Tanzania: State House – President Samia Woos French Investors – Says Tanzania is Open for Business (14.02.2022)

WHO has been permitted to deliver medical supplies to Tigray, Ethiopia, for the first time since July 2021, but there is no fuel to distribute them to health centres.
The supplies, which are now in storage until they can be distributed, include essential medical equipment, personal protective equipment, antibiotics, medicines for malaria and diabetes, including insulin, treatment for severe acute malnutrition, and medicines and supplies for reproductive health. Our partner, the World Food Programme (WFP), began airlifting them to Mekelle, in Tigray, on 11 February. More shipments are planned this week.
Fuel for humanitarian operations has not been allowed into Tigray since August 2021, except for two WFP trucks in November.
The lack of fuel, cash and supplies has caused humanitarian operations in Tigray to be reduced or suspended altogether, as highlighted in OCHA’s humanitarian update for Northern Ethiopia last week.
The WHO shipments, which are part of 33.5 metric tonnes of planned deliveries, still represent a small portion of what is needed. Without access to supplies, health workers are trying to continue to provide health services with almost no medicines or functioning equipment.
According to OCHA, health partners estimate the following supplies are required to meet the urgent nutrition and health needs of the people in Tigray: 2,200 metric tonnes of emergency health kits; 1.5 million doses of cholera vaccine; polio oral vaccination for 888,000 children under five years; more than 30,000 metric tonnes of nutrition supplies for the treatment of severe acute malnutrition in outpatient clinics and 100 metric tonnes for children hospitalized at stabilization centres; about 830 metric tonnes of nutrient supplements to fortify the nutrition of 1.4 million people, mainly women and children; and 15,000 metric tonnes of Vitamin A supplements.
Malnutrition rates among children and pregnant and breastfeeding women in Tigray, as well as in Amhara and Afar, remain alarmingly high. For example, nutrition screening campaigns conducted in recent months found that 71% of pregnant and breastfeeding women in Tigray were acutely malnourished. The figure in Afar was 45%, and in Amhara was 14%.
Access has been relatively easier in Amhara and Afar regions with WHO shipping 84 metric tonnes of supplies in late December 2021. WHO is planning to ship an additional 15-20 metric tonnes to Afar to meet the health needs of people recently displaced as a result of the ongoing fighting on the Tigray-Afar border.
WHO calls again for unfettered access to provide humanitarian aid in Tigray. We call for fuel to be allowed into Tigray urgently, with the support from national authorities and international partners, so that WHO and partners can meet the humanitarian needs of all Ethiopians.

This General has caused a lot stir over the years. He has clearly been a resound opposition during the years of 2013, as he revealed the “Project Muhoozi” and the plan of ushering the first son as the successor of the President. He went a year away in Exile and formed a political party Freedom and Unity Front (FUF), which he used as a vehicle in exile.
Gen. David Sejusa aka Tinyefuza aka Tinye have a huge standing in the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) as he served as army commander and also a member of High Command UPDF, the UPDF defense council and a member of parliament representing the Uganda People’s Defence Force.
Reported about his first retirement request:
“On December 3, 1996, Sejusa who was then a presidential aisor on Defence and Internal Affairs, wrote to President Museveni as commander in chief, resigning from the UPDF. “With great difficulty, I have decided to resign as a member of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces…There are several reasons but most important among those is that I feel I am unjustly being harassed over my testimony before that Parliamentary Committee…To require me to appear before the High Command so that action is taken against me is rather too high handed,” Sejusa wrote” (The Observer – ‘Retirement – Will Sejusa Have His Way This Time?’ 03.01.2015).
Reported about his second retirement request:
“Once again, it all depends on the wish of President Museveni as commander in chief. Dr Busingye Kabumba, a constitutional law lecturer at Makerere University, said in a Monday interview that legally speaking Sejusa can succeed in his quest to retire. “Gen Sejusa enjoys the right to retire or resign for as long as he follows the established procedure. But the grant of his wish is a matter that is dependent on the political reality of the time,” Kabumba said” (The Observer – ‘Retirement – Will Sejusa Have His Way This Time?’ 03.01.2015).
He has blocked his request again in 2022:
“The judges explained that the approval of the application to resign can be withheld on reasonable grounds and that the effect of not communicating the approval or disapproval of the application meant that Gen Sejusa continued to be a serving army officer. “ln practical terms, he remained the serving officer of the UPDF after the statutory 90 days and this amounted in practicaI effect, for the intervening period before he receives his or her approval or refusal of the approval, a refusal.” The Court of Appeal consequently overturned the judgment by Justice Margaret Oumo Oguli that had indicated the Gen Sejusa had been retired from the army” (Kenneth Kazibwe – ‘Government wins case to have Gen Sejusa back in army’ 14.02.2022).
The NRA Commander and insider within the National Resistance Movement who fell out with the President. Is clearly not allowed or blocked from civilian life. As he has lost his privileges in Parliament and within the UPDF. However, his still a soldier in their eyes. While Gen. Sejusa haven’t been involved or worked within the national army for years.
We know the fallout was already in 2013 and that’s 9 years ago. The General is close to 10 years in defiance of the President. The President did promise his retirement in 2019 but the Courts have clearly not allowed it. Therefore, the General is still part of UPDF to this day.
Just imagine when the Party and the Government can do this to its own. A man who was a commander and a resolute soldier in their liberation war. When they can retaliate and act this way towards him. Yes, his been an insider and has vast knowledge of how the NRA, UPDF and NRM operated. As he was a trusted army commander and he did excel in his role. However, his still a person who has his rights and is justified to retire.
The reason for not doing is, as simple as if he speaks or utter words of defiance he can be challenged in Court Martial and be seen as treasonous. It would like his mutineer and going against the army, which he happens to represent. Even if he hasn’t been in command or held an office within it for years. That’s the only reason for this quagmire and lack of results.
It’s tragic, but it’s like the saying:
“Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer”. That’s evident here and it’s all in the open for the whole word to digest. Peace.

Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. the son of the dictator of the Philippines who is running for Presidency in the upcoming elections. Him and his team decided on the proclamation rally to play the Martsa ng Bagong Lipunan anthem, which was a propaganda tool of his father and was played on the regular on the TV before the National Anthem. Therefore, this is distasteful and disgraceful.
Bong Bong Marcos already have to answer for the plunder and the looting of the state, which his father did and the vast wealth his family does have. Where he haven’t answered for this or been concerned about it even. Just like we know BBM haven’t been in favour or ever celebrated EDSA. This man rather forget the People’s Revolution and the fall of the dictatorship of his father. That seems to be clear now that he plays the song on the official start of his campaign on the 8th February 2022.
This is not a sign of leadership by Bong Bong, but instead of praise of what his father did. If you want to signal to the world that you prefer the achievements of your father and his legacy. Bong Bong did what finesse on the 8th February 2022. He maybe thought he gave the people a little of nostalgia and an anthem of remembrance. However, BBM failed with this one here… unless he wants a new martial law and be an image of his father.
It is weird writing this in 2022 but it is needed. As this sort of thing shouldn’t happen. It shouldn’t be necessary, but instead it is clear that someone has to call it out. This is not righteous and a move of wisdom. If Bong Bong wanted to distance from the legacy of his father and prove that he is his own man. He should maybe stand his ground and build up his own charismatic figure. Instead, he seemingly want to live on the “glory” of the “old days” with his father.
BBM lived a life of lavish times during his father reign. There was nothing he couldn’t do or couldn’t get. Maybe he wishes the times was as golden and riches would continue to run into his accounts. However, the plight and the suffering of Martial Law for the citizens wasn’t something people want to repeat. There was a reason for the popular revolution against his father and the heroes who are now celebrated every year.
That’s why BBM shows his mind and what he believes in. When he and his team decided to play Bagong Lipunan anthem. Just to remind the Filipino nation of the dark days of the Martial Law. As the songs and anthem is about the “New Society” his father aspired for. While other people suffered under his reign.
BBM and his team is showing their hearts. It is showing what they believe in and what they stand for by their actions. This shows us all why BBM haven’t cared for EDSA. As he launches himself with a new remix of the anthem of the martial law. That shows what he stands for and what he believes in.
Indirectly showing that he praises his father and his choices, by playing his songs and God knows what the next he does. Maybe he starts taking slogans and policies, which is ushering more of the dictatorship of his father.
The son should know better… but that’s too much to ask, apparently. He just wants to bash in the glory of his father and thinks that is a splendid way of notifying the world of his candidacy for Presidency. Peace.
