Foreign Minister Okello Oryem unexpected honesty [no middle-income country in sight]

A person can have a moment of clarity, those profound moments of a deep understanding or epiphany where the truth is played out. Not only in your own mind, but in words to the people around you. I think that Foreign Minister Henry Okello Oryem had such a divine moment yesterday. Where he spoke the truth. A truth that the regime, the government he represents and the friendly allies doesn’t want to associate with. Even if it is true, because that undermines their efforts and their message ahead of the 2021 elections.

Just read this excerpt from the Daily Monitor:

In an interview with Daily Monitor yesterday, Mr Oryem attributed the “change of mind” to the wellbeing of Ugandans living in China. The minister said no Ugandan who had travelled abroad to look for better life wishes to return to poverty [in Uganda] from which they ran away. “Even if they (Ugandans abroad) come back, they will come into poverty. And if they come back, no one will welcome them back into their homes and they will also have nothing to do,” Mr Oryem said” (Tonny Abet – ‘Ugandans in China refuse to come back home’ 25.06.2020, Daily Monitor).

The National Resistance Movement, the State House and all the arms of government cannot be happy. That the Foreign Minister says this and get this in print. No matter if this is the truth or not. This is bad image and bad storytelling. These sort of things are maybe said in the corridors of power and between friends. However, public officials wouldn’t say these words without consequence.

Especially, when this government is promising middle income country status. Growing and expanding industries, wealth creation and extensive exports of produce. These words from the minister will hurt the pride of the government. Yes this is a known fact of the poverty and lack of development. Which haven’t changed substantially since the government took power in 1986. They might want to claim that, but in the end. The same problems that was there in the 1980s are still their in 2020.

The Minister was honest about the issues. He spoke the truth. A truth the government usually don’t want to reveal. Even if the government is high as a kite on loans. They are deficit financing and recycling debts to cover old debts. The state is loaning for everything, anticipating grants, because the state doesn’t have enough revenue for its operations. That is why the poverty is true.

However, the Minister isn’t supposed to say this. Especially, when the state wants to look like a success story every day ahead of the polls in 2021. Peace.

All the President’s Men: Flynn & Stone “Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free-Card”

I know that the President isn’t the Monopoly Man, but his dealing out “Get-Out-Jail-Free-Card” like him in real life. There is no indication that rule of law matters, neither is the ideal of everyone is equal before the law. The United States of America is a broken, failure of a state. Where voting purge, where police brutality and identity politics are ordinary features.

This compelled with the compromised Department of Justice. Which is a weaponized tool of the White House. Instead of being an independent organization respecting and enforcing the codes of law. That is dream and not the reality in Trump’s America.

That is why the Department of Justice and Attorney General William Barr is willing to trade all honesty, all equal treatment and enforcing it accordingly to protocol. We are seeing that…

That train has left and there is apparently no return of it in sight. The President and his Attorney General is blatant in disregard to the rule of law and enforcing towards their own. This being people who has pleaded guilty, been unregistered foreign agents and so fourth. They are apparently allowed to solicit information during campaigns with foreign actors, which they later lied about meeting. It doesn’t matter where it is from, but the conspiracy to do so for the benefit of a candidate. Should be a thing that is illegal and treated that way. However, since these people did it for the current day President. They can get off the hook.

This is okay, that they are conspiring with foreign powers and using that information to beat their opposition. As later investigation see they are lying to congress and to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). If a random bloke from any Ville or Port would do this. Then they would linger in jail like Reality Winner and other leakers. Whistleblowers are prosecuted and arraigned in court.

Stone is getting a pleasant amount of time behind bars for his relationship with the President. The same can be said about Flynn. We can rest assure that the other ones whose associated with the President will get help or a get out of jail free-card. Maybe not Michael Cohen, his former personal lawyer, but expect others to suddenly get out of the penitentiary like Paul Manafort.

The Republican’s can lie to themselves. They can cheat themselves and claim to be the party of rule of law. However, its hard to sell: when you give people who conspired against the state freedom. That is basic … very simple to understand and should be common sense. This is giving immunity to people by giving grace, freedom and extended liberty to the ones who is connected to the President. They can steal, graft and conspire against the state. This they can do for the simple reason: They are buddies and friends of the President.

This are the legal precedence of the United States. The US can never tell dictators that they cannot shield their graft or their criminal friends. For the same reason as the US is now shielding the friends of the President. The US is now allowing illegal activity being done by associates of the President. They got a special number at the Department of Justice. The Trump Administration is directing the Department to them favours. That is really the sickening state of the US.

This is what tyrants and dictators do. They are allowing associates eat, rule with impunity and get away with it. That’s for the same as the associates of Trump. If you know, now you know. The ones showing loyalty to the President. Can get a better treatment and less of stint in jail. That is how corrupt the President is and to what extent he goes. He makes dictators proud for his actions. Since he acts just like they would. However, if they did the same. The US would condemn and even sanction them. Nevertheless, the US will not get any retorts for acting like this. Peace.

Muyanja Mbabaali is another bootlicker: A Motion to Express Gratitude to the President

Muyanja Mbabaali, the MP for Bukoto County South yesterday launched a Motion to Express Gratitude to His Excellency the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for the clear and precise exposition of government policy contained in the state of the Nation Address to the Parliament of Uganda on 4th June 2020.

The sad thing about this. This isn’t satire, but real. It was in the order paper for the 24th June 2020. This man is representing the National Resistance Movement (NRM). What is weird is that this is second praising motion in a matter of short time.

It is like its an ass kissing competition. Who can boost the ego of the President the most? One dude and a few other ones was praising the President for his reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Republic. Now a little while later this man comes to praise his State of the Nation Address.

This fella and other MPs are supposed to be the check and balances of the Republic. The MP is supposed to ensure the President is accountable. Instead his a blind “YES MAN”.

If the MP thinks this a brilliant move? Well, he might get a pay-off to pay for his “scientific” campaigning and get extra allowances to cover previous campaign debts. Gods knows his reasoning other than begging for positive coverage and kissing the ring of the President.

It is not like this State of the Nation has made any difference. Not like the speech in Parliament changed the Republic. There is no proof of it and neither is it a clear message. It is the same sort of speech he hold at any given time. He does this every few months… I don’t see anything new from the President.

That is why the MP is really showing how he sucks up to the “High Above” surely for the hope of some monetary gain. Because, if his able to create some goodwill and pleasing him. He hopes there will be a drop of envelopes his way. That is the only reason why this is happening.

Since this isn’t keeping the President accountable. Neither is this doing his job as a Representative for Bukoto South. This is done with selfish reasons. While hoping it will cast some good vibes to the State House.

This MP has been thrown out for lacking academical qualifications in 2012, but was cleared again for the 2016 elections. He is surely preparing for 2021 with this. It will make him look good in the eyes of the President and his kitchen cabinet. They will surely enjoy that someone is doing this.

Not that this is making any difference, other then praising the overlord, the self-styled President of Life and His Excellency.

If this is how the MP wants to be remembered, it is fine by me. Instead of actually doing something good. His singing to the choir and being a choirboy for the “High Above”. That is his choice … that is what he did.

You as an MP could have used your platform and the role as a representative to hold the President accountable. Instead you use it to be a bootlicker. That’s the legacy you leave behind. This is how you will now be remembered. Peace.
