Uganda: Museveni directed who got Road Contracts

There is nothing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni doesn’t touch or directs. He can sell land, build buildings or have the army to get rid of an opponent. It is all happening from whatever government housing his occupying or if his relaxing besides his cows at his ranch. The President can always just send a letter and change policy by doing so.

The President has in the past revised laws by directing his ministers. The President has stopped court cases and ensured the results are going into his favour. Therefore, today’s revelations aren’t shocking, but showing a steady pattern.

On the 15th May 2021 he wrote a letter to Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) director Allen Kagina that Zhongmei Engineering Group was getting the tender and agreement to build the road of Kanoni-Misingi-Mityana (37km).

On the 21st June 2021 he wrote a letter to Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) director Allen Kagina that Chongqing International Construction Corporation (CICO) was getting the tenders and agreements to build the roads of Kabowohe-Kitagata-Rukungiri (65,7km) and Misindye-Kabimbiri-Zirobwe-Wobulenzi-Kapeeka (138km).

On the 29th June 2021 he wrote a letter to Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) director Allen Kagina that Ashoka Buildcon Limited was getting the tenders and agreements to build the roads of Mpigi-Kibibi-Mityana (60km), Kanungu-Hamurwa (47km) and Butogota-Buhoma (32km).

This is giving direct tenders to two Chinese corporations and one Indian one. That is clear that the “Buy Ugandan, Build Uganda” BUBU slogan only gets that far. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the President have given away these tenders to please the loan agreements and interests of secret dealing with the President. If he didn’t have that… we would have seen Dott Services or other known companies getting involved.

The expensive roads and the corrupt practices comes from the head. The President breaks the laws himself. As UNRA isn’t having a tender process and neither is companies fighting to get the tender to build or fix these roads in question. No, the President has already secret agreements which is why his directing the UNRA to write agreements with them.

This shows how shady and how the state is micro-managed. When a President with 80 people in his cabinet and still he directs government organizations to follow his will. That is why his the personification of the state. The President of Life shows his ways by writing these letters.

This isn’t a sign of strength. Just like it is not a sign of strength to have the army to fix everything else. It is not sign of good state when the Head of State decides which companies that are building and constructing roads in the Republic. That job should be done by other with other titles and this is why they are created UNRA in the first place to follow procedures and do it correctly by law. Which isn’t following the direct directions of the President.

These three companies are getting a leeway and didn’t have to do their work. Somewhere and somehow they have gotten it behind closed doors. The President has made these deals and therefore the bureaucracy now has to clean the slate for him. They have to legitimize it… and that’s why the UNRA will in end make “agreements” with these companies. However, it was set in stone and the UNRA director knew that there was no choice.

The “High Above” said so and henceforth it is law. Peace.

Ethiopia: Amhara Director of Communication Muluneh says they “need to stop the storm”

Any steady body of water must be in a tidal wave to move from its original position. To be a storm, it must be caused by volcanoes or hurricanes” (Muluneh, 09.08.2021).

The Amhara Regional Director of Communication Gizachew Muluneh published today a piece called “If we stop the storm, we won’t be afraid of the storm”. It was published at the Amhara Communications Facebook Page and at the Ethiopian Press Agency.

We know that the Tigray Defence Force (TDF) is advancing within the Amhara region and therefore, the Amhara Regional State who has been so invested in the conflict. It has to show force and release texts to defend it’s war. They had first the war in Tigray region with the Amhara Regional Special Forces and “Fano”. Both working for the cause of the Regional State and annex parts of it too.

This is why the piece was released today, as the roads are besieged and the propaganda needs to revitalize the new recruits ahead of warfare in the nearby area of bigger and centralized areas of the Regional State.

As he states: “Most of the waves in front of us, which are against our very existence, have been hit hard by our common arm; If there is a tidal wave left, it can only be called a tidal wave. The Amhara Special Forces: Militia, the Coalition of Nationalities and the National Defense Forces, retaliated. As a result of their self-defense measures, TNG was forced to lose its manpower to invade the Amhara region” ((Muluneh, 09.08.2021).

We know the advances are hitting hard and it is showing the force of the TDF. As several of armies has attacked it and they are still able to get further into the region. The Amhara and ENDF should have the capacity to stop this. However, they have been losing and the brigades haven’t been prepared for what is meeting them. This is why the Amhara regional government sounds the horn and the “wave” have to be hit now.

He continues: “The whole people of Amhara must continue their struggle to survive where they are, recognizing that we have no choice but to prevent the storm of catastrophe that has come to destroy us. It does matter” (Muluneh, 09.08.2021).

They are now calling it all destructive force. That’s how powerful the TDF is… and the storm will clearly take everything in its way. We know it has shown restrained and played by the rules. Even when all the government propaganda machinery claims it to be the vicious and vindictive. As the projection of their own acts in Tigray region comes home to haunt them. While the continues vilifying of the enemy continues. That is a never ending cycle and the leaders of Amhara continues with it.

He further says: “Therefore, in order to summarize the threat to our existence as a nation and as a people, our main goal should not only be to bury the melt-in-your-mouth, but also to fight the hurricane that caused the storm. Because without a hurricane, there is no such thing as a storm” (Muluneh, 09.08.2021).

Here his stating that they have to go to the “root” and stop the waves before they occur. This is meaning they want to kill and get rid of the Tigrayan before they even step on the soil of Amhara. That is something the Amhara has been doing since November 2020. They have worked on this and this sort of message is the defence of the massacres and the annexation of Western Tigray. Therefore, the Director says it metaphorically and we should all be aware.

In the end he says: “The first option is to pay the price for the risks and fight together to sustain our existence, uplift our history, and build a region and a country where true democracy and peace are guaranteed” (…) “There is no doubt that the hero will always be the first choice for our people and our fighters. And in order to be successful in our first choice and to be the proud people on the world stage, we must unite to eradicate the erroneous terrorist weed and the common enemy and cancer of our people. And it will happen. Victory for our heroes !!!” (Muluneh, 09.08.2021).

Here we see the same symbolism as the state has done before and the genocidal narrative of “cancer” and “weed”. That is how the Tigrayan people is called by the Amhara and the Prosperity Party. They have no qualms calling them that… and we know the ones fighting the genocidal war is heroes, while the other is terrorists. That is just how their rhetoric goes and its a never ending story.

It shows the intent and what the state is willing to public. This warfare in Ethiopia is showing the sinister side of the Republic and it’s current leadership. When they are promoting propaganda like this and uses state media to push it too. Peace.

Tanzania: The first 100 days of President Samia Suluhu indicate that the tyranny is enforced without mercy

The Chama Cha Mapundzi (CCM) is reigning supreme in the United Republic of Tanzania. Today it’s the first 100 days of the first woman as Head of State and Commander-in-Chief Sama Suluhu.

She came in with some positive changes, but her reign is continuing the same old fashion tyranny. She’s a female tyrant and that’s the only way to see it. As she orders the direct arrests of opposition leaders and get them charged for terrorism. He keeps the leadership of plenty of leaders of the biggest opposition party CHADEMA. The authorities are keeping them behind bars with no opportunity to get bail or has a change to defend for their freedom. No, they are charged and the authorities can keep them behind bars, because they are a danger to society.

That is why the authorities can torture them and violate the civilians who just happens to be dissidents. The tyrant of Tanzania in her short stint in office has already been able to arrest a bishop. She has already proven her ruthlessness.

As she has no sympathy or care for the Women’s Wing of Bawacha who are behind bars. They have been raped, tortured and the woman have been denied sanitary pads. The tyranny is so alive and well.

The President doesn’t care about the well being of her enemies. No, she will just charge, detain and use the system to go after them. They are terrorist, money-laundering and blowing up gas-stations. Clearly, the CHADEMA leadership should never consider or hold meetings to plan a constitutional change.

Because, a constitutional change and changing laws would give her less power. That is why she has to silence them. This is what she fears, as the predecessor gave her more power. The state and laws, which have ensnared the opposition parties and their movements. The opposition parties has to notify authorities to hold meetings, gatherings, demonstrations and even doing simple training of members. The media have been chocked, social media and bloggers has to get allowed to publish. If they go against the grain, expect the suspension or get charged like thieves as well.

That is what is happening to the CHADEMA. CCM have over the years made it hard to operate and they do it deliberately. That’s why the current can target and charge them. This is nothing new, but after 100 days in power.

All hail the tyrant, Samia Suluhu. She is the new face of Tanzania and everyone should know. That she has no heart for the opposition, dissidents or activists. They will all suffer under her rule. It is now proven and anyone should know this. Peace.

Brexit: “Operation Yellowhammer” is in full effect with the Army drive for the supermarkets

Certainly, some should feel a bit vindicated these days. Especially the Remainers who campaigned for “Project Fear” which was so scrutinized and called a blame-game of a worse scenario. The last few weeks has really shown the consequences of the Brexit. A Brexit that the Conservative and Tories promised to be easy and without any real costs.

However, everyone in their right mind knows that a divorce on this scale would cost. The marriage had to end and the transactions after this would be made more difficult. The Tories haven’t made things smooth or better. The rules and regulations between the United Kingdom and European Union is hectic. Several of companies and hauliers have stopped trading with the UK. This is now costing and showing results in the supermarkets across the Kingdom. That is not shocking, but was inevitable.

The Project Yellowhammer and Worst Case Scenario of August 2019 is now playing out. Where there was talks and projected to have disruptions of food supplies and across the supply chain. That was described there and clearly it is evident now.

The recent news says it all:

The Army has been put on standby to deliver supplies to supermarkets as Britain faces a shortage of 100,000 truck drivers. Around 2,000 personnel who are qualified HGV drivers are believed to be on a five-day notice to help distribute food and essentials including medicine. The Government is set to make a formal plea to the military for help ‘imminently’, with members of the Royal Logistics Corps and other regiments expected to be called upon by the end of September” (Siba Jackson – ‘Army ‘on standby’ to deliver food amid shortage of lorry drivers’ 08.08.2021, Metro.co.uk).

You know Brexit is a lose-lose enterprise when the businesses and the supermarkets needs the army to salvage the supply chain. The Tories and the government have failed the businesses and the consumers i.e. the citizens. They have told stories which wasn’t true.

All of the promises of a easy and simple transition is clearly out of the window. The reality is here now and the UK has to face it. The Tories got to find measures, means and possible way out of it. The soldiers and the ones who conscript to the army shouldn’t drive produce to Tesco or pick up lorries in Dover. That is just a failure if there ever was one.

This is just proving the pointers of the Remainers ahead of the referendum. The Brexiteers who promised so blatantly and wrongly that this would be a neat process. They should all take the mantle and configure this out. Since they are the ones who made it happen and ensure everyone that the basics are in order. Because, when the supermarkets and the convenient stores are running out of goods. You know you are in trouble.

There was plenty of folks who knew the Brexit and the new bureaucratic hurdles would cost, take time and stifle the logistics from Europe to the United Kingdom. The ones who has to import or export is paying the price. There has already been fish rotting in the ports and not getting through the system before they are expired. Therefore, the Brexit has destroyed businesses and ensured many are harder daily life.

The Tories especially, the wing of the Brexiteers has to take accountability. They need to fix this and not just settle with the army on standby. That is a show of weakness and that they totally failed. The Brexit isn’t a success, but a abomination of a government policy. It is a train-wreck and an insult to citizens. They sold a story of gold, but not everything that is shimmering is that. The Brexiteers sold fools-gold and a small majority believed it.

Now, everyone has to pay the price for it and surely nobody wants to hear it. Since it is visible and the HM Government haven’t got the qualified or the ability to figure this one out. The inept and corrupt government will not have the skills or the mindset to fix this. They will only make another circus and hope no-one see the real problems. Peace.

Sudan: Ethiopian refugees face increasingly difficult conditions as more people flee their homes (09.08.2021)

Ethiopian refugees in the camps in south-east Sudan face increasingly dire living conditions.

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, August 9, 2021 – As fighting in Ethiopia’s Tigray region and other areas in the north of the country forces more people to flee their homes, Ethiopian refugees in the camps in south-east Sudan face increasingly dire living conditions. Food, clean water, shelter and sanitation are desperately insufficient, and an increasing number of people suffer from malnutrition and diseases like malaria and hepatitis E. The onset of the rainy season worsened the situation and some refugees are choosing to undertake dangerous migration routes or move to other areas of the country.

“Everyone is just trying to make their life better, but youth are in a bad situation and they’re turning to drugs and alcohol. They’re starting to have psychological problems. There are also all the children separated from their families who are here alone,” said Daniel, a 23-year-old student living in Um Rakouba camp.

Besides the harsh living conditions, thousands of refugees are unable to contact their family members with telecommunication networks in many areas of the Tigray region down. Many people suffer trauma and emotional distress, following months of not knowing if they will be reunited with their spouses and children.

Since the beginning of the Tigray crisis, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) facilitated nearly 22,200 successful phone calls between refugees and their families. However, it registered over 20,000 unsuccessful phone calls in the same period, meaning that thousands of people could not receive news from home.

“Months go by without any news from family members for far too many people,” said Maria Carolina Aissa, the head of the ICRC sub-delegation in Kassala. “It is heartbreaking to see how people struggle to maintain dignity and hope in these circumstances.”

About ICRC’s work for refugees in Sudan:

• The ICRC supports the Sudan Red Crescent Society (SRCS) in Gedaref and Kassala to help refugees maintain contact with their families. The SRCS works in Um Rakouba and Tunaydba Ethiopian refugee camps, in Shargrab camp for Ertirean refugees, as well as in two transit sites, where the SRCS and the ICRC trained 38 host community and refugee community volunteers.

• The ICRC collected 228 tracing requests for family members inside the camps and received 20 cases from abroad through national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. It resolved 6 cases and registered 58 unaccompanied minors. In total, approximately 60 – 70% of the total Tigrayan refugee population in eastern Sudan has benefitted from phone calls or tracing services.

• The ICRC has been supporting Doka Rural Hospital, rehabilitating infrastructure, providing medical supplies, personal protection equipment and training for the staff. It donated more than four tons of medical supplies to the hospital, that provides services to more than 40,000 members of the host community and to over 18,000 refugees in Um Rakouba camp.

Ethiopia: WFP Delivers Food to Another 1 million People in Tigray During June and July but is Only Reaching Half of Those it Should Be (09.08.2021)

WFP aims to reach 2.1 million people with emergency food assistance from August onwards and needs at least 6,000 metric tons of food each week to do so

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, August 9, 2021 – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) delivered food to over a million people in the north-west and parts of southern Tigray in June and July under the second round of distributions, despite numerous challenges. But severe shortages of food, cash, fuel and functioning telecommunications equipment mean WFP has only reached half of those it planned to reach, including communities on the verge of famine.

WFP aims to reach 2.1 million people with emergency food assistance from August onwards and needs at least 6,000 metric tons of food each week to do so. Due to insecurity and operational constraints, it has been unable to bring these quantities into Tigray in recent weeks.

More than 175 trucks arrived in the Tigray region, via the Abala corridor, during the first week of August. This included 90 trucks loaded with over 5,000 metric tons of life-saving food. An additional 90 trucks are expected to arrive in the coming days to further replenish stocks of food, fuel, nutrition, health, WASH and shelter items in the region.

But with 5.2 million people in the region (90% of the Tigray population) in need of humanitarian food assistance – WFP and partners require at least 100 trucks to be arriving daily to meet the vast needs.

“People in Tigray are suffering due to lack of humanitarian support over the past month – we need to reach them now before they fall into famine. WFP is calling for all parties to agree to a ceasefire and guarantee an unimpeded flow of humanitarian supplies into Tigray, so that we can deliver lifesaving food and other emergency supplies safely before it’s too late,” said Michael Dunford, WFP’s Corporate Response Director for Tigray.

“Others in neighbouring regions are also falling deeper into hunger as a result of the conflict and WFP is working with the Government to reach communities in Afar and Amhara with life-saving food as soon as possible,” added Dunford.

The June IPC results indicate that up to 400,000 people will be facing famine-like conditions by September due to conflict, lack of market access, missed planting season and insufficient humanitarian support. To date, WFP has reached 2 million people with emergency food assistance across Eastern, Southern and Northwestern zones of Tigray.

The agricultural planting season has been missed in many parts of Tigray and estimates show -only 25% to 50% of the normal cereal production will be available this year. As a result, people in Tigray are expected to rely on food assistance up to the next year’s harvest season in October 2022.

Preliminary nutrition screening data shows Global Acute Malnourishment (GAM) rates near 30% for children under five years old and up to 80% for pregnant and breastfeeding women. UNICEF estimates 100,000 children in the region could die from complications of severe malnourishment. To date WFP has reached more than 400,000 vulnerable mothers and children with nutritionally fortified food, including 120,000 in July across 43 districts.

An additional 300,000 people are facing emergency levels of hunger in neighbouring Afar and Amhara regions, where over 250,000 people have been displaced due to continued conflict. WFP plans to support up to 80,000 people in Afar, working closely with the regional Disaster Risk Management Bureau and the federal National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC).

WFP also plans to work with the NDRMC to provide relief food in Amhara region.

There have been 3 United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) flights carrying 143 humanitarian staff to and from Tigray, but these flights need to be operating at least twice a week to rotate humanitarian passengers in and out of the region.

Across Ethiopia, WFP aims to reach 11.9 million people in 2021 with food, nutrition and cash support and delivering activities to boost communities’ self-reliance and food security.

WFP needs US$79 million to continue to scale up its response in Tigray to save lives and livelihoods to the end of the year. For all activities under its Country Strategic Plan, WFP has a funding shortfall of US$288 million. Additional funding is vital to allow WFP to keep saving and changing lives in Ethiopia.
