Ethiopia: Two SAWET Party leaders detained by soldiers in Mekelle

There are now credible reports two of the leaders of SAWET Party or the Salsay Weyane Tigray Party been arrested and detained at unknown location. This party has together with other Tigray parties come out with statements undressing the actions of the in the Tigray Region. They are one of the member parties of the Tigray National Political Parties Forum. Who has been important to release credible news and state the affairs of the state. Which the Federal Government don’t want to have out or deliberately hiding from the world public.

That is why its tragic news to hear that Salsay Weyane Tigray’s Deputy Chairman Alula Hailu and Deputy Head of Finance Kahsay Hailu were taken by Ethiopian soldiers to an undisclosed location in Tigray’s capital, Mekelle.

This news is really tragic, but nothing new in Ethiopia. There are so many political prisoners kept across the Republic. That these is just one a big pool or a giant crowds of opposition leaders behind bars. That is modus operandi at this point.

It wouldn’t be shocking if the leaders of Baytone or TIP would be next from the Tigray National Political Parties Forum. Because, the state is deliberately going after its dissidents. They are clearly planning to go after and finding them. One by one and finding any excuse to arrest, detain or charge them. With no proper cause, but as a warning to anyone opposing the regime.

This is just one more case of injustice and impunity by the rulers of Addis Ababa. The Prosperity Party wants to be remembered this way. That is their fate apparently. Peace.
