The election of 14th January 2021 is going as anticipated and following ordinary scheduled programming. It is now on the 16th January 2021 that incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni won the Presidential Election. Media houses is stating this is sixth term, which is wrong. As then your deleting a decade of his rule. He had two terms between 1986 to 1996 without any elections, as the President suspended elections after the coup in 1986. Therefore, these two unannounced terms needs to be counted. Not only his rigged elections ever since, which counts to 6. That is why they say his on the sixth term. When his in reality on his 8th term by 2021. If he stands in 2026 he would by my calculation be on his 9th term.
Alas, what has happened now was the finalization of the cooked results. Announcing the results in favour … of the President and his party – National Resistance Movement (NRM). The NRM have control of the 11th Parliament and the Presidency. Yes, the opposition got lots of seats and Bobi Wine’s NUP has a mandate. However, they will be a big opposition party, but not taking any stakes of the plate and Museveni has enough minions to keep power.
What Bobi Wine does now is vital. As he will be called a criminal and his party will be targeted. The headquarters might be raided again. Bobi Wine most likely will be charged with treason and flown away from Buganda. That is what has happened before with other candidates. Bobi Wine will get the colonial treatment by the NRM and President.
Bobi Wine and National Unity Platform better get the hard-drives and the documentation of the electoral fraud. The massive targeting of the party and proof of how the state has rigged this election. Put a giant petition to the Constitutional Court. Yes, that Court is filled with career judges who will not judge in favour. However, the act of doing this is proving the allegations and showing the truth. A truth that the state distorts and will peddle lies about. They will mock and joke about this move. However, that will historically prove that Bobi Wine is the big-man. Just like Besigye did in the past and did what he could to prove the malicious system of rigging in favour of Museveni.
Bobi Wine and NUP will struggle. They are walking targets and that hasn’t changed. The NUP have been targeted, assaulted, arrested and even extra judicial killings. Therefore, the elections might be over. However, the oppression and impunity will not stop. That will persist as long as this system is alive.
Museveni only have strength, because he has the army and commands it. The President will use that and law enforcement to ensure his prolonged time in office. Not like the President is wanted or has the love of the general population. He doesn’t have the aspects of liberator anymore. His the tyrant and grand dictator. The man who has an office, because he got the guns, but he doesn’t have the love.
President Museveni might feel like a winner, but the sad thing is his the biggest loser. Museveni is a loser and not a big-man. The President will be remembered for the atrocities and human rights violations. The mismanagement and maladministration, the grand corruption and lack of transparency. The President will not go down as hero, but as a villain. Surely for the ones following him. Knows that this wasn’t what people thought would happen in the 1990s. When he was crowned the new generation of leaders.
However, that was a lie. Museveni wasn’t a new generation, but someone who could sell a story and become a donor darling. Now he has used that goodwill and acts in open like the ones he toppled. Bobi Wine has proven that and his campaign has undermined Museveni. That will only continue as long as Bobi Wine hogs the airwaves. President Museveni cannot contain him forever. As his life isn’t long enough. The next up is challenging him…. and he will not go away. Even if Besigye didn’t be on the ballot. Besigye have still supported the cause and been a supportive figure in opposition. This means that Bobi Wine and the FDC will still be voices of reason in the middle of oppression. Peace.
