A look into Bobi Wine’s Nomination Speech

Together, we have been everywhere preaching the message of a New Uganda. And today, with this nomination, we start the final phase in our mission to freedom and true independence. Since our nation was born in 1962, every change of leadership has been written in blood. The blood and sacrifice of ordinary citizens of Uganda and yet the leaders who promise liberation have always delivered oppression. For 40 long years, one man and a small group of relatives and friends have ruled our country on gunpoint. They have looted the nation and turned every institution of government into a tool of oppression. They have reduced the citizens of Uganda into slaves on their own land. They have turned our poverty into a weapon of control” (Bobi Wine, 24.09.2025).

Yesterday was the second time that Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine and the National Unity Platform (NUP) was nominated as the Presidential Candidate representing his party. He spoke with force and conviction. Bobi Wine is proving why a skilled orator and politician. That’s why the promise of a New Uganda isn’t new either, but it is a compelling story that needs to be told. As the regime and the oppressors isn’t gearing down.

I know some of you are already asking: Why vote again after what happened in 2021? Why do we risk it, the teargas, the bullets, the prisons, the torture chambers and even death which is awaiting for us? My answer to you is this: We risk it all because the alternative is giving up and that’s 10 times worse. If we give up now; we shall have no moral authority to complain about what happens next. If we surrender now, that means that the fighting spirit Ritah Nabukenya, of Frank Senteza, of Yasin Kauma and many others has been defeated. It means they died in vain. It means betrayal of our comrades who have spent years in prison counting on us who are still ‘free’ to continue fighting for their freedom too” (Bobi Wine, 24.09.2025).

Bobi Wine knows what is ahead and what at stake. He knows very well the costs and the burden of campaigning. He saw it last time and it won’t be any different this time around. The party and Presidential Candidate knows the treacherous terrain his going into. The NUP and Bobi Wine will be in trouble, and it is coming. He will be in pain and others surrounding him will feel it too. There will be more victims and more people hurt in this campaign too.

To Gen Museveni: I know you don’t like to listen to young people, but atleast listen to your friend Gen. Kahinda Otafire. Uganda was here before you, and Uganda will remain long after you are gone. You don’t have to burn it down on your way out. The best guarantee for your legacy and for your security, and for what you and your people have earned in the last 40 years is to allow a peaceful and democratic transition. That opportunity is available and we are not a vengeful people. We still believe in peace, we believe in justice and we believe in reconciliation” (Bobi Wine, 24.09.2025).

This plea will go nowhere. Museveni won’t listen to reason or anything else. If so, he wouldn’t have walked this journey of President for Life. That when he would have stepped down already and never altered the 1995 Constitution for own personal reasons. He wants to protect his gains and that’s why his still there. All the other matters are on the back-burner and he don’t mind the consequences. Museveni just wants to rule indefinitely and has no other plan.

Today, as we go into what is likely to be an even more violent campaign, I will rely on you more than ever. We are embarking on a long walk to freedom. Whatever lies ahead of us, is going to test everything we are and everything we stand for.But freedom has never comes easily. Our grandparents shed blood for independence 62 years ago. Our parents shed blood for what they thought was a liberation 40 years ago. Our comrades, in this generation, are in prison for this very struggle; they have shed blood for this struggle. Many of them are missing and they don’t even have graves, for this struggle. Let us carry on their mission. The same courage and discipline that have kept us going since 2017 until today, should carry us through this campaign” (Bobi Wine, 24.09.2025).

This is just stating the true state of affairs, but it tells what he expects to come. It is just tragic that a Presidential Candidate has to say these words and state it’s like this. Because, this shows how sinister the state is and what it does to dissidents. This isn’t spreading fear, but acknowledging the possible outcome of the campaigns and elections for his people. That they are getting kidnapped, tortured and possibly die for the cause. Imagine being told that and it’s for one man being on the ballot, instead of the President since 1986. That’s where we are in 2025 and that’s grim.

So prepare yourselves, hug your loved ones one final time and tell them that we are going to war. A war we never chose but was imposed on us by our oppressors. We’re facing an enemy armed to the teeth but we are bare-handed. Only armed with the truth and God. We’re fighting for our God-given right to live like full human beings in our country. We will never give up until we are free. And we shall be free in the end” (Bobi Wine, 24.09.2025).

This here is a memo. The Nomination Speech is compelling and a chilling one. Anyone who is following should be worried and concerned. There was nothing revolutionary in it, but a statement of honest sincerity of the cost and the willingness to want change. Alas, the burden is there and someone will pay the price, because that freedom and liberty isn’t given. That is the true reality here, as the one in power isn’t bestowing it onto others. Therefore, this is a long journey and it’s far from over. Peace.

South Sudan: United People’s Alliance (UPA) – Statement by Chairman of UPA on the Trial of SPLM-IO Leaders (24.09.2025)

Opinion: The UPC needs to clear the air

“UPC is not broken, and UPC is not going quietly. Those who think the party has died are mistaken. We will use every legal avenue to ensure justice, defend our constitutional rights, and present our blueprint for Uganda’s future” – James Akena (23.09.2025).

The Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) aren’t allowed to fly. The internal problems of the UPC party has come into action. The prolonged trouble stemming from the inside has caused the UPC the option and the ability to run a Presidential Nominee. That means that UPC Party President James Akena isn’t allowed to run and is barred as a Presidential Candidate. This is a loss for the party and shows signs of weakness.

The fractions fighting for power and control of the party is now hurting it. This isn’t new in the UPC party. We have seen it before and seen how the leadership fights to retain power and keep control of the party. That’s why you know Akena has trouble ahead. The party isn’t unified, and this is why other UPC members tried to seek the nomination too. That is confirmed by the Electoral Commission, and it is saying something.

This isn’t a party that has the answers or being a voice of reason. When they cannot sustain a party line and being direct in their messaging. That’s what people are seeing, and the EC can easily dismiss the petition and the nomination when these sorts of things happen. The EC can be flimsy and have a partisan way of doing it. Therefore, the UPC should be even more careful how it acts and does accordingly towards the EC.

The whole process and the way this all been done in public. Is disregarding the history of the party and it’s supposed presence. The internal issues which have been prevalent for some time. Also, in the regard of the pursuit and keeping Akena as the head of party gets into questions too now. He now must answer for what he did and why he didn’t succeed. That’s all on him and the party also needs to find a way ahead.

Akena and the UPC needs to think things true, unless it wants to a seen as a troubled house where there is a lack of unison ideals. That’s how this looks, and the fractions of the party is visible. The UPC needs to handle this and ensure that the party seem unified. That’s not how it’s looking. Neither is it a sign of strength when you have drama and politicking at the Uganda House. As you want to spread the message that the party is fine and not broken. That’s a very tragic look and isn’t the view you want to convey. Therefore, if the UPC wants to look serious and be taken seriously, it needs to be reflective and change this pattern.

The UPC Party deserves better, the party has such a rich history and now they are just destroying it. They aren’t even careful about it. Last time it was like this was around the time when Akena and Otunnu went at it. Now it is other characters and Akena. It is just surrounding Akena and his moves. That is compelling and the repetitive, and the UPC party should know better. Peace.

Two Days of Drama: The Presidential Nominations tells it all

The two days of Presidential Nomination is now over. The Electoral Commission has now accepted 8 candidates. These are: “On Day 1, the following candidates were duly nominated:

  • President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (NRM)
  • Kasibante Robert (NPP)
  • Mabirizi Joseph (CP)

On Day 2, the following candidates were duly nominated:

  • Nandala Mafabi James Nathan (FDC)
  • Mugisha Gregory Muntu Oyera (ANT)
  • Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu (NUP)
  • Munyagwa Mubarak Sserunga (CMP)
  • Bulira Frank Kabinga (RPP)” (Electoral Commission, 24.09.2025).

It is really telling that we are here in 2025 ahead of 2026. Everyone can see the game and the candidates tells it all. Just like the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) aren’t even there. Democratic Party doesn’t have a candidate either. We know why the DP doesn’t have one, but the two oldest parties aren’t involved. That’s a compelling picture.

We see that the true opposition candidates are the Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and Mugisha Gregory Muntu Oyera of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT). Those two are the opposition to the regime and the voices who resonate with people.

The one who has the control and continues the charade is President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). That’s why the race is manufactured this way. He only has two voices that can bring people against him. The others are just out of folly at this point.

This time we aren’t seeing independents and there is no one from the Farmers Party or the Ecological Party either. There is no women on the ballot. The 8 candidates are really a meagre example of the population. That is significant when about 200 people paid for the nomination papers. Yes, several students had nowhere to go, but others should have a shot. Even the likes of Muhammed Nsereko who has been a Member of Parliament for ages. If the likes of Mubarak Munyagwa Sserunga of the Common’s Man Party (CMP) can be nominated, why not Nsereko too? Please, who are you lying to?

Last time Joseph Mabirizi was an independent candidate, this time his returning on the Conservative Party (CP) ticket. This means he has veteran politician Ken Lukyamuzi’s support. Which is ironic when Mubarak Munyagwa has said he wanted to copy his style of politics in the past. That’s when things are getting tricky, but neither of these will be a force to be reckon with.

We know that Robert Kasibante of the National Peasant’s Party (NPP) and Frank Bulira Kabinga of the Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP) are on the ballot, but these two aren’t serious in any concern. Kasibante was an aspiring NRM MP just a hot minute ago. So, we know where his heading. The RPP is even less relevant than People’s Progressive Party (PPP) which was blocked from being on the ballot. So, things are weird in this election. RPP is there, but the EC stopped the UPC from being a part of this shindig.

If you wonder by now, why I haven’t mentioned Nathan Nandala Mafabi of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). Well, there isn’t much to say. He got the key, and he got to wave to empty streets on his nomination day. Even his predecessor Patrick Oboi Amuriat had more theatrics and more drama, which would have created a little interest around his name. Mafabi on the other hand is as inspiring as dry paper. No one believes him and he should just stop kidding himself.

Trust me this is a race between the NRM and NUP. The NRM is targeting the NUP for a reason. All the authorities and the state is going after the NUP. That’s who the enemy is and who they fear. The state doesn’t fear the rest. They are also trying to jade the ballot with a Robert Kasibante versus a Robert Kyagulanyi. We see the gig and it isn’t even clever. They have logo’s and everyone can spot an umbrella if they want too.

These Presidential Nominations and the ones duly participating tells it all. Mabarizi has grown and smart by becoming the CP candidate, but that won’t salvage much. He should have tried to become an MP for that party. That would have made sense. The same can be said about every candidate for the NPP, ANT, FDC, CMP and the RPP. All of these would be better off doing so.

Yes, Muntu is a figure of respect and of pragmatism. Some even says a President the nation never gets and apparently doesn’t deserve. However, this is a Museveni and Bobi Wine race. The others are just there to look nice and make it seems like people has choices to pick from. When everyone knows the score. This isn’t even funny, but that’s how things are managed. Peace.

Zimbabwe: Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) – Re – Organisation of the Politburo of ZANU PF Party in line the Constitution (23.09.2025)

Opinion: Kasibante cannot play these games

Today and tomorrow, yesterday and in the far distant past can easily expose you. Today director Robert Kasibante was nominated as the Presidential Nominee for the National Peasants Party (NPP). That’s happening on the 23rd September 2025 and only a few months ago he was a running candidate as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Member of Parliament flag-bearer for the Busujju Constituency.

It is mere months since he was running for the NRM and now his the Presidential Candidate for the NPP. His a diversion and a foolery to look like Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine on the ballot. This man is just there as a pawn and we should all be aware.

His a stooge and a man of the President. One of the Presidents Men who acts like an opposition. This man is just a ploy and a sideshow. That’s why his nomination went so easy and was no real hurdles. Neither was there any issues with his credentials or paperworks.

The Director of Victory School of Beauty and Hospitality Management trying to fool the public. Thinking his clever and wise, when there is posters out of him campaigning and trying to become the NRM MP in the 2026 General Elections. Than a hot minute later he becomes a Presidential Candidate for a briefcase party, a party which a ranking members was just singing on stage and dancing for President Museveni. So, they are really joking around and thinking he could get away with just that.

This man think he can showboat this and get away with it. If the Director wants the glory and the stories, he should have told it differently and played wiser. Everything was out in the open and everyone should see it. There is nothing to see here and we can all know how it goes.

Just like Amama Mbabazi was an “opposition” candidate in 2016, but still professed his membership to the NRM. Kasibante is no difference and only tries to bushwhack the people. The citizens should know and be aware.

He is a wasted ballot and a wasted time. Kasibante is a man of His Excellency and there to serve the President. That’s who he is and we all should know it. Peace.

Opinion: Mr. Sunday continues the charade ahead of 2026

Well, the man who won the Republic after the bush think he can hoodwink the nation, yet again. The man who used force to take power and capture it at the right moment. That man thinks he can continue his spell and be the forever Head of State. As he nominated himself and continued procedure for another election.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the indefinitely President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni held a massive ceremony at Kololo, as he was ushering the “new era” and “protecting the gains”. Meanwhile, others across the city of Kampala are blocked from having processions and even gatherings, as it is disturbing business and the flow of traffic. Funny how those considerations never are in consideration in concerns to His Excellency.

President Museveni is just bossing himself around. His allowed to whatever he feels. That’s why he has already done early preparations and been campaigning under the banner of Emyooga, Operation Wealth Creation or Parish Development Model. He uses whatever Micro-Money Scheme his party has prefixed as an excuse to hold rallies and be visible for the masses. That’s what he does… while others aren’t allowed to go outside their party headquarters. Meanwhile, his party and their representatives mocks the other parties for their lack of organization, well, if the were allowed. Things might have looked differently.

So, here we are and the race for 2026 begins. It has already began a long time ago. The gerrymandering, the schemes and the actions done to secure Museveni majority. He will have the mandate where it counts. His men are all in office and will serve to his whims. People will jump when he says so. The security organizations and security details are prepared to silence his critics. They will not be allowed. There is the correct line and no one else should budge. That is the reality here.

That’s why the NRM could hold such a rally, seeing supporters across the city and being so visible. If others did, well, the security organizations would stop it and arrest “hoodlums” or “whatnots” from the streets. That is what we know and we will see it the moment Bobi Wine starts to campaign. There is two different nations.

One nation under Museveni and one under oppression. God doesn’t fit into the equation, as the prayers to him won’t save you from the guns and glamour. No, they are coming for you and if you disobey. You should have kept it to yourself and remained silent. The ones daring to question, organize or even think twice. Well, NRM and their Law Enforcement will act with swift haste like there is no tomorrow.

Seriously, the President can sometimes act like an Opposition figure, but he has been in power for close to 40 years now. He has been in office since 1986 and his still counting. There is no end to his reign, but everything has end, regardless of the wishes of the old man. He might overpowered everyone in the bush and clings on with the mercy of the guns. Those guns won’t always be there and the moment the centre folds. That’s when he loses it all. A mutiny and a possible lack of trust between the brasses of the army. That’s when he has lost it. However, we never know if this scenario will come our way.

That’s why we just have continue like nothing. Nothing new under the sun. The NRM acts like Gods and we, the rest is mere mortals. We can just away mercy and hope for redemption, while they enjoys all the perks of life. Therefore, don’t expect glory, but expect Museveni to prolong the agony just a little bit longer. Peace.
