Sudan: Sudanese Congress Party – Statement on the signing of the short-term ceasefire agreement and humanitarian arrangements sharply (21.05.2023)

Yesterday evening, Saturday, May 20, 2023, an agreement was signed for a short-term ceasefire and humanitarian arrangements between the Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which provides for a seven-day renewable cessation of hostilities with oversight mechanisms and specific commitments that guarantee addressing the catastrophic humanitarian conditions resulting from the war.

We in the Sudanese Congress Party welcome this important step in the way of reducing the suffering of our people as a result of the accursed war of April 15, 2023, and we call on the leaders of the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces to fully adhere to it, and to move forward in peaceful, negotiated solutions, in order to reach a permanent ceasefire and a political process. Resumes the path of civil democratic transformation, and we commend the efforts of the Saudi-American initiative, and we appeal to the international community and humanitarian organizations to coordinate efforts in order to provide and deliver food, medicine and logistical aid, as Sudan is on the brink of a real humanitarian catastrophe.

Our people lived safe, free and victorious

Opinion: Mzee isn’t a voice of reason…

Many of the people who are being urged to be patient for two years are buckling under the weight of a very high cost of living. Most of them can hardly put a decent meal on the table or meet the costs of education, healthcare, utilities and rent. It must, therefore, hurt that provisions are being made for a makeover of the President’s wardrobe when so many people are really struggling. Parliament has not listened to the voices of the masses. This, therefore, calls for the intervention of the person for whom we are providing; he does not need the provisions. Only his voice can help end such wasteful expenditure” (Daily Monitor – Editorial – ‘Museveni’s voice required to end wasteful expenditure’ 21.05.2023).

I don’t know what the Editor of Daily Monitor thought when he or she wrote today’s piece. However, to say it is utter garbage is just a mere fact. The ideals and the thought that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni would be the voice of reason in 2023 is absurd.

To believe that a man who has built a vast entourage, duplicated institutions and created a bloated government. Will ever… ever ever… be concerned about public expenditure. A man who needs confidential budget post and lack of oversight. A man who spends money like no tomorrow and hope that someone else will capture the fiscal shortfall. That he can either get a donor or a loan to cover the deficits.

Therefore, reading this text… how naive are you? Have you seen how many districts that has been created since 1986? Have you seen how many MPs that been added in the recent years?

Or have you missed that or isn’t obvious to the fact. It isn’t connected and part of the plot. That a man has created government units, institutions and commissions that are cross-checking each other. While his busy eating, investing and ensuring the future of his own grand-kids. Seriously, the proof is in the pudding.

That’s why the State House and the Office of the President got vast funds. This is why the UPDF and Ministry of Defence has massive budgets. That’s why the Police Force is well funded. Because, if the security detail isn’t paid and isn’t in order. Well, then the grand corruption and the heist of the state cannot continue on the “low”. It is low hanging fruits, but certainly edible.

Only his voice can help end such wasteful expenditure” (Daily Monitor, 21.05.2023).

He will come with words of fire and fury, but it won’t amount to anything. That’s why we are seeing thieves getting away, but the pickpockets are lingering behind bars. The President knows and he knows of various of schemes. He knows who is “investing” and who is “benefiting”. It is his system after all. Therefore, believing this man will be a reasonable dude in 2023… Please… get your mind correct. Please and do it fast.

Enough nonsense. The 1986 brigade got enough “yes-men” and paid microphones to defend its cause. I didn’t think I would see that in the Daily Monitor. However, that is where we are. This piece belong in the New Vision. Not in the Daily Monitor… Peace.

Opinion: Uncle Roger banned in China…

Well, Nigel Ng or Uncle Roger, the Malaysian comedian have now been cancelled in China. That comes after a video for a show that is about get released on June 4th has sparked controversy in Beijing. No one should be shocked or anything.

This is practically routine in China. The banning and blocking of “unfriendly” content is supreme. The internet and the social media is all monitored. Therefore, it was a miracle it lasted this long for Uncle Roger. A man who speaks, thinks and talks like that in public was bound to fall out with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Sooner or later he would say the “wrong” thing or act a fool. Which would cost him his strips, the ability to promote or even have shows in China. That the Weibo account is now suspended and his losing possibly out on the Chinese market wouldn’t be surprising either. No matter if he cracked jokes on the expense of Taiwan in the same breath as making a mockery of Chinese rules or regulations.

The gig stays the gig. Uncle Roger’s fried rice isn’t for everyone. Neither is Aunty Esther either. Certainly, someone haven’t bought a rice-cooker and low sodium soy-sauce in a dish. Nevertheless, the truth still remains.

Never ever offend Xi Jinping or the CCP, if you want to do business or be able to hold shows in China. That is just a mere fact and Uncle Roger dared to do so. Even if it was satire and easy skits about reality. This is apparently to much for the Chinese authorities to handle.

Yes, some might call these jokes sensitive or “racists”. I have seen that, but jokes tend to go on the narratives or in the manner of generalization. If you want total “culture friendly” jokes… you will not find good satire or fun for that matter. It will be grim, soft and be so censored your heart, mind and spirit will leave your body. Therefore, someone need grow some balls and understand the craft.

There been others wanting him to joke or mock Malaysian politics. Maybe Uncle Roger should and not only sell MSG. However, that is up to him and what he chooses as a person. That the Chinese Authorities does this only shows their heavy hands and how they operate. There is little to no wiggle room for any sort of expression. Except for the expressions fitting the stories of the party.

The CCP and Xi Jinping only looks smaller by doing this. By cancelling him over a small video, which is released before a final release date. This is giving Uncle Roger lots of publicity and talk of China at the same time. It is free publicity for the comedian. While other will wonder why China bothered…

Well, the CCP is censoring and monitoring the web, online and social media with an iron-fist. Now the same hand whopped Uncle Roger. Surely, Nigel Ng will be fine and possibly has calculated that this would happen.

However, no matter how foolish this all is… a joke is a joke and if you cannot stomach a joke. Please, just change the channel. Peace.

Opinion: Minister Mwaba in a twisted entanglement…

The Minister of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education (EPST) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Tony Mwaba Kazadi has impregnated his Deputy Minister, Aminata Namasia, saying it was “accidental”. Tony and Aminata have reportedly been working together for some time, which led to both of them developing feelings for each other, despite both being married. A DRC journalist, Lungila John had taken to the Twitter to reveal the affair between both officials that have resulted into pregnancy” (Alex Enemanna – ‘DRC: Minister ‘Accidentally’ Impregnates Deputy’ 19.05.2023, link: https://abntv.com.ng/news/drc-minister-accidentally-impregnates-deputy/).

Tony Mwaba and Aminata Namasia are the “senior” and “junior” ministers. They are working together in the same Ministry and are colleges. Apparently, they have captured each others eyes and possibly “caught feelings”. Since there reports of a baby on the way.

This means the two has met outside of the office and had some intimate moments. What is more striking is that this has been done in the dark. They are both married and high ranking officials. Still, they didn’t mind and showed their introgression. Some might just call this a “personal” or “family” problem. However, this is involving government work and becomes public because of their offices.

These two love-birds didn’t get impregnated by “accident”. A man don’t stick it in by mere coincidence. No, this was a consensual act and a deed done on “purpose”. You don’t go to bed with each other without prior knowledge. You have gotten a “go-ahead” and a “heads-up” before pulling down your trousers. Let’s just be real.

I don’t believe this was a “one-off” drunken escapade. These two was working together and knew their work schedule. These two could easily find means and time for each other. Meaning they was thrilled and exited for the next rendezvous.

It is fine that people find love and have to pleasure of doing so. That is a way of life and getting a kid is the same. Nothing directly wrong in that. However, there are moral and code of conduct in the offices they are part of. As Ministers, they have to keep the state of affairs under wraps and also be morally astute. Nevertheless, it didn’t seem to pay them no mind.

They were busy being bedmates and enjoy the sweet lust. These two didn’t mind possibly destroying not only their reputation. Their names, but also destroying their families. Because, they where unfaithful to their spouses. They acted in disregard to the ones at home. Instead of going home and being good partners. These two found a “safe-haven” between themselves.

Now the Minister and Deputy Minister has to make some choices. They are clearly bound to be connected for life. That is happening because there is a baby on the way. Certainly, this is not a good look on the wife of Mwaba or the husband of Namasia. However way you cut this….

It wasn’t an accident. You don’t pull the trigger or take a shot under the covers without any preconditions. That is false… and only excuses. These two are grown and mature enough to know this. Peace.

Sudan emergency: One million now displaced in ongoing conflict (19.05.2023)

Over one million people have now been recorded as displaced, within Sudan or to neighboring countries.

NEW YORK, United States of America, May 19, 2023 – As heavy fighting continues in Sudan, UN humanitarians warned on Friday that more than one million people have now been forced to flee for their lives.

A wave of deadly attacks reportedly targeted West Darfur’s capital, El-Geneina, in recent days, while the UN World Health Organization (WHO) said that more than 700 people had been killed and nearly 5,300 injured nationwide, after five weeks of intense clashes and bombardment.

Over one million people have now been recorded as displaced, within Sudan or to neighboring countries,” said UNHCR Spokesperson Matthew Saltmarsh, as he issued an urgent appeal to respect the safety of civilians and to allow humanitarian aid to move freely, in line with an agreement reached by the warring parties in Jeddah, on 11 May.

Flagrant violations’ of agreement

Under that accord between the national army and rival RSF militia, both sides agreed to allow trapped civilians to leave combat zones and allow humanitarian aid to enter.

Civilians will continue to suffer unless this deal is implemented, the UNHCR spokesperson insisted, echoing UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths’s condemnation of “flagrant violations” of the humanitarian agreement:

Unfortunately, what we’ve seen in the last couple of days is continued horrendous fighting on the ground, shelling, bombing and it’s extremely important that what was committed to in Jeddah is enacted on the ground so that much needed aid can come in”.

Attacks on healthcare continue

Confirming that health facilities and health professionals have continued to be targeted since fighting broke out on 15 April, WHO spokesperson Carla Drysdale told journalists in Geneva that there have been 34 verified attacks, eight deaths and 18 injuries.

Sudan’s neighboring countries continue to be affected by the conflict, especially South Sudan, Chad, and particularly Egypt, which currently hosts the largest number of Sudanese, with 5,000 arriving every day. “That makes a total of almost 110,000 Sudanese who have entered the country, according to the Government,” said Mr. Saltmarsh.

Crowding at the borders

In South Sudan, the numbers of refugees remains high, with around 1,500 arriving per day. Those fleeing the violence use via the Renk crossing in Upper Nile State, although “the transit facility near the border is becoming perilously crowded and resources are extremely stretched”, the UNHCR official noted.

In Chad, essential relief items such as safe drinking water and blankets have been delivered to almost 10,000 families, but UN humanitarians have warned that new arrivals are stuck in remote transit sites near the border, with very limited supplies.
