Ethiopia: Office of the Prime Minister – Situation Update on Tigray (08.05.2021)

Opinion: Boris you don’t own Scotland… [and a referendum is up to them]

I hate to break it to you Boris Johnson, but you don’t have any ownership of Scotland. Neither do you have the right to tell when things are right or wrong to do. The Scots can decide for themselves and make decisions for their own nation. Just like the United Kingdom could leave the European Union. The Scotland can leave the United Kingdom. There is no difference there.

The only difference is that your the head of United Kingdom and you want to reign supreme there. He wants the Downing Street, White Hall and all of London to rule over the Scots. That’s the reality of it here.

The Prime Minister coming out saying it’s not the right time. It is just putting salt in wounds. Boris just wants to control the Scots and still have power there. He don’t want to cease the long relations and retain authority there. While he and his party had no issue ceasing with EU and Brussels. They we’re promising a easy transition and no costs of leaving that. While the truth has been more dire than that and the effects of it is coming to the market.

We know that Boris got into power and office because of the Brexit. He rose up in the ranks and campaigned for a positive ending of the membership or being a member state in the European Union. That’s why its hypocritical and real hypocrisy of him saying: “It’s not the time”.

Like who are you to say that? The Scots should decide what they see fit? Holyrod and everyone representing the Scots should make their decision. This shouldn’t be decided by the leaders of London and especially not Boris Johnson. He should remain silent and not cause this rift. As the Scottish National Party (SNP) is possibly getting a majority in the devolved parliament.

That London still wants a grip on the Union isn’t surprising. They want the perks of the Union and they don’t want it to break up. Still, that is really weird coming from the party who worked for so long and has partake in Brexit. They used the full-force and all energy to pull that off. Everyone in Union was supposed to eat it and not question it.

It is just like Prime Minister is fine to have it all and have it his way. However, he cannot see other people reacting to the actions he has made. The Scots would have been more positive to stay in the Union, if they were still members of the European Union. Nevertheless, Boris prefers Bristol over Brussels.

The SNP and Holyrod should decide their way forward. Especially, if they have the mechanisms and the opportunities to go forward. The Edinburgh can co-exist without a union with London. That has been done before, but has been years since that was happening. This will hit the pride of the Unionists. Which is very ironic, since these are the same folks that wanted the United Kingdom to depart from another Union. So, these people should take a lager and chill.

This is up to the Scots. It is up to them and what they see fit. This is not something for London to decide or have a say. Yes, they can state their wishes and will, but they shouldn’t force the Scottish here. The ones fighting for Brexit should wait this one out. They are the ones responsible for the reaction here.

The Scottish didn’t want to leave the EU, but they are forced to leave the UK to hopefully re-enter into the EU. That says a lot. They are willing to leave one Union for not only independence, but to be a direct part of the rest of Europe. That is a huge loss of pride and glory for the Union Jack and the whole government apparatus in London. They are seen as the useless technocrats from the South, bickering about how to operate the North. Therefore, Boris and his “Yes-Men” should take a token and buzz off.

Time to drink Irn-Bru and pound about the future. A future that is up to Edinburg and not London. A future that is up to the Scots and what they are wanting. Not what the officials of Whitehall or Downing Street thinks. That has to be hammered into their skulls.

They had their chance and empty promises after the recent referendum. Fish is rotting in the ports and the economy is tanking. Not only because of COVID-19 but because of Brexit. That’s the cause of this all… and a possible referendum on independence is coming as an natural reaction.

We cannot see how this will play out. However, it is only fair that the Scots decides and do what they feel. Neither, if this means a new referendum or not. The SNP is the driver here and their manifesto is clear. Therefore, the ones in power should be held to account and whatever that comes out of it. Should happen and the leaders in London shouldn’t stop the ones leading in Edinburg. If that happens, then the world know how neo-colonial the ones in-charge are.

They have one rule for themselves, but another for the rest. So… let’s see what happens. Peace.

Sudan: The Sovereign Council got huge hurdles to pass

The Sovereign Council or the Transitional Government of Khartoum have a lot on their plate. The Sudanese government haven’t only skirmishes on the border towards Ethiopia. The state doesn’t only have the power vacuum in Darfur as the United Nations-African Union mission in the Darfur region of Sudan (UNAMID) is winding down.

The post Al-Bashir reign isn’t smooth, as the public feels disappointed, as the current leaders have betrayed the ideals of the revolution. The military leaders with very limited amount of civilians got a big problems to fix. That is not only the issues of getting legitimacy abroad, but handle the current financial strains, which was the final straw of the oppression of the 30 years long dictatorship.

Just read this from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA. What they are stating about the current affairs in Sudan is worrying. Take a look!

OCHA stats of April 2021:

Sorghum and millet prices in March 2021 were exceptionally high, up to three times the already high March 2020 levels, mainly due to the depreciation of the local currency. The Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the inflation rate was at 342 per cent in March, an increase of 11 points from 331 per cent in February. The economy of Sudan shrank by about 72 per cent between 2015 and 2020, while the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance increased by about 130 per cent. In 2021, World Vision plans to reach 2.1 million of Sudan’s most vulnerable children across the Blue Nile, South Kordofan, South and East Darfur states” (OCHA, 22.04.2021).

What this is saying is that prices for food has tripled in a year. The inflations rate is so huge that it’s the definition of hyper-inflation. This is clearly destroying the ability of people to buy food or afford to live. When the inflation is like that and with prices on food is rising as high. That will cause demonstrations and riots. This in combination of the continued militarization of government without any proof of a transition to a civilian government. The public will address this and we could easily see their hurt and ability for a new round of revolution. This time not after Al-Bashir and his party, but to topple the Sovereign Council.

That so many people needs humanitarian assistance as well, as the state isn’t making things better. They are not able to create stability of currency, prices and with the inflation. That in combination with the lack of humanitarian assistance too. The Sovereign Council got its work cut out for it. This is just two years after its formation and with the power of the Transitional Military Council (TMC), which has the majority in it.

This is men of the military, militias and such who has the reigns. These are no technocrats or bureaucrats, except for the Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok. The ones in the council is former generals and leaders of the army. That is why it’s not strange that they are wrecking the economy. An economy which was tanking when they took power. So, they haven’t been able in two years to change the problems. While making more people suffering and possibly rising hunger, as the needs are ever growing.

The state got a lot on its plate. These recent reports is worrying and if things get more tricky in the future. Don’t be shocked if the public revolt or the population riots against their loss of value of currency, rising food prices and the constant struggle to survive. These military men are clearly not up for the job and they are not able to stabilize the situation. Peace.

Opinion: Gen. Museveni lies about meeting NUP coordinators

Meeting a section of coordinators and members for the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) at State House Entebbe. I appreciate their views on the different failures of the NRM, and my assurance is that we shall work together to address such” (Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, 06.05.2021).

On the 6th May 2021 there was suddenly a tweet and a dropped piece of information from the President Yoweri Tibuhurwa Kaguta Musveni. That he held a meeting at the State House with supposed National Unity Platform Coordinators from the recently held elections in January 2021.

This is the Commander-in-Chief, the President and the Chairman of the ruling party, National Resistance Movement (NRM). He has targeted, gone after and ordered his Security Organizations to hunt after the NUP. His government has arrested, detained, kidnapped, kept incommunicado and even killed NUP activists, leaders and coordinators. The state hasn’t been favourable or fair to the NUP. That’s why I don’t believe …. that there was any real NUP Coordinators at the State House.

The NRM Chairman and Self-Styled President for Life isn’t having dialogue with the NUP. Neither did he have the ability to prove anyone of the people in the picture even was part of opposition party. The same party that has been targeted and aimed at all true campaign season.

The President of a ruling regime, which still have the NUP Presidential Campaign Team behind bars, which it has been since the end of December 2020. That’s why the belief of a meeting like this unlikely. It isn’t like the NUP have been in communication or tried to talk with the NRM. They have sent letters to the other opposition parties, but not the ruling regime.

Museveni wants to look like a winner and be praised ahead of the 12th May 2021 swearing in at Kololo Airfield. Where he wants all the dignitaries and the glory of the rigged election ahead of his 9th term in office. The man needs legitimacy and look sincere, though we all know the grift and the reasons for this.

He has no trouble living on a lie. The regime is pushing it. That’s why we know the drill and we have been here before. The NUP isn’t collaborating with the NRM. That is just the truth. The President and State House isn’t straightforward with this. That’s why we know this was a publicity stunt and PR move, but not the reality. If it was… he would have shown their faces and smiled with them. Like the moves with Ashburg Katto, Jennifer Full Figure and everyone else he has “taken” from the NUP in the past.

Now, he just held a meeting, but not showing any of them off. It is just filled with ghosts, unaccounted people and internally displaced individuals who happens to be there. I’m sure more coordinators are behind bars, on bail or been sought after during the days of polls in January 2021. The state have gone after these and they have even killed them too. So, I doubt the party who has been hunted down like the NUP would suddenly let their people greet the man behind the scenes doing these sinister things to them.

Like will you meet the killer and the one punishing your kin? His been doing so without any justification or reason. Calling the NUP coordinators, activists and members as thugs, hoodlums and whatnot. He has talked about crushing them… so why would they even talk to this man? Who only has selfish interests and not care for the Republic?

Museveni can live on the lie. The lies… which is embedded in his modus operandi … and keeps him in office. These lies are what makes him powerful. Still, it is lies and deceit, which isn’t true. That is why he needs to stuff like this to make legit. Though we all know his just trying to take people for fools. People are not that stupid, even if his handlers believes they are. Peace.
