Opinion: I think Yoweri is frighten of COVID-19

This is just my train of thought. There is no proof of this, but it does make sense. Yes, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is of advanced age or an elder. The President needed to abolish age limit to stand in 2021. This because he knows his ageing and we all do. However, his in the age bracket where plenty of people have fallen or died because of the Coronavirus or COVID-19. That is the reason why in the Western hemisphere the virus has hit Nursing Homes and in Long-Term Care Facility. They are in age group of the President.

That is why I he think he fears the COVID-19. His body isn’t resilient or ready for this like it is for plenty of us. I understand the fear. The man got everything to loose. The President will not only loose his life, but his whole family might suffer when he falls. There is no direct plan of succession. Still, he plans to go ahead with yet another election.

This election has been now revised twice in the Election Road Map. The second revision came today. As the “Scientific” election or Digital Campaigning will happen. That’s why its supposed to happen for Presidential Candidates between November 10th 2020 to January 8th 2021. While the Presidential and Parliamentary Polls on the 8th February 2021.

It is clear that he fears it. As there are rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in the Republic. However, with the opening of the most of society. There are some businesses and parts of transportation, which is still not back to a new normal. Still, we know plenty of ordinary actions are happening and the struggles to social distancing is overhanging issue for the Republic to struggle with.

This is why the Electoral Commission and the President to simplify this is going for digital campaigning, meaning on social media, TV, Radio and so fourth. This here is a clear message that the NRM and the President is going ahead with this.

For me that is a man worried and blatantly trying to avoid the masses. I don’t blame him as the virus is spread in groups who is close and not wearing masks. There are reasons to be worried and about how far the virus really will be spread in the community. As there is surely not a total knowledge of how big ratio of the illness is in the community. Since there hasn’t been community testing and checking of possible positive cases randomly. This is why the President is right to be aware and worry.

However, what he also does is to stop ordinary campaigning. Yes, that is a danger, but so is to go to the markets without proper cleaning of hands, sanitizers and securing the stalls. There is easily transmission there as much as it could happen at a rally. Therefore, if he keeps one open, he should be able to do the other. That only makes sense and common sense. If one isn’t deemed dangerous, but the other is. Then it seems to be put forward like that, because of the fright of possible catching the virus.

There could be venues made for smaller rallies where people could social distance and the guards could secure that the public isn’t to friendly to each other. While also giving masks in the entrances for instance and also washing stations. However, that would be hectic, but possible. However, we can feel that the President is so afraid of this illness.

If he wasn’t afraid, he would be either in Kabarole district, Ssesse Island, Abeletong district or in Kaabong. Trying to sway voters and drop of some gems to the public. Maybe revise old pledges and come with new ones as well.

The President seems worried. He seemed shocked and shook by it actually. It is an invisible enemy he cannot control and therefore. The President uses these measures to secure himself and his closest associates. Because he doesn’t want them or him to catch it too. Peace.
