Opinion: Oulanyah should address his master

There were accusations of repressive police action against these people who are calling for violence. The people who call for these have taken it publicly not privately in the media and in the newspapers. Nobody is talking about them. It is possible for us to weigh the whole picture and say anybody who calls for violence must be reprimanded?” – Speaker Jacob Oulanyah

The 11th Parliament Speaker Oulanyah lashed out at the European Union (EU) delegation at a meeting recently. The speaker must take the EU for fools and the whole Republic as well. The monopoly of violence is controlled by the state. The state has the security agencies, the army and the police force at it’s beacon.

It was the state that ordered the soldiers on the streets. Oulanyah knows this and he can blame the opposition. Like he does here and think the unarmed civilians are calling for “violence”. That is neither here nor there. In the matter of this republic, the one man who calls and address things with vengeance are the President.

President Museveni speaks ill and viciously about destroying his opponents. The President isn’t a man of peace, but another war-lord. The EU should know this and if they don’t… they should research about his history and CV. Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) lives on intimidation, fear and using the arms against dissidents. That’s why they have to vilify them and make them evil. Even when it’s the state that is abducting, arresting, torturing and extra judicial-killing them. Still, the EU should believe that this isn’t the whole picture.

In the last two elections it has been enough to be either associated with the “Defiance” or be for the “We are Removing a Dictator”. If you participated, was active or a member of either campaigns… you would be met with force or possibly loose everything. The authorities will go after you and everyone in your near proximity if they have too. That’s why Oulanyah must think the world is stupid at this point.

The state has used ungazetted safe-houses,Nalufenya and SIU Kireka to mention a few over the years to oppress the opposition. These locations and institutions would exist, if the state didn’t value them. Neither would it be to build anotehr maximum prison to ensure more people can be detained. As Luzira wasn’t big enough. That’s why the authorities are made to silence critics and they do it with huge enforcement.

The speaker can claim the others speaks of violence, but it’s not proven. When the main objective of the previous big opposition leaders has been a “peaceful transition” from the current one. That is not a violent revolution or anarchy. No, they are seeking peace and the aftermath of the ones in-charge now.

It is like Oulanyah and the Movement is so busy scheming. That they cannot hold their ducks in a row. They know these sorts of stories is not true. The EU should just read upon and seek guidance elsewhere. Because, this is just false. Violence just appear when the government entities are involved or ambushing opposition gatherings/meetings and such. It is not like it happens on it’s own. That violence are ordered from the high above and the ones in command. Not some random stranger or citizens from the ghetto. No, this is the Movement and all of the gentlemen in power.

Oulanyah is a loyal soldier for the cause and for His Excellency (H.E.). That why he speaks like this, but doesn’t make it true. It only shows that he serves a purpose and his a useful tool for his majesty. Peace.

Opinion: Mzee when is your birthday?

Yesterday, the authorities, the handlers and all the “Yes-Men” was celebrating President Yoweri Tibuhurwa Kaguta Museveni. However, the 15th September birthdate is a new creation. Not long ago the same man was celebrated on the 15th August. The President has also registered different birth years as well, this being 1944 and 1946. Therefore, he is surely toying around with this.

That’s why it’s hard to celebrate his birthday. He deleted all evidence early in his reign and has since then created his own narrative. The stories of his parents and their existence is all on his memory. Also on the stories and old articles. The origin is also changing just like he has a new name to every single election. So in 2026 expect him to have a new name and for a new reason.

What is clear that the President has done this all deliberately. That’s why I have written about this before, because the documentation on the wedding certificate from 1973 has other dates than on the birth certificate to Muhoozi Kainerubaga from 1974. This is alone putting everything into question and that the man cannot keep his ducks in a row. When he did in this 1970s… what is he able to do when he is in power?

That you can think for yourself. He has been in power since 1986 and has several of times changed things. That’s why he even needed an second edition of “Sowing the Mustard Seed” to revise the stories of the past. This is the sort of man he is and this is why it’s a manufactured date.

We can even look further back and early 2010s on social media. Public accounts and some radio stations was even joking that he was born in 1924 and was already 90 years old in 2012. That says it all really. His age, birthday and everything is natural to question.

Museveni have made this possible and he knows why he did this. He has deleted his past and recreated his own legend. That makes him more puff and glory, because his not proud of his origin. Neither, does he want the truth out. That is why he has manufactured it and it’s dumb.

That’s why it isn’t natural to celebrate his birthday. It is just a hand-picked day and a fixed story, which is based on a lie. This is not the fact or the reality. We cannot know and he has made this happen.

The President was born one day and should have a birthday. Every single person has a DOB. What we do know is that it’s politics and importance when and when. That’s because it is about legality or ability to stand as a candidate. This is why he has to alter this … and change it to make sense. However, at some point the truth will come out and the records from the past will resurface. Unless, he burned them all and destroyed it, as it was reported by others that he did early years of his reign. Peace.

Opinion: You know something is wrong when Asmara and Addis sends similar memo’s to the world

The prolonged “Law Enforcement Operation” or “Training Exercise” in Tigray region is really showing the sinister part of the ruling regimes in Ethiopia and in Eritrea. They are both working together in a tripartite alliance. Where the armies of Ethiopia, Eritrea and Amhara militias working endlessly to end Tigray Defence Force (TDF). That has been a mission and goal since early November 2020.

Now we are in September 2021 and their messages are still getting across. Where both Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and his Prosperity Party is promising “liberty, freedom and saving the nation from terrorists”. While his alliance and allies are starving one part of the Republic. They are targeting the ethnic group and even closing their businesses an-mass. There is no end of the oppression and targeting the possible dissidents in the Republic. Any use of the state is only for the war-effort and to silence the people who dares to challenge the current dear leader.

That’s why it’s striking that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Shabait) actually sounds like Amhara Communications, Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) and even Fana Broadcasting Company. They are copying each other and the script is now the same. There is no difference between the reasoning or the rhetoric. That should be evident and shows how these are in cahoots to end and annihilate Tigrayans. While they dismiss any report or article, which isn’t following the propaganda of the state.

Shabait dropped a statement called: “48 HRC Session – Item two: Enhanced Interactive Dialogue on the Situation of human rights in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia; 13 September 2021” (Shabait, 14.09.2021).

If you have followed Ethiopian government friendly media and government accounts on social media over the last few months. It was like reading photo-copy and the same songs. They are copying the verses and even the hooks. There is no difference and even the tone is the same.

When Shabait states: “It is important to reiterate again that the OHCHR does not remain ambivalent on the misguided action that has emboldened the TPLF clique to resort to military adventures as well as on the real threats it continues to pose to the national security of Ethiopia as well as Eritrea. It is essential for the OHCHR to recognize the fact that the defunct TPLF clique constitutes the main cause and sole culprit in the crisis situation” (Shabait, 14.09.2021).

This could have been published on any of the mentioned sites or accounts. I have seen similar attacks on the UN organization and other foreign entities reporting within Tigray region. They are just the one who comes with reports and states how the humanitarian aid is delivered there. The OHCHR is impartial and independent of all actors in the conflict. Still, Shabait is sounding like the Ethiopian counterparts and comes with no evidence like it usually does. Always massive claims, but nothing substantial to prove it. It is also striking that the defunct TPLF clique is able to stagnate over three armies and all of it’s military expertize since November 2020.

Shabait continues: “The enhanced interactive dialogue on the Tigray Region of Ethiopia under discussion thus remains unfair; undermining the responsibility of sovereign Governments to take appropriate deterrent action while appeasing the TPLF criminal clique. This practice will corrode the inherent right to self-defense of sovereign nations; the common understanding on the constitutional duty of governments to mitigate imminent threats to their national security, and the need to fight terrorism wherever and whenever they occur. Above all, it perpetuates terrorism and anarchy while undermining the capabilities and obligations of sovereign states to maintain and safeguard the rule of law” (Shabait, 14.09.2021).

It is rich of a interfering nation on another’s behalf talking of “self-defense” of “sovereign nation”. When they are embattled and directly participating in warfare in Ethiopia. It is not like this is Eritrea’s conflict. They are partaking it and on behalf of Addis Ababa. The whole peace-agreement between Ethiopia-Eritrea seems more like a war-pact. Since the minutes and the agreement itself haven’t become public. Therefore, the gentlemen who leads these nations knows perfectly well their deal and it seemed to a quest to get rid of an common enemy. They are both wanting to consolidate and get rid of TPLF. That’s why they were willing and abide by the principal of making them the “evil” one. The TPLF have a past history, which it should answer too. However, in this conflict they are the victim together with the population of the Tigray region. No matter how Shabait is trying to shift blame here.

Shabait finishes with: “In conclusion, it is unacceptable that the penholders of the resolution that led to this interactive dialogue continue to depend on a protracted disinformation campaigns aiming at scapegoating Eritrea and covering up the essence of the crisis and the crimes committed by the defunct TPLF clique” (Shabait, 14.09.2021).

The Eritrean is saying it’s disinformation from others, as it does and never accepts any sort of reporting, which isn’t in favour of Asmara. That’s why we know they are hurt and distorted about the UN resolution. However, the Ethiopian and Eritrean allies would have preferred it to be controlled by them and their teams in the UN. That’s why they are disappointed, as the Addis Ababa have been a favourable destination and a place in good graces for so long. Now that is gone and the pariah state is getting close. Asmara have been this forever, but Addis haven’t had the same issue.

This is why Eritrea is attempting to save their ally. That is very clear. Everything is on the enemy Tigray Defence Force and not on the Tripartite Alliance. Even when they had the brigades, the ammunition and the air-strikes over the Tigray region for months. When the tripartite alliance could use all means to control and invade the region. There been no lack of crimes against humanity and the Shabait will pin that on TPLF. Because, it is not like they would say they did that themselves. Even if it would be weird of the TDF or the TPLF to attack their own and massacre own people to strive in the conflict. That is what Shabait is implying and that’s ridiculous. Peace.

Somalia: Farmaajo’s newest gamble

The dispute between former President Mohamed Abdillahi Mohamed “Farmaajo” and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has today hit rock bottom. As the former President Farmaajo has suspended his Prime Minister and his activities.

This has happened after the President and his allies has stalled the investigation into ones spy murder. They have tried to conceal and even pay off the family. In regards to this the former President and PM has fought over appointments of leadership within National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). They have also battled over ministerial appointments as well. These two has spatted over everything of late.

That is happening as the PM is in-charge of the security and the arrangements of the elections. The elections, which the former President has stalled together with comrades in the Lower House of Parliament.

Farmaajo is doing this after the PM dismissed the appointed committee to investigate and intervene in the murder investigation. Therefore, this is a personal affair, where they have both butt heads and didn’t give way.

Last time I commented on this, I said the lack of procedure and institutions was the reason for all of this. That’s because the state has been a personification of the ones in-charge. That is evident here and there is no denying the fact.

Because, Farmaajo himself appointed Roble to succeed the longest serving PM Kheire. It was only a mere year ago he was appointed and since then he has played a pivotal role. Now in the midst of planning and arranging the elections. The PM has stood tall on the supposed impartial investigation of a murder. That is clearly sensitive to the former President and his allies. Which is why he has acted like this and in the end suspended his own PM.

That the former President looks foolish is evident. Anyone can see that. It is like his hiding the facts and the reasons for the stalemate this time. He knows who was behind the murder and for what reasons they did so. If he didn’t know or have a connections. Why would he risk the election and at such a dire time? It seems to be a personal reason and at his own expense.

People are claiming the PM has been a renegade and not acted within his mandate. However, he has just followed the constitution and worked for an independent investigation of the murder. Not like he has forced himself in the middle or acted unreasonable. It is the former President who has interfered and stifled it. That shows his intentions and that some of his allies is possibly implicated.

That the former President is pushing for the suspension and does it now. Only shows that he still feels superior and above the rest. That he can use his office and mandate of Villa Somalia to cause more havoc. The former President has already stalled the affairs and the elections. This is further hurdle that he has created.

At this point of time… it is his game to play and everyone else is in his way. That is how it looks like and that’s he intends to further his unelected self in office. This is why he suspended the elections and tried to swiftly takeover power without elections. It isn’t like that was a saga from a long destined time. No, that’s just mere months ago. The former President is cunning and willing to do whatever to further his own cause. Now he had an excuse and could use the office he occupies for the moment to silence a distant PM. That really all here.

The thing that is tragic here is that the family members of the deceased doesn’t get answers and they are entangled into the political games of big-men. While the people and the republic isn’t getting the steady elections or new representations, which they deserve.

That should infuriate them and now he has suspended the one who oversees and is mandated to secure it. This isn’t an coincidence, but a happy outcome for a man who doesn’t want to have polls. Those polls might end his reign and he cannot accept this. He knows it and we all can see it too. Only the naive can think something else at this point. Farmaajo is such a fella and he has no scruples implementing it too. Peace.

South Sudan: New South Sudan Parliament can ‘infuse urgency’ into peace process (16.09.2021)

The constitution making process – an important peace process benchmark – marks a critical step forward in its own right.

NEW YORK, United States of America, September 16, 2021 – South Sudan has made history with the appointment of two women to senior leadership positions within its Transitional National Legislature, the top United Nations official in the country told the Security Council on Wednesday, as he encouraged parties to build on these gains in efforts to overcome significant political and security headwinds.

Nicholas Haysom, UN Special Representative and head of the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), said 30 August saw the inauguration of the reconstituted Parliament, with members sworn in on 2 August – including the first female Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly and female Deputy Speaker of the Council of States.

“This development paves the way for a much-delayed charge on the legislative programme envisaged by the Peace Agreement”, he said, stressing that it must now be complemented by the reconstitution of state legislatures.

He said the extensive legislative agenda includes passage of priority bills already prepared by the National Constitution Amendment Committee on the reform of security, financial, judicial, constitutional and electoral institutions.

Third anniversary

With 12 September marking the three-year anniversary of the revitalized peace agreement in South Sudan, “certainly, the reconstitution of the national parliament presents an opportunity to infuse urgency in the implementation of the peace process,” he stressed.

A ministerial task force has presented a bill on the constitution-making process to the Minister of Justice and regional development body IGAD, he added.

The constitution making process – an important peace process benchmark – marks a critical step forward in its own right, the Mission chief said, signifying a social contract between all South Sudanese on the arrangements by which they can live together in peace and harmony.

Elections:  prepare, prepare, prepare

In parallel, electoral preparations should be conducted, he said.  While there is no consensus on the timelines, the two extensions to the transitional period would see elections being held in early 2023, requiring the completion of a voters’ register by late 2022.  Without adequate technical and political preparations, “this event could be a catastrophe instead of a national turning point,” he said.

He pointed to the consultative process for the Commission for Truth, Reconciliation and Healing as another important development.

To be sure, the lack of progress in the transitional security arrangements is now the major challenge.  He encouraged parties to agree on the unified command-and-control structures of the national security institutions without delay, citing fractures within the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in-Opposition (SPLA-IO), as an “unfortunate result” of the slow pace.

Avoid ‘adversarial politics’

Mr. Haysom warned that desertions of forces led by Generals Gatwech, Olony and Thomas Dhul – and the conflicts between these groups and forces loyal to Riek Machar – will undermine the peace process. The delays also have widened the imbalance between the main parties to the revitalized peace agreement. “It is imperative that the parties put aside adversarial politics to work as a unity Government.”

Record food insecurity

Reena Ghelani, Director of Operations and Advocacy Division, Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OHCA), said people in South Sudan are facing the highest levels of food insecurity recorded since independence: over 60 per cent of the population is severely food insecure.

The combined effects of conflict, climate shocks, displacement, COVID-19 and the lack of investment in infrastructure and basic services, have driven them deeper into need.

More than 8.3 million people need humanitarian assistance, including 1.4 million children, she said.  Estimates in December 2020 found that 2.4 million people faced emergency levels of acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 4 or above) between April and July 2021.

In five of these six locations, she said conflict was the major driver fuelling displacement and leading to the loss of lives, assets and livelihoods.

‘A lifeline out of starvation’

She said humanitarian agencies scaled up the multi-sectoral response in the at-risk counties, reaching over half a million people between January and June. “We have managed to give thousands a lifeline out of starvation.”

The response is part of a larger aid operation that has assisted 4.4 million people across the country between January and June with food, medical and nutritional care, water and sanitation, protection support and shelter.

Attacks along supply routes

However, she said non-State armed groups and certain youth groups continue to hamper access, looting humanitarian facilities and frequently attacking civilian and humanitarian convoys along key supply routes.  The disruptions have fuelled higher prices of essential goods for an already vulnerable population.

Meanwhile, she said flooding for a third consecutive year has affected nearly 426,000 people along the Nile river, the Sudd wetland and the Sobat.

Funding gaps

The World Food Programme (WFP) was forced to reduce food rations in all Refugee, Protection of Civilian and IDP camps from April 2021, due to inadequate funding – a move that affected 700,000 people. In October, it will be forced to stop support in IDP camps in Bor, Juba, and Wau, as resources were re-prioritized to counties where people were at the brink of famine.

Going forward, she called all actors to de-escalate the violence, stressing that humanitarians need Government support to ensure safe and unhindered access to people in need. The $1.7 billion Humanitarian Response Plan – the largest ever for South Sudan – is only 56 per cent funded and she urged donors to give at scale early in 2022, so aid efforts can get ahead of the needs.
