost the ability to be the flagbearer and knows it will be harder in the General Election outside of the NRM.

That isn’t what is striking enough. As if the Army Commander and Army Officer is running in the elections. This has been normalized and getting a daily occurrence. However, one more thing was more shocking and worrying.

That’s the mobs and groups of people with “nkoni/kibooko” which means whip/stick. The people had sticks which are usually used to guiding and defence against the cattle. Which is why people should be worried about groups carrying these and possibly targeting the opposition with these. That could be signal and be a worrying sign ahead of the polls.

The nkoni squads in question was supported by the army and had directly government support, which means they wanted this and this is sending a message ahead of the Primaries. When they are using these sorts of means ahead of a Primary Election. You can just wonder what the same candidate is willing to do in the General. Just imagine that… and reflect on it.

We have seen the black mambas, the kifeesi and the drones. Should we be worried about the “nkoni” now?

Is this the future of the NRM party and how they are willing to organize elections? Use these tricks and methods of intimidation to win?

That’s a telling story and people should take notice of it. When an army commander uses these means in a primary. Would other follow and won’t matters just get worse? We have already seen how severe and suffering the state has attacked the opposition during the elections road map. These sorts of things would only make things much worse. Peace.
