Lesotho: Ministry of Health – COVID 19 Updates (05.07.2020)

It is established in the last few days that the contestants for the Kampala Woman MP seat will be a battle. There will be real issues and candidates. The incumbent is not automatic to this slot for MP in 2021.
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Nagayi Sempala. Nabilah has been an MP for two terms. She won the 2011 elections and the 2016. The second one, she was bickering between the NRM and the FDC. She has already dismissed the People Power Movement, the movement Besigye has gone in alliance with. Therefore, her standing and her part in the up-coming election is up for grabs.
As Nabilah is challenged in her own party by the Makerere lecturer and activist, Dr. Stella Nyanzi has come forward as the FDC Kampala Woman MP. This means Nabilah isn’t directly entitled to her place, even as an incumbent. There is direct competition just there. No sole candidacy there.
That was just the FDC. There are plenty of others coming up trying to grab this slot.
In the National Resistance Movement (NRM) the ruling party is sending their Presidential Advisor and musician Jennifer Full Figure or Jennifer Nakangubi. It was just last year she got promoted from nothing as an activist within the People Power Movement and went to the NRM. Now, she wants to contest for something. Where there is real competition. Not only the two mentioned, but more as well.
From the People Power Movement, you have the lawyer Shamim Malende, the head of the Woman’s League and Head of Legal for the Movement. She is also putting forward her credentials for the race. After my findings she has been practising law since around 2008.
This is the contestants for the seat before you look into if the Democratic Party will have anyone, if the Uganda Peoples’ Congress will have one too. They might have, the DP had one in 2016, but she became a NRM Member and part of the cabinet after loosing to Nabilah. Who knows what’s their plan this time.
Kampala have been a stronghold for the opposition. The expectations for a FDC MP or People Power MP should be on the horizon here. It just depends on Nyanzi or Malende. Sempala and Full Figure will play second fiddle to those two. I know that will hurt the pride of Sempala especially, since she regards herself highly. Not to talk about the ego and attitude of Full Figure. We know she will cry havoc, if she looses, which she most likely will do.
If Nyanzi get the slot in the FDC this time around. Then we can wonder what plan Sempala have. Secondly, Malende will be hot contestant in consideration with the rise of People Power. Full Figure will be the Ragga Dee of this competition. She might not like that, but just like Ragga she will loose. It just depends how much. Peace.

The favourite daughter of residential district commander (RDC) Patrick Bageya is now seeking the highest office of the Republic. This is Nancy Kalembe, the former Miss Uganda contestant and Miss Sanyu FM. Who participated for 10 weeks at The African Apprentice in 2014.
The businesswoman, the entrepreneur who is running two companies. This being the CEO of Mbalimbali Limited and Spring Clean Limited. So she has leadership experience, but she also have an inkling for the pedestal and being in the spotlight.
If that wasn’t true, she wouldn’t join beauty competitions and participate in the Apprentice. Kalembe has also an news anchor on UBC. For the moment what she is working in and doing is trading jam.
Nothing wrong with trading jam, nothing wrong with her past in the media, reality TV, but it shows something. Also comments about her leadership skills at the Apprentice isn’t flattering. You can easily find commentary about her style and its not singing psalms to the heavens.
We know she has made headlines before, not only that she got proposed to ended up in New Vision, but also that she could swim. We can wonder if these sorts of things will happen now too.
Kalembe now how to stir interest, but will she have a platform or candidacy worth the highest office?
If she would be sincere about herself and anything else. Maybe go for Local Councillor or become a Member of Parliament (MP). I have said that about other Presidential Candidates too. Since, they have no clear mandate, nor any visible popularity.
Nancy is known. She has been in the headlines. As a reality star and Miss Uganda Contestant. However, her political career have been non-existent. At least in the press with headlines like “Nancy can swim!”. That is not a joke, but a reality she was living in.
That is why its a spectacle that she stands as a candidate. Not even aspiring for offices to represent locally or in Parliament. Nancy aims at the top and that without a machinery behind her.
Maybe she hopes this will last longer then the T-E-N weeks on the Apprentice. Peace.
