Ethiopia: PM Abiy have given the Oromo freedom [to die in the street for their liberty]

I don’t believe the Oromo people need an armed political struggle, as someone who spent all his life for Oromo. The people of Oromo are free, what we need now is development. There is no shame in being Oromo in Ethiopia, what we need is prosperity” – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali in Parliament (07.07.2020).

Within the last 24 hours alone, there is reports of 10 more dead in Haramaya (Alem Maya). The authorities killed them and buried them in the night without the families of the deceased present. This is the sort news and stories, the Prime Minister and his allies doesn’t want out.

The verified numbers of killed protester across the Federal Republic is still at 160. While unverified numbers is at 320. It is hard to know the truth, as the internet is blocked. Phone lines is jammed. Command Post in Addis Ababa and Oromia.

While the media houses friendly to the Prime Minister is spreading his message and their propaganda at this point. The PM isn’t caring about the deceased at this point. He just want to be king and want people to listen to his orders. The peasants are just peasants anyway, why listening to them?

That is how it seems, as the assassination of Haacaaluu Hundeessaa on the 29th June 2020. The protests has continued. The deaths have spiralled, while the government working to defend itself. The state sponsored violence is going to another level. Innocent civilians are dying in the hands of soldiers and police officers across Oromia and in Addis Ababa.

It is just like Prime Minister enjoys the pains and suffering of his citizens. He says in the midst of the bloodshed, that they have freedom? What sort of freedom is it do die a blunt death at the hand of law enforcement? What sort of death is it knowing the last thing you did, you battled injustice and more of your brothers dies of the same. Endless blood on the streets, because you as a Prime Minister calls this freedom.

You call it freedom, while leaders of the Oromo gets arrested. There are so many leaders within the Oromo Liberation Front and Oromo Federal Congress detained. Radios are closed, Media Houses closed and the Prime Minister speaks of freedom.

The Prime Minister speaks of freedom, while his propaganda peddlers are spewing out allegations of direct violence of Oromo against their own. While using the former oppressors as scapegoats in the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). Claiming they are also peddling dangerous content in sowing diversion between Muslim and Christian Oromo.

This while they want Amhara, Tigrai and Oromo all to fight each other. So, they will all look away from the Command Post, Army who attacks the citizens and people are dying.

For me its insane to write this. There is even some speculation that the PM did all of this to please, the ones who defies him all the way. The Tigray Nafxanya (TN) to beat the Oromo, arrest the leadership, kill their voice and spew hatred between the Oromo and Amhara. Which is just bonkers considering the TPLF is working alone in their region and not following the PM. The PM is just hurt they are not his allies and working with him.

The internet is down, so a lot of information is not coming out. Hopefully, more of that will return when the authorities are opening the airways, the internet and telephone-lines.

Abiy is sowing hope. Abiy is not sowing prosperity. He is enraging the public. Instead of healing wounds. Trying to listen to grievances. His trying to provoke and anger parts of the public. For a man of supposed “peace”. This is just the wrong way of handling it. Unless, he wants to be king, the emperor, who rules by decree, but not popularity. A man who rules by the gun, but not by consensus. That is the sort of man he is now. Peace.

Opinion: VP Mohadi is useless…

“We got our independence but the white man never gave us knowledge on how to run our economy, we only know how to run General Dealers shops, the white man never taught us how to run a proper economy” – Vice President Kembo Mohadi

What legislation? What policy is Kembo Mohadi known for? I cannot think of anything. I cannot imagine anything he has done in power and as a government lackey. There is nothing he has delivered or done, that has made profound changes.

That is why its striking that one of the laziest legislators, one of the laziest in the cabinet and in general are blaming the colonial masters. The United Kingdom have their short-coming and did their bad things, while they were the ruler of Zimbabwe back-in-the-day. However, that is 40 years ago or about 2 generations ago.

There have been plenty of moons since the British had any say or did anything in Harare. It has all been ZANU-PF who has reigned and with brutal force. They have used the same means of the colonial to strike against the citizens. They were the new oppressors taking over for the old one.

That is why its very fitting. That one of the VPs are speaking out. One of the Deputies of the President in 2020 blaming the ones governing in the 1970s for the shortcomings today. No, it is not Mugabe and Mnangagwa. No, its Ian fucking Smith. The White Bastard of Rhodesia. Yes, the minority tyrant of Zimbabwe. Yes, he was a son-of-bitch. Yes, Smith was oppressive and deserved by all records to be overthrown.

However, there been plenty of water under the bridge since then. There been plenty of time to fix, amend and make a difference.

The problems of 2020 isn’t because of Smith and his bad regime. No, its because of the inept, corrupt and mismanaged rule of ZANU-PF. That is, it. We all know it is easier to blame someone else, then look into your own shortcomings. That is just what Mohadi did.

The VP looked to the predecessors, the ones in power 40 years ago. It is like blaming The Beatles for the sucking pop-music of the current age. It just doesn’t add up. The ZANU-PF, if they wanted too. They would have learned, they would have acknowledged and asked for counsel. So, that they could have fixed the economy and followed financial experts. Nevertheless, that haven’t been the case. It has tanked, because of how they operate.

So, blaming the leadership of the 1960s, 1970s and such on the trouble in the 2000s, 2010s and in 2020. Is beyond bonkers. That is not taking any accountability for the 40 YEARS in power. The ZANU-PF have had a lifetime to make things work. Instead they have depleted it all and blames its soon on the dead.

So long live the President, long live the Republic and Lord have mercy on the VP Mohadi, because he needs it. Peace.

Opinion: Mwiru joining Muntu was in the cards

“It is not correct that I belong to either of the camps but I believe that FDC needs a man like Muntu because he is someone who you can rely on. For instance he kept his promise to work with Dr Kizza Besigye. This is what members told him and it is his time now”Paul Mwiru in 2012

The five time winner of Jinja-East Constituency, Paul Mwiru. The MP for FDC since 2011. A man who has been elected, again and again and who has beaten the NRM Candidate Nathan Igme  Nabeta five times in the polls is sticking by his words.

Now 9 years down the line or more than that since he was part of the Reform Agenda, losing to the same canidate in an election in 2006. Have been with the FDC since it restructured. Been in the leadership and therefore, known the people n party from the get-go.

That’s why it’s a bit sour, but with reason that he joins the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT). He was there for the launch of the party last year and today on the 7th July 2020 he has deflected. Meaning he will be standing in Jinja East in 2020 as ANT MP and not as a FDC. The third party he will represent in his career as a legislator. That is if he beats the new FDC candidate or Nabeta scores big like 2006.

The move have been in the cards. He has started the journey with Muntu and been loyal to him. The official move today was expected. It is not shocking, but evidence that Muntu get a powerful ally. A man who has worked tirelessly and been on the frontline. That is why he has been arrested, tortured and incommunicado for a while, while battling the good cause.

Mwiru was part of the New Formation, the ANT from the start. That he joined today wasn’t shocking. It has been anticipated. Just like the move for Muntu to create his own flagship when he failed to get re-elected in the FDC.

That is just the way things are at this point. Mwiru is showing loyalty with this. He already said it 8 years ago. His only living up to those words and doing something about it. Now he has together with the team of ANT have to build up that party. Instead of living on the merits of the FDC.

“Even an ant can hurt an elephant” – South African Proverb

So, let’s see if Mwiru can together with Muntu beat the elephant. The elephant he has opposed all his career. One thing Mwiru, he has shown loyalty to Muntu. Even though he trigged the FDC when he backed Wadri in his by-election and not stood by the FDC candidate.

Paul knows how tactically manoeuvre. This move is yet another one. Now a ANT MP. He believed in Muntu back-in-the-day and today. Showing integrity on this one. Let’s see if that pay-off or is a miscalculated move in 2021. Peace.
