Zimbabwe: The state of murder – the case of Tapfumanei Masaya…

Our Change Champion, Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya, who was abducted in Mabvuku while campaigning, has been found dead. They recalled a legitimately elected MP of Mabvuku, Hon. Kufa. Today, this has cost an innocent life. He shall have justice” (Gift Ostallos Siziba, 13.11.2023).

I am devastated to learn about the abduction and murder of pro-democracy activist Tapfumanei Masaya. Since the disputed August 23rd elections, cases of adductions of opposition activists have increased. This must stop, abductions, and torture are crimes against humanity. Sadly, the Zimbabwe Republic Police will not do anything. I am tired of calling for thorough investigation by the state because it will never happen. Our country is bleeding, and I feel helpless as I continue to see my fellow activists killed week in week out without anything I can do. I am devastated, to say the least” (Youngerson Yahwe Matete, 13.11.2023).

The illegal & fraudulent recalls of our elected members have resulted in the death of our change champion, Tapfumanei Masaya. He was abducted and disappeared by the regime in Harare three days ago, only to be found dead at Pangula farm today. We demand the police to investigate this heinous crime and bring the perpetrators to justice” (CCC, 13.11.2023).

A well known activist and organizer for the Citizens Coalition For Change (CCC) was abducted over the weekend, but by late Monday it is revealed or confirmed that his dead. This is Bishop Tapfumanei Masaya who lost his life working for the CCC.

The only “crime” Bishop Masaya did was to be associated and work tirelessly for the CCC. A CCC that works to regain the recalled seats in Parliament. It is there where the Bishop’s work comes in. As he was a vocal activist and organizer, who worked for the party. A party needs the likes of Masaya to be vibrant and get a foothold in the communities.

This shows how the regime under President Mnangagwa operate. They are willing to not only abduct and torture civilians who happens to support the opposition. No, the ZANU-PF of 2023 are willing to kill and silence the ones they feel is too loud. That’s what the PFee is willing to do and they will make up stories after the fact.

We cannot imagine what Masaya went through before his final demise. There been pictures of others who has been tortured and released after the fact. Those have really severe wounds and would suffer for a long time after the devious acts was done on them. However, they took it even a step further and murdered a man.

We don’t know how they murdered Masaya… and for some reason… it doesn’t matter. The state and the authorities will not tell or will make up porkies. They will not take the blame or responsibility. No, they will make this into a “cold” case and hope people forget. Just another person who had to die and who had to suffer the consequences of being aligned with the opposition. That’s all it took and he paid the ultimate price – with his life and no one should do that over any sort of political activism. However, the ZANU-PF don’t mind and will downplay it. We can await the storm and the sort of peddling deceits to look clean. That’s what is up and no one should be shocked by it.

It is just tragic and it shows the sinister side of ZANU-PF. This is who they are and what they do to stay in power. Peace.

Opinion: Odonga Otto wants to be crowned king…

My decision to contest was triggered by unending corruption, tribalism, sectarianism, and nepotism in the country. We also have poor facilities in the health and transport sectors, and a poor political space with no real democracy” – Samuel Odonga Otto, former Aruu County MP

It is now official that Samuel Odonga Otto is standing for the Presidency in the 2026 under the banner of the newly formed party – Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP). As a former MP he was a part of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) for years until 2021. When the FDC fielded another candidate against him. He had been elected as an MP since 2001 and fell out with the party after 20 years.

Now his been “independent” and wasn’t re-elected for the fifth time. He stood at the time in 2021 for the Uganda Economic Party, but didn’t succeed to get elected. The last time he tried was in Aruu South County and tried to fight it in the courts, but they uphold the victory of another candidate. Meaning he was without an office and without the opportunity to serve in the 11th Parliament.

This will all be done to serve the interests of Odongo Otto. He is now making himself a leader of his own created party. If there is a place or people will gather around it. That’s another matter. His an alternative, but he couldn’t get popular enough to regain his seat. After he has been representing there for 20 years.

That means people was tired of games and lack of commitment. Yes, he has been controversial and stood tall in some of his principals. But there is a reason why he lost by 5,000 votes. People didn’t accept his mediocrity and lack of delivery. They had trusted him, time and time again. He had allied himself Besigye and the FDC. However, in 2021 he was defiant against the FDC and the National Unity Platform (NUP). Which was another reason for his downfall.

Odonga Otto can be voice and can be a loudmouth. His been savvy enough politically to win races four times. However, that has been in one district and one county. That hasn’t been nationwide and neither is he a beloved character of any kind. His just a man who has fought and been loud about critical questions when they arise. However, as a legislator… I cannot remember him doing anything substantial or partake in any amendment that made a difference. And he was there since 2001 up to 2021.

This man should have done something and should have made more of himself than a name. However, that was clearly enough. The former MP wants the title, but he won’t get it. He will be a briefcase party with a cool logo. However, we can wonder if he will have a platform, manifesto or a program worth listening too.

This is a vanity project and it’s bound to fail. Peace.

Opinion: Braverman MP you will not be missed…

I am afraid to say—and I will come to a close soon—that that is why it was a central purpose of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, now an Act, to properly empower the police in face of the protests, yet Opposition Members voted against it. Had Opposition Members in the other place not blocked these measures when they were in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, the police would have already had many of the powers in this Bill and the British people would not have been put through this grief. Yes, I am afraid that it is the Labour party, the Lib Dems, the coalition of chaos, the Guardian-reading, tofu-eating wokerati and, dare I say, the anti-growth coalition that we have to thank for the disruption we are seeing on our roads today. I urge Opposition MPs and Members of the other place to take this second chance, do the right thing, respect the rights of the law-abiding majority and support this Bill” – Suella Braverman MP (18.10.2022).

It was about time… not that she had the credentials or the ability to govern properly. Neither did see seem fit, but for the Conservative Party (Tories) at the moment. That doesn’t matter as long as you are following party line and “not rocking the boat”.

Suella Braverman MP on the other hand rather create chaos, scandals and drama, which became her end. She went against the protocol and was sacked. Refused to follow the codes and principals. Though we have seen to a lesser extent the values of these of late, as the Nolan Principal has fallen short plenty of times under the years of the Tories. They just want Labour and others to comply, but themselves will deny…

Braverman was controversial and she made her own bed. She had to sleep in it, as she excelled in rhetoric beneath the Kingdom. Showing the dark side of the far right and how they are willing to vilify immigrants or refugees. That’s what she was committed too and continued the dangerous path of Priti Patel MP. These two has both served in this regard and shown how they can become despicable to the general public.

The Home Secretary just showed how she could blatantly disregard people and plan to use vicious means to deter any sort of migration to the British Islands. That was here objective and she clearly didn’t think it had any consequences. Since he was feeding the base and being a populist at that. Neither has she much else to prove for…

She has been the Home Secretary twice and been a troublemaker ever since enter these offices. There nothing good coming from here and she surely will not be missed. As a backbencher MP she will be defiant, but everyone knows what she’s about and seemingly with a lack of heart too. There is little to no compassion or concern for others. This is the sort of politician that would trade her own kin and kind, just so she can live lavish and have a bountiful existence at the August House. That’s what her kind does and it is revolting.

Her time in office will be remembered for trying to stop demonstrations, using force and being intimidating. There is nothing else but hostility and fear. That’s what she has brought to the table. Together with draconian laws and means to an end. A way of ensuring people’s silence and the drive to further create distance between people. Instead of fostering dialogue and possible platforms for people to talk. She would instead send people to Kigali or find measures to sink boats before they leave for the British Isles. That’s the sort of person she is and that’s how we will remember her. Peace.
