Opinion: Anticipating a rocky road for Bobi Wine

It is not that I wish anyone ill, I don’t, but knowing how the “orders from above” works and seen how the opposition has been treated over the years. I just know how this will play out. Even as the People Power Movement (PPM) and Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine MP plans to hold his consultations in 2020. It will not be without any hurdles.

There will be consequences, just like him jumping on campaign trails and joining forces with other opposition activists for the various by-elections during the 2018 and 2019. That is just the way it is.

The first and foremost. The PPM and Bobi Wine will be served with new criminal charges, if this is “inciting violence”, “unlawful assembly” and so-on. It will catch on and they will also told that they didn’t file the paperwork accordingly to the Public Order Management Act and surely pinned with some charges from the Penal Code. That just happens.

Secondly, the security outfits will monitor, block venues, follow the convoy of Bobi Wine. They will seal of hotels, they will detain activists and local organizers. They will ensure that the radio stations are losing their licenses and so-on. That just happens.

If the PPM and Bobi Wine still try to access the venues and such, there will be live-bullets, arrests and people hurt. There will a bath of tear-gas on the public, there will be road-blocks and will be damage of property.

The Police Force will say the supporters are rowdy, are hoodlums and thugs, while it was the police and armed state officers who fired the first bullet and tear-gas at the venue. The state will say the PPM didn’t act correct according to codes, even if they have negotiated for months for the stadium and whatnot in whatever county they were visiting.

In this manner, the Presidential Consultations, the meeting of locals and such will be with fury. It will be testy and will not be easy. If you thought Amama Mbabazi and Dr. Kizza Besigye have had it hard. The upstart and the rising star Bobi Wine will feel it too. There will be abducted mobilizers and stories of impunity within the range of the consultation season.

If not, the state has had a change of heart, which I doubt. It wouldn’t be shocking if the state tried to pull-off house-arrest and “preventative arrest” of Bobi Wine and close associates. Since, that way they can contain him in Wakiso district.

This state will use all means, because the old man doesn’t feel the love anymore, people are tired of him. That is why they use all means. To think otherwise is naïve, after seeing other campaigns and election cycles under Museveni.

We just know and will not be shocked, because this is scheduled programming. Peace.

Trump-Ukraine: Articles of Impeachment and will the Senate backstab the President?

There was just a matter of time, as the House of Representatives and the majority Committees would collectively go together and make a resolution to vote over the Impeachment of President Donald J. Trump. This after his own actions in office, as the Head of State and the Executive of State.

He is trying to deflect the facts and call it names, but reality is this. The President tried together with all of his handlers to get dirt and shade his political opponent Joe Biden, by making a fraudulent agreement with Ukrainian counterparts and if it didn’t get followed the military aid didn’t come their way.

The Articles against the President is very simple, but straight to the fact. That the President did misuse power or abuse it. He tried to get a foreign power to interfere in the elections of 2020. To investigate the son of Biden. That is what the President did. That is abuse of power and misuse of power in office, using the aid of the state to get a favourable case abroad.

The Second article is the obstruction of Congress. Which at this point is fact. As his administration haven’t answered any of the subpoenas nor calls to testify of people associated with President. Even the ones who been fired has not testified. Family members of the President has also declined to answer the subpoenas and answer the committees.

That has been done by withholding documents or production of it. Defying all subpoenas and refused to produce a single document or record. Directing the Executive Branch not to cooperate nor defying to testify. There are nine persons who have not cooperated from the Executive Branch alone.

While the President has decided that he should decide the scope, the levels of inquire and ability to investigate him. That he has the “executive privilege” and the “sole Power of Impeachment”. With the stopping of documents, lack of cooperation is all a proof the obstruction of justice. As the Congress couldn’t prevail or even manage to get everything. Since, the Executive Branch has been so reluctant to do their duty.

Trump has clearly not followed the memo or should we at this point call his Constitutional rights as a citizen and as a President. He has done whatever he can shelve and stop the Congress from questioning him and his team. While having yes men, whose also involved in the shady business of the President, the likes of Devin Nunes. Who just have an ability to be with the characters of the Executive Branch and ilk who deter to breach the law. That is why the President needs to be tried and answer for his action.

There are several around Rudy Giuliani the attorney of the President whose entangled and in trouble over the same Ukraine Scandal. Which is showing the remorse and the reality on the ground. As the White House is spreading all sort of fiction to pass. Hoping all these conspiracy theories will stick.

While this will most likely pass in the House of Representatives, it will be blocked and silenced in the Senate. As the Republicans cannot go against their master, the likes of Lindsay Graham is unbound in his loyalty to the kingpin on top. His whole fate and life depends on the Donald. That is how it seems.

We will see if the crook will win or not. The House have done their part. They have been able, even in the hardest of hurdles to make a report. To prove what Trump in regards to Ukraine. Now it is just a matter of time. What results it will give and how it will sway the public opinion.

The articles are well-crafted, just like the majority report shows the intent and the essence of the whole ordeal. It is just is if the Senate will betray the Constitution or if they will stab Donald in the back. Which I doubt, because at this point. None of the GOP or Republican Senators seems interested in walking over trouble waters without kissing the ring of Trump. Peace.

UNMISS concerned about clashes in central and northern South Sudan (09.12.2019)

Government forces have been deployed to the area to restore calm and UNMISS has offered to assist if required.

JUBA, South Sudan, December 9, 2019 – A fresh outbreak of tribal clashes and other internal fighting has reportedly resulted in the death and displacement of civilians in the central and northern regions of South Sudan over the weekend.“These clashes in areas that have been relatively calm for many months is worrying,” said David Shearer, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. “The parties in South Sudan have respected the ceasefire signed in 2018 but these intercommunal incidents raise tensions and increase the risk of sparking more serious violence.”

“The shortage of food and access to basic services in the wake of the civil war has put huge pressure on communities. The recent flooding has worsened this situation by destroying crops and pasture which will have a long-term impact on food availability in the coming months,” said David Shearer.

“It is vital that people do not turn to violence as a solution to the dire economic situation or because of political uncertainty. Reconciliation and peace-building is the only viable path to development and, ultimately, prosperity for all South Sudanese.”

Over the weekend, UNMISS received reports of clashes over supplies being transported by barge near Jikou, in Upper Nile. Humanitarian workers were relocated out of the area for their own safety. In a separate incident, internal fighting within the ranks of an armed group in north-western Unity was also reported.

There were also intercommunal clashes in the Lakes region. On 8 December, fighting broke out between the Rup and Pakam communities with incidents of cattle-raiding and revenge attacks taking place six kilometers south-east of Rumbek. Government forces have been deployed to the area to restore calm and UNMISS has offered to assist if required. There has also been fighting at Cuetakuet Island, located on the Nile about 145 kilometers north of Bor.

The number of casualties from these incidents are yet to be verified. UNMISS is working with authorities at the local and national level to resolve these disputes and will continue to support reconciliation and peace-building among the affected communities.
