Ethiopia: The FDRE wants to profit on the needs of fertilizer to the Tigray region…

The viciousness and the usage of conflict to earn profits or consolidate power has no ends in Addis Ababa. The Prosperity Party and their allies are using the conflict beyond shadow of a doubt. While the humanitarian truce is in effect and some convoys are reaching the Tigray region. There been reports of blocking seeds and such in Afar region, as it was about to on a later stage enter Tigray. Therefore, we know the total humanitarian assistance haven’t reached it’s destination.

That’s why reading this from FAO is really alarming, as the Federal Government has ensured the man-made famine and the starvation in the region as well. That has been done because of the besieged roads into it and the blockade, which is done with the “mercy” of the state. This is why so many people in the region is suffering and has a daily plight, which we cannot imagine. The OCHA reports of late has shown that. Even with the drip-drops of entering convoys. That is still not enough to patch the hurt or the damage created by all the months of non-entry of humanitarian assistance.

That’s why reading this… you know what sort of sinister game the Prosperity Party is playing with the international community and the donors of the humanitarian assistance to the Tigray region. Just read these lines here. As we are in the middle of planting season and without seeds or fertilizers the next harvest is doomed. So, the PP is really showing their “heart” on this one.

FAO Urgent Call:

Tigray’s Meher season is just weeks away (June/July 2022). With the rainfall outlook favourable (normal to above-normal), the season offers a critical and cost-effective opportunity to improve food availability across the region. However, limited access to agricultural inputs (particularly fertilizers, but also seeds) is a major threat to the season. The Government of Ethiopia has offered humanitarian agencies access to fertilizer through a government facility to support vulnerable households in the Tigray region. As the lead agency of the Agriculture Cluster, FAO is calling for urgent funding from resource partners to enable Cluster partners to immediately secure 60 000 tonnes of fertilizer from the government facility and ensure farmers have it in-hand before the start of the season. The existing humanitarian truce offers an important opportunity to deliver inputs to Tigray” (Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) – ‘Tigray: Urgent call for assistance’ 06.06.2022).

Just imagine the millions in needs and who has been blocked for months on ends. Bank-accounts frozen, no telephones, no electricity and no food security. The same folks are now awaiting the World Food Programme and other organizations to come in and fill the void. However, it isn’t enough to air-lift or purchase the needed seeds or fertilizer. No, that has to happen locally and the PP has ensure earning currencies on it. The same folks that has blocked and besieged the region. They are now planning to profit on the misery they have created since November 2020. The PP has the nerve and the guts to do so. Because, they know the UN and their agencies will not try to pull strings or find other avenues of getting it. Since, they are living on the mercy and begging to enter to begin with.

That’s why this sort of play… only shows how vicious and sinister the PP is. They have no concern of the plight, the famine or the starvation happening in Tigray. No, they don’t pay it no mind and only wants to earn fortunes on it. Now, they are ensuring all fertilizer are provided by the state and ensuring revenue this way. While they should be lucky to get it for free in the first place and it should been a donations to the ones in need. Instead, they have to beg for funds and ensure they can reach the season. This is the preparation time and soon it’s to late.

So, it is really saying something when the FAO has to do this in June, as the planting is starting in July. Therefore, the time table is short and the strings, which is put on them is a burden too. If it had been cheap and easy. The FAO wouldn’t have come with a plea for help or the urgency of funds. That just shows how the FDRE wants to profit on the misery of their own people. Peace.

Sudan: Khartoum State Resistance Committees Coordination – The Tripartite Mechanism Invitation to Direct Negotiation with the Coup Authority (08.06.2022)

The overthrow of the coup, the victory of the revolution, and the achievement of its objectives are accomplished through the strength and unity of the revolutionary bodies resisting dictatorship, as we observe certain parties attempting to drive a wedge between our revolutionary forces, but we will not allow this to happen.

The masses of our resistant people: we, in the coordination of the resistance committees, have received an invitation from the tripartite mechanism in order to open the door for direct negotiations with the coup authorities through the negotiating table.

We said it and repeated it again and again, that there is no negotiation with the coup authorities, no negotiation over the civil state, and no partnership with the Military Council.

The top-down political solution pursued by the tripartite mechanism falls short of tackling the root causes of the conflict’s actual crisis and prevents addressing the underlying causes of the real historical problem facing our country.

We, the Khartoum State Resistance Committees, believe that the solution to the Sudanese crisis lies first in overthrowing the coup of 25 October and holding its perpetrators accountable.

That is why we refuse to sit with the leaders of the coup at one table, and we affirm that any result of this negotiation does not concern us, and we will continue to fill the streets with the steadfast masses of our people.

We also hope that the international community will stand with the Sudanese people’s ambitions and aspirations for democratic transition through the establishment of a civilian authority, rather than against it through a new partnership with the military coup authority. And that we reject the coup’s leaders who have committed horrific crimes that that are unforgivable and not subject to statute of limitations, while ensuring that we do not negotiate with the military establishment, we are determined to overthrow its leaders, thoroughly reform, and hold them accountable. We reject their participation in political life and are ready to pay the highest price possible for it.

Lastly, we call on the sons and daughters of our people to move forward and work to mobilize the capabilities and resources of our people in order to support and strengthen these choices and the continuous popular pressure to achieve them.

The Rise of the Cassava Republic: Low-Income turned into Middle-Income out-of-nowhere..

Remember, the locusts, the rising waters of the Lakes, the floating islands, the landslides, the terrorist bombs, the covid-19 and now the rising commodity prices artificially caused by the Ukrainian war. In spite of all these, the Ugandan economy, by the budget time in the next few days, will be standing at US$ 45.7billion by the exchange rate method and at USD 131.6 billion by the method. This means that the GDP per capita is now $1046. You remember, the entrance points for the lower middle-income status, is USD 1036. We have now passed that figure. Congratulations. However, to be declared a middle-income country, you need to sustain this for two to three consecutive years. I am confident, we shall over perform, in achieving that” (Museveni, 07.06.2022).

The President yesterday surely said a lot of things yesterday. I thought this one would be one of the myths and legends of old. That no one would take seriously… because the delusion is real. The powers of the State House and all of his Presidential Advisors should have told him “no”. Even the son who prefers to party and throw birthday parties should have advised him to say otherwise. Because, this is useless…

Museveni isn’t close to Middle-Income Country. Not by stretch, a mile or such. That’s because of the financial policies, the lack of financial integration and all the other means of which is a proper open economy. Alas, if it had been open and tradable, he wouldn’t have his hand in every cookie-jar. That’s why his butt-hurt that his coffee deal with Vinci is under fire. Because, no one see it as a viable enterprise or idea to begin with.

We know in a nation of hand-to-mouth, in a nation of gig-economy and 1 out of 5 is living in direct poverty. It’s hard to believe that nation is a middle-income. Heck, there isn’t even a growing middle-class either. If it had been a growing middle-class, there would be more stores and other sorts of outlets for people to buy luxurious goods. However, there hasn’t been a growth of that either.

The growing inflations, the deficit financing and the running debts of nation is proving otherwise. The state isn’t growing with domestic financing, but the budgets are bloated and covered by expensive loans. Which the next generation or the next President has to clear. Since, Museveni is possible dead when the maturity of these loans has hit peak. There is already trillions of shillings going out of the economy just to finance old loans, as the state is hiking up new one. That’s all to keep the upkeep of a huge entourage and cronies surrounding the President. With a mushroomed cabinet and gerrymandering of epic proportions, that is all costing and the amount 555 MPs says it all. They are all paid and has perks. So, the state is coving these expenses without adding any new revenue or such.

That’s why hearing a man like this saying… they have hit Middle-Income is nonsense. It is pure A QUALIFIED BS. It is utterly ridiculous. It would be funny, if it was a punchline or a joke, but he said this and meant it. Like it was fact. When the World Bank state the nation as a “Low-Income” and the budgets, the domestic revenue and everything else proves it. Maybe the lack of Governor of Bank of Uganda is haunting him. Since, he can now make things up on the spot and make it legit. There will be no push-back from the professionals… We know the MoFPED doesn’t read the papers or look over the numbers before voting on the supplementary budgets. So, the Minister of Finance is far from professional. His just eating and hoping his Permanent Secretary can save his behind.

Well… this is garbage. This is trash. We hope for betterment, but under the self-styled President for Life. I wouldn’t count on it. I would only count on cassava. Peace.
