Kampala Twin Bombs: Insecurity is a real problem in the Republic

Today’s twin bombs in the Central Business District of Kampala continues after two incidents in October. On the 23rd October a pig-joint or restaurant was bombed. Days later a suicide bomber hit a Swift Bus. Therefore, what is happening today is a continuation of the insecurity in the Republic.

Today in the CBD, the was first a bomb at the Kooki Tower across from the Central Police Station on Buganda Road not far from the City Square or Constitutional Square. This is really hitting the central and just being of from the Kampala Road. To hit a place like this says it all. This is a deliberate attack. Not a random pork-joint like the one in Komamboga in Kawempe Division in late October.

The second target today was Jubilee House or Jubilee Insurance Building off Parliament Avenue. It is nearer Kimanthi Avenue. A small stroll up “the hill” to get to into the Parliament. So, this is in the middle of it too.

The Police Spokesperson CP. Fred Enanga has in a press conference already claimed that the Allied Defence Force (ADF) is behind the twin bombs. The CCTV cameras has caught one suicide bomber at the CPS and two other who drove boda-boda’s on Parliament Avenue to detonate themselves there. That’s the knowledge we have for now, but just what we know.

Fatwe Solutions reports in addition to this:

Confirmed bomb threat in Katooke B, Nansana municipality. The suspected bomb was abandoned in a house by a man currently known as Mowzey. Eye witnesses say the man was shot ‘abandoned plan’ assailants sped off and he rushed to hospital abandoning bomb in a house” (Fatwe Solutions, 16.11.2021).

So, there might easily be more. When the state goes this early claiming it’s ADF. It is worrying and spreading fear. While the authorities claimed it was ADF in October 2021 too. However, only arresting people, but later releasing them. As they had no evidence or case against these possible people. That’s what usually tend to happen…

This insecurity should worry anyone. The people should be worried how quickly the Uganda Police Force went out with knowledge and stating who is behind it. Yes, the public wants to know and needs to know. Nevertheless, shouldn’t there be a longer investigation and find out who is behind it. See the evidence, the bomb technicians and detectives, if not the intelligence community and Joint Security Taskforce should be on this. However, why do they need to be? When the UPF already know right after the incident.

That is why I would be concerned here. Yes, the ADF or ADF-NALU isn’t an organization or militia that is innocent. No, they are guerrillas who has killed within the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). They are Islamists and claims to be connected to ISIS. Therefore, they are a viable target and connected to a international terror organization.

Still, with that in mind, it is not like Enanga or the UPF is trustworthy source. Recent statements from the same source was intelligence of planned riots and demonstrations by the opposition. That follows the same patterns of the opposition burning down petrol-stations. So, just days after those stern warnings…

The ADF attacks and it just a couple of weeks apart from the Komamboga or Swift Bus bombs. Now, three more suicide bombers have attacked Kampala. This time in the CBD and within the spectrum of power. That’s why the CBD become closed off and people dispersed from the area. The buildings hit is just 15 minutes walk apart of 6 minutes by a vehicle.

This is worrying and we should be. These levels of insecurity isn’t a sign of peace or strength. The Joint Security Taskforce should be vigilant and not only ask the citizens to be the same. The authorities should use the same amount of energy to secure the liberty and freedom of the people. As they are using their manpower to apprehend opposition activists and leaders.

We can only pray now and hope the truth will come out. Innocent lives was taken today. Plenty more was hurt and damaged by the bombs. Lives ruined and some people who will forever be touched by what happened. This is tragic and no one should ever live through this. No matter who is behind it. It needs to be addressed and justice being served to people targeted by them.

There is a need for a investigation, trials and charges on the people behind the suicide bombers. That is what the state needs to do. They need to prove the allegations of ADF and also catch the ones who did the operation and organized the missions. This is what the citizens needs and then the authorities actually does their work and not only monitor the movements of Bobi Wine. Peace.

Ethiopia: Conflicting reports, but the TDF is far from Mille in Afar region

There is rumours and speculations, also lots of fake news circulating. That’s why I have stated that the TDF is advancing and unconfirmed reports of territory taken either by the Tigray Defense Force or Oromo Liberation Army (OLA). Since, trustworthy sources and credible reports is hard to go by. As well, as the round-up of civilians of both ethnicities combined with communications blockades in the zones of conflict. Doesn’t make it easier to access any information.

Not like the Afar Regional State Office is busy updating the general public. They are not active like the Addis Ababa state information desk or Amhara Communications for that matter. The Afar region is less accessible and therefore, the news from the scars.

However, after reflect and checking for 48 hours. The TDF is still fighting hard to gain territory in Chifra area and around Bati. That is far from Mille and the strategic town, which closes the A1 Highway, which is vital for the imports to the land-lock Republic and the port of Djibouti is where most of the trucks goes through.

To take Mille would be a victory and a way of besieging Addis Ababa without being close. As it closes international transports of trucks. This could stop the imports and the exports from Djibouti. That would hurt the economy can could cause massive damage to the Federal Government. This is why the TDF and their allies wants to claim control of it early. Everyone with a brain understands that.

Even in Mid-July 2021 there was reports that this main-cargo was a target for the TDF. We are now in Mid-November 2021 and after months of fighting. The battles for this far from over it seems. As this would be a important victory and a symbolic one too.

We know the state has used the Afar Regional Special Forces and the Republican Guards has participated in the defence of the region. While these has not only to defend against the TDF. They have also been attacked from the opposite side by the Issa-Somali militia from Djibouti. Therefore, they have been strategic about their combats and stopped them in their tracks here.

The ones wanting the war quickly over wants Mille to be taken quickly. That’s because of the cargo and the damage it does to the Federal Democratic Republic. While some says it would be done to open the siege of the Tigray region itself and let UN convoys actually able to get in. However, none of these things can be verified, but is mere speculations as we speak. Nevertheless, the taking of Mille would cost a lot for the ruling government and the national army. That’s why they are defending it with such importance.

So, today on the 15th November 2021. The TDF is attacking Afar region in two parts. This is happening in Chifra area and in the Bati Area. It is hard to know anywhere else and how it is going. However, by all estimations and reports. The TDF is far away from Mille for now. They might get there and wanting to achieve that. Still, it is far from over and they have lots of land to pass to get there. Peace.

Sudan: Sudanese Professionals Association – Statement on the practices of the Central Council of the Forces of Freedom and Change (15.11.2021)

The so-called Central Council of the Forces of Freedom and Change issued an unfortunate statement yesterday, November 14, 2021, confirming its complete disconnection from reality and the pulse of the street and the revolutionary forces resisting the putschists, and it shows their rush to return to the partnership of killers without scruples or conscience.

We must clarify the following:

– The Sudanese Professionals Association did not participate in the meeting that the statement of the so-called Central Council talked about, which practices confusion and outright lies by using the group’s name in the statement for suspicious and misleading purposes that undermine everything said about their learning the lesson or their eligibility to work with the forces of the revolution.

The positions of the gathering of professionals are announced in the official forums of the gathering and its documented page, and it stands at the heart of the forces of the revolution that reject any compromise or going back.

The position of the Sudanese Professionals Association on the so-called Central Council of the Forces of Freedom and Change to withdraw its recognition of this council has been documented and announced since July 25, 2020, this council and the forces affiliated with it separated the line of the revolution and the revolutionary forces and got involved in a flawed partnership with the revolutionaries in the hope of distributing positions and obtaining privileges that did not end with the revolution and the goals of the Sudanese people in anything, and it is still playing its games in dividing the forces of the revolution.A nd attempts to use it to pass his subservient and treacherous agenda to the aspirations and struggles of our people.

– The assembly’s position on the putschists is public, and it is their complete rejection, and the only way is to overthrow them and establish the full transitional civil national authority emanating from the revolutionary forces that adhere to the goals of radical change and the glorious December revolution. We are not part of any calls for settlement or going back, but rather we consider it a despicable betrayal of the people’s revolution and aspirations.

The Sudanese Professionals Association calls for the formation of a broad revolutionary front to overthrow the criminal military council coup. And the establishment of the transitional civilian national authority pure of the revolutionary forces committed to their clear allegiances (no negotiation, no participation, no bargaining), a protected front against kidnapping, forgery and regression, in which the roles of the grassroots revolutionary forces are complemented by the resistance committees in the neighborhoods and the Furqan and the union forces of professionals and workers.

The artisans, farmers, and demands are a front that does not deviate from the path of radical change and the goals of the December revolution in breaking with the covenants of oppression and exploitation, and establishing a state of citizenship, rights, complete freedom, sustainable peace and comprehensive justice.
