Tchad: Conseil Militaire de Transition (CMT) – Presidence du Conseil – Decret No. 307 (13.08.2021)

On the 12th August the General Election was held and now the results are coming in. The opposition party United Party for National Development (UPND) and their Presidential Candidate Hakainde Hichilema in winning comfortably. The incumbent Edgar Lungu and ruling party Patriotic Front is losing massively.
We knew things was going ugly when Lungu cried foul and rigging before the tallies was produced across the Republic. The PF and state has used the machinery, but still lost. There been usage of the army and pre-ticket ballots even. The state and the authorities have blocked social media and the internet, but that had to be reinstated after a court order. Therefore, everything done to keep it dark has been beaten back.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has a huge pressure on them. As the partial results and the announced reported results from the supposed strongholds of Patriotic Front (PF) have even lost MPs to the UPND. This shows the sentiment and there is no way it can be legitimately a victory for Lungu.
For Lungu and his party, this is humiliating. They had the total power for so long and has spoiled their chances. The public got tired of the mismanagement and crippling debt. Which the next government have to fix and find measures to structure the government.
HH and UPND has a huge job ahead of it. Not like Lungu and the PF have left the state in good place. Neither has the state been there for the citizens, as the elites and the patronage has earned fortunes in the years of Lungu. Therefore, the people had to voice it out and the questions of a third term is also now a non-starter.
Lungu seemed like it would be a “cake-walk” to a third term. As he had two terms and would possibly enter his third now. The PF had the power and the offices to control everything. Still, they weren’t popular or had the heart of the people. People got tired of the lacking service delivery and development. Instead they have seen how the state been run and they got tired of it.
Now, we just have to await the announcement and the proclaim the results, which is all indicating and stating the victory for Hakainde Hichilema. HH has tried this six times and finally succeeded. He has worked little by little and built a party from nothing. That shows that his message and his party needed time to get popular. It wasn’t something built overnight and as a shocker. No, he persisted and worked for it. Even he was charged with treason, blocked by the army and the state has stifled his political activism in the past.
Still, he never gave up and now he can smell the coffee. Peace.

13 August 2021: IGAD, UNMISS, RJMEC and CTSAMVM welcome and commend the 10th August 2021 resolution of the Presidency of the Republic of South Sudan reiterating its commitment to the implementation of the R-ARCSS and calling for inter alia; the immediate cessation of hostilities within the SPLM/A-IO as well as the amicable resolution of the existing dispute. This proactive step is yet another manifestation of the capability of the leadership of the Republic of South Sudan to tackle the challenges and issues afflicting the country and of their resolve not to relapse to conflict.
Chapter Two of the R-ARCSS on the Permanent Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements is the backbone of the Revitalized Agreement. The full implementation of the provisions of this section of the Peace Agreement without further delay, is expected to significantly reduce incidents of fighting and clashes throughout the country, and create an enabling environment for the implementation of the remaining Chapters of the R-ARCSS. Therefore, the unification and redeployment of the Necessary Unified Forces is an urgent priority and IGAD, UNMISS, RJMEC and CTSAMVM call upon the R-TGoNU to allocate and avail the required financial and material resources for this undertaking.
IGAD, UNMISS, RJMEC and CTSAMVM are ready and committed to provide support to the Parties to aid in resolving the extant challenges relating to the Transitional Security Arrangements and towards the timely and full implementation of the R-ARCSS. In this regard, IGAD, UNMISS, RJMEC and CTSAMVM have agreed to forge a closer working relationship with a view to coordinate and synchronize efforts towards a smooth transition to sustainable peace, prosperity and development in South Sudan.

It is just like someone never learns and has to repeat history, because it is just so fruitful for the ones in charge. President Emmerson Mnangagwa is doing similar acts, which his predecessor used to do. This week the President and his cabinet has awarded the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa an award, which she would get on the National Heroes Day.
When everyone was looking into and seeing what happened in the 1st Republic. The New Dispensation and the 2nd Republic is continuing what Robert Mugabe did to his wife Grace Mugabe. Now the former Vice President is repeating this.
The ZANU-PF is just being itself and the current President is continuing the sins of the past. The grand corruption is rampant and the lacking governance is well known. President Mnangagwa tried to foil the public with promises of something new. However, his just copying his predecessor.
We are now seeing the First Lady getting awards by the husband. The state is recognizing and celebrating her. This here should be so easily to call, as the nepotism it is. How the state now serves the first family and his allies. They are now doing this to give glory to their own.
This sort of award only shows the dire need for accountability and transparency. Since, we all know these sorts of awards are given by the proclamation of the President. The statements may claim the Vice President and Parliament Committees selects the individuals. However, the President has a final say and could dismiss it. That he didn’t do.
So, we know he did this to reward his wife and the First Lady on the National Heroes Day. She was given the Order of the Star of Zimbabwean Gold. On the Warrant, which “Grants of Awards” that states: “The awards shall be granted on the authority of the President”. That’s why you know he knew about it and had his hand in it.
This just shows what the state is willing to do and to downplay the authority of the President. It just shows that the ZANU-PF stays the ZANU-PF. They are not changing, but doing more of the same. The only difference… is the name of the recipient and nothing else. Peace.

“Context to the ‘Statement on Current Affairs and a National Call Issued by PMO on 10 August 2021 – THREAD
As terrorist TPLF’s aggressions continue unabated, Federal Government and the people of Ethiopia are being forced to employ all means to defend their communities. The statement pertains to saving a nation from the overt declaration by TPLF to disintegrate the country. The ENDF, Special Forces and Regional Militias have been instructed to halt the destruction by TPLF. The call is to eligible Ethiopians to join ENDF, while others are being called upon to organize at every level and protect their communities from neighborhoods to cities. This call is also to members of the large Diaspora community that Ethiopia has globally, to do their part in continuing the expose the terrorist organization for what it is and to mobilize all forms of support in maintaining the sovereignty and continuity of Ethiopia. Despite the continued international media mischaracterization of the statement alluding that this call is against the Tigray region, such divisive narrative formations point more to irresponsibility of other actors than it does of the intention and spirit of the call” (Office of the Prime Minister, 13.08.2021).
These are the days when the Prime Minister and his war-cry is following backlash. It is just like the man cannot take accountability for his actions and orders. The PM and Prosperity Party should be held accountable and be transparent about it too. It is not like the international media and outlets took it out of context. The warfare has been steady since November 2020. While the PM and PP had a long time quarrel with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).
The dismissal and blockade of the Tigray region happened long before the November 2020. The central government had already retaliated and tried to use commandos to annihilate TPLF leadership. However, that was stopped in the nick-of-time. That was happening because the TPLF didn’t become one “wing” or “regional state party” like other previous parties who became the PP. That hurt the pride of Abiy and he sought out military means instead of using dialogue or mediation between the parties. Just like he does now and has done over the last year.
The call from the Prime Minister on the 10th August 2021 was clear. It was no ifs or buts about the issue. The PM statement to the general public wasn’t a peaceful text, but a cry for help. A message to ask everyone to follow the call and take to arms. Let everyone who has a pulse of eligible age to conscript either for the army, regional special forces or militias even. That is with intention, as the state needs all troops and guns it can to be able to win at this point.
The Tigray Defence Force (TDF) together with allies is advancing. The state is losing grounds not only in Tigray, but in Amhara, Afar and in Oromia as well. It is not like the TDF is the only enemy of the state. There are other Liberation Movements who goes against the PP and the PM. That’s why the PM and PP has failed the state and it’s citizens. This battle for supreme power and total control has backfired.
The PM knows that his house is burning and he got no current team to beat the flames. This because he risked everything and thought his Generals would save his cause. That’s why the PM and his allies ordered the war, as they anticipated a brief and quick war against the TPLF/TDF. They had the brigades and the war-machine circulating around the region before the attack on the Northern Command. The PM and Eritrean President in coordination with the Amhara Regional State leadership was all prepared and could easily send in troops into the region. This is why the PM was so proud and mighty in the end of November 2020. Which was the supposed end of “Law Enforcement Operation”… and he still had to call for arms in August 2021. That says it all about the cause, the effect and the current will to go to war from Addis Ababa. Peace.
