Sri Lanka: Presidential Secretariat – First ship carrying 3,700 metric tonnes of gas reaches the island… (10.07.2022)

“PM Ranil Wickremesinghe has told the Party Leaders that he is willing to resign as PM and make way for an all-Party Government to take over” (Voice of Sri Lanka, 09.07.2022).
“President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has informed speaker that he will resign from the Presidency on the 13th of July 2022: Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abewardene” (Voice of Sri Lanka, 09.07.2022).
“Minister of Transport and Highways/ Minister of Mass Media Bandula Gunawardena says he would resign from ministerial portfolios and SLPP. He is to remain independent in Parliament” (Voice of Sri Lanka, 09.07.2022).
Today in Colombo there has been mostly peaceful protests. Where they have gone into official residences of the Prime Minister and the President. They also entered the Central Bank of Sril Lanka. This is all happening because the current political leaders and leadership has bankrupted the nation. They have issued loans which I cannot honour. The nation has defaulted on the loans taken outh by China, as a part of the Belt Road Initiative (BRI) and with that ceased control of Hambantota port as collateral for the loans.
The Sri Lankan government has failed and been handing the financial distress wrongly. That’s why there is fuel shortages and a rising inflation. Which is hurting the citizens pockets on the regular. They are hurting while the police elite has enjoyed the perks of life. The politicians and high ranking officials has been living in huge mansions. While the citizens couldn’t afford basic necessities. That has all happened because of the choices their leaders have taken over time.
“What is causing the problems in Sri Lanka? Let’s the identify the root causes and find solutions. Corrupt politicians, incompetent politicians are not the root cause. They are the expressions of underlying problems” (Rise Sri Lanka, 09.07.2022).
The political elite and the corrupt officials, which has reigned this system has ensured this all to happen. They have certainly caused this. The ones who has been leading the deficit financing and created the debt trap, which is now destroying the economy. The collapse of the economy is all on them. As the citizens didn’t take up the loans and they aren’t the reason for the defaulting on them. No, that’s the high ranking officials fault in all of this.
The Sri Lankan government has had unchecked corruption, reckless populism and unviable “white elephant” projects. This is the main reasons for the downward spiral of the economy. The ones to blame is the ones who is resigning, but also the rest of the Parliament who allowed it to happen. They didn’t stop or challenge the financial implications or the use of funds. No, they let it all go and now everyone has to suffer.
What is happening in Colombo and in Sri Lanka is a symbol of how the rich misuse the economy and tanks it for their own benefit. As they act as untouchable and believe in their own hype. However, the power of the people and the pressure the crowds can do. Is just tipping the scale in such a way. That their words and empty promises got nowhere to go.
The political elites of Sri Lanka shouldn’t sleep silently tonight. They should try to find a way out of this mess. They should find solutions and ensure an economic recovery. These are the ones behind it all and they should be held accountable for it. They have destroyed the island nation and now everyone has pay for it. Peace.

“Details on the ROKO bailout have emerged indicating that the planned purchase of shares by the government will also mean the government injecting operation capital as well as inheriting UGX 130 billion liability from the construction company. Experts advise government to audit ROKO Construction Ltd or risk going down with it” (NBS Television, 08.07.2022).
You know the times are hard when the construction company and engineering company is failing. A company which is dealing with government projects. This company which has been running for generations and has a long history in the Republic. However, it doesn’t mean it’s all shiny.
That’s why the company has ended up to write to the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in 2020 asking for financial assistance. As even back then the creditors was suing to get money returned. There was even written a research report back in May 2018, which stipulated the needs for budget control and more oversight over the financials of the company. That could all be reasons for it’s downfall.
ROKO is part of the system and juiced up by deals, which involves high ranking officials. Just like the Dott Services is too. That’s why the company is prominent and is alive. The company is getting favoured and named in deals like the construction of Lubowa Hospital and other profiled construction sites. Therefore, the connections and the high ranking officials are endorsing this one.
That’s maybe why it’s kept alive. Even if the financials are horrific and the results of the company is bananas. There is maybe not much liquidity or assets to begin with. It could just be a mirage and a failing enterprise with a long history. That has happened before and now the deals comes back to haunt it.
What is striking is that the company is filled with scandals not only the hospital, but the likes of the upgrade of the Parliament. Than you have other construction sites that takes years to finish and never get done. If not you have built city markets, which isn’t fitting the traders or the costumers of the traders. There is also terminations of contracts because of shoddy and late work too. So, it is not the ROKO has a clean track-record or anything.
Still, the company is able to win and get huge contracts, which is significant. The sort of wet-dream for any company to get. The sort of constructions that would be sought after and be vital for years to come. However, they are still not able to keep things sustainable. Neither are they able to pay the sub-contractors and others for their supplies. That is why they were sued back in 2020.
Now, the company is struggling and its has a lot of work to do. Like what is really going on with Lubowa and Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium? Is there any movement or was that just some fraudulent paper-work to get some dimes in the coffers?
We know they lost Pearl Marina Estate to another company. In this regard we can wonder if anything is happening with Tourism and Training Institute (UHTTI), which is supposed to be built on Nalufenya road in Jinja.
There is also side stories from 2021 stating that one of the owners of the company is hiding millions of shillings in Switzerland. If that is the case. Then the company is just as corrupt as the State House, which makes sense why they are such good partners to begin with. This whole enterprise is questionable and bailing it out. Only means that their name and practices is needed by the government. Because, they trust each other. Even when the company isn’t delivering or doing what they are obliged to do.
It is just a mess, but a mess that the State House and the NRM is proud off. It is their product and they are vouching for it. That’s why they are bailing it out. Peace.

Our brave and courageous people, we address you on this blessed day, the Day of Arafa, which will be followed by the first day of Eid Al-Adha, may God bring it back to our nation and our country while under total civil rule that puts an end to the bloody military coup in which over a hundred people were killed, thousands were injured, and hundreds were arrested. We crowned the sacrifices with the earthquake of the thirtieth of June, which shook the pillars of the coup regime to offer a fragile proposal comparable to what remained of the coup regime. June 30 march extended to cities sit-ins, continuing the growing mass revolutionary tide, through the tried and innovative peaceful revolutionary methods of our people. The sit-in was a dagger in the hearts of the enemies of the revolution, claiming of lands, roads and arenas to express the rejection of the regime. The sit-in served as a forum for revolutionary discussions, solidarity among revolutionary masses, and the exchange of revolutionary opinions on the future of the revolution and its challenges.
Aside from the negative impact on Al Jawda Hospital due to the location of the sit-in, and taking into consideration the the residents of Al-Dayum and the areas adjacent to the sit-in square and to facilitate the rituals of the blessed Eid Al-Adha, such as visitations, in addition to the decline of the decentralized revolutionary movement from various neighborhoods to a centralized and continuous form.
Therefore, we, the Khartoum City Resistance Committees Coordination, announce the lifting of Al Jawda Sit-in, and we are all confident that we will return to the weapon of the sit-ins, more organized, united, and stronger, having benefited from the experiences of the past and the practice of the present, and looking forward to the best political and field performance, toward achieving the freedom, peace, and justice aspirations of our honorable people.
